The Top Ten Weirdest Athletes Of All Time

Athletes are famous for being superstitious or quirky. They do things like wear the same t-shirt for every game, washed or not. Or listen to a particular song before they take the field or even eat certain meals.

In the history of athletics though none have been more strange than this list of 10 athletes compiled by the Houston Chronicle.

Let's take a look.

10. Clinton Portis

Clinton Portis likes to dress up as various characters and perform interviews as them.

There’s the Mad Scientist, who wears glasses like Geordi from Star Trek and claims that his wild hair came from sticking his finger in an electric socket.

There’s Southeast Jerome from Southeast D.C., who was on his way to the bright lights of New York to go dancing.

There’s Dr. I Don’t Know, who wears pink-rimmed glasses that used to be white, but were stained with blood during surgery, and doesn’t know why the Redskins lost 36-0 to the Giants.

There’s Dolemite Jenkins, who like to dance with men and even asked a reporter if he wanted to cut the rug. Portis later revealed that Jenkins, who rocked a red curly-haired wig and dorky glasses, was inspired by the movie Napoleon Dynamite.

There’s also Choo-Choo, Bud Foxx, Prime Minister Yah Mon, Dolla Bill...

9 Chad Ochocinco

As if changing one’s surname from Johnson to Ochocinco isn’t weird enough. Johnson is famous for his ridiculous and often hysterical touchdown celebrations.

He’s performed CPR on the ball, made a bogus proposal to a cheerleader, and held up a sign that read, “Dear NFL, Please Don’t Fine Me Again.”

He’s raced a thoroughbred for charity (he won, for the record) and has sported some of the oddest hairstyles sports have ever seen.

Ochocinco’s newest obsession is his Twitter account, which he posts on as often as 50 times a day.

Here is my personal favorite Ochocinco-ism from Twitter: "You think Brett will put me in one of those Wrangler Jeans commercials, straight up, year supply of Wranglers for Esteban, awesome."

If you're wondering, Esteban is one of his many alter egos.

8 Bill "Spaceman" Lee

Pitcher Bill Lee is perhaps the most interesting man to ever step onto a baseball diamond. He represented the counterculture in America during a time, the 1970s, when a distinct counterculture existed.

Lee was a man of the Earth. He spoke to animals, supported environmental causes, practiced yoga, and consumed A LOT of pot.

In fact, he was once fined $250 by Major League Baseball for sprinkling marijuana on his pancakes.

Lee was also well-known for his outspoken personality. A constant source of quotes for the media, Lee let loose on issues ranging from population control to school busing in Boston.

Lee was also extremely intelligent. He studied Eastern philosophy, the works of Einstein, and later wrote four books. Fittingly, Lee was a lefty. You know what they say about lefties.

7 Manny Ramirez

Manny Ramirez once high-fived a Red Sox fan in Baltimore after making a catch in left field and still found time to fire the ball back to the infield for a double play.

He once strangely massaged the head of then teammate Julian Tavarez, another odd duck, in the dugout during a game.

He spent “free time” between innings at Fenway hanging out in the Green Monster, occasionally on his cell phone.

He once made a diving catch on a relay throw from teammate Johnny Damon that wasn’t intended for him. He took his spot in left field with a water bottle in his back pocket on one occasion.

That’s just Manny Being Manny.

6 Jimmy Piersall

Piersall, an outfielder in the 1950s and 1960s, collected a laundry list of strange incidents during his playing days.

Perhaps the most well-known was the fistfight he had with Billy Martin prior to a game in 1952. I know what you’re thinking; a lot of guys probably threw hands with Billy Martin in their playing days, but Piersall’s strange behavior only begins there.

That same year he spanked the four-year old son of teammate Vern Stephens in the Red Sox clubhouse during a game.

He once stepped to the plate playing air guitar with his bat while wearing a Beatles wig and frequently talked to Babe Ruth’s bust in Monument Park when visiting Yankees Stadium.

Piersall later became the subject of the movie "Fear Strikes Out" about his battle with bipolar disorder.

Later in his life, he said, "Probably the best thing that ever happened to me was going nuts. Who ever heard of Jimmy Piersall until that happened?"

5 Turk Wendell

Wendell, a pitcher for a number of teams from 1993 to 2004, was nearly as entertaining as he was downright weird. Wendall chewed black licorice while he pitched and brushed his teeth between every inning.

Speaking of teeth, he wore necklace strung with the teeth of animals he had killed during his many hunting outings.

Wendell was also extremely superstitious. He leaped over the baseline whenever he took or left the field and required that umpires roll him the ball at the beginning of each inning instead of throwing it.

Wendell was obsessed with the movie Major League and wore the number 99 as a tribute to Charlie Sheen’s character, Ricky “Wild Thing” Vaughn.

Wendell became one of the game’s most liked players due to his quirky behaviors and eccentric personality.

4 Joe Namath

“Broadway Joe” was as unusual as he was great. The always flamboyant Namath often wore full length fur coats on the sideline.

His appearance in an ad for Beautymist pantyhose in 1974 still reigns as the strangest athlete endorsement of all time because he was shown wearing said pantyhose.

He once retired briefly to protest the NFL’s insistence that he sell his partial share in a New York City bar with mafia ties.

Despite having retired nearly 25 years ago, Namath still finds ways to put himself into the headlines.

In 2004, during an interview with ESPN sideline reporter Suzy Kolber, a drunken Namath informed Kolber that he wanted to kiss her. Soon after, Namath sought treatment for alcohol addiction

3 Mark "The Bird" Fidrych

Fidrych, whose nickname was derived from his resemblance to Big Bird, was the 1976 AL Rookie of the Year but only played until 1980.

However, he made a huge impact in his five seasons in the big leagues. Fidrych frequently spoke to the ball while on the mound and aimed it like a dart before starting his windup.

Fidrych would ask umpires to take back balls he believed “had hits in them” and insisted that they come back as pop-ups.

Fidrych became a sensation in Detroit, with attendance skyrocketing whenever he was scheduled to start.

Perhaps Fidrych’s most endearing quality was his insistence that if he wasn’t pitching in the major leagues, he would be pumping gas back in his hometown of Northborough, Mass.

2 Dennis Rodman

Oh, where to start. “The Worm” has made a career out of being different. From dyeing his hair every color over the rainbow to his rendezvous with Madonna, Rodman has always found a way to make himself the center of attention.

He married hottie Carmen Electra, and after showing up in a wedding dress to promote his autobiography, himself.

He once skipped a practice during the NBA Finals to participate in a professional wrestling bout with friend Hulk Hogan.

Rodman’s had his own reality television show, posed nude for PETA, and been in a couple of bad movies. Then there are all the piercings, the tattoos and the arrests.

Somehow along the way, he managed to win five world championships and be a seven time NBA All-Defensive First Team selection. What hasn’t Rodman done?

1 Mike Tyson

The chronicles of Mike Tyson are well known. From the early days of being Iron Mike, one of the greatest heavyweight champions of all time, to the tattoo-faced oddball we know today.

Along the way, Tyson manufactured some of the strangest and disturbing quotes in sports history. In 2002, Tyson told Lennox Lewis, “I want your heart. I want to eat your children.”

He also once advised a female reporter to stop talking unless she wanted to fornicate, because he only does interviews with women if he fornicates with them first.

While his whole life would qualify as strange, Tyson owns the holy grail of peculiar events in sports history. In 1997, Tyson bit off a piece of Evander Holyfield’s ear in the third round of their heavyweight showdown.

Tyson returned to the spotlight in 2009 with his cameo in the hilarious Vegas caper The Hangover. It’s widely believed to be his best performance since knocking out Michael Spinks in only 91 seconds in 1988.

The 52nd annual Grammy Awards air Sunday from the Staples Center in Los Angeles, and it's sure to be a star-packed night. Beyoncé, Taylor Swift, Lady Gaga, Kanye West and Jay-Z lead the nominees, and what we're most looking forward to is some good old-fashioned Grammy wagering. We love gambling. Some people might even say we're addicted to it. And while we can totally quit whenever we want, the Grammys are perhaps the most excellent betting event of the year. Wagering on them is basically like wagering on which way the wind will blow or what color socks that dude in the cubicle next to you will wear tomorrow: The results are almost completely random, which really spices things up. Still, there are those out there who are experts at handicapping these sorts of things (they're called oddsmakers), and in the hopes of getting a leg up, we turned to them for some advice. These are their picks for the night's biggest categories — Album, Record and Song of the Year, plus everyone's favorite crapshoot, Best New Artist. We're not gonna lie, we're relying pretty hard on their expertise — we need a new flat-screen TV. Anyway, from two of the best oddsmakers in the gamble-verse, here are the odds for the 2010 Grammys. Ladbrokes "The thing with the Grammys is, it goes through all the markets and is based largely on how the songs are received," said Nick Weinberg, Ladbrokes' chief sports, politics and novelty oddsmaker. "Beyoncé's odds are probably a bit shorter than they should be. Because she's a name, she can release a terrible album, and it would be nominated for an award. ... But Taylor Swift is the selection. All things being equal, she should win it. Quite an impressive record — which is why we made it our favorite." Album of the Year » Taylor Swift, Fearless: 11/8 » Beyoncé, I Am ... "And Bodog.com's bettors seem to think it may be possible. As of right now, all the early money is on Swift to do just that." Album of the Year » Taylor Swift, Fearless: 5/4 » Beyoncé, I Am ... Kanye West obviously read PETA's recent criticisms of him and isn't too happy about it. They labeled him and girlfriend Amber Rose "pathetic creatures" for rocking fur while in France recently for Paris Men's Fashion Week . In his most recent blog, The Louis Vuitton Don fires shots back, reloads then fires some more. He even wrote in all CAPS to emphasize his point. The popular men's Web site Askmen.com has released the results of its annual Top 99 Most Desirable Women poll, which asked 6 million readers, "What does the modern man look for in his ideal companion?" So who came out on top? Click through to see the top 25 ladies ..

#25: Layla Kayleigh The co-host of MTV's "Randy Jackson Presents America's Best Dance Crew," who gave birth to daughter Melody Rain Covino less than three months ago, is up from #37 on last year's list.

#24: Adriana Lima Victoria's Secret Angel Adriana Lima may have dropped from #19 since 2009, but the Brazilian bombshell is still sitting pretty -- she got married to Memphis Grizzlies' shooting guard Marko Jaric last February and is one of the highest-paid supermodels in the world.

#23: Scarlett Johansson The lovely Johansson, seen here in a glamorous Dolce and Gabbana ad, also has a red-hot career and personal life. The actress and singer has been laying relatively low since tying the knot with fellow actor Ryan Reynolds in 2008, but she'll be back on the big screen to play the Black Widow in "Iron Man 2."

#22: Keeley Hazell You may not have heard of this British Page 3 Girl and glamor model, but 23-year-old Keeley Hazell has graced the pages of many a men's magazine, including Maxim and FHM.

#21: Kristen Stewart This is Kristen Stewart's first year on Askmen.com's list, but what a year it's been! The 19-year-old stars as Bella in the "Twilight" films, and has become many a teenage hipster's dream girl

#20: Paz Vega Spanish actress Paz Vega got her big break in "7 Vidas," the Spanish equivalent of "Friends," but she's managed to make it stateside as well. She's played Adama Sandler's hot nanny in "Spanglish," and also starred in "The Spirit" alongside Eva Mendes, Scarlett Johansson and Jamie King.

#19: Monica Bellucci This 45-year-old Italian beauty proves age is just a number, only slipping one spot from last year's list. Bellucci is best known in the U.S. for her role as Persephone in "The Matrix Reloaded" and "The Matrix Revolutions," but the actress will soon be seen in the upcoming thriller "1:30 Train." She's also expecting her second child with "Oceans Thirteen" star Vincent Cassell.

#18: January Jones She's on one of TV's hottest T.V. shows, but she's not stopping there. "Mad Men" star January Jones plays complex housewife Betty Draper on the Golden Globe-winning series, but will soon be seen in the 2010 flick, "The Hungry Rabbit Jumps" with Nicholas Cage.

#17: Natalie Portman It's good to know men value brains as well as beauty. And while Natalie Portman may be one of the sexiest women alive, she certainly doesn't rest on her looks. Portman took a break from Tinseltown to get her undergraduate degree in psychology from Harvard, but she's back and better than ever in the flick "Brothers."

#16: Kelly Brook Another gorgeous British import makes the top 20. A model, actress and TV personality, Kelly Brook also co-wrote the book, "Life Style: How to Pin Down the Pin-up within You."

#15: Padma Lakshmi The sexy hostess of Bravo's "Top Chef," Padma is also the author of two cookbooks, "Easy Exotic" and "Tangy, Tart, Hot and Sweet," and was married to author Salman Rushdie from 2004 to 2007. On making this year's list for the first time, the mom-to-be says, "I'm delighted that the readers of AskMen.com have chosen to include me on their list. I'm extremely flattered."

#14: Erin Andrews Although ESPN reporter Erin Andrews has had a bit of a tough year, the gorgeous sportscaster has a ton going for her. She's become wildly successful in a male-dominated industry, and was even voted America's Sexiest Sportscaster by Playboy in 2007 and 2008.

#13: Bar Rafaeli Israeli supermodel Bar Rafaeli has made a name for herself as a Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Edition cover model, as well as Leonardo DiCaprio's on-again-off-again girlfriend. Rafaeli was also awarded the "World Style Award" at the Women's World Awards.

#12: Gisele Bundchen Speaking of hot models, Brazilian beauty Gisele Bundchen may be #12 on Askmen.com's list, but Forbes named her the top earning model of 2009, for the $25 million she made last year.

#11: Megan Fox "Jennifer's Body" star Megan Fox was #2 on the list last year, but the foxy actress has dropped to a lowly #11 this year. However, with sexy billboards like this ad for Emporio Armani underwear, we can't imagine she'll be down and out for long.

#10: Miranda Kerr Victoria's Secret Angel Miranda Kerr has that sweet look that you can't help but fall in love with. On making the coveted top 10, the Aussie says, "It is such a big compliment to be given. I would love to send a big thank you to everyone that voted on Askmen.com. I really do appreciate the support."

#9: Eva Mendes Eva Mendes is one of those women that just oozes sex appeal, which likely helped her take the #1 spot in last year's poll. The actress and face of Calvin Klein can soon be seen opposite Will Farrell and Mark Wahlberg in the upcoming comedy, "The Other Guys." She's also an avid PETA supporter.

#8: Cheryl Cole Girls Aloud singer Cheryl Cole may not be so well-known stateside, but in England she's been called "the nation's new sweetheart."

#7: Penelope Cruz What would a list of the most desirable women be without including Penelope Cruz? The stunning Spanish actress won an Oscar for her role in "Vicky Cristina Barcelona," and is currently channeling her naughty side in the star-studded film, "Nine."

#6: Beyonce So what if she's a married woman? "Single Ladies" singer Beyonce is all about keeping her private life with Jay-Z very hush, hush, but she's certainly no wallflower when it comes to performing. The VMA "Video of the Year" winner was also ranked #1 on Forbes' list of the Best-Paid Celebs Under 30 in 2009. Not bad, B!

#5: Jessica Alba Jessica Alba is one sexy mama ... literally. The "Sin City" actress has kept her "Dark Angel" figure despite giving birth to daughter, Honor Marie, in 2008. Her next role is in the highly-anticipated flick "Valentine's Day."

#4: Alessandra Ambrosio Don't hate this Victoria's Secret model because she's beautiful. Hate her because she's freakishly fit -- the Brazilian made headlines back in 2008 for getting back to her pre-baby bod for the that year's Victoria's Secret Fashion Show just three months after giving birth to a baby girl.

#3: Kate Beckinsale It seems Kate Beckinsale is topping everyone's list these days, as she was also named Esquire magazine's "Sexiest Woman Alive" in 2009. But don't think she's just a pretty face -- the British actress has also appeared in films such as "Van Helsing," "Serendipity," "Pearl Harbor," and, most recently, "Everybody's Fine."

#2: Marisa Miller Yet another Victoria's Secret model on the list is the lovely Marisa Miller. "My fans rock! I'm always very humbled to see the support my fans have for me. Thank you AskMen.com!"

#1: Emmanuelle Chriqui Emmanuelle Chriqui, the brunette bombshell who plays L.A. socialite Sloane on "Entourage," received the top honor based on traits that the site says men value "most in a potential companion, such as intelligence, humor, talent and character." "Hearing what the Top 99 vote is made of is the biggest compliment of all because it's not just about being 'hot' but about being a well-rounded woman," Chriqui told AskMen.com. "That's really empowering and is just a massive compliment to me – people recognize that I care about other things." Sources: AskMen.com and NY Daily News Follow Me @Twitter.com/ChasinMoPaper

Music: Tops And Flops Of 2009

Hot Susan Boyle Boyle, a worldwide YouTube phenomenon, brought a whole new concept to modern celebrity: dowdy chic. With her unglamorous appearance contradicting her rapturous voice, Boyle reminded us of the power of inner beauty, and in the process managed to, at least for a while, outsell every shapely young thing on the planet. Boyle's debut racked up the biggest opening sales figure of the year: over 700,000 units, most of them on (gasp!) physical CD.

Maxwell After nearly a decade in hiding, the Brooklyn-born R&B singer made the kind of point-perfect comeback that instantly compensated for all the time away. His album "BLACKsummers'night" went platinum, earning some of the most enraptured reviews of the year, bagging no fewer than six Grammy nominations in their wake.

Kings of Leon They're the first new rock band to break through in far too long. In '09, this brash Nashville foursome enjoyed iTunes' most downloaded album, "Only by the Night." The band also racked up a slew of Grammy nominations for their song "Use Somebody," ensuring they'll become only hotter in 2010.

Taylor Swift Not only did this Nashville star (who just turned 20) have the top-selling album of '09 (with a tally topping 4 million copies), she became a combination saint/victim when Kanye West tried to ruin her moment of triumph at the MTV Video Music Awards in September. To certify her resurrection, two months later, at the American Music Awards, Swift even beat the sanctified Michael Jackson for the top prize: Artist of the Year.

Not U2 They may have enjoyed the year's most attended tour. But U2's latest CD, "No Line on the Horizon," bombed with fans and became the worst-selling disk of their career.

J.Lo Yes, she fell on her world-famous rump on the American Music Awards, but she quickly bounced back (literally, it seems) to survive one of pop's goofier, and most blabbed about, public gaffes.

Kanye West Already a famously bad sport, Kanye crossed the line to genuine jerk-face in the fall when he grabbed the limelight from Taylor Swift during her MTV acceptance speech and insisted that Beyoncé's clip should have won instead. After that, even the impeccably measured President Obama hauled off and called Kanye a "jackass."

Whitney Houston While the troubled singer's comeback CD has sold strongly (800,000 copies and counting), her interview on Oprah left a bad taste in the mouth, and her intended comeback appearance on "Good Morning America" live from Central Park! found her in scratchy and damaged voice, barely able to croak through four short numbers.

Chris Brown The young R&B stud achieved genuine pariah status this year by perpetrating the ultimate no-no viciously beating his girlfriend Rihanna after a pre-Grammy party. Brown spent the rest of the year apologizing, but the damage had been done.

Videos After The Jump CUERNAVACA, Mexico - Two hundred Mexican Navy marines stormed an upscale apartment complex and killed a reputed drug cartel chief in a two-hour gunbattle, one of the biggest victories yet in President Felipe Calderon's drug war. Arturo Beltran Leyva, the "boss of bosses," and six members of his cartel died in the shootout Wednesday in Cuernavaca, just south of Mexico City, according to a navy statement Thursday. The body of one cartel member was found on the ground outside the third-floor apartment, after he apparently committed suicide during the shootout. Cartel gunmen hurled grenades that killed one marine and wounded two others, one of whom is in serious condition, the navy said. Two women and one man were detained during the raid, and five assault weapons were seized. An Associated Press reporter at the scene heard at least 10 explosions during the firefight, which residents said lasted at least 90 minutes. Witnesses said the raid began when marines rappelled down ropes onto the roofs of some of the apartment buildings at dusk. Reporters were briefly allowed inside the apartment where Beltran Leyva's body still lay early Thursday; his skull and one arm were mangled by bullet wounds, and in one hand he clutched a large gold-colored medallion.

Arturo Beltran Leyva "First they were asked to surrender, but they didn't yield and they opened fire," said one of the ski-masked marines who participated in the raid, and who was not authorized to give his name. President Felipe Calderon, speaking from the Copenhagen climate summit, said "this action represents an important achievement for the government and people of Mexico, and a resounding blow against one of the most dangerous criminal organizations in Mexico, and on the continent." Calderon described Beltran Leyva as "one of the three most-wanted" drug suspects in Mexico. By most estimates, the other two — both still at large — are Joaquin "El Chapo" Guzman and Ismael "El Mayo" Zambada.

The suspect was arrested during an operation Wednesday in Cuernavaca, Mexico where, according to navy officials, drug cartel chief Arturo Beltran Leyva and three members of his cartel were slain in the shootout with sailors. (AP Photo/Miguel Tovar) Evacuations before attack Residents of the apartment complex said the raid appeared carefully planned. Sailors went door-to-door before the gun battle to quietly evacuate residents to the gym. Beltran Leyva is the highest-ranking figure taken down under Calderon, who has deployed more than 45,000 troops across Mexico to crush the cartels since taking office in December 2006. Mexico's navy often has been used in the battle as well. The offensive has earned Calderon praise from Washington even as 14,000 people have been killed in a wave of drug-related violence. Beltran Leyva had narrowly escaped attempts to arrest him in recent months, including a Friday raid on an alleged drug cartel holiday party at a mansion in the town of Tepotzlan, near Cuernavaca, where authorities killed three alleged Beltran Leyva cartel members and detained 11. They also detained Ramon Ayala, a Texas-based norteno singer whose band was playing at the party, on suspicion of ties to organized crime. His lawyer, Adolfo Vega, denied Ayala had ties to the Beltran Leyva gang, saying the singer didn't know his clients were drug traffickers. The last time Mexican authorities killed a major drug lord was in 2002, when Ramon Arellano Felix of the Tijuana Cartel was shot by a police officer in the Sinaloa resort of Mazatlan.

One of five brothers Beltran Leyva was one of five brothers from the Pacific coast state of Sinaloa who once worked side by side with Guzman, the leader of the Sinaloa Cartel. The brothers split with Guzman several years ago and aligned themselves with Los Zetas, a group of former soldiers hired by the rival Gulf Cartel as hit men. The split is believed to have fueled much of Mexico's bloodshed of recent years. One of the brothers, Alfredo Beltran Leyva, was arrested in January 2008. The U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration says the Beltran Leyva cartel has smuggled tons of cocaine into the United States, as well as large quantities of heroin. The Mexican government had offered a $2.1 million reward for Beltran Leyva's capture. U.S. officials say the Beltran Leyva Cartel has carried out heinous killings, including numerous beheadings of rival traffickers or kidnappers invading what the gang considered its turf. The gang also has had great success in buying off public officials, including employees of the federal police and prosecutors, to protect their business and get tips on planned military raids. Beheadings U.S. officials say the Beltran Leyva Cartel has carried out heinous killings, including numerous beheadings. The gang also has had great success in buying off public officials, police and others to protect their business and get tips on planned military raids. The U.S government added Beltran Leyva and his cartel to the Foreign Narcotics Kingpin Designation Act last year, a movement that denied him access to the U.S. financial system. The state of Morelos, where Cuernavaca is located, and neighboring Guerrero have seen a spike in violence in recent months, with dozens of people killed. Some of the mutilated bodies have appeared with pieces of paper signed "Boss of Bosses," Beltran Leyva's nickname.

Rolling Stone When Rolling Stone caught up with 50 Cent for a Close-Up in our current issue (dated December 10, 2009), the Queens MC was having some of his signature tattoos lasered off his arms to benefit his budding acting career while musing on the leak of his latest disc, Before I Self Destruct. Fiddy also chatted about his new collaboration with Philly rapper Beanie Sigel and mouthed off about another New York legend with a major 2009 LP: Jay-Z. "I Go Off," your single with Beanie Sigel, recently came out. There's a lot of speculation that he's going to be in G-Unit. Is that going to happen? There's a strong possibility we're going to be doing it. We're starting with this song, and the deal structure between me and him is a complete 50 percent profit split. It's not like an artist deal, like you get 50 percent of everything. For me to deal with Beanie, I'd have to explore the possibility of doing that the entire project, because I wouldn't want to force him to make commercial music, where he can make decent money — a lot of money — without selling a lot of records, and just let it be what it is. That's the details, the difference between doing a deal with that artist and other artists.

And he has a lot to say about the way he was treated on Roc-A-Fella. If he writes those things, you should expect it to be all on the record. When he came out of jail, you offered him $800,000 to sign, but Jay-Z blocked it? He would have definitely got the 800,000 at that point, because I had just did the Mobb Deep and M.O.P. deals, and at that point, there was a lot more physical cash available. The music business was in a different state. When you say 800,000 now, it ain't going to be that now, just because of the way things are. What the expectations are for return on actual CD sales — I still have to get the money from Interscope, and it has to be deemed a legitimate deal, they're not going to just put money in the bag. Were you saying Jay had the deal going the wrong way by not letting him take that opportunity? I think he was saying, "Roc la familia, we family, it's the Roc-A-Fella gang," and then using traditional business tactics. See what I'm saying? At the same time, we had them in a space where they were feeling like they were family, and they didn't have to pay attention to everything. He didn't have their interests in mind, he was just doing what he had to do for himself. Is Beanie talking about Jay? I think when you hear it, you'll understand it. He has some stuff he has to get off his chest. You have to actually hear it, I don't want to blow it. His last single was all about what Jay said about him. Has it changed the way you feel about Jay at all? With Jay-Z, I don't know him personally. I don't think they do, either. They just had stronger access with him.

Who? As far as artists he works with. I think he completely has his best interests in mind. When you commit to working with other artists — I have to be passionate about it. Of course, you want to make money, so you only commit to the things that you're excited about, that you feel you have the chemistry with or has something there, but after you get past that point, it should be something that you actually want to see win. I tried to collaborate with him on the Freeway project ? What I did was Freeway went out and found his publishing deal, and we started the album, and Jay did "Big Spender" and I did "Take You to the Top," and when it came time to put the record out, he didn't want to shoot his video, so I'm like, "Why am I going to shoot mine? I'm not shooting it. It's on your label." He has a king complex, he thinks he's fucking Jesus, you know what I mean? This J-Hova shit.

Is that something you'd put on a record? You have to say something ? I don't really have a passion for this guy. We're compared to each other, because we're both in hip-hop, it would be me, him and Puffy. When they make those comparisons, they compare me to guys who have been here 10 and 15 years longer than me. Can you not see the significance of me being able to make the same deals that they're able to make in 10 years less than they have? You have no personal beef with him, nothing to jump in on? I'm just watching him. He said something one time I didn't like, those little things, subliminal things — for me, that's the punk way to do things. He said something about, "I'm about a dollar." That was a long time ago, that was '99. That didn't matter. There are little things in his records, he would make reference to things, and it would just be a question mark, but when he was in the U.K., he was talking on the radio, and the guy must have made him feel like he was a punk, because he had to point out that he's not afraid of 50 Cent. "Nobody's afraid of 50 Cent," or whatever he said, but he should have been addressing the guys who made him feel like that, because his approach and presentation has made him so approachable that Lil Mama's on the stage [uninvited at the 2009 VMAs]. He made himself like that. When you wear glasses, when you wear Urkel glasses, what do you associate those glasses with? Intelligence. There's certain things that connect to the man — don't hit a guy with four eyes, right? That's the message he's putting out when he's walking around with these glasses and stuff like that on, and you know he's making himself look safer so he can get in the spot on the Beyoncé path.

It seems he'll have to respond, and he might throw you in there. I'd love for him to say something he's not supposed to say about me. The difference is the last guy he competed with was Nas, and he lost. Nas just didn't keep his business intact, and later had to submit and sign under him, so we couldn't acknowledge that he beat him when they had to compete. I think he got a phobia from that. You know what the most vulnerable space for an artist is? Confusion. So if you think you're the hottest rapper or the hottest artist, whenever you're losing and everybody knows it, that could be a confusion point for you, right? That's what he went through at that time. We don't know what happens in the future, but we know the facts. Follow Me @Twitter.com/ChasinMoPaper

MTV Reports'Despite my past and stuff like that, I appreciate all of y'all,' Brown tells fans at the New Jersey concert, which also featured Fabolous and The-Dream.EAST RUTHERFORD, New Jersey — Chris Brown is getting back to the music. After making headlines this year for his February assault of then-girlfriend Rihanna, Brown made serious movement in his musical comeback on Tuesday (October 27) with the premiere of his "I Can Transform Ya" video and a headlining performance at Power 105.1's Powerhouse '09 concert.Incidentally, the New York radio station hosted a comeback show for R. Kelly when he was facing legal woes back in 2003. Much like Kelly six years ago, the Powerhouse fans embraced Brown with cheers and singing of their own. After openers The-Dream, Fabolous, Day26, Trey Songz, Keri Hilson and Mario, Brown had his spotlight. Most of the opening acts were eager to see Chris get back to where he belongs: entertaining. Instead of taking off after their performances, you could see Hilson, Songz and Day26 by the side of the stage waiting to see what Brown would do."Chris is a performer. In spite of all that's been going on in his personal life, he's gonna get out there and perform," Songz said before Brown hit the stage. "I'm confident in that. As a friend, as a brother, I wanna see him go out there and shut it down. I believe everybody deserves a second chance. In God's eyes, none of us are perfect, and he forgives us every day. He deserves a second chance, and I commend Power 105 for giving it to him."There was an immediate roar in the crowd as Brown came out in a black-and-red jacket that looked like a futuristic version of what Michael Jackson wore in the "Thriller" video. Brown wasted no time in getting to his new material, starting with "I Can Transform Ya." Chris began at the back of the stage with his dancers, who were all dressed in black up to their face-covering motorcycle helmets. Brown started singing and walking to the front of the stage, where Swizz Beatz also emerged to rap the song's hook."Wall to Wall" followed, with more high-powered dancing. In the middle of the record, Brown's DJ played Jay-Z's "On to the Next" during a choreographed breakdown. Leg kicks, krumping, slides — Brown's arsenal seems to have expanded."Gimme That" was next, and Brown reminded the crowd that he's getting older on the opening lyric: "The young boy now is 20." Shortly after, Brown's DJ asked him how he felt. The singer let the music speak for him as the Clipse's "I'm Good" came on.Brown and two backup dancers walked from the back to the front of the stage with a bop and arms folded. They leaned to the left on the song's chorus, leaned to the right, then they all dropped down low. "Yo" came next, followed by "Take You Down." The latter was Brown in full heartthrob mode. Brown didn't last the entire record without ripping off of his black tank top. The ladies voiced their approval with screams.Juelz Santana came out as special guest to debut his new single with Brown, "Back to the Crib." Next, Brown slowed the tempo and had thousands of backup singers in the crowd on his hit "With You.""Are y'all glad Chris is back doing shows?" Brown's DJ asked the audience. The fans screamed with praise.Brown finally spent some time speaking to the audience after they sang Jordin Sparks' parts on "No Air." "Despite my past and stuff like that, I appreciate all of y'all," he said. His words were barely audible because of the cheering. The singer also promised to be a better man. "How long we gonna do this for? We gonna do this forever!" he also promised.Of course, "Forever" closed the show."It was dope. I loved it," Omarion said after the show. "It's amazing to be able to come out and support my peers. Chris came and did his thing, all the time. Yeah, CB, he's ready. He's right and he's ready. It's time.""Excuse my French, but that mutha----in' boy killed that sh--!" Polow Da Don exclaimed after watching Brown. "The energy was crazy. You could tell that's something that's missing in the game. He's the absolute truth. He's the future."Earlier in the night, Mario paraded out a host of surprises during his short set. Maino came out for "All the Above," then Red Cafe joined the party with "Hottest in the Hood." Jim Jones later came out for "We Fly High." Jones was joined by DJ Webstar for "Dancin' on Me." Finally, Sean Garrett came out for the smash "Break Up."Keri Hilson, the lone female on the bill, lit up the mic with "Turnin' Me On," "Knock You Down" and Timbaland's "The Way I Are." Trey Songz was combustible with his hits "Successful" and "I Invented Sex."

NY Daily News Reports Cops investigating the murder of a Bronx man are looking back at a 2007 assault case in which he took the rap for one of 50 Cent's sidekicks. Lowell Fletcher, 32, was killed on Jerome Ave. Sept. 27, just two weeks after making parole, and cops are looking to the rap world for a possible motive. Fletcher, who used the rap name Lodi Mack, was employed by G-Unit rapper Tony Yayo, who was busted two years ago for smacking the 14-year-old son of rival music producer Jimmy (Henchman) Rosemond of Czar Entertainment.

Lil Henchman The boy was wearing a T-shirt with the name of his father's company, which reps rapper The Game - a rival to Yayo and his famous patron, 50 Cent. Police said Fletcher, who was a lieutenant in the Bloods as well as a member of Yayo's posse, flashed a handgun at the teen and Yayo backhanded him in the face.

Jimmy Henchman Later, after his drug arrest, Fletcher told police that he - not Yayo - had hit the boy, and assault charges against Yayo were dropped. Fletcher pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor and served nine months concurrently with a 2 1/2-year sentence for drug possession. "He pled guilty for another guy, for Yayo," said a police source. "And the kid's father is a pretty big guy in the music industry. So the case might be connected to him, or to 50 Cent and his boys, to get the heat off of them." Another source said there were more theories than facts: "On Jerome Ave., it could be lots of reasons - or no reason." In April 2008, the mother of Rosemond's son filed a multimillion-dollar civil suit against Fletcher, Yayo, 50 Cent, G-Unit Records and Interscope Records. It charges her son was attacked to promote a violent "gangsta image." Yayo's lawyer, Scott Leemon, said complaints against the companies and 50 Cent - who wasn't even there - were thrown out, leaving Fletcher and Yayo as the sole defendants in the ongoing civil case. "Based on Fletcher's death, I have no idea what is going to happen now," Leemon said. Fletcher was shot around 9:30 p.m. at Jerome Ave. and Goble Place, a quiet block surrounded by shuttered auto-body shops. Investigators believe several men ambushed him that Sunday night. A day after the shooting, Yayo twittered: "R.I.P TO LODI MACK. GONE BUT NEVER FORGOTTEN." He later deleted the message.
