Video After The Jump Being the son of a hip hop legend could be a hindrance to some people that can't handle the pressure, especially when your chosen field of work is the same. Young MC Diggy Simmons is out to prove he can establish his own identity outside of his father Rev Run's. "A lot of people ask me that. 'Do you feel pressure? Is it a lot for the fact your uncle is who he is [Russell Simmons], and your dad is [famous]'. But at the end of the day, from the beginning all the way til now, I've always just done me," Diggy says. Diggy has achieved some success early in the game. At age 15, he already has two mixtapes out, and a deal with Atlantic Records. Some people think he's been over hyped or that his success has been a fluke. "Of course people are gonna think that it's a fluke because on 'Run's House', you know and where I came from. But if you see how long I've been going with it...I've put out two mixtapes already, and doing my thing on the internet. And didn't even run straight to a single or run straight to a label. You can see that I'm building a career and a fan base, something that's going to have longevity." Young Dig uses the word "n*gga" quite a bit in his songs. He was asked how his parents feel about that. "I just feel as long as it's not any other [curse] word. I don't necessarily think that's a curse word. I don't think that's a derogatory term. Over time it became soething positive in the African American community." Diggy goes on to talk about his sneaker line and his 'Airborne' mixtape that features Chris Brown, Raekwon, Lupe Fiasco and Pharell twitter-5d.gif
