TMZ - Silento's family is banding together on the heels of his arrest for allegedly murdering his cousin & they’re addressing reports the rapper's been battling mental health issues.
A rep for Silento, Chanel Hudson, tells TMZ ... the family's trying to move forward as a close-knit group. As we reported, the rapper's facing a murder charge in Georgia for the fatal shooting of his cousin, Frederick Rooks.

We're told the family is reeling from both events -- Rooks' death on Jan. 21, & then Silento's arrest 11 days later.

Hudson claims Silento's been suffering from a "series of mental health illnesses" for years, including depression & we're told the family echoes her concern about his well-being.
Silento is being held without bail in DeKalb County Jail and his entertainment attorney, Bernie Lawrence-Watkins, tells TMZ ... he needs a psychiatric evaluation ASAP & should be watched closely.
She told us they don't think he would take his life behind bars, but admits "anything is possible," & they want to make sure the jail is taking proper precautions.
Silento had an opportunity to get mental health treatment in 2019 after he appeared on "The Doctors" to talk about depression -- however we're told he never followed through. Folks on his team feel that's when things started to unravel.

The 23-year-old was arrested twice last year ... once for allegedly doing 143 MPH & another time for threatening people with a hatchet. #silento #silentochargedwithkillingcousin #watchmewhipwatchmenaenae #murder #homicide #gun #guns #gunviolence #frederickrooks #mentalhealthawareness #mentalillness #dekalbcounty #atlanta #rapper #rapnews #hiphopnews

TMZ - Kyle Rittenhouse, the teen charged with homicide in the Kenosha, WI killings, isn't complying with his bond ... according to prosecutors, who want him to pay $200k more.

The State of Wisconsin claims Rittenhouse is no longer living at the address listed with the court, & has failed to update it within 48 hours of moving ... which violates the conditions of his bond.
Prosecutors claim Rittenhouse has not lived where he claims he's living since at least mid-December -- based on an investigation by Kenosha PD & has failed to provide the court with his current address for weeks.

According to legal docs ... this means the court can't effectively monitor his whereabouts.
Further, the State claims Rittenhouse has no incentive to comply with his bond conditions because neither he nor his family had to come up with his $2 million bond ... rather the money came from a "dubious Internet fundraising campaign."

Prosecutors claim Rittenhouse, therefore, has no financial stake, & doesn't care to follow the rules ... which they say he demonstrated by hitting up a bar last month, allegedly hanging with Proud Boys members & flashing white supremacy hand signs.
As you'll recall ... Rittenhouse is charged over the killing of 2 protesters & wounding a 3rd during the civil unrest in Kenosha that exploded following Jacob Blake's shooting. Video allegedly shows him shooting 2 of the 3 people before walking right past police.

He's currently out of jail after posting the $2 mil bail, which as we reported ... was made possible by supportive donors, including actor Ricky Schroder. #kylerittenhouseisamurderer #kenoshashooting #murder #homicide #kylerittenhousebail #kylerittenhousearrested #jacobblake #anthonyhuber #josephrosenbaum #ar15 #assaultrifle #prosecutors

BEIJING (AP) — A ruckus brought by China over Canadian T-shirts bearing an altered logo of the New York hip-hop group Wu-Tang Clan continued Wednesday, with China’s Foreign Ministry saying it didn’t buy Canada’s explanation that the shirts were not an insult linked to the coronavirus.

Canada’s Foreign Ministry said this week that the shirts using the “W” logo of the Wu-Tang Clan but with the group’s name replaced with “Wuhan” was not intended as a slight. It apologized for any misunderstanding.

The Chinese-made T-shirts were reportedly ordered last summer by someone at the Canadian Embassy in Beijing & word of them began circulating recently on the internet in China.

Chinese critics say the “W” is actually a bat & the shirt is meant to imply a connection between the animals & the virus outbreak in the city of Wuhan, playing on a stereotype about the Chinese taste for eating exotic species. The virus that causes COVID-19 is suspected of originating in bats & its outbreak was first detected in Wuhan.

Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Wang Wenbin on Wednesday told reporters that Canada’s explanation thus far was ”not convincing.”

“The wrongdoing of the Canadian staff concerned has already caused an egregious impact & triggered strong resentment & discontent among the ordinary Chinese people,” Wang said. “The Canadian side should take the matter seriously & give a clear explanation to the Chinese side as soon as possible.”

On Wednesday, Canadian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Christelle Chartrand said in a statement that “The T-shirt logo designed by a member of the Embassy shows a stylized W, & is not intended to represent a bat. It was created for the team of Embassy staff working on repatriation of Canadians from Wuhan in early 2020.”

Stephen A. Smith is a prominent voice in ESPN’s mixed martial arts coverage.

While he’s sometimes criticized by prominent MMA voices for his analysis, he nonetheless stands alongside the network’s combat experts as ESPN promotes and covers its UFC partner.

He made comments on Tuesday that are sure to generate turmoil within the UFC — especially among the women who put their bodies on the line to compete in the cage.

Smith goes on tangent in conversation about women in sports

Smith brought up the topic of women fighters Tuesday in a conversation with The Ringer’s Larry Wilmore on his “Black on the Air” podcast. The two spent the better part of an hour talking about Smith’s career at ESPN and Black issues in sports and sports media.

Toward the end of the conversation, Wilmore asked Smith about his thoughts on women taking more prominent roles as coaches and executives in men’s sports. He told Wilmore that “I love it” in terms of women taking those roles. He then launched into an unprompted tangent about his thoughts on women competing in combat sports.

That, he does not love.

‘Where I jump off the bandwagon ...’

“First of all, I love it,” Smith said. “I think that there’s an awful lot of women who are incredibly qualified to do the jobs they’re doing. Where I jump off the bandwagon is where they try to engage physically.

“For example, I don’t ever want to see a woman boxing a man. I don’t want to see that. I don’t want to see a woman in the UFC fighting a man — even though there are some women out there that will kick the dude’s butt.”

First of all, huh?

What does that answer have to do with the topic of women taking on leadership roles in sports? And why is Smith so concerned about men fighting women in the Octagon in the first place? This isn’t a thing that actually happens, as much as fight fans have pondered past and present how Ronda Rousey or Amanda Nunes would fare in the cage against a man.

But Smith wasn’t done. Not only does he not want to see women fighting men, he’s not into women fighting, period.

‘I don’t like seeing women involved in that at all’

“When I think about pugilistic sports, I don’t like seeing women involved in that at all,” Smith continued. “I just don’t like it. I wouldn’t promote legislating laws to prohibit them from doing so, but I don’t want to see women punching each other in the face. I don’t want to see women fighting in the Octagon and stuff like that.

“That’s just me.”

While it’s well and good that Smith doesn’t intend to introduce legislation prohibiting women from fighting, this is obviously a problematic take — in general, and for Smith’s role as a prominent voice for UFC’s broadcast partner.

Women have taken their seat at the UFC table

The women who compete in UFC have obviously earned their place. In 2021, there’s no need to explain why women at the top of their game are provided a venue to compete. Not only do the women of the UFC belong, they’re often among the sport’s top draws.

Nunes is one of the sport’s most feared and revered fighters. Women are regularly featured at the top of UFC pay-per-view cards and produce some of the most talked about fights. Two of the five bouts in last week’s UFC 257 main card featured women.

This isn’t an act of altruism by Dana White. These fights are featured because fight fans want to watch them.

Even if Smith doesn’t.

Four courtside fans -- at least one of whom was not covering her face with a mask -- were ejected from Monday's game between the Los Angeles Lakers and Atlanta Hawks following a verbal spat with Lakers star LeBron James, the Hawks confirmed to ESPN.

Juliana Carlos, who later posted on social media, and her husband, Chris Carlos, exchanged words with James in the fourth quarter of the visiting Lakers' 107-99 win, prompting the ejection.

Juliana Carlos posted a video on her Instagram account showing the scene shortly after State Farm Arena security personnel and one of the referees, Mitchell Ervin, intervened.

She can be heard saying, "Shut the f--- up. Don't talk to my husband like that," while standing on the sideline with her mask pulled down below her chin. Someone off camera can be heard asking her to put her mask on, which is required of all fans attending NBA games this season. She wrote "f---ing loser" in a text box to accompany the video, with her camera pointed at James.

After the ejection, Carlos posted a selfie-style video, offering her account of what happened.

"So, I'm minding my own business, and Chris has been a Hawks fan forever. He's been watching the games for 10 years. Whatever, he has this issue with LeBron. I don't have an issue with LeBron. I don't give a f--- about LeBron," she says in the video. "Anyway, I'm minding my own business, drinking my [beverage], having fun. All of the sudden, LeBron says something to my husband, and I see this and I stand up. And I go, 'Don't f---ing talk to my husband.' And he looks at me and he goes, 'Sit the f--- down, b----.' And I go, 'Don't f---ing call me a b----. You sit the f--- down. Get the f--- out of here. Don't f---ing talk to my husband like that.'"

James was not asked postgame about Carlos' name-calling allegation, but he was not fazed by the incident and said he felt like an ejection was unnecessary.

"At the end of the day, I'm happy fans are back in the building," he said after putting up 21 points, 9 assists and 7 rebounds to help L.A. to the road win. "I miss that interaction. I need that interaction; we as players need that interaction. I don't feel like it was warranted to be kicked out."

SUNRISE, Fla. (AP) — Two FBI agents were killed and three wounded Tuesday after a standoff with a suspect in South Florida that forced nearby residents to huddle inside their homes as shots rang out and SWAT teams stormed an apartment building.

The confrontation in the Fort Lauderdale suburb of Sunrise marked one of the bloodiest days in FBI history in South Florida and among the deadliest nationally as well, according to the FBI website.

FBI Director Christopher A. Wray identified them as Special Agent Daniel Alfin, 32, and Special Agent Laura Schwartzenberger, 33.

He confirmed that the suspect is deceased. Sources told Local 10 News that the suspect took his or her own life. That person’s identity has not yet been released.

According to Marshall, the shooting occurred around 6 a.m. as the agents were serving a warrant in the vicinity of 10100 Reflections Blvd.

He said the federal court-ordered search warrant was related to a case involving violent crimes against children.

“In accordance with FBI policy, the shooting incident is under investigation by the FBI’s Inspection Division,” Marshall said. “The review process is thorough and objective and is conducted as expeditiously as possible under the circumstances. Because this is an ongoing investigation, no further information will be released at this time.”

Nearly 3 years before the Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin knelt on George Floyd as he cried that he couldn’t breathe last May, Zoya Code found herself in a similar position: handcuffed facedown on the ground, with Chauvin’s knee on her.

The officer had answered a call of a domestic dispute at her home & Code said he forced her down when she tried to pull away. “He just stayed on my neck,” Code said, ignoring her desperate pleas to get off. Frustrated & upset, she challenged him to press harder. “Then he did. Just to shut me up,” she said.

Last week, a judge in Minnesota ruled that prosecutors could present the details of her 2017 arrest in their case against the former officer, who was charged with second-degree unintentional murder in Floyd’s death.

Code’s case was one of six arrests as far back as 2015 that the Minnesota attorney general’s office sought to introduce, arguing that they showed how Chauvin was using excessive force when he restrained people by their necks or by kneeling on top of them—just as he did in arresting Floyd.

Of the six people arrested, two were Black, one was Latino & one was Native American. The race of two others was not included in the arrest reports that reporters examined.

Discussing the encounters publicly for the first time in interviews with The Marshall Project, 3 people who were arrested by Chauvin & a witness in a fourth incident described him as an unusually rough officer who was quick to use force & callous about their pain.

Chauvin, who was fired, has said through his attorney that his handling of Floyd’s arrest was a reasonable use of authorized force. But he was the subject of at least 22 complaints or internal investigations during his more than 19 years at the department, only one of which resulted in discipline. These new interviews show not only that he may have used excessive force in the past, but that he had used startlingly similar techniques.

Video After The Jump

WASHINGTON (AP) — Republican Senate leader Mitch McConnell denounced newly elected Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene on Monday, calling the far-right Georgia Republican’s embrace of conspiracy theories and “loony lies” a “cancer for the Republican Party.”

“Somebody who’s suggested that perhaps no airplane hit the Pentagon on 9/11, that horrifying school shootings were pre-staged, and that the Clintons crashed JFK Jr.’s airplane is not living in reality,” said McConnell, R-Ky., referring to a handful of conspiracy theories that Greene has publicized in the past. “This has nothing to do with the challenges facing American families or the robust debates on substance that can strengthen our party.”

McConnell’s explicit condemnation adds to pressure on House Republicans to take action against Greene even as she is claiming renewed support from former President Donald Trump. It comes as House Democrats moved Monday to strip Greene of her committee assignments if Republican Leader Kevin McCarthy, R-Calif., refuses to do so himself.

“It is my hope and expectation that Republicans will do the right thing and hold Rep. Greene accountable, and we will not need to consider this resolution,” said House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer, D-Md. “But we are prepared to do so if necessary.”

Greene’s views were in the spotlight even before she joined the House last month.

The Georgia Republican has expressed support for QAnon conspiracy theories, which focus on the debunked belief that top Democrats are involved in child sex trafficking, Satan worship and cannibalism. Facebook videos surfaced last year showing she’d expressed racist, anti-Semitic and anti-Muslim views. Top Republicans denounced her at the time, hoping to block her from capturing the GOP nomination in her reliably red congressional district in northwest Georgia.

But after she won her primary, they largely accepted her. Since then, even more of her past comments, postings and videos have been unearthed, though many were deleted recently after drawing attention.

She “liked” Facebook posts that advocated violence against Democrats and the FBI. One suggested shooting House Speaker Nancy Pelosi in the head. In response to a post raising the prospect of hanging former President Barack Obama, Greene responded that the “stage is being set.”

In an undated video posted online, Greene floated a conspiracy theory that falsely suggests that the 2017 mass shooting that killed 58 people at a country music festival in Las Vegas could have been a false flag operation to build support for gun control legislation.

ATLANTA (AP) — Silento, the Atlanta rapper known for his hit song “Watch Me (Whip/Nae Nae),” was arrested Monday and charged with murder in the shooting death of his 34-year-old cousin, authorities said.

DeKalb County police said in a statement on Twitter that the 23-year-old rapper whose legal name is Ricky Hawk was arrested in that suburb of Atlanta. The police statement said he is in the county jail, charged with murder in connection with the Jan. 21 death of Frederick Rooks.

The statement didn’t elaborate on the circumstances of the death or Hawk’s arrest.

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported that Hawk was being held without bond late Monday.

The newspaper had reported previously that police responded to a call of shots fired on Jan. 21 about 3:30 a.m. in the community of Panthersville in DeKalb County. The newspaper cited police as saying officers found Rooks dead with multiple gunshot wounds that night.

It wasn’t immediately known if Hawk had an attorney who could comment for him. His manager did not immediately respond to an emailed request for comment Monday night.
