Mike Epps has come a long way in his career. Not only is he one of the funniest comedians around, but he's also transitioned nicely into acting. He will portray legendary comedian Richard Pryor in an upcoming biopic about iconic singer Nina Simone titled Nina.
Mike was a recent guest on Nitecap with Peter Bailey and talked about meeting Richard, getting the blessing from his wife to play the role after Richard passed and cracks a George Zimmerman joke.

Kendrick Lamar's verse on Big Sean's song "Control" not only fired up fellow rappers, fans and critics, it also boosted sales of his Good Kid, M.A.A.D City album.
The disc sold 9,000 copies last week, propelling it back into the top 40 albums. It leap-frogged from the No. 52 spot up to No. 36, according to HipHopDX, citing Nielsen Soundscan statistics.
The boost pushed the album over the 1 million mark in sales. It had previously been certified platinum in June by the Recording Industry of America (RIAA) for 1 million units shipped.
Definitely great news for K. Dot, Top Dawg Entertainment and Aftermath.

Slaughterhouse emcee Crooked I continues to promote his latest album titled Apex Predator by releasing an official music video for "Nobody Cares" featuring Tena Jones. The album is available now on iTunes.
Drake's highly anticipated third studio album Nothing Was the Same has been pushed back. Originally scheduled to be released on September 17th, it will now hit retail outlets one week later on September 24th.
Those who are disappointed by the push back will be happy to know that they will get to see the YMCMB emcee perform "Started From the Bottom" at the MTV Video Music Awards on Sunday, August 25th.
The announcement was made this morning via his Twitter account.
Other acts scheduled to perform include Miley Cyrus, Katy Perry, Kanye West, Bruno Mars, Lady Gaga and Macklemore.

It's been a minute since we've heard some of that smooth R&B music from KCi & JoJo, but they're back on the scene with a brand new single titled "Knock it Off." The song is off of their forthcoming album, My Brother's Keeper, due out September 24, via E One.

DMX was arrested in South Carolina again last night. Police stopped a car he was riding in for making an illegal U-turn. Weed was discovered when the car was searched. After running a background check on X. it was discovered that he had a warrant out from a previous driving without a license case.
As soon as he was arrested and placed in handcuffs, the rapper suspected something fishy about the vehicle being stopped in the first place and the number of cops who responded to the scene.
"This ain't no normal traffic stop. 18 cops, 5 cars, get the f*ck outta here man," X screamed, while a female friend filmed the entire incident.
Dark Man can also be heard saying the U-turn was legal.
"She did a legal turn and they said, 'Oh you was whipping it.' It was a legal turn," he said.
During the commotion the rapper suffered an asthma attack. He was treated by paramedics at the scene and is reported to be fine now, according to TMZ.
Authorities said X will most likely be held in jail for 15 days, but could get out in 10 for good behavior. Watch video of the arrest below.

Before taking a hiatus from the battle rap scene, Serius Jones slayed a lot of your favorite emcees. He's back on the scene now and will get in the ring with Math Hoffa at Ultimate Rap League's Summer Madness 3 on September 8, for what should be a classic. It's a rematch of their previous contest on MTV’s Fight Klub.
Jones was announced the winner, but Math said it wasn't legit because he was disqualified.
“You see this guy right here? He didn’t body nobody. I got disqualified okay. He didn’t body nobody. It’s f*ckin’ four rounds. It’s three rounds in a Fight Klub, if they can’t call it they go to four,” Math explained to HipHopDX. “He was the favorite, you know how the Fight Klub do. So when they got to three they was like ‘Damn, we can’t give it to Math. We gotta do something for this n*gga.’ So they gave him the fourth, disqualified me, he took the win. But I got disqualified. He didn’t body me.”
Serius recently talked to Freak Genius TV/Major Moves DVD about the upcoming event and why he feels he defeated Math the first time around.
