(USA Today) Saturday was supposed to be a celebration.

A farewell to one of the greatest fighters of all time.

After seven competitive close rounds, it was anyone's fight. But then, as he always does, Father Time came calling.

Bernard Hopkins laid on the concrete floor, and immediately, team members and security rushed to check on him.

Shock washed over the audience of 6,513 at The Forum.

One month shy of his 52nd birthday, the legend was laying on the ropes when Joe Smith Jr., landed six unanswered punches, the last of which sent Hopkins flying out of the squared circle, the back of his bald head the first body part to collide with the concrete floor.

After all, Hopkins had never been knocked out. Referee Jack Reiss administered a 20-count — the customary ruling for a fighter knocked out of the ring — and finally, it was all over.

Hopkins (55-8-2, 32 KOs) never made his way back into the ring, a twisted right ankle — "I needed time to see if I could box on it" — derailing him as a sea of humanity crowded him on the ring apron.

Smith (22-1, 19 KOs) jumped up on the turnbuckle, feet away from where the legend sat, and celebrated, but no one, save for his team, was in any mood to join him.

Like Joe Louis, who was catapulted from the ring in a brutal knockout loss to Rocky Marciano in his final bout, Hopkins exits the sport in similar fashion.

Hopkins' career, after more than 28 years of fights; 20 middleweight title defenses; 10s of thousands of interviews; lawsuits; upsets; setbacks; is finally over, and it surely isn't the way he drew it up.

"This is my last fight, I promised it would be and you come to that point in life where it is final and I’m happy with my retirement," said Hopkins. At the time of the stoppage, Smith was up 69-64 and 67-66, with Hopkins up 67-66 on the third card. "I know the fans will know I went out as a soldier, fighting the toughest, baddest opponents.

“ ... I know if I hadn’t made a mess and gotten knocked out of the ring, I would’ve come back like I’m known for and would’ve had my chin."

Boxers never know when to say goodbye. Where else can you find such an adrenaline rush? Even in defeat, Hopkins believed he could have found a way, if only one punch missed; if one little thing went differently.

But it didn't. Instead, Smith, a laborer's union worker from Long Island, N.Y., caps off an incredible 2016 with upset victories over light heavyweight contender Andrzej Fonfara (first-round KO) and now a first-ballot Hall of Famer.

"It feels great, it’s the best feeling in the world to accomplish something I set out for and wanted to do," said Smith, 27. " ... I had seen him fall, and I kept hitting him until I saw him go out, and I landed that left hook until he went out. I knew he had time to go out, but I hit him with four or five clean shots and they were good shots on the button.

"I knew he was a true champion, and if he didn’t get injured, he’d be back here. I came here to do my job, this is my coming out party, too. I had to finish him, it was either my career was going to end or his was going to end, but I needed mine to continue."

Hopkins closes the book one of the greatest fighters of his era and is widely considered a top-50 boxer all time.

And at times Saturday, The Executioner showed flashes of his former dominant self.

Hopkins was clearly rusty early. He hadn't fought since a November 2014 shellacking to Sergey Kovalev, and he simply couldn't find his rhythm over the early rounds.

Smith wisely pushed the tempo to an uncomfortable pace for the old man. He chased Hopkins around the ring and was able to pin the defensive master into ropes consistently, a rarity for the defensive master.

Hopkins finally found his rhythm in Round 4, though. He began to duck under Smith's hard-charging shots and responded with clean rights over the top.

The Alien was clearly back in the fight after a rough three rounds, and Smith also had a cut left eye to deal with after a clash of heads in Round 1.

But Hopkins, eventually, could no longer hold off Smith, who loaded up on every punch, and when he connected on that last combination, it was curtains.

It's a sad ending for Hopkins, but he'll always be remembered for his legendary nights, like the upset over Felix Trinidad. Or the beating he gave Antonio Tarver in his first farewell fight. Or even the time Hopkins won a world title at the record age of 46, all while performing pushups during the fight.

Hopkins leaves the sport the same way he entered it: with a loss.

But now, it's finally all over. And what a career it was.

"Time says it all," Hopkins said. "I'll be 52 in a few weeks. I look like I probably still can (fight). But I can't."

On Saturday, December 17, a video hit the internet that appeared to show CeeLo Green suffering an injury when a cell phone exploded in his face.

The incident was trending worldwide because CeeLo appeared to be unconscious at the end of the clip and there was no immediate explanation of what happened from his camp.

In a new video, the singer assures fans he's not injured and says the footage was part of a music project.

"I just want to let everybody know that I am alive, and I'm well and I'm OK," CeeLo explains. "Truthfully, I'm really upset that anybody had to be emotionally disturbed by what they saw today. Actually, what you saw today was a clip from a smaller video that we were shooting for a new project I'm doing called Gnarly Davidson. It's supposed to set up and introduce the new character identity, you know what I'm saying?" he continued. "I'm still gonna release the music, though," he added. "But first and foremost, for everybody that love me and care about me, I just want to say that I'm OK ... I just want to thank everybody for their love and support and concern. And that's really all I wanna say. I've had a very difficult day dealing with everything. Y'all bear with me and mucj love. Thank y'all."

The singer loses consciousness as he falls from his chair to the ground face down. He's motionless before the video ends.

We hope he got immediate medical attention and is recovering.

When 22 Savage emerged on the rap scene most people assumed it was just someone trying to parody 21 Savage. After all, 21 was established and the Atlanta artist's career was solidified when he was named a 2016 XXL Freshman.

However, 22 hasn't gone away. In fact, the Baton Rouge comedian-turned-rapper has continued to release songs and videos.

21 and his homie No Plug initially ignored the situation, but as of late the two camps have been dissing each other.

22 sat down for a new interview with Say Cheese TV to give his side of the story.

Say Cheese: Last time we spoke you and 21 Savage didn't have a difference. Now it's 'fuck them, fuck this nigga, I'm coming to Baton Rouge, I'm doing this.' What sparked that off?

22: One of his homeboys had made a post with little tombstones. I guess they thought I wasn't a street nigga or something. I'm really a street nigga so i told the niggas to pull up. It went from there. Everybody made videos and shit.

Say Cheese: So, he put tombstones over your picture?

22: Yeah, and then No Plug had commented under what one of his homeboys said. He was like 'something, something, something,' so I told him to pull up.

Say Cheese: No Plug is a guy that's pretty known in the industry for the Bankroll Fresh situation. Do you know him personally?

22: No

Say Cheese: You told him pull up. And then what happened after that?

22: They got to making videos. I said what I had to say. And that was that.

Say Cheese: One thing that really shocked me was I never seen a situation where the whole city stood up for one guy. Why do you think B.R. stood up for you like that?

22. That Rouge gon' roll with that Rouge regardless

Say Cheese: No Plug said he was gonna come out here and shoot a music video. Was that his video or somebody he was cool with?

22. I don't know. It just don't matter who he come with.

Say Cheese: You also tweeted that 21 Savage hit up Worldstar and told them not to post any of your content. How did you feel about that when you found out about it?

22: I understand where he coming from 'cause my name 22. But it is what it is.

Say Cheese: So why 22, out of every rapper in the game?

22: It come from the comedy shit. At first it was a joke, until a nigga thought I was pussy. I ain't pussy at all.

Say Cheese: Why do you think people don't take you serious?

22: 'Cause my name 22. 21 ... 22, the whole concept is funny. People look at it as a joke. Now it's time to show 'em what it's really hitting for with me and the music. I'm raw with this shit.

Say Cheese: I did a interview with a few artists and they felt like you had to go to Atlanta for them to take you serious. If you gon' try to follow a artist's footsteps. His name and stuff like that ...

22: I didn't really try to follow him. i did it 'cause I knew what it was gon' do. I know how to cause controversy easy.

Say Cheese: Is the differences done with 21 Savage?

22: I can't say all that 'cause you don't never know how they thinking, so you'll never know how we thinking.They come to the Rouge on the dumb shit we gotta stand up and show a nigga.

Say Cheese: What if they come out here and they not fucking with nobody? They just shooting videos and shit like that. Is it cool or is it a no fly zone right now?

22: Right now, as far as what they said it's a no fly zone. I don't nothing else to say on that.

WASHINGTON (AP) — President Barack Obama has put Russia's Vladimir Putin on notice that the U.S. could use offensive cyber muscle to retaliate for interference in the U.S. presidential election, his strongest suggestion to date that Putin had been well aware of campaign email hacking.

"Whatever they do to us, we can potentially do to them," Obama declared Friday.

Caught in the middle of a post-election controversy over Russian hacking, Obama strongly defended his administration's response, including his refusal before the voting to ascribe motive to the meddling or to discuss now what effect it might have had. U.S. intelligence assessments say it was aimed at least in part on helping Donald Trump defeat Hillary Clinton, and some Democrats say it may well have tipped the results in his favor.

Though Obama avoided criticizing President-elect Trump by name, he called out Republicans who he said fail even now to acknowledge the seriousness of Russia's involvement in U.S. elections.

Obama expressed bewilderment about GOP lawmakers and voters who now say they approve of Putin, and he said unless that changes the U.S. will be vulnerable to foreign influence.

"Ronald Reagan would roll over in his grave," Obama said as he closed out the year at a White House news conference. Afterward he left for the family's annual vacation in Hawaii.

Obama declined to state explicitly that Putin knew about the email hacking that roiled the presidential race, but he left no doubt who he felt was responsible. He said that "not much happens in Russia without Vladimir Putin" and repeated a U.S. intelligence assessment "that this happened at the highest levels of the Russian government."

Obama said he confronted Putin in September, telling the former KGB chief to "cut it out." That was one month before the U.S. publicly pointed the finger at Russia. Suggesting his directive to Putin had been effective, Obama said the U.S. "did not see further tampering" after that date.

The president has promised a "proportional" yet unspecified response to the hacking of the Democratic Party and Clinton's campaign chairman. Emails stolen during the campaign were released in the final weeks by WikiLeaks. On Friday, CIA Director John Brennan said in a message to employees that the FBI agrees with the CIA's conclusion that Russia's goal was to help Trump win.

Trump has dismissed the CIA's assessment and talk about Russian hacking as "ridiculous," while arguing both Democrats and the CIA are trying to undermine the legitimacy of his victory. He made no mention of the hacking — or of Obama — during the latest stop on his "thank you" tour in Orlando, Florida, Friday night.

Clinton has even more directly cited Russian interference. She said Thursday night, "Vladimir Putin himself directed the covert cyberattacks against our electoral system, against our democracy, apparently because he has a personal beef against me."

Obama said he'd leave it to political pundits to debate the question of whether the hacking swayed the election outcome. He did, however, chide the media for that he called an "obsession" with the emails that were made public during the election's final stretch.

Accusations of Russian election interference have heightened the already tense relationship between Washington and Moscow. Separately, Obama has blamed Russia for standing in the way of international efforts to stop the civil war in Syria, where government forces have beaten back rebels in Aleppo.

Buses are seen parked in Aleppo’s government controlled area of Ramouseh, as they wait to take civilians and rebels from eastern Aleppo on Thursday.

Obama said he feels "responsible" for some of the suffering in Syria, but he defended his decision to avoid significant military action there. He said that while military options short of invasion were tempting, it was "impossible to do this on the cheap."

Still, he pinned the bulk of the blame on Russia, as well as Iran, for propping up Syrian President Bashar Assad.

"This blood and these atrocities are on their hands," he said.

Meanwhile, the president rejected any notion that the dispute over hacking was disrupting efforts to smoothly transfer power to Trump. Despite fiercely criticizing each other during the election, Obama and Trump have spoken multiple times since the campaign ended.

"He has listened," Obama said of Trump. "I can't say he will end up implementing. But the conversations themselves have been cordial."

(Houston Chronicle) The video of University of Oklahoma running back Joe Mixon brutally punching a female student in 2014 was released by Mixon's attorney Friday.

The Oklahoma Supreme Court ruled on Dec. 6 that the city of Norman should release the video showing the punch to the Oklahoma Association of Broadcasters, which had sued for access to the video under the Open Records Act. The city had not released the video yet.

"While Mr. Mixon is not a party to the OAB lawsuit and has not been directed by the Court to make any disclosure, he does not see any reason for the release of the recording at issue in that lawsuit to be delayed any longer," Mixon's attorney, Blake Johnson, wrote in a letter.

"Further delay appears only to be generating unfounded speculation about what is shown in that video," the attorney wrote. "We also see no reason to withhold the second recording we received from Ms. Molitor's attorneys and so have included it as well."

Mixon, 20, accepted a plea to the misdemeanor charge of acts resulting in gross injury.

Andrea Molitor, the student, suffered several broken bones in her face as a result of the punch. She is suing Mixon.

The running back was suspended for the 2014 season before playing his freshman year in 2015. He played 11 games for the Sooners this season.

The university issued a statement following the release of the video:

"University officials were made aware of the content of the video prior to taking action with respect to Joe Mixon. Based on that information, the university immediately suspended and removed Mr. Mixon from the football team for one year, during which high standards of conduct were expected and maintained. It was made clear to Mr. Mixon at the time of his suspension that violence against women will not go unpunished at the university. Coach (Bob) Stoops has been proactive in presenting training for his team aimed at preventing such behavior in the future. Sensitivity training in the area of violence has been intensified and best practices will continue to be implemented. Mr. Mixon has apologized for his actions and the university hopes that it is an indication that he has learned from his mistakes. We are an educational institution where we hope young people will learn from their mistakes and chart a better future course."

Releasing the video of the punch now avoids the possibility the city of Norman would release it days before OU plays Auburn in the Sugar Bowl.

"Mr. Mixon asked us to once again say he is sorry for the way he reacted that night. He has apologized publicly to Ms. Molitor, her friends, his family, teammates and the University," Johnson wrote in the letter. "He hopes that his voluntary release of these recordings will help put this matter to rest."

Multifaceted actor, rapper and business mogul, Curtis "50 Cent" Jackson, has landed a role in the upcoming crime thriller Den of Thieves.

Deadline reports that Gerard Butler stars in the lead role of the film that is described as “a Los Angeles crime saga in the vein of Heat." It's scheduled to begin production in Atlanta, Georgia on January 9.

Christian Gudegast, who co-wrote the original screenplay with Paul Sheuring, will sit in the director's chair.

Plot via Deadline: Den of Thieves follows the intersecting and often personally connected lives of an elite unit of the L.A. County Sheriff’s Department and the state’s most successful bank robbery crew as they plan a seemingly impossible heist on the Federal Reserve Bank of downtown Los Angeles. Jackson, whose film credits include Spy and Southpaw, will play the character Enson, who is part of the gang of what will be an ensemble cast of characters. Butler plays a corrupt cop named ‘Big Nick’ Flanagan.
