A federal grand jury in Florida has been meeting in special counsel Jack Smith's investigation of Trump’s handling of classified documents, according to sources familiar with the investigation.
The Florida grand jury is separate from a panel that was convened in Washington, D.C.
The investigation began last year when the National Archives alerted the FBI that government documents Trump had returned after having been out of office for about a year included 184 that were marked classified. Trump has denied any wrongdoing.
Trump & his allies have tried to make the indictment about President Joe Biden, but Biden & Attorney General Merrick Garland have sought to insulate themselves from the case.

CNN— A woman has been arrested in connection with the death of Ajike “AJ” Owens, the Black mom who was fatally shot last week in central Florida after knocking on a neighbor’s door.
Susan Louise Lorincz, 58, was arrested on charges of manslaughter with a firearm, culpable negligence, battery & 2 counts of assault.
Lorincz, who is White, was taken into custody Tuesday night.
Authorities say Owens was shot through the door of her neighbor’s home near Ocala, Florida, on Friday. Her family has accused Lorincz of yelling at Owens’ children & calling them racial slurs prior to the shooting.
Lorincz claimed that she acted in self defense & that Owens had been trying to break down her door prior to her discharging her firearm. Lorincz also said Owens had come after her in the past & had previously attacked her.
One witness told a sheriff’s deputy that children were playing in a nearby field before the shooting & a dispute ensued as the neighbor picked up an electronic tablet that 1 of the children left on the ground.
The shooter “engaged” with Owens’ children & threw a pair of skates at them, hitting at least 1.
One of Owens’ children then went home & told the mother what had happened, prompting Owens to walk over to the neighbor’s house & knock on the door.
As Owens confronted the neighbor, Owens was shot through the door.
“Through their investigation – including obtaining the statements of eyewitnesses who only came forward as late as yesterday – detectives were able to establish that Lorincz’s actions were not justifiable under Florida law,” the sheriff’s office said.
Marion County Sheriff Billy Woods said Monday that investigators had to consider Florida’s “stand your ground” law before making an arrest.
