SANTA ANA, Calif. (KABC) -- The rapper known as Silento was arrested for alleged domestic violence and assault with a deadly weapon in two separate incidents in as many days in Orange County and Los Angeles, authorities said.

The rapper, whose real name is Richard Lamar Hawk, was taken into custody on Friday by Santa Ana police after a report of a domestic disturbance in the 100 block of MacArthur Boulevard, authorities said. He was booked and released on a charge of inflicting corporal injury on a spouse or cohabitant.

The following day, Hawk allegedly went to a random home in the 12700 block of Burbank Boulevard in Valley Village while wielding a hatchet. According to the LAPD, he entered the strangers' residence while searching for his girlfriend. The homeowners and their children were home at the time and were shaken by the intrusion but unharmed, investigators said.

Hawk was arrested by Los Angels police officers about a block away from the resident and later charged by the Los Angeles County district attorney's office with two counts of assault with a deadly weapon.

Using the stage name Silento, Hawk rocketed to fame in 2015 when his hit single "Watch Me (Whip/Nae Nae)" topped the charts. The song inspired a dance craze at the time, along with countless social media videos of fans performing the individual dances.

"Watch Me (Whip/Nae Nae)" has since been viewed more than 1.7 billion times on YouTube.

New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo on Wednesday all but threatened President Trump’s safety if he returns to New York City in a rant responding to an exclusive story by The Post that Trump is looking to pull federal funds from “lawless” cities including New York.

Cuomo called an emergency press briefing within a half-hour on Wednesday night to tear into Trump for the order, which cites New York’s rising murder rate and defunding of the NYPD.

“He better have an army if he thinks he’s gonna walk down the street in New York. New Yorkers don’t want to have anything to do with him,” the Democrat said, all but threatening the commander-in-chief.

But Cuomo — who, like Trump, hails from Queens — wasn’t done. “He can’t have enough bodyguards to walk through New York City, people don’t want to have anything to do with him.”

On substance, Cuomo said he doubted the legality of Trump’s five-page memo ordering a review of federal funds that can be redirected from New York City, Portland, Seattle and Washington, DC.

“It is more of the same from him. It’s political, it is gratuitous. And it’s illegal. But it is another attempt to kill New York City,” Cuomo said.

“President Ford said drop dead. President Trump has been actively trying to kill New York City since he’s been elected,” he said.

In highly personal and insulting language, Cuomo speculated that Trump wasn’t upset about New York’s soaring murder rate and shootings.

“I think it’s because he is from New York City and New York City rejected him, always,” Cuomo said. “He was dismissed as a clown in New York City, those who know him best, like him least.”

Cuomo jeered: “He was disrespected in New York City. Nobody took him seriously and he was just a tabloid cartoon.”

SAN FRANCISCO (AP) — A San Francisco Bay Area police officer was charged Wednesday with voluntary manslaughter in the shooting death of a Black man inside a Walmart store in April.

The charge was filed Wednesday in the April 18 killing of Steven Taylor, 33, when San Leandro Police Officer Jason Fletcher, 49, responded to a call about an alleged shoplifter inside the store who was holding a baseball bat.

A 20-year veteran, Fletcher did not wait for backup and instead tried to grab the bat from Taylor, then fired his Taser and his service weapon, all in less than 40 seconds, Alameda County District Attorney Nancy O’Malley said in a news release.

“Officer Fletcher’s actions, coupled with his failure to attempt other de-escalation options rendered his use of deadly force unreasonable,” O’Malley said.

Taylor’s family is encouraged by the decision, said a statement issued by their lawyer.

“Mr. Taylor was suffering a mental health crisis and did not represent a threat to officers or the general public before being Tased and shot to death,” the statement said. “Although this is an important first step in seeking justice, the family is eager to see Fletcher convicted and appropriately sentenced.”

Police were called to the store by a security guard who reported a possible robbery. Fletcher, the first officer to arrive, clarified with the security guard that it was not a robbery, then he relayed that information through his police radio, prosecutors said.

“Officer Fletcher did not wait for his cover officer and immediately contacted Mr. Taylor in the shopping cart area,” they said.

Surveillance video showed Fletcher pulled out his service pistol at the same time he tried to take the bat from Taylor. Taylor pulled the bat from Fletcher’s grasp and stepped away.

Shortly after, Fletcher shot Taylor twice with his taser. As Taylor struggled to remain standing, Fletcher shot him in the chest with his service weapon just as another officer arrived in the store, prosecutors said.

“A thorough review of the statements of witnesses and involved police officers, physical evidence and the review of multiple videos of the shooting shows that at the time of the shooting it was not reasonable to conclude Mr. Taylor posed an imminent threat of death or great bodily injury to Officer Fletcher or to anyone else in the store,” O’Malley said.

Taylor’s family has said that the officers should have tried to de-escalate the situation without firing their weapons.

“Yes, he was homeless. Yes, he had mental issues. Yes, he was Black,” his grandmother, Addie Kitchen, said at a rally last month for Taylor. “But does that mean we murder homeless people? That police can kill people with mental issues? I want to see that nothing like this happens again.”

San Leandro Police Chief Jeff Tudor said in a statement it was important to allow “the judicial process to take its course” and referred all questions to the district attorney’s office.

“As the Police Chief of San Leandro, I know the loss of Steven Taylor has deeply affected this community,” Tudor said.

Fletcher is expected to be arraigned Sept. 15.

(CNN) — The award-winning R&B singer Akon is going ahead with ambitious plans to build a "futuristic" city in Senegal that he says will be a real-life version of Wakanda, the hi-tech nation portrayed in Marvel blockbuster "Black Panther."

On Monday, Akon, real name Aliaume Damala Badara Akon Thiam, laid the first stone for Akon city in Mbodiene park, 100 kilometers from Dakar, the country's capital city, and said work would begin next year.

"We are looking at Akon city to become the beginning of Africa's future," he said at the ceremony also attended by Alioune Sarr, Senegal's minister for tourism, and other government officials. "Our idea is to build a futuristic city that incorporates all the latest technologies, cryptocurrencies, and also the future of how African society should become in the future."

According to its official website, the solar-powered city will have healthcare facilities, offices, luxury houses, shopping malls, skyscrapers, and eco-friendly tourist centers. It will be a five-minute drive from the country's new international airport.

The singer was gifted 2,000 acres of land by Senegalese President Macky Sall to build the ambitious city. Akon also said he has raised part of the $6 billion required to do so through unnamed investors.
He first announced his idea for the idealistic city back in 2018 where compared it to the fictional technologically advanced nation of Wakanda portrayed in "Black Panther."

The plan is for Akon city to trade exclusively in its own digital cash currency (cryptocurrency) called Akoin.

Unlike other cryptocurrencies tied to stable currencies, Akoin is tied to cellphone minutes and relies on the use of smartphones.

According to the singer, more people in Africa trust their cellphone companies more than they trust local currency.

Video After The Jump

AP - A Black man who had run naked through the streets of a western New York city died of asphyxiation after a group of police officers put a hood over his head, then pressed his face into the pavement for two minutes, according to video and records released Wednesday by the man’s family.

Daniel Prude died March 30 after he was taken off life support, seven days after the encounter with police in Rochester. His death received no public attention until Wednesday, when his family held a news conference and released police body camera video and written reports they obtained through a public records request.

“I placed a phone call for my brother to get help. Not for my brother to get lynched,” Prude’s brother, Joe Prude, said at a news conference. “How did you see him and not directly say, ‘The man is defenseless, buck naked on the ground. He’s cuffed up already. Come on.’ How many more brothers gotta die for society to understand that this needs to stop?”

The videos show Prude, who had taken off his clothes, complying when police ask him to get on the ground and put his hands behind his back. Prude is agitated and shouting as he sits on the pavement in handcuffs for a few moments as a light snow falls. “Give me your gun, I need it,” he shouts.

Then, they put a white “spit hood” over his head, a device intended to protect officers from a detainee’s saliva. At the time, New York was in the early days of the coronavirus pandemic.

Prude demands they remove it.

Then the officers slam Prude’s head into the street. One officer, who is white, holds his head down against the pavement with both hands, saying “calm down” and “stop spitting.” Another officer places a knee on his back.

“Trying to kill me!” Prude says, his voice becoming muffled and anguished under the hood.

“OK, stop. I need it. I need it,” the prone man begs before his shouts turn to whimpers and grunts.

The officers appear to become concerned after he stops moving, falls silent and they notice water coming out of Prude’s mouth.

“My man. You puking?” one says.

One officer notes that he’s been out, naked, in the street for some time. Another remarks, “He feels pretty cold.”

His head had been held down by an officer for just over two minutes, the video shows.

The officers then remove the hood and his handcuffs and medics can then be seen performing CPR before he’s loaded into an ambulance.

Spit hoods have been scrutinized as a factor in the deaths of several prisoners in the U.S. and other countries in recent years.

A medical examiner concluded that Prude’s death was a homicide caused by “complications of asphyxia in the setting of physical restraint.” The report lists excited delirium and acute intoxication by phencyclidine, or PCP, as contributing factors.

(CNN) Minnesota Vikings quarterback Kirk Cousins is taking a controversial approach to Covid-19 for a man of his stature.

"If I die, I die," he said Wednesday during an interview on Spotify's "10 Questions With Kyle Brandt" podcast. On it, Cousins said he's taking a "survival of the fittest" approach to the pandemic.

"If I get it, I'm gonna ride it out," Cousins said. "I'm gonna let nature do its course. Survival-of-the-fittest kind of approach. And just say, if it knocks me out, it knocks me out. I'm going to be OK. You know, even if I die. If I die, I die. I kind of have peace about that."

Brandt asked Cousins his concern level on getting the virus, on a scale from 1-10, "1 is the person who says, 'Masks are stupid, you're all a bunch of lemmings' and 10 is, 'I'm not leaving my master bathroom for the next 10 years."

The quarterback replied, "I'm about a .000001."

"I want to respect what other people's concerns are," he said. "For me personally, just talking, no one else can get the virus. What is your concern if you could get it? I would say I'm gonna go about my daily life."

Cousins said his "opinion of wearing a mask is really about being respectful to other people. It really has nothing to do with my own personal thoughts."

The athlete's overall remarks go against some of the top doctors and infectious disease experts in the country, who have warned Americans to wear face masks and practice social distancing to prevent the the virus's spread. Already in the US, more than 6 million cases of the virus have been reported and more than 184,000 people have died -- making the US one of the hardest-hit countries in the world.

And the concept of "survival of the fittest" -- trumpeted by some hoping that the US might reach "herd immunity" at some point in the near future -- of course suggests that those who aren't fit don't survive. That would mean millions more dead Americans.

"Waiting for the virus to 'immunize' the population is a very Darwinian concept, survival of the fittest," Dr. William Schaffner, professor of infectious diseases at Vanderbilt University, told CNN in July after Sen. Rand Paul claimed that millions of people who have been infected by the virus were now essentially blocking its spread. "We generally try to avoid that in public health," said Schaffner.

Cousins and the Vikings are expected to begin their season late this month.

The team has already announced that it will not allow fans for the first two home games of the season due to the pandemic.

MELVILLE, N.Y. (AP) — Authorities are investigating a Long Island bar that posted on Instagram that it was taking bets on whether Chicago or New York City would see more shootings over Labor Day weekend.

The Cliffton, a bar in Patchogue, New York, shared photos of a paper grid hung in the bar with patrons placing bets on the number of shootings in the two cities, Newsday reported Tuesday. The winner would take home an unspecified cash prize.

The betting is “not only sickening, but also appears illegal under the Alcoholic Beverage Control law,” the State Liquor Authority said in a statement to the newspaper.

The state’s alcohol and beverage law prohibits gambling at establishments with a liquor license, with few exceptions.

The caption of the post read, “Let the shooting sprees begin!” the newspaper reported. The Cliffton’s Instagram page is private.

“These reports are repugnant and those responsible for this gambling pool should be ashamed,” Rich Azzopardi, a spokesman for Gov. Andrew Cuomo, said to the newspaper.

The Long Island bar also refused to let representatives of the State Liquor Authority conduct an inspection this week, the newspaper reported, which the agency says is itself grounds to revoke the bar’s liquor license.

Brian Neal, owner of The Cliffton, did not return a request for comment from the newspaper.

“All it does is raise the angst and anger of others,” Patchogue Mayor Paul Pontieri said. “To be buying a box to see how many people die is something I cannot fathom. It’s not who we are as a community.”

On Monday the music world was shocked by reports that A$AP Ferg had been kicked out of A$AP Mob.

A$AP Illz, the co-founder of the rap collective, made an announcement via his Instagram story that seemed to confirm the split.

“Ferg aint ASAP NO MORE sorry guys," Illz wrote. "That nigga burnt out, songs dumb trash Mr. Anthem can’t get right. Niggas be your mans to try to pick your brain and steal not to be loyal and real."

A$AP Bari later backed up what Illz said.

However, last night A$AP Nast offered a completely different take on the situation.

"THE TRAP LORD WAS NOT AND WILL NOT BE KICKED OUT OF A$AP FALSE NEWS EVERYBODY GO HOME NOW #ASAPFOREVER," Nast tweeted. "DISPUTES HAPPEN IN FAMILYS ALL OVER THE WORLD EVERYDAY B! ITS EXTREMELY EMBARRASSING AND UNNECESSARY FOR IT TO HAPPEN THE WAY IT DID BUT IT DID AND THIS WILL BE TAKEN CARE OF THE RIGHT WAY GOODNIGHT YALL."

Ferg has been one of the most commercially successful members of the group, alongside A$AP Rocky. Hopefully, all of this can be worked out behind closed doors.

The tributes to Chadwick Boseman keep pouring in, and the latest honor for the late "Black Panther" star is all about education.

Walter Mayfield, principal at T. L. Hanna High School in South Carolina where the actor attended, tells TMZ ... they're forming the Chadwick Boseman Memorial Scholarship for a yearly honor to a deserving student.

Mayfield says the goal is to create a sustainable scholarship for years to come, and the school is aiming to raise $100k toward that end. The principal says a bunch of people have already reached out about contributing in Chadwick's honor -- without even publicizing the idea yet -- so they're off to a good start.

We're told the school is trying to work with Boseman's family on the plan -- Mayfield feels it's essential they be involved to help formulate criteria for the award.

Chadwick's former H.S. basketball coach, Wayne Jones, is pushing for the school to retire the number he used to wear -- 32 -- in his memory.

He tells us the cinematic superhero was an all-around solid player on the court who played 4 years on the varsity squad ... and could do a little bit of everything. T. L. Hanna has never retired a number before, but Principal Mayfield says this is the time to consider it.

If the Boseman scholarship gets up and running, it will be the second one in honor of a T. L. Hanna legend ... the first is James "Radio" Kennedy. His scholarship goes to a student pursuing a career in special ed.

As we told you ... Chadwick's South Carolina hometown is also set to honor him soon.

Rihanna's still in love with Chris Brown ... and she probably always will be.

RiRi made the revelation to Oprah on her 'Supersoul Conversations' podcast nearly 12 years after Brown's brutal attack -- punching Rihanna and threatening to kill her during an argument in his car.

She told O ... she and Chris have been working on their friendship again and are now very, very close friends -- "We've built up a trust again, and that's ... we love each other and we probably always will." Rihanna added, "That's not something we're ever going to change. That's not something you can shut off, if you've ever been in love."

Rihanna -- who made news after following CB on Twitter back in 2011 -- also admitted that not long ago they also hung out while in St. Tropez after hitting up a mutual friend's party. She said her stomach turns when she sees him because, again, she still loves him.

CB opened up back in 2017 about that horrific night back ... revealing in his documentary, "Chris Brown: Welcome to My Life," he tasted blood on that night while also admitting there were MULTIPLE violent incidents during his relationship with Rihanna.

That's all behind them now, according to Rihanna, who said, "I truly love him. So, the main thing for me is that he's at peace. I'm not at peace if he's a little unhappy or he's still lonely."

Oprah also asked Rihanna if there's a chance she'll ever get back with CB ... and she seemed to be open about it saying, "He's in a relationship of his own. I'm single but we have maintained a very close friendship ever since the restraining order has been dropped. We've just worked on it, little by little, and it has not been easy. It's not easy."
