Although Chadwick Boseman knew for years he had terminal cancer, we now know he died without writing a will, but he made a key move months before his death to financially protect his wife.

The "Black Panther" star's widow, Taylor Simone Ledward, has filed probate docs, obtained by TMZ, in which she asks to be named administrator of Chadwick's estate. Taylor has to file the docs in probate court because he did not leave a will.

That seems odd considering Chadwick was diagnosed with colon cancer 4 years ago, and knew it was terminal. However, that also puts his marriage to Taylor, who he reportedly dated since 2015, in a new light ... and here's why.

They got engaged in late 2019, and reportedly tied the knot at some point in 2020. That's important because when a person dies without a will and without children, their surviving spouse inherits all the assets of the probate estate.

According to the docs, Taylor gets nearly $1 million in personal property and assets, but that's not a true reflection of Chadwick's wealth and success. Most likely the majority of his assets are held in separate private trusts.

In the docs, Taylor notes Chadwick is also survived by his 2 parents.

As you know, he was diagnosed with stage III colon cancer in 2016 and it progressed to stage IV as he silently battled through it. Chadwick died in his home surrounded by his wife and family.

ATLANTA — Authorities have announced an arrest in the shooting death of a beloved Atlanta actor who starred in several Spike Lee movies.

Antonio Demetrice Rhynes was arrested early Friday morning along North Camp Creek Parkway.

Ryhnes is accused of shooting and killing Thomas Jefferson Byrd earlier this month in southwest Atlanta.

Byrd starred in several of Lee’s films, including: “Clockers,” “Get on the Bus,” “Bamboozled,” “He Got Game,” “Red Hook Summer,” “Chi-Raq” and more.

The 30-year-old is being booked into the Fulton County Jail. He is facing felony murder charges.

Friends say Byrd was not just an actor, he was an activist trying to make this world a better place.

Juliette McCann grew up with Byrd in Griffin. They went to high school together and kept in contact. Byrd recently sent McCann a text with a message for her children.

“He said to make sure you tell them to stay prayerful and that Black lives matter,” McCann said. “We had no idea that that would be our last conversation.”

Another friend of Byrd’s, Oscar Sheppard, said he is still trying to process that his good friend is gone.

“No matter what he was doing or where he was, I got calls from him,” Sheppard said.

McCann called Byrd a trailblazer and said he once returned to her school to choreograph a student performance for Black History Month.

“Believe me when I tell you that performance was absolutely awesome,” McCann said.

A suspect accused of attacking two Los Angeles police officers inside a police station — pistol-whipping one with his own gun and open firing on another — has been charged with attempted murder, prosecutors said.

Jose Cerpa Guzman, 29, of Los Angeles, was charged Tuesday with two counts of attempted murder and related charges in the brazen late Saturday assault inside the Harbor Community police station in San Pedro, Los Angeles County District Attorney Jackie Lacey said.

Prosecutors said Guzman entered the police station and got into an argument with an officer just before 10 p.m. He left but came back and allegedly started attacking an officer.

Video of the onslaught obtained by the Los Angeles Times shows a suspect identified by cops as Guzman knocking the officer to the floor before grabbing his gun and striking him at least four times in the head with the weapon.

Police sources told the newspaper Guzman then tried to shoot the officer — repeatedly squeezing the firearm’s trigger — while pointing the weapon at his chest, but a safety mechanism stopped it from going off.

Guzman then ran out of the station and exchanged gunfire with a watch commander. No one was hurt in the shooting, while the officer who was pistol-whipped had “bumps and bruises” in what LAPD Chief Michel Moore has called a “brutal and immediate assault” that he was lucky to survive.

Moore said Tuesday investigators were still going over all facets of the case, according to the Los Angeles Times.

“Why this officer was not shot by this assailant is unclear, but I’m grateful,” Moore said.

Guzman was taken into custody a short time later, Lacey said. Prosecutors recommended his bail be set at $2.2 million and he faces up to life in state prison if convicted.

A motive in the attack remains unclear and investigators are still looking into how Guzman was able to get into the police station’s front lobby, CBS Los Angeles reported.

It’s unclear if Guzman had hired an attorney ahead of his scheduled arraignment Tuesday, the Los Angeles Times reported.

Robert Harris, director of the Los Angeles Police Protective League, said the harrowing attack is an example of the extreme dangers cop face every day.

“I know there are people in society that say, ‘This is what you signed up for,’” Harris told NBC Los Angeles. “No, this is not what we signed up for. We are a reflection of the communities we serve — [an] attack on us is an attack on the community.”

(CNN) An unidentified man was seen flying in a jetpack near the Los Angeles International Airport ... again.

The man was spotted by a flight crew around 1:45 p.m. Wednesday, the Federal Aviation Administration confirmed to CNN.

"A China Airlines crew reported seeing what appeared to be someone in a jet pack at an approximate altitude of 6,000 feet, about seven miles northwest of Los Angeles International Airport," the FAA said in a statement.

The FAA said it alerted local law enforcement agencies and are investigating the report.
Similar sightings of a man in a jetpack near LAX were reported to the FAA in September.

An American Airlines flight was the first to report a "guy in a jetpack" at the plane's' altitude of 3,000 feet above Los Angeles International Airport on September 1. The aircraft's crew said that the man was approximately 30 yards away from the aircraft. About 10 minutes later, another plane spotted the man.

The FBI is investigating the incidents.

"The FBI is in contact with the FAA and is investigating multiple reports of what, according to witnesses, appeared to be an individual in a jetpack near LAX, including one today reported by a China Airlines crew," FBI Los Angeles Field Office spokeswoman Laura Eimiller said Wednesday.

CNN has reached out to LAX for comment. There are no additional details at this time.

CNN obtained the audio between air traffic control and American and JetBlue flight crews from the September 1 incident. According to the communications, air traffic control warned a JetBlue flight to "use caution... person on a jetpack reported 300 yards south."

After the plane acknowledged the instruction, the controller concluded with: "Only in LA."

In the latest clip, Crunchy Black spoke on the death of his oldest daughter Ashley. While the Three 6 Mafia member said he has five children, he referred to Ashley as his "heart." He explained that he's still grieving and revealed that Ashley called him in the middle of the night before the shooting, but he was asleep. The rapper said his oldest son woke him up with the news and he was in denial until his brother confirmed.

Crunchy Black explained that he shut down and was ready to do something about the tragic incident before adding that if she received the love that she's currently receiving while she was alive, then she likely wouldn't have been in the situation that led to her death. Crunchy Black also stated that her death was caused by anything she did, but what her boyfriend was involved in.
