LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — A man was taken into police custody in connection with a Ring doorbell video that showed him knocking on the door of a downtown Las Vegas home and making a threat to “rape and kill” the woman inside.
That woman, Amanda Nowak, is thanking police and wrote in a post on her Facebook page Thursday “the power of using social media is strong and this proves so! Thank you, everyone! I’m just glad he’s off the streets.”
The incident happened on Wednesday evening on S. 6th Street near Charleston and Las Vegas boulevards when Nowak was home alone. She didn’t know the man at her door.
In the Ring video, the man can be heard repeatedly asking, “Are you sure? Are you positive? I just have a few questions for you.”
A few moments later, the man walks away from the home.
Police did respond to Nowak’s home and the 911 operator stayed on the phone with her through the entire ordeal.
Nowak posted the Ring doorbell video on social media after the incident to alert others about the man.
The man was later arrested in the area of East Clark Avenue and South 3rd Street after someone recognized him from the photos on social media. A nearby District Court Marshal took the man into custody.
He was booked into the Clark County Detention Center on the following charges:
*Stalking
*Coercion
*Obstructing a Police Officer
Police say the man is still unidentified at this point. He was booked into CCDC as a “John Doe.”
Police say they will release additional details on the arrest as the investigation evolves.
Nowak says she never responded to the man, hid in her home, and called 911. Nowak’s husband, who was not at the home, accessed the intercom system and asked the man who he was.
The man responded, “What I’m looking for is the girl in the house cause I’m going to rape her and kill her. Can you have her open the door?” He then adds he has a knife and a gun.

In the latest chapter of Baton Rouge rap drama, two local rappers were arrested this week in Miami after federal agents searched a south Florida house belonging to Fredo Bang and arrested his associate Lit Yoshi, who was already out on $1.82 million bond & now faces additional charges stemming from yet another gang shooting.
The raid came after investigators linked Lit Yoshi, whose real name is Mieyoshi Edwards, to an April 2020 shooting in Slidell & several months after a Baton Rouge judge told him to stop treating his house arrest as a "paid vacation" in south Florida.
Edwards, 22, was already facing seven counts of attempted first-degree murder in Baton Rouge. His existing charges stemmed from two shootings that detectives attributed to a simmering feud between rival Baton Rouge record labels. Edwards moved to Florida after posting bond last August, a move the judge called prudent for his safety.
He was living in Miami with Fredo Bang, whose real name is Fredrick Givens. Both young men have established themselves as relatively successful rappers and are members of the Top Boy Gorilla gang, which goes by TBG.
Givens was on parole after pleading guilty to illegal use of weapons and simple criminal damage to property following a 2015 shooting outside a Baton Rouge apartment complex. He was arrested Thursday on a parole violation after police and federal agents found firearms inside his house and a stolen car outside, his attorney confirmed.
Law enforcement officials had previously announced they were investigating Givens & Edwards in connection with a May 2019 shooting in Miami targeting NBA YoungBoy, founder of a rival rap gang. Neither has been charged in that case, though a judge ruled in February that evidence from the Miami incident and the Slidell shooting could be used against Edwards in his ongoing attempted murder case.

At this rate, Dr. Dre’s wallet is going to be straight outta cash.
The 56-year-old music mogul was ordered to pay his estranged wife, Nicole Young, $293,306 per month in spousal support beginning on Aug. 1, according to court documents obtained by Page Six on Thursday.
The former NWA member will have to keep paying the massive amount to Young until she remarries or enters into a domestic partnership — or unless the court orders otherwise at a later date.
Dre was also ordered to continue paying expenses for the Malibu and Pacific Palisades homes that the couple once shared, which makes sense as a source familiar with the case told Page Six that he owns these homes outright.
The source also said the spousal support figure is consistent with what he’s been paying already and is a fraction of the $2 million per month that Young asked the court for in September 2020.
The couple is due back in court Thursday for another hearing.
Young, 51, first filed to divorce Dre, 56, in June 2020. The couple was married for 24 years and have two adult children, 24-year-old son Truice and 20-year-old daughter Truly.
He began giving her temporary spousal support two months after the filing.
The former couple had a prenuptial agreement in place and Dre’s estimated net worth is currently around $800 million.
They asked a California judge to sign off on legally ending their marriage in April 2021, despite the fact that they were still hammering out their divorce details.

MOBILE, Ala. (WALA) - A Mobile County judge revoked the probation of Mobile rapper “HoneyKomb Brazy."
The rapper, whose real name is Nashon Jones, was on probation for a conviction on a charge of being a felon in possession of a firearm.
He only served 18 months of a 15-year sentence, but now the DA's office said he'll have to serve the rest of the time.
Prosecutors asked the judge to send him back to prison for violating the terms of that probation. Prosecutors presented 15 video clips showing Jones with guns or drugs.
The defense argued that those were stage props for music videos. Even if true, the judge wrote in his order, that does not explain a shootout that the defendant was present for in Montgomery. His associates traded gunfire with unknown assailants. Jones later posted an account of the incident on social media.
Prosecutors also accused Jones of failing to check in with his probation officer. The defendant implied that he ignored an order to report to the probation officer because he feared his life was in danger following the killing of his grandparents, Tony & Leila Lewis.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (Yahoo News) A Franklin County man is accused of leaving his wife in a pickup truck for five days after she asked him to take her to the hospital — so long that when she arrived at the hospital, her skin was stuck to the seat & waste was leaking out of the vehicle, the sheriff’s office said.
She “has numerous sores & places where her skin is deteriorating,” a police citation stated.
When the woman arrived at Frankfort Regional Medical Center Saturday, the hospital called Frankfort EMS for a medical lift assist to help get her out of the truck. When EMS workers started to help her, they “noticed that she was sticking to the seat,” the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office said in a uniform citation filed in Franklin District Court.
EMS responders said she was “covered in feces & urine,” which was also leaking out of the side of the truck.
The woman told the sheriff’s office that she relies on her husband, Michael Redmon, as her caregiver & had been in the truck since July 12, when she had asked him to take her to the hospital. She said she “asked for help from the truck several times,” but that Redmon did not help her out of the vehicle or take her to the hospital until July 17, according to the police citation.
Redmon, 51, is charged with first-degree criminal abuse. He remained in the Franklin County Regional Jail Tuesday night.

Maria Taylor and ESPN are divorcing – and she is expected to end up with NBC and at the Olympics, The Post has learned.
Taylor, 34, leaves ESPN just weeks after a year-old private tape of leaked comments in which fellow NBA host/reporter Rachel Nichols’ alleged ESPN gave Taylor the Finals hosting job to make up for what Nichols described as the network’s “crappy longtime record on diversity.”
For NBC, if a contract is completed, Taylor is expected to be part of its forthcoming Olympic coverage that begins in earnest on Friday.
While several sources said Taylor is headed to NBC, nothing is official yet.
After The Post broke the news of ESPN and Taylor’s failure to reach a new contract agreement, the network’s chairman Jimmy Pitaro & Taylor released a joint statement. Pitaro said, “there is no doubt we will miss Maria,” adding, “While she chose to purse a new opportunity, we are proud of the work we’ve done together.”
Taylor said she was “So thankful to Jimmy and all of my great teammates.” She did not address what is next for her.
If the NBC deal is finalized, she also could be waiting in the on-deck circle to become the host of “Football Night in America,” when Mike Tirico moves to the full-time “Sunday Night” Football play-by-play position in the fall of 2022. It is not fully set that Taylor will replace Tirico, but seems as if it could be a potential fit. Taylor could also have a role on Notre Dame football this season.
