A joke that Jamie Foxx made while onstage during the 2012 Soul Train Awards has gotten him in hot water with some religious groups.

"It's like church over here. It's like church in here. First of all, give an honor to God and our lord and savior Barack Obama. Barack Obama," Foxx said on the show, which aired on November 25th.

Many in the audience found humor in the joke, but not Rick Warren, pastor of Saddleback Church in southern California and author of "The Purpose-Driven Life."

That sent shivers up my spine,” Warren said, according to The Examiner. “There’s a word for that – it’s called blasphemy. It’s wrong. That’s called creating an idol. Idolatry is forbidden by the first two commandments of the Ten Commandments."

Bill Donahue, the president of the Catholic League for Religious and Civil Rights in the United States issued a statement regarding Foxx's comments.

"Foxx’s epiphany is startling. It just goes to show that even though Obama did not succeed in stopping the oceans from rising (as he promised to do in 2008), he did succeed in convincing Jamie Foxx, and no doubt legions of others, that God exists," Donahue wrote. "Whether God can survive an ACLU lawsuit accusing him of violating church and state grounds remains to be seen."

Donahue also points to a 2011 interview where a reporter asks Foxx what God means to him. He responded by saying: What does God mean to me? I don’t know, what does he mean to you?"

Fox News also got in on the debate during a recent segment on the Sean Hannity Show.

"The intellectually superior don’t need the crutch of religion," said radio host and Fox News commentator Mary Walter. "Those of us clinging to our guns and religion… we’re somehow less evolved. It’s about a societal religion as opposed to a church religion, because if the government gives you everything, the government becomes your religion, and he’s our leader.”

Foxx has responded to the uproar in an interview with ET's Nancy O'Dell.

"I'm a comic," Foxx says, "[and] sometimes I think people get a little too tight. And, it's getting a little tougher for us comedians [because] some people take it and want to make a huge story out of it, but it's a joke."

Is this all a big fuss over nothing? Or do the religious groups have a point?

Jordan Davis

Video After The Jump

In a case that is being compared to the Trayvon Martin killing, 17-year old Jordan Davis was shot to death on Friday at a Jacksonville gas station after he and several friends got into an argument with 45-year old Michael Dunn.

12349676497?profile=original

Michael Dunn

Dunn had pulled into the gas station with his girlfriend. While she was inside the station he got into a heated argument with a group of black teens in an SUV after he asked them to turn down their music.

Dunn claims he saw a gun in the SUV and felt threatened. He opened fire on the vehicle letting off eight shots, two of which struck and killed Davis.

Dunn, who is white is represented by attorney Robin Lemonidis. She told CNN that her client may seek protection under the state’s controversial Stand Your Ground Law.

"Self defense applies because Mr. Dunn was threatened," Lemonidis said. "We can't say what the defense will be at this stage … but Stand Your Ground is a possibility."

There were no guns found inside the teens' car, the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office said.

Ron Davis, the victim's father, is devastated. He said there was no justifiable reason for Davis to shoot at the SUV his son was riding in.

"He did something that there was no defense for," the father said of the suspect.

Ron added that his son was a good kid with no gang affiliation. He said the teens initially thought the gun Dunn pulled out was fake. When they realized it wasn't they tried to back up their vehicle before being caught in the gunfire.

Lemonidis says the four teens in the SUV were threatening to kill her client.

"Kill that motherf*cker. That motherf*cker's dead. You dead b*tch," are some of the threats that were shouted at Dunn according to Lemonidis. "And he sees a shotgun coming over the rim of the SUV, which is higher than his Jetta. All he sees are heavily tinted front windows that are up and the back windows that are down. And the car has at least four black men in it. And he doesn't know how old anybody is. He doesn't know anything, but he knows a shotgun when he sees one."

12349677668?profile=original

Lemomidis says any comparisons to the Trayvon Martin case are preposterous.

"That's ridiculous. Michael is not a vigilante," the attorney said. "He's a brilliant software developer. It was never his intention to kill anyone. There are no comparisons to the Trayvon Martin situation. [Dunn] is devastated and horrified by the death of the teen."

12349677291?profile=original

Dunn was arrested at his home on Saturday and charged with murder and attempted murder. He remains in jail after being denied bond on Monday.

What do you make of this case? Is it similar to what happened to Trayvon Martin?

50 Cent stopped by AMP Radio yesterday to chop it up with his old friend Carson Daly. The two discussed 50's meteoric rise to fame, how Eminem saved his career when he signed him, Young Buck and The Game turning their backs on him after he helped to launch their careers and his new single "My Life" which features Em and Adam Levine.

The G-Unit mogul has been a fan of Adam's for a long time.

We were coming up at the same time and they asked me what do I like and I said Maroon 5 because I just heard the song [“She Will Be Loved”] and I just said, ‘What is that?’” he told Carson.

Carson said he loved hearing 50 and Eminem collaborate on songs like "Patiently Waiting" and "Never Enough." Carson believes the two have a hit on their hands with "My Life."

"You got it right with My Life," Carson said. "Because you got a little bit of Em on that. But the two of you together there's a sense of urgency that we don't hear in hip hop, yet it's pop palatable. Meaning I could play it here and you can go over to Big Boy's [Neighborhood] and he's going to play it over there."

12349105065?profile=original

What really happened is for the the first time we were in the studio and I said, ‘No, we gotta make a single," 50 explained. “I found a space that kind of meets the Slim Shady, not the Marshall Mathers, but the Slim Shady side of Em when he starts to get in that pocket. It just makes a great collaboration every time we did it like Gatman and Robin or Psycho.”

Fif goes on to talk about why things didn't work with Young Buck and The Game, his performance on The Voice, Street King energy shot and helping to feed the hungry and why "New Day" will appear on Street King King Immortal and Alicia Keys' Girl On Fire album.

Rihanna got the big debut everyone expected for her new album Unapologetic. The album sold 238,000 copies according to Nielsen SoundScan, giving the singer her biggest 1st week sales ever, earning the Bajan beauty her very first No. 1 album on the Billboard 200 chart according to Billboard.

The 24-year old superstar celebrated the good news with her 26 million Twitter followers.

Nicki Minaj's Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded - The Re-Up moved 34,501 copies according to HitsDailyDouble

12349681093?profile=original

Minaj blamed the low sales total on three of the nations biggest retailers.

"It is hard to get the album because the stores basically said that the last few re-releases they had put out did not do well and they didn't want to take a chance," she said in a recent appearance The Breakfast Club. "So, Target and Walmart is not selling the album. Target is actually my biggest retailer -- they've always been my biggest retailer. They've sold the most Nicki Minaj albums ever, so, thank you, Target. But I wish you could've sold this one.

As for Best Buy, the retailer "only took limited [quantities] because they're like 'Oh we don't know, we want to play it safe,' so it's very difficult and it kind of sets you up to fail," she said, adding that some of her fans "have been driving hours, literally hours, to get one CD. But it is what it is, and I appreciate the support, and I'm excited about the music."

Walmart spokesperson Veronica Marshall told Spin.com that they would would have carried the album had Nicki offered an edited version, which she did not.

"We do not carry any music that has a parental advisory label on it," said Marshall. "However, we carry edited versions of those music titles. That album did not come with an edited option, so that's why Walmart isn't carrying that album."

The Re-Up is a re-release of Nicki's Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded album. It came with eight new songs.
