Ex-UFC champion Anderson Silva has agreed to fight Julio Cesar Chavez Jr in the boxing ring following his departure from the MMA organization.

Dana White dropped the 45-year-old Brazilian after three consecutive defeats but he has shown no interest in retiring, so has made a switch to boxing.

He will fight 35-year-old Mexican former middleweight champion Chavez in Jalisco Stadium in Guadalajara, Mexico, on June 19.

Speaking to TMZ, Silva said: “When I look back at my journey, I see that nothing has been in vain.

“'I am extremely happy for the opportunity to test my boxing skills with Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. I train continuously, always striving for resilience and to overcome obstacles. Fighting is my everlasting breath.”

Chavez is keen to fight in order to ameliorate his record of 52-5, and will make more light heavyweight fights if they are offered to him.

“I have rededicated myself to the sport that I love and I will be ready to face anyone in the light-heavyweight division starting with Silva,” he said.

“I will be prepared to be victorious on June 19.”

Silva is a former UFC middleweight champion, holding the belt from 2006 to 2013, and has previously taken part in two boxing matches, against Luiz Teixeira in 1998 and Julio Cesar De Jesus in 2005, with a record of one defeat, and one win by knockout.

Lil Nas X is in the middle of a holy war now -- legally speaking -- because Nike's going after the company making his controversial "Satan Shoes" ... a devilish connection Nike wants no part of.

The shoe giant is suing MSCHF Product Studio ... the company that collaborated with the rapper to produce the Satan Shoe, aka the "blood shoes."

If you haven't heard ... Lil Nas has been hyping the customized Nike Air Max 97 shoes which feature the pentagram symbol, a Bible verse that references Satan, and allegedly a drop of blood from one of MSCHF's employees. There are also only 666 pairs being made & they're selling for over a grand.

According to the docs, obtained by TMZ, Nike claims the company's tricking consumers into thinking it approved the Satan-themed shoes, but Nike insists it didn't authorize it & "is in no way connected with this project."

Nike claims MSCHF buys the shoes from Nike, then the artists it works with make their own creative modifications before selling them at a higher price.

Nike's suing for trademark infringement because the famous Swoosh logo is still prominently featured on X's shoes. It wants damages & perhaps more importantly for Nas X ... Nike wants the judge to block all sales of the Satan Shoe.

The Satan Shoe sparked outrage within the sports world ... with stars like Trevor Lawrence & Nick Young voicing their disgust with the product.

"Line has to be drawn somewhere. Smh," the future first-overall pick in the NFL Draft said.

Young added ... "My kids will never play Old Town road again.. I’m still debating about wearing @Nike after this come [on] nike a drop of blood for real."

Young later apologized after finding out the Swoosh did NOT approve of the shoe.

Minneapolis (AP) — The video of George Floyd gasping for breath was front & center Monday as the former Minneapolis police officer who pressed his knee on the Black man’s neck went on trial Monday on charges of murder & manslaughter.

Prosecutor Jerry Blackwell showed the jurors the footage at the earliest opportunity, during opening statements, after telling them that the number to remember was 9 minutes, 29 seconds — the amount of time officer Derek Chauvin had Floyd pinned to the pavement last May.

A handcuffed Floyd said 27 times that he couldn’t breathe & went limp, Blackwell said.

“He put his knees upon his neck & his back, grinding & crushing him, until the very breath -- no, ladies & gentlemen -- until the very life was squeezed out of him,” the prosecutor said.

Chauvin attorney Eric Nelson countered by arguing: “Derek Chauvin did exactly what he had been trained to do over his 19-year career.”

Floyd was resisting arrest & Chauvin arrived to assist other officers who were struggling to get Floyd into a squad car as the crowd around them grew larger & more hostile, Nelson said.

The defense attorney also disputed that Chauvin was to blame for Floyd’s death.

Floyd, 46, had none of the telltale signs of asphyxiation & had fentanyl & methamphetamine in his system, Nelson said. He said Floyd’s drug use combined with his heart disease & high blood pressure, as well as the adrenaline flowing through his body, to cause his death from a heart rhythm disturbance.

The medical examiner’s autopsy noted fentanyl & methamphetamine in Floyd’s system but listed his cause of death as “cardiopulmonary arrest, complicating law enforcement subdual, restraint & neck compression.”

Chauvin, 45, is charged with unintentional second-degree murder, third-degree murder & manslaughter. The most serious charge, the second-degree murder count, carries up to 40 years in prison.

Video After The Jump

A violent sex fiend abducted a 12-year-old boy from a Miami street early Saturday — then sexually assaulted & shot the child.

The victim was walking on 43rd Terrace near 30th Avenue in the Brownsville neighborhood at about 2 a.m., when a man forced him into a black car, according to the Miami-Dade Police Department.

The suspect drove a few blocks away, where he sexually assaulted the boy & shot him, police said. He then forced the victim from the car & drove off.

A man who was riding on a bike near the scene of the crime told a local news station that he pulled over to help the boy after he heard the child screaming.

“He was screaming. ‘Help, someone, help me, please,’ ” the man, who said his name was Johnny.

“I bring him to the store so they can call the police for him,” Johnny added. “He was conscious, then he fell on the sidewalk & said he had been shot.”

Surveillance video obtained by the station shows the boy stumbling up to a street corner while bleeding from his head before he collapsed to the ground.

Another passerby offered him water & a towel, the video shows.

Police showed up a short while later & rushed the critically injured kid to a local hospital.

Johnny, the good Samaritan, told WSVN he was grateful he was there to help the boy — but added that the disturbing scene weighed on his mind.

“I couldn’t sleep at all that night, you know?” he said.

Rapper & singer Lil Nas X is launching a controversial pair of "Satan Shoes" featuring a bronze pentagram, an inverted cross & a drop of real human blood.

The black & red sneakers, part of a collaboration between Lil Nas X & New York-based art collective MSCHF, were made using Nike Air Max 97s, though the sportswear brand has distanced itself from the design.

In an emailed statement to CNN, Nike said it was not involved in creating the modified sneakers. "We do not have a relationship with Lil Nas or MSCHF," the company said. "Nike did not design or release these shoes & we do not endorse them."

Launching as a limited-edition "drop" of 666 pairs, each shoe's air bubble sole contains 60 cubic centimeters of red ink & "one drop" of human blood. They are priced at $1,018 a pair, a reference to the Bible passage Luke 10:18 that reads: "I saw Satan fall like lightning from heaven."

A MSCHF spokesperson said the blood had been provided by members of the art collective, adding: "We love to sacrifice for our art." The group also confirmed to CNN that Nike was "not involved in this in any capacity."

The shoes sparked outrage online over the weekend & attracted criticism from a number of high-profile political and religious figures, including South Dakota Governor Kristi Noem & the evangelical pastor Mark Burns. The latter described the sneakers in a tweet as "evil" & "heresy." Some fans of the rapper tweeted their support & desire to own a pair.

In response, Lil Nas X, posted a video to his YouTube account titled "Lil Nas X Apologizes for Satan Shoe," which has now been viewed over 1.8 million times. But after a few seconds, the apparent apology cuts to a scene from his new music video, "Montero (Call Me By Your Name)," showing him dancing with a devil character. The rapper is then pictured snapping the devil's neck, before removing his horned crown & assuming it himself.

Vanessa Bryant has asked a judge to give her mom the boot in her lawsuit to win lifetime support.

Vanessa's mom, Sofia Laine, has filed a lawsuit against Kobe's estate, claiming Kobe promised to take care of her financially for the rest of her life.

In new docs, Vanessa points to a legal fight Sofia was having against her ex-husband in 2004 & 2008 over spousal support. Sofia's ex-husband claimed he should not have to pay her because she was being supported by Kobe & Vanessa. Sofia fired back that her daughter & son-in-law had no obligation to support her, & whatever they gave her was simply out of the goodness of their hearts.

Sofia's ex also pointed to tabloid stories which claimed Vanessa bought a $1 million home for her so she wasn't in need of support. Sofia shot back ... the stories were "absolutely false" & "I would never permit Vanessa to do such a thing. I have not & do not (nor should I be required to) rely on Vanessa for my support."

And, Vanessa has other reasons why she wants the lawsuit dismissed. Among them ... Sofia argues Kobe made an oral promise to "take care of her financially." Vanessa's legal team says even if Kobe said that, it's too vague to be enforced.

And, there's this ... Sofia also says Vanessa & Kobe violated California labor laws by not giving her meal breaks, rest periods & giving her minimum wage for babysitting services. Vanessa fired back in legal docs, "[Sofia] was never an 'employee' ... [she] is a grandmother who, at times, helped her daughter & son-in-law by spending time with her grandchildren."

And, Vanessa's legal team argues, in order for Sofia to go after Kobe's estate, she had to file a creditor's claim within a year of his death & she did not do that.

A judge has yet to rule.

MaYoun is an artist that aim’s for more than just creating good music for you to listen to and have a good time. He takes pride in the idea that his music is about making a difference in the world. It’s about setting an example. It’s about people seeing an artist from a small country town in Arkansas who did it the right way – who walked away from selling drugs and becoming involved in gangs and instead chose to put his energy and passions into making truly original music. And out of that success MaYoun has given back to his community, using his platform to bring awareness to the ills of the world and encouraging younger generations to think about the consequences of their actions and poor decisions.  His new Single “Same Lil N*gga” puts that originality on full display. He took part in working with HitCo Records’ very own Aaron Reid in the production of this track as well as 2 other singles, “Best Now” and “Trophies” set to release simultaneously. The three songs they created express the versatility and various exploratory sounds that MaYoun brings to the industry. They’re new sounds – authentic, with real flows and real lyrics that connect with people from all walks of life. They worked together to create slow songs, fast songs, party songs, introspective songs and just about everything else in between. Mayoun and his management team have launched their own record label company self-titled “MaYoun Music LLC” which is currently under the direction of super-producer, Christopher Starr, Founder and CEO of CSP Music Group, who leads a team of diverse industry professionals that has assisted in the sales of over 350 million records.  When asked who his influences were, Mayoun mentioned musical legends such as Micheal  Jackson, Snoop Dogg, and Bobby Wormack. That’s an odd range of artists to place into that category but he went on to explain that each of those musicians expressed themselves in ways that he could relate. “Micheal Jackson placed his political views and concepts within his music. Snoop Dogg uses his platform to show his newly defined image. Bobby Wormack expressed his emotions towards women through a lyrical love language.” How could we deliver a genre of music that catered to an audience so vast?  MaYoun’s music is the answer to that. It is the kind of music that can appeal to so many different audiences that it cannot be classified into just one genre. It cannot be defined by one set of preconceived structures because there never has been anything like him. The songs and sounds from this crafty artist, now residing in Texas, are so unique that it’s almost like he’s making an a-la-carte radio station for each and every listener in the world.  “I really just want people to know that there is still versatility in music,” MaYoun said. “I have a melodic sound though it’s not a sound that you’d be used to hearing right now. It’s different and it stands out. I feel like I have the sound of today but I’m always putting the substance of early 2000s in there that everybody loves. I always try to keep some kind of substance and teach something or express something I’ve been through in a way that people can relate to it. Giving back is the whole idea behind MaYoun Music. I’m an artist who really just loves music and wants to use my platform to help my community and make a difference on things that are going on in the world. I haven’t always been a squeaky clean guy but I decided to go a different route, and God has blessed me to have music that could influence others as well.”

Video After The Jump

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) — Oklahoma City police officers fatally shot an inmate who took a correctional officer hostage at a county jail Saturday, authorities said.

Officers had tried to deescalate the situation at the Oklahoma County Detention Center, but authorities fired their weapons after the suspect held something against the neck of the hostage, Oklahoma County Sheriff Tommie Johnson III said during a news conference.

The correctional officer was then rescued safely and taken to a hospital for treatment.

Officials did not give details about the officer’s injuries, but Oklahoma City Police Chief Wade Gourley said, “I’m just glad the detention officer wasn’t more seriously hurt.”

The inmate had overrun the officer while medications were being distributed, officials said. The suspect then used the officer’s keys to free other inmates on the jail’s 10th floor.

Authorities did not immediately release the names of either the inmate or the officer who had been taken hostage.

As the incident unfolded, demonstrators went to the jail to protest how inmates are treated within the facility, KOCO-TV reported.

Video After The Jump

LAS VEGAS (AP) — Francis Ngannou has been the next big thing in the UFC heavyweight division for several years. Just about everyone believed greatness was within the powerful Cameroonian challenger’s reach if he could ever put his prodigious talents together.

All that potential was realized in six sensational minutes Saturday night when Ngannou took the belt away from the most accomplished fighter in the division’s history.

Ngannou stopped Stipe Miocic with ferocious punches early in the second round to claim the heavyweight title at UFC 260.

Ngannou (11-2) avenged his blowout loss to Miocic in 2018 by demonstrating everything he has learned in the ensuing three years. The first UFC heavyweight champion from Africa flattened Miocic (21-3) twice early in the second, finally buckling the champ’s knees and ending the bout 52 seconds into the round.

“Man, it’s amazing,” Ngannou said. “The feeling of it is just great. Imagine something you’ve been waiting for your entire life, and struggling to have it. Sometimes I felt like I was drowning and I had to struggle back, but now we’re here.”

Ngannou won a fairly quiet first round with superior striking and ground work, but there was nothing quiet about the finish.

Ngannou knocked down Miocic 22 seconds into the second round with a crisp left hand to Miocic’s face, but the champion ate several punches to get up. Miocic backpedaled away and even landed a right hand that stung Ngannou, but the challenger loaded up a picture-perfect left hook that bent Miocic’s legs at a gruesome angle and put him on the canvas again, where Ngannou landed one finishing hammer fist.

“When the journey is longer, the reward is always more appreciated,” Ngannou said. “I’m sure I would have been happy three years ago, but I think now, I have a different perspective about it, being happy about my improvement.”

The violence was exactly what Ngannou’s fans and coaches expected when the long-anticipated changing of the guard atop the heavyweight division finally happened in this rematch of two highly likable fighters.

Ngannou tried to call his mother in Cameroon immediately after the fight, but said he couldn’t get through to her because everyone was “going crazy” celebrating his win.

“I can’t talk to anybody in Cameroon right now,” he said. “It’s a good craziness, for a good reason.”

The 34-year-old Ngannou is a former aspiring boxer who discovered mixed martial arts after he left Cameroon for France in his mid-20s. He rose rapidly through his new sport with his fearsome power and growing all-around skill, but Miocic interrupted his ascent by winning every round of their first bout in Boston.

The loss staggered the confidence of a once-dynamic fighter. He barely threw a punch in his next bout, an embarrassing loss to Derrick Lewis.

But Ngannou impressively regained his confidence later in 2018 and kicked off a run of four consecutive knockout victories against veteran heavyweights, putting him back in line for Miocic.

“He was a completely different fighter tonight,” UFC President Dana White said of Ngannou. “We saw things from him we never saw before. He took his time, and even ate that big right hand from Stipe. He looked perfect tonight.”

In the Vegas cage, Ngannou was far too much for Miocic, the firefighter from Cleveland who has been on top of the division for four of the last five years. Miocic’s heavyweight reign has been the best in the history of a notoriously tumultuous UFC division, and he most recently won the final two fights of his trilogy with Daniel Cormier to cement his heavyweight supremacy.

In the co-main event of this pay-per-view show at the UFC Apex gym on the promotion’s corporate campus, former welterweight champion Tyron Woodley lost his fourth consecutive fight when Vicente Luque submitted him with a D’Arce choke late in the first round.

Woodley (19-7-1), who reigned over the 170-pound division for nearly three years until Kamaru Usman took his belt in March 2019, looked sharp early and landed some strong shots before he was staggered and finished by Luque (20-7-1), who has won 13 of his last 15 fights.

Earlier, bantamweight Sugar Sean O’Malley overcame an enormous early mental mistake for a vicious third-round finish of Thomas Almeida.

O’Malley, the thrilling fighter with rainbow-dyed hair, floored Almeida in the first round with a head kick and a big punch — but instead of finishing his opponent on the ground, O’Malley anticipated a stoppage and walked away before realizing the fight hadn’t been stopped.

When he floored Almeida again in the third, O’Malley briefly tried to walk away again before pouncing and throwing a final punch that bounced Almeida’s head off the canvas.

The UFC is headed to Jacksonville for its next pay-per-view show next month because Florida officials will allow White to sell every seat in an arena, but the promotion still welcomed a few dozen fans to the Apex.

The crowd included Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow, Megan Fox, Kourtney Kardashian, Travis Barker and former UFC owners Lorenzo and Frank Fertitta.
