MIAMI (WSVN) - A seasonal worker for UPS has been arrested after he was accused of returning to steal packages that he had helped drop off.
Police arrested 18-year-old Emmanuel Lamont Reggin Jr. Tuesday and charged him with third-degree grand theft, which is a felony.
According to police, Reggin was a seasonal employee for UPS and would help the full-time driver unload packages at various locations.
Police said on Monday that Reggin helped unload 5,500 packages at a company near 190th Street and Fifth Avenue in Northeast Miami-Dade.
While unloading the truck, police said surveillance video showed Reggin grabbing several packages containing two Kindles, an iPad and a Surface Pro tablet and placing them in and under dumpsters at the business when his coworker was not looking.
Detectives said after stashing the items, Reggin came back later in the evening after he had clocked out and picked them up.
Police said Reggin repeated the process the following day when he returned to help unload more packages at the business. This time, he placed two boxes under the dumpster. The boxes contained a laptop and two PlayStation 4s.
However, the business manager was alerted to the boxes under the dumpsters and checked surveillance cameras where he saw Reggin committing the act.
Reggin was taken into custody and police said the stolen items were found at his home.
UPS has since released a statement on the 18-year-old’s arrest that read in part, “UPS is working with law enforcement, and the person in question is no longer employed by the company.”
Reggin’s uncle and sister were in court while he made his first appearance on Wednesday.
“At 18, you got a chance to work, and then you go and allegedly do something pretty stupid stealing the packages,” Judge Mindy Glazer said. “I don’t know if that’s the path in life you want to take, but I would think not. I would think you would want to stay out of trouble, get a good job and have a nice life. Good luck to you, sir.”
If convicted, Reggin could face up to five years in prison.
Reggin has since bonded out of the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center. He did not answer questions as he left the jail.

French Montana is finally out of the hospital after a nearly 2-week stay, and while he still has a long road to recovery ... he also has a new album to help motivate him.
Sources close to French say he was released from West Hills Hospital in the San Fernando Valley earlier this week. It's a big step forward, but doctors have ordered at least 30 more days of bed rest at home.
That means no working, traveling, exercising, performing or partying for the next month, which is a bit of a bummer considering his new album, "Montana" dropped Friday.
We're told docs believe French's various symptoms were the result of seriously overworking himself. Those symptoms included intense stomach pains, dehydration and exhaustion. He also had an elevated heart rate which we're told is back under control after the extended hospital stay.
Our sources say French is anxious to get back to feeling 100%, so he can get back on the road for appearances and performances -- but that's on the back burner, for now.
TMZ broke the story, French was first hospitalized and placed in the ICU 2 weeks ago. Cops were called to his home for what turned out to be a false burglary alarm, but while interacting with French determined he needed medical help, citing possible intoxication.

Rapper Obie Trice is in real trouble, no gimmick, after cops busted him for felony assault with a gun and violating a restraining order.
Trice was booked early Friday morning in Oakland County, Michigan on 2 charges, and is still locked up. The charges include aggravated felony assault of a family member with a gun and contempt of court for violating a protective order.
Law enforcement sources tell us a neighbor called cops early Friday morning when they heard loud noises and shouting coming from Obie's place. We're told when cops arrived, they spoke with Obie and a woman he's been living with who said they'd had an argument.
Our sources say the woman's son got in the middle of the argument, a gun went off, and the son was shot. The son then drove himself to the hospital for treatment ... he's in stable condition.
Obie's bail's been set at $16,900.
Trice was a big part of Eminem's heyday -- he signed to Shady Records in 2000 -- and contributed to songs on the "8 Mile" soundtrack, the D12 album "Devil's Night" ... and of course, had the famous opening line to Em's "Without Me."
He left Shady and started his own record label, Black Market Entertainment, in 2010.

KiNg EmErY is a rapper originally from Dallas, TX, who discovered his talent for rapping when he was in the 3rd grade. And since, has been using music as a way to express himself and deal with obstacles in his life ever. In 2018, KiNg EmErY recorded his mixtape “Critically Acclaimed” which garnered national attention. That attention kept him focused on his art and hustle bringing him to launching his own independent record label, Money Maker Nation.From here,the only direction for a King to go is up.
His current project is the EP “Royalty Fees” with fellow artist N’Less Fee. And this short 5 Song project is one of the best show casings of skills I have seen in a while. King EmErY was able to make something for just about everyone and still stay true to his nature of dropping street gems of survival and reality in his music.
The songs "Old Relationships" and "$tar" have that new sound in music. That turn up, autotune feel, with a nice lyrical delivery and presence of today's popular style. On "Drip"...the title says just that. Wash the car, turn the sounds up and stunt hard. The single "Texas Hustle" is my personal favorite. I felt like I was getting the real and raw King EmErY. Not that the others songs weren't him, but this had no direct aim at an audience. He felt the beat...and wrote his trials and tribulations, losses and wins, as he felt they should be delivered. Classic hood hip hop to me. The final single "Super Soaker" was the most important ingredient to the project, again, in my opinion. "Super Soaker" is directed to everyone. I won't get to into details on the lyrical content, but I will say this is the single the ladies will spin, the fella's will spin, the club, the radio, the party...This is one of those very marketable tracks that everyone can enjoy.
Over all "Royalty Fees"is a great and classic project. For me it was the introduction to this motivate emcee,and I feel the perfect pick for anyone to learn about this artist. But after a quick google search i seen this man was working and there was alot to catch upon. You can't say "there is no good music"if you're not listening.
