ORLANDO, Fla. – A known Orlando-area gang member was sentenced to more than seven years in a federal prison after pleading guilty to three weapons charges earlier this year.
Jacquavius Smith, known in rap music circles as Glokk9 or 9lokknin, was arrested last year for possessing a gun as a convicted felon.
An Orange County judge deemed him a danger to society and denied him bond.
In February, Smith was indicted on federal firearms charges.
He pleaded guilty to three counts in July, including possession of an unregistered firearm, using another person’s identity and committing a crime while on pretrial release.
According to court documents, Smith will serve 87 months in a federal prison, three years of supervised release and drug treatment.
He was also ordered to pay $10,416 in restitution.
Smith still faces racketeering charges in state court, where his trial is slated to begin in March 2022.
He also faces charges of attempted second-degree murder.
Investigators allege the rapper fired a gun into an Orlando home in July. A woman told detectives she was inside with her children at the time. No one was injured. Investigators said that Smith was targeting another rapper, with a witness telling detectives, “9IokkNine wants to be the only rapper coming from Orlando.”
Several months after the shooting, Orange County deputies said Smith was the target of a shooting between a rival gang outside the food court at the Mall at Millenia on Oct. 8, 2020.

The music producer known as Flow La Movie, who'd worked with major reggaeton artists such as Bad Bunny and Ozuna, was one of nine people who died in a plane crash in the Dominican Republic. He was 38.
According to a statement from Helidosa Aviation Group, which operated the aircraft, the Gulfstream jet crashed Wednesday night while attempting to make an emergency landing at Las Americas International Airport in the capital, Santo Domingo.
The aircraft had taken off from another airport on the island and was en route to Miami with two crew members and seven passengers on board, including the producer, born José Ángel Hernández, his wife Debbie Von Marie Jiménez García and 4-year-old son Jayden Hernández.
No details on the cause of the crash were given in the Helidosa statement, which said the company was cooperating with investigators and asked for "care and solidarity to support the affected families who, together with us, are going through this very difficult time."
Hernández produced the global hit "Te Boté," which features Bad Bunny, Nicky Jam and Ozuna. According to his record label, Hernández was also instrumental in the rise of artists such as Nio Garcia, Casper Magico, and D.Ozi.
Tributes poured in from the world of reggaeton music.

Former UFC champion Jon Jones has taken a plea deal in his domestic battery case in Nevada and will serve no jail time, according to online court records.
Jones pleaded nolo contendere to a lesser charge, misdemeanor destroying the property of another, in Las Vegas Justice Court on Tuesday, stemming from a Sept. 24 incident at a Las Vegas Strip resort. Jones must stay out of trouble, pay $750 restitution to the victim and attend anger management counseling, the records stated.
Jones originally was charged with felony tampering with a vehicle and misdemeanor domestic battery. The domestic battery charge was dropped, and Jones pleaded nolo contendere to destroying the property of another. Nolo contendere is a plea where a defendant accepts a conviction, but does not admit guilt.
Jones was arrested by Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department officers in the early morning hours of Sept. 24, per the arrest report. When he was taken into custody, Jones "became irate and smashed his head onto the front hood" of a police vehicle, causing a medium-sized dent and paint chipping, according to the report. That led to the initial felony charge of injuring or tampering with a vehicle.
The police were called by a security guard at Caesars Palace Las Vegas Hotel and Casino who encountered a crying woman inside the hotel. The woman told the security guard she was afraid to go back to her room and was taken to the security office. The woman told police that Jones was a "little" physical with her, touching the back of her head and pulling her hair. She said Jones didn't hit her, though officers saw blood on the women's clothing and a bump on her lip with dried blood. The woman said her lips were very dry. Police also observed blood on the bed sheets inside the hotel room, according to the report.
Jones told police that he never touched the woman and had a hard time remembering some points of the night, the report stated.

PORT-AU-PRINCE, Haiti (AP) — The remaining members of a missionary group who were kidnapped 2 months ago have been freed, Haitian police & the group said Thursday.
The spokesman for Haiti’s National Police, Gary Desrosiers, confirmed that the remaining hostages had been released.
“We glorify God for answered prayer — the remaining 12 hostages are FREE!” Christian Aid Ministries said in a statement. “Join us in praising God that all 17 of our loved ones are now safe.”
The Ohio group said it hopes to provide more information later.
“We’re feeling great,” said Ron Marks, minister at Hart Dunkard Brethren Church in Michigan, whose members included some of the hostages.
Carleton Horst, a member of Hart Dunkard Brethren Church in Hart, Michigan, where five of the hostages are members, said church members received a text message Thursday morning from “someone connected to the situation” that all of the hostages had been released.
A mother & 4 of her children who belong to the congregation were among the hostages. Horst, who is friends with the family, said the church is rejoicing & he’s “elated that that portion of things is finally over, just praise the Lord for that.”
The missionaries were kidnapped by the 400 Mawozo gang on Oct. 16. There were 5 children in the group of 16 U.S. citizens & 1 Canadian, including an 8-month-old. Their Haitian driver also was abducted, according to a local human rights organization.
Two of the hostages were released in November & 3 more earlier this month. They were not identified, but members of the Hart congregation told local media in Michigan two were from Hart.
In addition to Michigan, the hostages are from Wisconsin, Ohio, Tennessee, Pennsylvania, Oregon & Ontario, Canada.
“Today is the day we have been hoping for, praying for & working so hard to achieve,” said Congressman Bill Huizenga, whose western Michigan congressional district includes Hart. “I want to thank members of the hostage negotiation team for their diligence in securing the safe release of all the hostages. This is a great day for families in Michigan & across the nation who have been worried about the safety of their loved ones.”
The leader of the 400 Mawozo gang had threatened to kill the hostages unless his demands were met. Authorities have said the gang was demanding $1 million per person, although it wasn’t clear if that included the children.
It remained unclear Thursday whether any ransom was paid or what efforts led to their freedom.

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (WREG) — Thousand of fans will be at the FedEx Forum on Dec. 16 to honor the life of Young Dolph, but his loved ones gathered the day before for the unveiling of his honorary street name.
Young Dolph’s son pulled the string on Adolph “Young Dolph” Thorton Jr. Avenue in the heart of the Castalia Heights community. It is a road that Mia Jaye, Young Dolph’s partner & mother of his 2 children, hopes will be a road of inspiration for the community.
“I think he’s more than deserving to have a street named after him, in honor of him so children of this community will be able to look forward to more than what their environment presents them,” Mia said.
Keeping his memory alive, more than 5,000 fans will gather Thursday for a grand celebration of life. Mia said with his untimely murder, the tribute of the street sign is both bittersweet and heartwarming.
“This is just an illustration of the great work Adolph did within this community,” Mia said. “It just allows for us to continue to see his legacy visually although we know we are going to continue to carry it out.”
That includes his charitable work and love for the city of Memphis. Young Dolph’s aunt, Rita Myers, agreed with Mia Jaye and promised to keep his legacy alive.
“I guarantee you, we guarantee you, that his legacy will live on,” Myers said.
The FedExForum said doors for the celebration of life will open at 11 a.m. Thursday.

RUSSELL COUNTY, Ala. (WTVM) - The suspect in the murder of 5-year-old Columbus girl, Kamarie Holland, went before a judge in Russell County on Tuesday afternoon.
Jeremy Williams, 37, is facing a capital murder charge in connection to the case after Kamarie Holland’s body was found in Russell County late Monday night.
The bond hearing was held at the Russell County Courthouse at 3:30 p.m. on Dec. 14.
Williams was escorted into the courtroom through a private hallway. Upon entering the courtroom, Willliams seemed numb - twitching & having uncontrollable bodily movements at times.
Since this is a capital murder case, the highest appointed judge in Russell County.
Williams was appointed an attorney but he told the judge he did not want an attorney. Attorney Chuck Floyd was appointed as council for Williams and at anytime, Williams can use him as his attorney.
Judge David Johnson issued a preliminary gag order & parties may not discuss the case or facts to the press.
“There’s going to be a gag order, so as far as any facts for this case, the judge has ordered that we do not disclose any other facts or findings as it comes out in this case. The judge said that he will address the fine-tuning of that gag order very soon hopefully so that we will be able to get information out as it comes available,” said Russell County Chief Deputy DA, Rick Chancey.
Williams is currently being held without bond.
In the State of Alabama, if proven guilty, a capital murder offense means Williams will either be facing life in prison without parole or the death penalty.
Russell County Chief Deputy DA Rick Chancey & Russell County Sheriff Heath Taylor say if the facts turn out true, they will fully seek the death penalty.
Next, a preliminary hearing will be held for Williams then the DA’s office expects a grand jury court case in early spring of 2022.

The NFLPA is going after the NFL ... saying the league's decision to take away daily COVID-19 testing for players has resulted in widespread outbreaks across the league.
"The NFL decided to take away a critical weapon in our fight against the transmission of COVID-19 despite our union's call for daily testing months ago," the PA said on social media.
"We're talking to our player leadership & to the NFL about potential changes to the protocols so that we can complete the season."
As of Wednesday, the league’s COVID reserve list skyrocketed to nearly 100 players -- including several big names like Odell Beckham Jr., Jalen Ramsey, and Browns QB Baker Mayfield.
Of course, that number is expected to grow over the next few weeks -- with the holidays approaching -- a scenario the NFLPA says the NFL could have avoided if they had just listened to them in the first place.
Back in September, JC Tretter -- NFLPA prez -- released a statement on the potential ramifications of not testing daily and what kind of issues that move could present for the league.
Well, now the PA's doubling down on Tretter's initial stance ... expressing disappointment over the league's decision to stop testing players daily.
NFL commish Roger Goodell and NFLPA Executive Director Demaurice Smith haven't had the best relationship over the years ... so it'll be interesting to see how the NFL responds.
The PA did tweet they were in discussions with player leadership, as well as the NFL, about potential changes to the existing protocols.

WASHINGTON (AP) — The District of Columbia has filed a civil lawsuit seeking harsh financial penalties against far-right groups Proud Boys and Oath Keepers over their role in the Jan. 6 insurrection at the Capitol by supporters of former President Donald Trump.
The suit, filed Tuesday in federal court, also names dozens of the groups’ senior members, many of whom already face criminal charges for taking part in the violent attack on the Capitol building while Congress was meeting to certify the 2020 election results.
Karl Racine, Washington’s attorney general, said the lawsuit seeks compensation for damages to the District of Columbia and intends to inflict maximum financial damage on the groups responsible.
“Out intent is to hold these violent mobsters and violent hate groups accountable and to get every penny of damage we can,” Racine said. “If it so happens that we bankrupt them, then that’s a good day.”
There was no immediate response to emails sent to the groups seeking comment.
The lawsuit cites as its basis a post-Civil War 1871 law known as the Ku Klux Klan Act. A similar tactic was used to secure a $26 million verdict last month against white supremacist groups and individuals responsible for organizing the violent 2017 Unite the Right rally in Charlottesville, Virginia, in which one person was killed after a man plowed his car into a group of counter-protesters.
The lawsuit came as the Justice Department on Tuesday separately charged three more suspected members of the Proud Boys from Pennsylvania for their alleged roles in January’s riot.
The men, Isaiah Giddings and Freedom Vy of Philadelphia and Brian Healion of Upper Darby, are all accused of working with another suspected Proud Boys member, Zachary Rehl — who was arrested in March — to breach the Capitol. Prosecutors say the group traveled together from Pennsylvania and the trio was photographed posing both outside the Capitol and inside the building.
Racine announced the suit Tuesday alongside Eleanor Holmes Norton, D.C.’s non-voting delegate in the House of Representatives. Norton said the suit is designed to secure extra funding to support D.C. police officers injured while defending the Capitol building and to serve as a warning to extremist groups.
“They’re going to have to spend money to defend themselves,” Norton said. “Even if we don’t get a penny in restitution, this lawsuit’s deterrent effect will say, ‘Be prepared to spend money to defend yourself because we are coming after you.’ ”
Racine said evidence presented in the multiple federal criminal cases underway already proves “explicit evidence of conspiracy” to commit violent acts in the nation’s capital. He said the lawsuit presents an opportunity to publicly explore and expose the financial support structure of the far-right extremist network.
“I sure hope they try to defend the case,” he said. “We can’t wait to propound searing questions about the finances of these individuals and these groups.”
The Proud Boys emerged from far-right fringes during the Trump administration to join mainstream GOP circles. The Oath Keepers is a militia group founded in 2009 that recruits current and former military, police and first responders.

LAS VEGAS (AP) — O.J. Simpson is a free man.
The 74-year-old former football hero and actor, acquitted California murder defendant and convicted Las Vegas armed robber was granted good behavior credits and discharged from parole effective Dec. 1, Nevada State Police spokeswoman Kim Yoko Smith said Tuesday.
“Mr. Simpson is a completely free man now,” said Malcolm LaVergne, Simpson’s lawyer in Las Vegas.
Simpson declined an immediate interview, LaVergne said, and the attorney declined to talk about Simpson’s future plans, including whether he intends to remain in Nevada.
Simpson had told parole officials before his Oct. 1, 2017, release from prison that he planned to move to Florida.
He instead moved to a gated community in Las Vegas, where he plays golf and frequently takes to Twitter to offer opinions about college and pro sports, especially football.
“Life is fine,” he told The Associated Press during a June 2019 interview.
Simpson’s saga makes him, in the words of one of his Las Vegas trial lawyers, one of the most famous people on the planet.
In what became known as “The Trial of the Century,” he was acquitted in 1995 of the double slayings of his ex-wife, Nicole Brown Simpson, and her friend Ronald Goldman.
The trial was the focus of gavel-to-gavel TV coverage, with Simpson represented by a legal “Dream Team” that included the late Johnnie Cochran Jr. and F. Lee Bailey.
In a separate case more than a decade later, Simpson was convicted by a jury in Las Vegas and sentenced to prison for leading five men, including two with guns, in a 2007 confrontation with two sports collectibles dealers in a cramped room at an off-strip Las Vegas casino hotel.
Simpson insisted he only wanted to retrieve personal mementoes and items stolen from him following his acquittal in the double killings.

Boosie Badazz's destructive brawl during a performance was a planned attack that ended up costing the promoters a crap ton of money -- at least according to the promoters who are now suing him over it.
MN2S Corp. & We Are Live Entertainment -- booker and promoter, respectively, for the "Legendz of the Streetz" tour -- just filed suit against the rapper, claiming he caused all the mayhem that unfolded in October at Atlanta's State Farm Arena.
You'll recall ... there was a massive brouhaha that went down in the middle of the show, which resulted in equipment getting damaged & the entire production getting shut down early. Boosie, as seen in the video, was right in the middle of the fracas.
In their lawsuit, obtained by TMZ, the companies say Boosie was initially booked for a total of $150k for five different appearances alongside guys like 2 Chainz, Rick Ross, Jeezy and others. They even say they gave him a $50k deposit in good faith before night #1.
Welp, the companies claim before the show Boosie contacted We Are Live president, Leonard Rowe, demanding more dough than what was agreed upon. Rowe declined to pay more & they allege Boosie threatening to torpedo the whole thing & then followed through.
They claim Boosie slipped past security & destroyed a bunch of pricey equipment before fighting with security. They say the show ended early as a result -- before Ross, the headliner, could even take the stage.
They're asking for $525k in damages to recoup their losses & punish Boosie for the whole thing.

A Putnam County police officer was arrested Tuesday for allegedly providing protection to a Queens-based sex trafficking ring in exchange for sexual favors.
Wayne Peiffer, a Village of Brewster police officer, was among 6 suspects indicted in Brooklyn federal court over the twisted scheme that trafficked young women & minor girls from Mexico into the US.
Members of the organization, which has been operating since at least 2002, lured the women & girls across the border under the false pretense of a better life before forcing them into prostitution in various locations including Queens & the northern suburb of Brewster, prosecutors said.
For the past 8 years, Peiffer is accused of shielding the organization from arrests, in part, by giving them advanced warning of law enforcement operations.
In return, Peiffer allegedly directed the ring to provide him with women so he could engage in sex acts with them — sometimes even at his police station.
The members of the Queens-based Cid-Hernandez Sex Trafficking Organization were identified as Luz Elvira Cardona, 33; Roberto Cesar Cid Dominguez, 54; Blanca Hernandez Morales, 51 & 32-year-old Jose Facundo Zarate Morales.

We're sad to report that another young rapper has lost his life to gun violence.
In a viral video that is going around the internet, 23-year old O-Block ARoy is seen winning what at first appears to be a fair fight on Monday, December 13.
When ARoy gets up and starts to walk away from his opponent, the man stands up, pulls out a gun and shoots ARoy several times, killing him.
Our condolences go out to ARoy's family, friends and loved ones.
