A promoter in Arizona has been indicted on federal charges that he bilked investors out of over $25 million dollars, by promoting phony concerts.
Dezert Heat Entertainment is accused of acting like a promoter of concerts featuring artists like 50 Cent and G-Unit, Mariah Carey, Shakira, Faith Hill, Tim McGraw and others.
According to the federal complaint, Miko Dion Wady scammed 140 investors out of the $25 million using a sophisticated Ponzi scheme.
Investors claim that they would be repaid with substantial interest from ticket revenues, but they were never compensated and the investments were never used to promote concerts.
The investors 37-count indictment claims that they were victims of an elaborate a scheme headed by Wade, who simply repaid them with money from earlier investors, until the scheme collapsed.
Wade would produce fake insurance receipts, bogus contracts and copies of fraudulent certified checks that were supposedly issued to book various talent and entertainers.
Federal officials claim that Wade only promoted 10 concerts between 2004 and 2009.
The indictment claims Wade used at least $3 million of the investors money to finance a lavish lifestyle that included a fleet of luxury cars, a boat, jet skis jewelry, and multiple homes.
Federal authorities also charged Wade with money laundering and wire fraud.

NBC has given Conan O'Brien the option to either do his show from midnight to 1 or leave the network, sources tell TMZ.
As TMZ first reported, after the Olympics, Jay Leno will get his 11:30 PM time period back. We're told network execs have told Conan they will let him decide if he wants the midnight to 1:00 AM time slot. If he does, Leno's show will only be a half hour. If Conan walks, Leno will get a full hour, informed sources tell TMZ.
Our sources say Conan has not decided what he wants. We do know he's pissed, because he was given no advanced warning this was coming. Conan's people told NBC they are considering the offer. Translation: Mr. O'Brien -- I have Rupert Murdoch on line one, Stephen McPherson on line two, John Landgraf on line three, Jeff Wachtel on line four ...
We're told if Conan gets another offer, even though NBC could block the move, they will let him go and give Leno the full hour.

Floyd Mayweather Jr insists he is "thoroughly disgusted" by claims he is to blame for the collapse of a lucrative super-fight against Manny Pacquiao.
Pacquiao's promoter Bob Arum announced on Wednesday night a fight between his fighter and Mayweather was dead in the water after negotiations broke down over an ongoing row over drug testing.
But Mayweather said: "Throughout this whole process I have remained patient, but at this point I am thoroughly disgusted that Pacquiao and his representatives are trying to blame me for the fight not happening when clearly the blame is on them."
Filipino fighter Pacquiao issued legal proceedings last week following Mayweather's insistence on ultra-stringent doping testing - namely the taking of blood samples close to the fight - for their proposed March 13 showdown in Las Vegas, claiming such actions were defamatory.
With the fight therefore in jeopardy, a mediator was brought in to attempt to solve the dispute this week. Arum claimed Mayweather and his team were unwilling to negotiate and the fight was off.
Mayweather, however, insists he has been - and remains - more than willing to compromise.
"First and foremost, not only do I want to fight Manny Pacquiao, I want to whip his punk ass," he added.
"Before the mediation, my team proposed a 14-day, no blood testing window leading up to the fight. But it was rejected. I am still proposing the 14-day window but he is still unwilling to agree to it, even though this is obviously a fair compromise on my part as I wanted the testing to be up until the fight and he wanted a 30-day cut-off."
Mayweather added: "I am ready to fight and sign the contract. Manny needs to stop making his excuses, step up and fight."

Video After The JumpA Playboy model whose badly burned body was found Sunday in a Miami dumpster expressed fear of her current boyfriend — even text messaging a former boyfriend, "he's trying to kill me," her stepfather told FoxNews.com.Paula Sladewski's stepfather Richard Watkins, who lives in Michigan with Sladewski's mother, told FoxNews.com that he wasn't surprised when he found out that Sladewski's boyfriend, Kevin Klym, 34, was named a person of interest.
"They had a horrible relationship," said Watkins. "I have told them from the start that they shouldn’t be together."
Watkins said the couple, who had been together for two years, argued often. He said a month ago, Klym broke Sladewski's nose during an argument and was arrested.
Watkins, who has been talking on the phone to Sladewski's ex-boyfriend in California since she disappeared, told FoxNews.com that Sladewski, 26, would text message her ex-boyfriend that she was afraid of Klym.
"She would text him 'help me, I’m in trouble, he’s trying to kill me'," Watkins told FoxNews.com.
Watkins said he last saw Sladewski when she visited her family in Michigan just after Christmas. He said she seemed happy and like her usual self.
Paula Sladewski — who appeared in the video "Playboy: The Ultimate Playmate Search" — was so severely burned that officials had to use dental records to identify her.
"We were praying that it wasn't her,'' said Watkins, according to the Miami Herald. "It's been real hard. I didn't know this many tears could fall."
The L.A.-based model had been visiting Florida during a holiday with Klym, who reported her missing. The couple splits time between Michigan and Rancho Cucamonga, California, The Miami Herald reported.
Watkins told FoxNews.com that Sladewski had told him they were going to Las Vegas on vacation, so he was surprised to learn they had instead gone to Miami.
On New Year’s Eve Sladewski went to a Lady Gaga concert in Miami and spent the weekend visiting nightclubs and bars, SkyNews.com reported.
Klym told police that he and Sladewski got into an argument at a nightclub and he was kicked out of the club in the early hours of Sunday morning. That was the last time, Klym told police, that he saw Sladewski. After he was booted from the club, he said he took a taxi back to their Miami Beach hotel, the Miami Herald reported.
The model's charred remains were discovered on Sunday night after a passer-by alerted the authorities to a trash bin on fire in a Miami street.
"Her body was burned so bad that there wasn't even enough to send her home," said Watkins, according to MyFoxDetroit.com. "It's heartbreaking."
Klym has been cooperating with police, said Lt. Neal Cuevas, a North Miami police spokesman, according to the Miami Herald.
"[Klym's] considered a person of interest as would anyone who last saw her alive,'' said Cuevas, the paper reported.
Watkins' wife, Patsy, received the telephone call from a concerned Klym on Monday saying that her daughter was missing. Monday happened to be Patsy's birthday, which Watkins said was "a birthday that she will never forget." He said his wife "can’t cope with this."
He told FoxNews.com that he can't understand why Klym would leave her at the nightclub alone. "He left her alone in a bar full of predators and I blame him for doing that. How could he do that? How could he just leave her alone? I can’t wrap my mind around why he would do that."
Patsy Watkins asked Klym those very questions on the phone Monday, and Richard Watkins said Klym told her he didn't know why he left her.
Klym has denied any involvement in Sladewski's disappearance. His lawyer, Marc Beginin, said Klym is "devastated and traumatized. He has no involvement whatsoever," said Beginin, the paper reported.
Sladewski's older sister flew down to Miami to assist in the investigation. Watkins said she will fly back to Michigan with her sister's remains this week.
The Miami North Police Department asks anyone with information to contact them at 305-471-8477.

An Ohio man found himself grounded when his anti-Semitic vitriol got him yanked from a plane.
"I want to kill all the Jews," Mansor Mohammad Asad proclaimed as cops removed him from a Detroit-bound Northwest Airlines flight out of Miami-Dade International airport, cops said.
The 43-year-old Toledo resident's ranting reportedly forced the taxiing flight to return to the gate, where he was arrested.
Asad was chanting in a foreign language and claiming to be Palestinian, witnesses reportedly told investigators who boarded the plane.
When approached by cops, Asad spewed threats at the officers, the Associated Press reported, citing a police affidavit. "I'm not afraid of you cops, I've gotten in fights with cops in Ohio and broke their arms in three places," Asad said, according to the affidavit. "I've broken skulls too!"
He was brought down with a stun gun after charging an officer. Cops found no weapons explosives after searching Asad.
The police affidavit says the outburst did not appear to be prompted by alcohol, the Associated Press reported.
Asad was taken to Miami-Dade County jail following his arrest. He was charged with making threats against a public servant, disorderly conduct, and resisting an officer, the Associated Press reported, citing a statement from Miami-Dade Police.
Three of his traveling companions were also removed from the flight and interrogated, according to the Transportation Security Administration.
The FBI, which was involved in the initial investigation, said through a spokeswoman his outburst does not appear to be a terrorism-related matter.
Following Asad's removal, the plane was searched and allowed to take off.

Audio After The JumpWhy does Danger remind me of Tila Tequila? Could it be the constant drama in her life? Or obvious attempts to grab headlines with bizarre behavior? Hmm, maybe it's not an act and she's really this nutty!
Whatever the case, she called up DJ Whoo Kid recently and got a few things off her chest. She claims to have inside dirt on a lot people in Hollywood and plans on cashing in.
Besides bashing Nick Cannon's family and revealing she's dating Tyrin Turner from the movie 'Menace To Society',
Danger talked about being molested for most of her life, her recent stay at a mental institution (she blames it on martial law). And made a not so veiled threat to Ray-J. Saying he better cut her a fat check or else!
I'm hoping her 15 minutes of fame is just about up. Her act has become old and tired.

Video After The JumpARLINGTON, Va. — An Army specialist is in jail, accused of making threats against fellow soldiers, including in a vulgar, violent rap song that describes shooting those responsible for his stop-loss orders.
Spc. Marc Hall, an Iraq veteran based at Fort Stewart, Ga., has been in custody since early December. He’s been charged with “conduct prejudicial to the good order and discipline of the armed forces,” allegedly threatening violence on multiple occasions, according to Army charge sheets.
Hall is accused in various specifications of threatening to “go on a rampage,” attack other soldiers if he was deployed, and shoot the brigade and battalion commanders.
Another count accuses him of distributing “original songs wrongfully threatening acts of violence against members of his unit.” Hall reportedly mailed a copy of the song to the Pentagon after receiving his stop-loss orders over the summer. The song, posted on Hall’s personal Web site, does not name anyone specifically.
“[Expletive] you colonels, captains, E-7 and above
You think you so much bigger than I am? ...
I’m gonna round them up all eventually, easily, walk right up peacefully
And surprise them all, yes, yes, y’all, up against the wall, turn around
I got a [expletive] magazine with 30 rounds, on a three-round burst, ready to fire down
Still against the wall, I grab my M-4, spray and watch all the bodies hit the floor
I bet you never stop-loss nobody no more.”
“The chain of command has a legal obligation to the citizens of the United States to investigate and deal fairly with SPC Hall’s alleged misconduct,” Kevin Larson, a spokesman at Fort Stewart, said in an e-mail. “Anything less would be irresponsible to our citizens and soldiers.”
James Klimaski, a Washington-based lawyer, said that Iraq Veterans Against the War, an anti-war group to which Hall belongs, is trying to raise enough money for Hall to hire him as his civilian attorney. While Hall is jailed, his unit has deployed to Iraq without him, according to Klimaski.
Hall’s song is just a song and should not be taken literally, the lawyer said.
“Listen to rap songs,” Klimaski said. “I mean there are a whole bunch of rap songs talking about killing people all the time. Nobody gets killed from them.”
Klimaski also downplayed the allegations that Hall made additional threats.
“The problem with threats is they can’t be contingent,” he said. “ ‘I will do this if ...’ Well that’s not a threat because if ‘if’ doesn’t happen, then there’s no threat. Like, let’s say, ‘I’m going to shoot the battalion commander if I’m deployed.’ Well he’s not been deployed, so he’s not going to shoot the battalion commander, so there’s no threat.”
Klimaski also said the definition of rampage means to run around like a crazy person. “That’s not a threat,” he said.
Hall’s arrest came a little more than a month after Army psychiatrist Maj. Nidal Malik Hasan was accused of killing 13 people at Fort Hood, Texas. Afterward, the military and law enforcement services were criticized for failing to heed what many said were signs that Hasan might commit violence. Among the signs were online postings sympathizing with Muslim suicide bombers and his vocal assertions that wars in Iraq and Afghanistan were wars against Islam.
Klimaski added that those who are a true threat typically don’t advertise their intentions.
“Maj. Hasan didn’t run around and say, ‘Hey, I’m going to blow people away at the hospital, or the infirmary today.’ Or the bomber going into Detroit says, ‘Oh, I should tell everyone I’m on this plane and blow the plane up,’” he said.

Video After The JumpDrake has been spoiled by the mixtape game. With So Far Gone, he dropped the entire body of work and let the people pick their favorite records (Drake's is " A Night Off" with Lloyd, if you were wondering). His album Thank Me Later is still on tap for a March release and despite what you've heard about songs such as "Fireworks" and "Light Up," the 23-year-old said he has yet to pick a single.
"A single? I haven't really figured it out," he said. "With So Far Gone it was the same thing — 'Best I Ever Had' was the second-to-last song I did. When I did it, I was like, 'Cool, it adds a little bounce to [the mixtape],' but I wasn't crazy about it. And that song went #1. That's the one thing that's weird about working on this project, is that I have to choose a single before you actually hear it. I like when people dictate. But I can't wait until March to put out a single, I have to pick one. But I'll figure it out ... when I have a couple more joints. I know the direction I want it to go. I definitely know I want it to connect with the women again. I think that's always important for me. On the album everybody will get their moment. Whatever you like or love about Drake will be there."

The much-anticipated showdown between Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather, tentatively scheduled for March 13 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, has collapsed, Top Rank promoter Bob Arum told ESPN.com on Wednesday night.
"The fight's off," Arum, who promotes Pacquiao, said from Las Vegas.
The fight died after a last-ditch attempt at mediation between Top Rank and Golden Boy, which represents Mayweather, failed in an effort to determine the drug testing protocol.
The fight died after a last-ditch attempt at mediation failed in an effort to determine the drug testing protocol.
Pacquiao had agreed to move off his hard-line stance of refusing a blood test inside 30 days before the fight, but Mayweather wouldn't budge off his desire for random testing all the way until the fight, Arum said. Nor would Mayweather agree to a public apology for remarks he made accusing Pacquiao of using performance-enhancing drugs, Arum said.
"I am very disappointed that we could not make this fight for the fans and I am angered because of the false accusations from Golden Boy and the Mayweather camp that I used some type of drugs, and that is why I have instructed our American lawyers to proceed with the lawsuit to clear my name," Pacquiao said in a statement
Arum said Pacquiao would move on and likely fight junior middleweight titlist Yuri Foreman on March 13 or March 20.
The fight was to have been on HBO PPV, a sure blockbuster many believed would break the all-time pay-per-view record of 2.44 million buys set by Mayweather's 2007 fight with Oscar De La Hoya, who owns Golden Boy Promotions. But Arum said he had informed HBO PPV boss Mark Taffet that the fight was off.
Had the fight done the monster numbers organizers expected, it would have likely generated in the neighborhood of $200 million with the fighters receiving in roughly $40 million apiece.
Richard Schaefer, the CEO of Golden Boy and the point person for the company on the negotiations, did not return multiple messages.
The sides had negotiated every point of the deal except for the drug testing procedures. The fighters agreed to unlimited random urine testing, but Mayweather insisted on random blood testing as well, even though the Nevada State Athletic Commission, which would regulate the fight, requires only urine testing.
Pacquiao (50-3-2, 38 KOs) didn't want any blood testing but had agreed to take three blood tests: one during the week of the kickoff news conference, which would have taken place next week, one random test to be conducted no later than 30 days before the fight and a final test in his dressing room after the fight. Mayweather (40-0, 25 KOs) would have been subject to the same testing procedures.
When they could not come to an agreement on the drug testing, they enlisted the aid of a mediator, retired judge Daniel Weinstein, who successfully mediated a series of disputes between Top Rank and Golden Boy, which represents Mayweather, in June of 2007. At the center of the problem was ownership of the promotional rights to Pacquiao, who had signed contracts with both companies before eventually pledging his loyalty to Top Rank. Under the settlement, Top Rank got Pacquiao's contract with Golden Boy retaining a small percentage.
With lawyers at their side, Top Rank's Arum, company president Todd duBoef, Golden Boy's Schaefer and De La Hoya, along with Mayweather adviser Al Haymon, spent nine hours in mediation on Tuesday in Santa Monica, Calif.
The sides struck a deal during the marathon session Tuesday, but it was contingent on getting the fighters to sign off, Arum said.
On Wednesday, they were back in their offices -- Golden Boy in Los Angeles and Top Rank in Las Vegas -- and worked the phones with their clients while still under Weinstein's gag order not to talk to the media.
Arum said Pacquiao agreed to ease his demands on the drug testing window but Mayweather wouldn't.
Arum said Pacquiao agreed to shorten the window for a blood test to 24 days before the fight. In order to receive a Nevada boxing license, Pacquiao took the standard annual blood test 24 days before his May 2009 fight with Ricky Hatton.
"Manny accepted what was on the table and Mayweather rejected it," Arum said. "Haymon and Schaefer tired to convince Floyd all [Tuesday night] and [Wednesday] and he wouldn't agree to it. He didn't want the fight. He never wanted the fight. I always knew the fight wouldn't happen."
The drug testing became a major issue when Floyd Mayweather Sr., the father of the fighter, made several public remarks accusing Pacquiao of using performance-enhancing drugs without a shred of proof. Mayweather Jr. later made similar remarks about him using PEDs, even though Pacquiao denies it and has never failed a drug test.
"When the fight was offered, Manny accepted it with no hesitation," Pacquiao adviser Michael Koncz told ESPN.com from the Philippines, where he was with Pacquiao. "We're not surprised. We saw this coming once they started this drug bull----. It was a way for them to get out of the fight. I don't think Mayweather expected Manny to accept the challenge so quickly."
The accusations led Pacquiao to file a defamation lawsuit last week in Nevada U.S. District Court against Mayweather Jr., Schaefer, Golden Boy president De La Hoya, Floyd Mayweather Sr., Roger Mayweather and Mayweather Promotions.
"The guys who should be most disappointed in the fight being off are Schaefer and De La Hoya because they went along with this guy [Mayweather] and ended up with gatz and a big lawsuit," Arum said.
Said Koncz: "We agreed to move the drug testing to 24 days under the supervision of the Nevada commission and Mayweather still wouldn't budge. So now what we've done is give up maybe $40 million to take a stand for Manny's principles. We will proceed with the lawsuit in an effort to clear his name and tarnished image. Even if they make a public apology it's not enough. Now they'll have to prove to a judge that Manny is on drugs, which they won't be able to do because he's not. Manny is pissed off because he feels Floyd is a chicken and because he tarnished his reputation. This is about principle. We have nothing to hide."
Golden Boy also risks losing its share in Pacquiao's contract, Arum said.
They also risk losing their share in Pacquiao's contract, Arum said.
"There's an arbitration which calls for them to lose any percentage of Manny's promotional contract, something we asked for and had postponed, but now it will go forward," Arum said. "We did that two weeks ago before Manny filed his lawsuit. It's binding arbitration. Our request was for Golden Boy to forfeit its interest in Pacquiao's contract based on the fact that they had demeaned Pacquiao with their remarks [alleging he used PEDs] and that it violated the [2007] agreement between Pacquiao, Top Rank and Golden Boy."
Arum now plans on moving forward with Pacquiao facing Foreman, who won his 154-pound title on the Nov. 14 undercard of Pacquiao's 12th-round knockout of Miguel Cotto to win a welterweight belt. Pacquiao would move up in weight to try to win a title in his eighth division. Pacquiao already holds the record, having won titles in seven divisions.
Mayweather could also still fight on another date in March, potentially against former junior welterweight titlist Paulie Malignaggi.
"We're going to talk to the MGM because they're out of a fight," Arum said.
Arum added that the fight could also wind up at the Thomas & Mack Center in Las Vegas or perhaps in Dallas, where Cowboys owner Jerry Jones made a strong pitch to bring Pacquiao-Mayweather to his new stadium.

SYMMES TWP. – Authorities say two young girls entered 1st National Bank on busy Fields Ertel Road on Tuesday afternoon, handed a bank teller a note demanding money and made their getaway.
With helicopters flying overhead and at least one police canine on the ground, the two girls – who police believe are 14 to 15 years old and 12 years old – got away with cash. The Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office would not say how much.
The girls entered the bank at 9015 Fields Ertel Road at about 3:20 p.m., according to sheriff’s office spokesman Steve Barnett.
The older girl is described as black, heavyset, 5-feet 4-inches to 5-feet 5-inches tall, and wearing a dark knit cap, dark hooded sweat shirt and blue jeans. The younger girl is described as black with a thin build, and 5-feet tall to 5-feet 2-inches tall. She was reportedly wearing a baseball cap with the round tag still hanging from it.
Authorities say the girls implied they would harm bank employees, but did not appear to have any weapons. The sheriff’s office would not say whether surveillance equipment caught pictures of the girls and did not release any surveillance photos.
The bank is across the street from busy Symmes Square Shopping Center and Kings Auto Mall.

The 'Beautiful’ singer – who will release her fourth LP, 'Bionic’, in March – says her sound has changed dramatically since she became a mother to her 23-month-old son Max.
She told Marie Claire magazine: "I had a really hard time being light before. I'd get a little weird about it being too cliched. My first record was very cliched pop - what everyone else wanted.
''Stripped’ was inspired by a lot of pain and 'Back to Basics’ still had some sort of relation to my past.
'My new one is just about the future - my son in my life, motivating me to want to play and have fun.
'Things that maybe I've been afraid to do in the past, to allow myself to go to a place of 'less singing’. I'm more vulnerable and stronger at the same time."
It seems motherhood is now having a different effect Christina – who is married to music producer Jordan Bradman – since she started recording the LP.
In October, the 29-year-old pop star claimed it would be "unfair" if she changed her career or style just because she had a family.
Asked how becoming a mom had affected her attitude to work, she said: "As far as motherhood affecting me creatively goes - like, I shouldn't be wearing that because I'm a mom – it hasn’t. That wouldn't be fair to me.
"It's important to keep a strong sense of yourself when you're a mom. You're still you."
