The Boy Illinois dropped another banger with this classic Chi-town artist YP, "Downtown". Spitting over a simple beat, YP and Illi set up a typical tag team with the one liner hook to keep fans engaged and on edge. The Boy Illinois opens the single, dropping clues about hustling in the heart of the city, staying legal and low. YP closes out the song with Chicago references from Michael Jordan to CPN numbers & paints a visual of oak street, downtown. An unorthodox match up yet they both bring their own unique touch, describing the heartbeat of Chicago: "Downtown."

On Tuesday, January 20, 2016, ILoveMakonnen came out of the closet via Twitter. The "Tuesday" singer said he felt it was time the world knew he was homosexual.
"Someone said to me next time they see me, they was gonna fuck me. I said next time I see me, I'm gonna love me up," he wrote on the social networking site. "As a fashion icon, I can't tell u about everybody else's closet, I can only tell u about mine, and it's time I've come out. And since y'all love breaking news, here's some old news to break, I'm gay. And now I've told u about my life, maybe u can go life yours."
In an interview published by Rolling Stone on Wednesday, February 8th, Atlanta rap trio Migos were asked how they felt about the support Makonnen has gotten since his announcement.
"Damn, Makonnen! They supported him?" Quavo asked.
Offset chimed in, saying "That's because the world is fucked up."
"This world is not right," Takeoff added.
Quavo wanted to make it clear that the group wasn't homophobic, but questioned whether Makonnen could have actually lived the drug dealer lifestyle he sang about as a gay man.
"He first came out talking about trapping and selling Molly, doing all that," he said. "That's wack, bro."
What are your thoughts? Does being gay mean you can't have street credibility? And should an artist's fan base abandon them for admitting they're a lesbian or homosexual?

Boston rapper Born ditches the colder temperatures of his hometown for the tropical paradise of the Dominican Republic for his new single and video, “Hot Topic,” featuring Quavo (of Migos).
The island-themed track finds Born (of famed Boston duo G. Dot & Born) continuing to play to his strengths, particularly his ability to craft bangers of all types. With “Hot Topic,” he’s a bit more on the low-key and chilled-out tip. And he embraces that relaxed vibe while sharing vocal duties with Quavo, who again proves he is the reigning king of the ad-lib game.
In the video for “Hot Topic,” the two are just as natural on screen as they are in the studio. With director Starlyn Javier capturing their exploits, Born and Quavo dive headfirst into extravagance during their time spent in the DR. This includes making their way through the tropical scenery, hanging with an abundance of attractive women (they being the song’s actual topic), and ballin’ out in a crazy-beautiful mansion.
“Hot Topic” is now available through all major digital retailers for stream and download, via EMPIRE Distribution. Be sure to peep Born’s most recent project, ‘Born Flexin’,' which has amassed over half a million streams on SoundCloud.

Former State Property member Oschino was expecting to get support for fellow Philadelphia rapper, Meek Mill, when his new "Appetizer 7" project was released. He didn't get it and is now throwing shots at the Dreamchasers boss.
Meek has credited Oschino in the past for supporting him while he was signed with Roc-A-Fella Records, when no other Philly rappers would. That's part of O's beef with him now. Because he feels like the tables are turned and Meek isn't returning the favor.
In a video posted to his Instagram account, Oschino breaks down why this has become a point of contention.
"I dropped Appetizer 5, Appetizer 6 ... he [didn't post it on his Instagram]. I ain't have no problem with that," Oschino says. "He hit me up when his shit came out, like 'Damn, I'm still your young. One hand wash the other, put my shit up.' Ain't no big deal. I put that shit up, 'cause it ain't deep. I said 'Make sure when my shit come out you put it up.' Remind you, he's got millions of followers ... that's money."
I look at his page [and] my shit ain't up. I look again, his page deactivated," he continued. "So, I was talking about it on [Instagram Live]. He must have watched my page from somebody else's. I don't know what I said, but he caught feelings. He a sissy nigga. Y'all know he a sissy nigga. The same nigga who got mad about Drake and Wale not putting his shit up. So I text him, 'You gon' put it up or not?' [Meek responded] 'Don't text my phone like I owe you. I don't owe you nothing. I ain't scared of you.' Who said you scared of me? You a fucking coward? It ain't that deep. You ain't gotta put my shit up. At least I know what it is now. I ain't gotta ask you again."
Meek hasn't responded yet, but he most likely will soon.

The deal puts to rest a longstanding beef between Hov and Jim that dates back over a decade to the Roc-A-Fella Records era.
TMZ reports that Roc Nation will now handle all facets of Jim's career. That includes music, acting and fashion.
According to the website, the "We Fly High" hit maker wanted to show other rappers that it's possible to put past differences aside and do business with former rivals.
Congrats to Jim!

The Boy Illinois salutes his grandfather and Migos with the remix of T- Shirt aka "On The Road." Talking about tour life and hustling to become the new "It" artist out of Chicago, Illi paints clever metaphors and imagery with this freestyle. Its rare when an artist can mention "Haiku" in their verse but can be expected from an artist such as The Boy Illinois. Prepping for his upcoming EP Road Winds, "On The Road" is simply a warm up track to remind fans that he embodies the art of freestyle even in his emerge to fame. Continuing to gain support of city, The Boy Illinois mentions Bump J one of his influences upcoming release from jail, paying homage to "Being in the streets but not in the streets."
Roye drops single “Swing My Door” proving he’s bringing a different sound out of Chicago like no other. The catchy hook which was motivated by life in the Englewood area, parallels with the attributes of hustling and having product in demand. With the heavy Chi-town accent fused with Roye easy going cadence, the single relates to anyone making money. The change up from hook to verses is an organic transition of Roye’s versatility. His references of cheese, bread to the 20’s and 50’s, Swing My Door mid-tempo beat preps new fans to get ready for the summer and level up

The estate of late New Orleans comedian, rapper and YouTube star, Messy Mya, is taking Beyonce to court, accusing the singer of using unauthorized vocal snippets of his in one of music videos.
Mya, born Anthony M. Barre, uploaded videos to YouTube of himself strolling around New Orleans, giving comedic opinions on people and places in the city.
Beyonce used snippets from two of those videos, "Booking The Hoes From New Wildin" and "A 27-Piece Huh?" in the beginning and middle of the music video for "Formation," off of her 2016 album titled "Lemonade."
Mya's estate claims the audio was sampled without their permission. Attempts to reach Beyonce have been unsuccessful.
TMZ reports that the estate is now suing her for more than $20 million in back royalties and other damages.
Mya was was shot and killed in New Orleans on November 14, 2010. He was 22-years old. His murder remains unsolved.
