UFC President Dana White got combat sports fans talking this week when he announced he was negotiating with Floyd Mayweather about fighting in the octagon.
That news came after Money May said on Instagram Live earlier this month that he could sign a billion dollar deal with the organization if he wanted to.
"They just called me not too long ago and asked me to come back," he said on December 11. "I can come right back. If I wanted to I could come right back to the UFC. I can go fight in the Octagon. I can go do a three or four-fight deal in the Octagon and make a billion dollars. Remember, I'm Floyd 'Money' Mayweather."
In a subsequent interview with Fighthype, Floyd shot down those rumors and clarified his statement.
“That’s not what I said. Exactly what I said is this, if I made a billion dollars before, I could do it again. If I chose to get in the UFC and fight three fights or fight four fights and then fight Conor McGregor, I could make a billion dollars, which I can," he explained. "I can do it in three fights or even four fights, I could make a billion dollars if I choose to get into the Octagon and fight.
“We just don’t know what the future holds for Floyd Mayweather. I don’t look forward to getting back in a boxing ring. That’s what I don’t look forward to doing. I’m just saying I could," Mayweather explained. "I’m not doing it — but I’m saying what I could do to make a billion dollars quick if I wanted to do that. That’s what I was saying. I never said I was going to fight in the UFC. I didn’t say that. I said if I wanted to and what I could do. I’m not going to do it though.”
Well, there you have it.

Hip Hop journalist Reggie 'Combat Jack' Ossé has passed away. According to Billboard, he was in his early 50's, although it's been reported that he was 48.
In October 2017, Ossé announced that he had been diagnosed with colon cancer, but was optimistic he could regain his health through "chemo and alternative medicine.”
“Your boy aint going nowhere,” he wrote at the time. “We’re gonna keep doing this. Keep rocking with us.”
Ossé was a Georgetown-educated lawyer, who began to blog about music in 2004. He eventually began hosting the popular podcast. "The Combat Jack Show," in 2010.
"He was known as an attorney, but he had the soul of an artist," Chris Morrow, co-founder and CEO of Loud Speakers Network, which produced Ossé's show told Billboard "Reggie's always been a talker. There's a role for that in law. But it really blossomed when he decided to become a creator."
Our deepest condolences go out to Ossé's family and friends.

On the latest episode of Mass Appeal's “Open Space,” the elegant Remy Ma takes center stage, waxing poetic on a wide range of topics, from the intent behind her viral show of unity among female emcees at this year’s Summer Jam concert, to more tense memories, including the realization that, despite all her success, she’d spent most of her adult life behind bars.
“The whole beef thing was still lingering around and everybody was like, Yo you gotta go up there and kill shorty,” Remy recalls about her Summer Jam set, during which she brought out several guest performers during a 22-minute set, including Queen Latifah, Eve, Cardi B and MC Lyte, as a show of unity among the women in rap. “It’s easy to tear something down, that’s the easy part. It’s harder to build something. And that’s what I wanted to do. This is the most that female rap has been talked about in years. What can I do, so that it resonates? Not just for right now, but after Summer Jam.”
It wasn’t easy pulling that together. “Everybody told me I couldn’t do it,” she says. “Because women are ‘catty.’ This one doesn’t like this one, this one doesn’t like that one. I used up my whole budget, and I started making phone calls.”
Elsewhere, Remy’s tone turns solemn as she describes a time of her life that’s thankfully behind her—the 'Seven Winters and Six Summers' she spent behind bars.
“I was getting one visit, two phone calls and three showers a week,” she says. “And, that’s true. That was my life for a long period of time. One visit, two calls, three showers. And as a woman, that is horrible. It was very degrading…”
