Video And Poll After The Jump

MIAMI (Associated Press) — LeBron James delivered his message loud and clear, without actually saying a word.

He's willing to leave Miami, if that's what it will take to win more championships. And what happens next will likely be up to not just the Heat, but Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh as well.

Through his agent, James informed the Heat on Tuesday that he has decided to opt out of the final two years of his contract, a move that means he becomes a free agent on July 1. He will be able to sign with any team, including Miami, and Heat President Pat Riley said he "fully expected" James to take advantage of his early termination option.

"We look forward to sitting down with LeBron and his representatives and talking about our future together," Riley said.

618_348_best-of-dads-playbook-pat-riley.jpg

The Heat have been preparing for this for some time. James, Wade and Bosh all got six-year contracts when they teamed up in Miami in July 2010, the last time free agency was accompanied by the sort of frenzy that will envelop the league over the next few weeks. But each of those deals came with options to leave either this summer or in 2015, in part to allow both the players and the team to have financial flexibility.

James — who averaged 27.1 points this past season — was owed $42.7 million for the next two seasons, though that seems irrelevant in the sense that he'll be getting plenty of money from the Heat or someone else for years to come. If he stays with Miami, he could sign a deal that would give the team room to maneuver within the structures of the salary cap and luxury-tax threshold.

So could Wade and Bosh, if they choose to opt out as well — and if both do, Miami would potentially have plenty of cash to spend on roster upgrades. Neither has announced their plans.

"No news here yet," Wade said Tuesday.

Heat James Basketball

James stayed silent as well, with agent Rich Paul being the one who informed the Heat of the four-time NBA MVP's plan. But last week, while still dealing with the sting of losing the NBA Finals to San Antonio, James expressed how enticing the idea of flexibility is to him.

"Being able to have flexibility as a professional, anyone, that's what we all would like," James said last week. "That's in any sport, for a football player, a baseball player, a basketball player, to have flexibility and be able to control your future or your present. I have a position to be able to do that. ... There's a lot of times that you're not in control of your future as a professional."

He's in control now. He turns 30 next season. He might just be entering his prime.

And while opting out was largely expected, the ripple effect of James' move was seen all over the sports world.

The NFL, on its Twitter account, posted a photo of James dunking a football over the crossbar at the stadium his beloved Dallas Cowboys call home, light-heartedly asking him if he wanted to pass some time in a training camp while making his decision. And U.S. Soccer, also in a tweet, said it has a new team for him — then attached a photo of men's national team jersey bearing James' name and No. 6.

Even hockey got into the act.

"You know, you'd be 6-10 on skates," someone posted to the Carolina Hurricanes' Twitter account, in a message to James.

For now, all that seems certain is James sticking to basketball. What team, that's now up for debate.

He's been with the Heat four seasons, been to the NBA Finals in each of those years, winning two championships and winning more games than any other team over that span. He seems to have largely recovered from the hit his image took when he left Cleveland for Miami in 2010, often saying he's much happier now as a person than he was then.

Plus, his life has changed. He married longtime girlfriend Savannah Brinson last year, and the couple is expecting their third child.

"Players have a right to free agency and when they have these opportunities, the right to explore their options," Riley said. "The last four seasons have been historic and LeBron James, Dwyane Wade, Chris Bosh and Erik Spoelstra have led the Miami Heat to one of the most unprecedented runs in the history of the NBA."

Pics After The Jump

Jhené Aiko graces the cover of the the latest issue of Vibe. In the cover story she talks about her family, being a bitch in school, discovering music in the second grade, signing her first record deal at age 12 and comparisons to Sade.

“When she was doing her mixtape [sailing soul(s)], she was describing the sound she was going for,” says her older sister Miyoko. “I remember saying, ‘Oh, you wanna be like a hip-hop Sade.’ And she was like, ‘Exactly.’” Jhené welcomes the title where it fits. “That’s great if people think that because she’s amazing,” says Jhené. “That’s someone I’d love to be in the same lane as.”

SMS Promotions fighter Yuriorkis Gamboa steps back into the ring on Saturday, June 28, to face Terence Crawford for the WBO Light-heavyweight Championship on HBO After Dark at 10 p.m. ET/PT.

50 Cent recently spoke with Vibe.com's Terrence Watson to talk about the big fight and much more.

12350912082?profile=original

50 man, let’s just straight into it. First I want to know how did SMS Promotions come about? Once the whole TMT Promotions with Floyd [Mayweather] halted, what made you push into the boxing world?

I mean well, to be honest, I was getting involved with boxing to help Floyd out. He hasn’t shown passion outside boxing. He’s making all his money in one avenue, but once boxing stops, then what? The only thing that makes us special is our passion for things. Einstein had a passion for science, that’s what made him special. Floyd’s going to go down as one of the best in the sport, so its the same thing.

But once I saw Floyd wasn’t passionate about the boxing promotions side, after we had everything set and had done all the groundwork, I had to keep going. Once I acquired the fighter’s, I had a company.

Right, so it wouldn’t make sense for you to stop. That doesn’t even sound like something you’d do. SMS is rolling with a strong roster, but I feel like Gamboa is the one who might be the next star. I’ve followed him as a fighter and I follow him on twitter. He likes to talk a lot of shit, but he can back it up. Was that the common ground the two of you had that lead him to joining the team?
Yeah, first Floyd provided the opportunities, as far as the roster goes because he’s in the gym. He knows who’s the going to pop. I wasn’t in it enough to look for fighters. Him being there and seeing him work. Yuri was training to fight Brandon Rios and Floyd. One thing I noticed was that Floyd never spared him [Gamboa]. It’s the same thing that I saw when I filming Righteous Kill with Al Pacino and Robert De Niro were on set together. They have the same aura.

So do you think, since at this point who knows if we’ll ever see Manny Pacquiao against Mayweather, that Yuri and Floyd might be the better fight?
If they go up to the same weight class, it could be one of those things that we can build for. Floyd will stay away from you if he really has to fight you, though. But Terence Crawford can’t go anywhere now, so he better be ready. Gamboa is all the way prepared for this.

We’ve seen the beginning of some of the smarter businessmen of the rap game merge with the sports world. Obviously Jay and Roc Nation Sports is doing well. Are there any plans to venture out with SMS promotions and maybe keep signing more fighters/represent more athletes down the line?
Yeah, I’m expanding in the later portion in the year. You’ll see me add more to the roster and makes some bigs moves down the line.

I want to ask a little about hip-hop. You jumped on Cuffin Season and the whole G-Unit crushed Drake’s 0 to 100. How happy are you to be back with the crew making real gritty, put you in 8-headlock music?
Thats what hip hop is to me. That’s what defined it, for me. It mirrors your true experiences. With that said, everyone experiences something different and not that ones better than the other. but, it’s like, bad news travels fast, right? Aggressive energy is the same way. People enjoy it.

That Drake record is perfect a perfect example. Listen to what he’s saying, it is a G-Unit record.

12350911894?profile=original

Right, that’s honestly the first thing I thought after I listened to it. It took me back to the like that early to mid 2000’s era of a G-Unit posse-cut.
Drake is talented in different ways, he’s like LL. He can do a song like I Shot Ya and then do a song like I Need Love. Plus, he can sing on the record and you want to hear him sing.

We’re in an interesting point in hip hop. The OG’s are still relevant and making music alongside the newer artists. What does that say about the growth of the genre?
It says that were far more broader than when I started. We’re at the period where we’re defining what cool is again. You work hard enough, it’ll come back full circle. When they’re [hip-hop] is doing something different, let it go and change and grow. When I came out, I didn’t have other artists on Get Rich Or Die Trying because that’s what other artists were doing. I had to be myself, that’s how u have a moment. If an artist is starving, he’ll have hopes of dong what works to get paid and I understand it. But, in this case, I’ve achieved the financial security to do what I want to do musically.

Video After The Jump

Former Philadelphia Eagles and Indianapolis Colts wide receiver Hank Baskett is getting his name dragged through the mud by a transsexual YouTube personality who claims the two had a sexual encounter.

Ava Sabrina London told the National Enquirer he hooked up with Baskett after he contacted him in April after seeing one of his videos.

12350910289?profile=original

London goes into graphic detail about their sexual encounter during a video interview for the publication. He was paid $400 by Baskett.

“Hank absolutely knew that I was a transsexual and he told me that I was the only transsexual he’s ever been with,” London said. “He thought I was beautiful.”

12350910101?profile=original

The biggest problem Baskett faces now is that he's married to former Playboy playmate Kendra Wilkinson. The couple have two young children together. Wilkinson was eight months pregnant at the time of the affair. She reportedly kicked her husband out of their home after the story broke.

12350910892?profile=original

RadarOnline reports that London has passed a lie detector test administered by former Secret Service agent Joseph Paolella on June 18.

Police believe that a rivalry between two Georgia rap groups has resulted in the death of one person.

According to 11 Alive, Migos has been feuding with another group named 2-G. On June 11, 2 affiliates of 2-G went to a Quality Inn in Gwinnett County where a party was being held for Migos and started shooting.

"When they came to the party, they brandished firearms and they began to shoot into the crowd of 30 to 40 people, just aimlessly," said Gwinnett County Police Investigator Deon Washington. "There is an ongoing war between affiliates of 2-G and the more popular rap group referred to as the Migos, which is a rap trio that originated in Gwinnett County. We have documented incidences of violence between both 2-G and Migos over the past six months or so."

12350913876?profile=original

Just released surveillance footage shows the two gunmen walking at the Quality Inn. 15 seconds later they are seen fleeing the scene.

12350914494?profile=original

23-year old Paris Brown, a fan of Migos attending the party was killed.

12350914691?profile=original

Corey Marzette

Corey Marzette has been identified as one of the two shooters. A warrant has been issued for his arrest. The 22-year old has been charged with Aggravated Assault and Murder. The second gunman has not been identified.

12350915474?profile=original

Washington says he is not getting cooperation from Migos in the ongoing investigation.

"The don't want to jeopardize their street credibility by cooperating with law enforcement," said Washington.
