Video After The Jump

Adolph Thornton Jr., aka Young Dolph, aka "Notorious Dolph" aka "Dolph Obama" has been riding high on the success of his latest album Bulletproof. He also made headlines back in February for surviving a brazen attempt on his life—100 shots were fired at his SUV while on his way to a show in Charlotte, N.C. And he still made it to the stage.

Last week the young boss who titled his 2016 album King of Memphis stopped by MASS APPEAL HQ and opened up about his early days on "the wild Hundreds" of Chicago's Southside.

"My grandmama in Memphis, she came and took me when I was about two years old and took me to Memphis," Dolph recalls in a remarkable Open Space interview. At the time his mother and father were "in the streets," struggling with drug and alcohol addiction.

"I had a problem with my parents when I was younger," Dolph explains. "I just felt like, 'Aw shit, they don't give a fuck about us.' They doin' they thing. They can't do shit for us. We don't see them." Once he got older and gained more experience he gained an understanding for his parents' situation. "Someone who's just an alcoholic in itself they can't function. That shit is just all bad." Still he remembers the day his mama told him he was going to be a star.

Dolph would go on to fulfill his mother's prediction, establishing his name in the rap game. "I made a song," he says, recalling the birth of his 2008 mixtape, Paper Route Campaign. "Went to the hood. Went to the spots. Went everywhere, like... Pull up on my boys. Lettin' them hear it. They jump out the car. This is you?" He watched the wave build until his debut mixtape became a regional phenomenon: "First it started from, 'We finna show my boys—let me see what it sound like.' To 'Damn, the hood, they love it!' To 'Damn, we got the whole city on this shit!' To 'Damn, we got the whole state!' 'Down there in Mississippi on this shit!' 'Down there in Alabama!' 'Now we in Carolina!' It's like the measles, the shit spread. And you like... It's a feeling you can't explain."

After recounting the high associated with musical success, Dolph also shares his feelings about a near-fatal car crash in 2013—as well as his thoughts on the close call he survived in Charlotte. "It was a crazy situation," Dolph says, calling the recent incident "the biggest test of my life." Asked if he was surprised that the shooting happened, Dolph states: "I was surprised but I wasn't surprised if that make sense." One thing's for sure, he's not tripping. Maybe that's why they call him "the realest in it."

"I tell fake from real just offa actions," says a man who's been through some real situations. "Fuck everything else. Shit don't make sense I don't want part of it. Shit makes sense, I'm with it all the way." Check out the full interview below.

Drake may soon be a father. That's if former porn star Sophie Brussaux p.k.a. Rosee Divine is to be believed.

TMZ reports that Brussaux, who is 3 1/2 months pregnant with a girl, is going all out to prove that Drizzy is the dad. She's hired two prominent New York City attorneys and is already looking at paternity/child support options.

Drake's rep isn't denying that the "One Dance" hit maker slept with Brussaux, but say it's unlikely the child is his.

"This woman has a very questionable background. She has admitted to having multiple relationships," the rep told TMZ. "We understand she may have problems getting into the United States. She's one of many women claiming he got them pregnant. If it is in fact Drake's child, which he does not believe, he would do the right thing by the child."

TMZ obtained an alleged text exchange from when Brussaux told Drake that she was pregnant.

Drake: I want you to have an abortion.

Brussaux: I can't kill my baby simply to indulge you sorry.

Drake: Indulge me? Fuck you.

Brussaux: What?

Drake: You do know what you're doing you think you're going to get money.

The two were photographed together on January 24th at a Japanese restaurant in Amsterdam.

Drake's rep claims that another big name rapper is actually the father of the child and has accepted responsibility.

Travis Scott and Lyor Cohen are locked in a legal battle with millions of dollars at stake.

TMZ reports that Cohen's LCAR Management has filed a lawsuit against their former client for allegedly not honoring the terms of his contract.

According to LCAR, Scott, real name Jacques Webster, Jr., signed with them in October 2014. He agreed to pay 15 percent of all of his entertainment income in return for their services.

Scott says the company did nothing for him, leaving him to manage himself. He switched to a better management firm and had his attorney send LCAR a letter, informing them he no longer needed them.

However, Cohen's team is not going away and are demanding Scott honor his contract. They want him to cough up what they are owed, to the tune of at least $2 million.

LCAR filed a lawsuit asking for an accounting of Scott's earnings and their cut from them.

Staying focused on your goals, ignoring anything that isn't optimistic, and keeping your eyes on the prize; all the above are major keys to making your dreams come true. One has to look no further than Florida-based rapper Major D-Star to see an example of following your inner compass towards success. "I always knew I would be rich," exclaims Major in the opening bars of his new single, "Dreams Of Being Rich." Chief Keef is in trouble with the law in Miami.

TMZ reports that the Chicago rapper, born Keith Cozart, failed to show up in court to be arraigned for his DUI and weed possession case, resulting in a warrant being issued for his arrest.

The "I Don't Like" hit maker was busted last month by the Miami Beach Police, during a traffic stop. Cops claim he was stopped because they allegedly witnessed a weed deal between a passenger in Keef's vehicle and another car.

During a subsequent search, marijuana was found in the second vehicle. Keef allegedly told officers, "It's okay. When you find weed in my urine I'll just get my attorney to get my marijuana card."

Keef was charged with felony DUI after failing a field sobriety test.
