Authorities have identified Toronto rapper Bvlly as the victim of a fatal Christmas Eve shooting in Ontario, Canada. He was 24.
The up-and-coming rapper, whose real name is Jahquar Stewart, suffered multiple gunshot wounds just before 3 a.m. on Tuesday, according to a press release from the Durham Regional Police.
Stewart was pronounced dead at the scene, the statement added. So far, no arrests have been made and a homicide investigation is underway.
The Toronto native burst onto the music scene with his 2018 debut single "No Light Bag." In September, he released his first album, "Made In Austria."

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (Fox46) - Rap star DaBaby was taken off in handcuffs following his concert Monday night at Bojangles Coliseum in Charlotte.
CMPD says they took Jonathan Kirk, the artists' formal name, into custody in the parking lot around 11 p.m. and issued him a citation for misdemeanor possession of marijuana. He was then released.
Around 8:30 p.m. CMPD says officers observed a white Dodge Charger driven by an occupant with DaBaby in the back and an odor of marijuana and attempted to talk to him and they say he walked away and refused to speak to them. Based on probable cause they determined they'd speak with him when he exited the concert. Officers stated they legally searched the vehicle, found marijuana, handcuffed the rapper, and transported him to another location for safety reasons.
He was initially charged with resisting arrest and drug possession, which was later reduced to a misdemeanor and obstruct and delay charges.
A cloud hung over the rapper's head earlier this year in connection to his alleged involvement with a fatal shooting incident involving a man who was shot and killed at a Walmart in Huntersville. The only charges he ended up facing were gun charges.
DaBaby held a toy giveaway earlier on Monday in Charlotte. He posted an Instagram Story Tuesday blaming CMPD for targeting him. The video appears to be showing CMPD officers searching his vehicle in the Bojangles parking lot.
He is nominated for two Grammy Awards and is set to perform during Super Bowl Week in Miami in 2020.

THE COLONY, Texas (AP) — A 19-year-old Texas man has been charged with capital murder after allegedly confessing to killing his pregnant sister, writing a fake suicide note in her name and leaving her body in an alley, authorities said Monday.
Officers arrested Eduardo Arevalo Sunday evening after finding the lifeless body of 23-year-old Viridiana Arevalo in the Dallas suburb of The Colony earlier in the day, according to city police. Viridiana had been reported missing five days earlier.
Arevalo allegedly killed his sister in their home on Dec. 16. During his confession, he told detectives he was embarrassed by her and believed she would not be a good mother, police spokesman Brian Lee said.
Arevalo initially drove his sister’s body somewhere outside the North Texas city where he felt it would not be found, according to a statement from The Colony police. But he allegedly retrieved the corpse early Sunday and brought it back to The Colony.
Police said video from the alley where Arevalo’s body was found helped them make the arrest.
Arevalo has not yet been arraigned and does not have an attorney, Lee said. He was being held in The Colony jail Monday.

A drunken NYPD officer in Tennessee got a slap on the wrist after he broke into a Black woman’s home, called her and her sons the N-word and threatened to hurt them. Despite the egregious nature of his offense, Michael J. Reynolds was only set to spend a couple of weeks in jail for terrorizing Conese Halliburton and her four sons in Nashville.
As many horror stories start out nowadays, an Airbnb was involved. Reynolds was renting one for a friend’s bachelor party in September when, according to the Tennessean, he began “kicking in the front door of [Halliburton’s next door] 12 South-area home and charging in in the middle of the night. Video surveillance taken from a neighbor’s RING camera showed Reynolds screaming and threatening the family and using racial slurs.”
After the break-in, Halliburton said that her dogs tried to bite Reynolds but that he would not be deterred.
“He kept coming down the hall,” she said. “Nothing was holding him back. He was like, ‘This is my mother fucking house’” before the surveillance footage showed Reynolds threatened them with racist, physical violence.
“Try to shoot me, and I’ll break every fucking bone in your fucking neck,” Reynolds said before calling them “fucking niggers.”
Reynolds was not arrested until days later even though Halliburton called 911 and police arrived after the NYPD cop’s illegal, racist and violent outburst.
Despite those facts, Reynolds was sentenced to just two weeks in jail and three years probation.
In classic and very privileged form, Reynolds tried to blame his racism and violence on the alcohol. The Tennessean reported that the cop testified that he thought Halliburton’s home was the house that he and his friends, several of whom are also NYPD cops, rented next door.
It was unclear what Reynolds’ current employment status was with the NYPD, but the Tennessean listed him as having “worked patrol in Manhattan” and wrote that “he was suspended for 30 days from his job, and although he had been decommissioned,” he was still employed as a police officer in New York City as of Dec. 6.

KATY, Texas — A father is on the run and a barber is in the hospital after a bizarre shooting in Katy.
Detectives say the 13-year-old son of the suspected shooter went into a barber shop in the 23900 block of Franz Road to get a haircut early Saturday. He went home and then went back with his father, who told them the haircut was not done properly.
Detectives said the barber fixed the haircut for free, but then, as they were leaving, the barber got into a fight with the father outside in the parking lot.
The son was already in the car, and that’s when the father shot the barber three times, in his stomach, leg and arm, deputies said.
That barber is at the hospital in stable condition, but the father and his son drove away.
“I think it’s just crazy for anyone to shoot anybody over a haircut, period," Detective Wallace Wyatt said. "Like I said, the disturbing part is his 13-year-old son witnessed this, which makes him a part of this, so this 13-year-old son knows he needs to come forward and tell us what happened. The father knows he needs to come forward and tell us what happened. Just to be an example, to be a good father and say, 'I messed up. I have something to prove to my son, and this is how you fix it.'"
There were several witnesses inside the barber shop when it happened. Detectives said they are also looking for surveillance video.
