PHILADELPHIA (AP) — 3 Philadelphia police officers were shot & wounded at a home & a suspect was killed early Wednesday when a SWAT team tried to arrest a man wanted on a homicide charge.

The shooting occurred around 6:30 a.m., soon after officers tried to serve a warrant in North Philadelphia, said First Deputy Commissioner John Stanford. The 19-year-old suspect, whose name was not released, fired at officers through a window as they were attempting to knock on the front door.

Officers entered the house, where the man & officers exchanged gunfire, he said. The man tried to exit the back of the home while firing at officers, who returned fire.

The man was wanted for a homicide that occurred in August. He was also a suspect in several armed robberies.

The 19-year-old was taken to the hospital & pronounced dead, Stanford said. Police did not release details of his injuries or say how many times he had been shot.

One officer was shot in the hip, while another had a leg wound. A third officer was hit in the chest by a bullet that ricocheted off of his Kevlar vest. All 3 were taken to a hospital & were listed as stable.

“The fact that ... there are this many incidents with SWAT officers being fired upon, is not normal. We have come to believe this is a normal course of events. It is not,” Stanford said.

It was unclear how many people were in the home at the time of the shooting. But at least 1 other person was taken from the scene in handcuffs. Stanford said police don’t believe anyone else was involved in the shooting, but the investigation continues.

Amy Kupps of Charlotte, North Carolina, has had a very unconventional career path. She started off as a high school history teacher, then began moonlighting as an erotic OnlyFans model & now she wants to auction off her body for surrogacy to, in her words, "mass produce pretty babies."

But now Kupps, an apparent advocate of positive eugenics, believes that she can continue this line of work to help improve the aesthetics of the gene pool.

"I think the world would be a better place if people were better-looking & had my genes," the former teacher stated. "I will definitely pass down my amazing eyes, hair, strong facial features, high metabolism & intelligence."

Kupps claimed that she regularly receives requests from men — married & single alike — to carry their child & so, armed with confidence, she has determined to put her body up for "auction & offer it to the highest bidder."

Kupps has put some thought into this business model. She believes that she could conceive & carry up to 25 children.

"I want to carry lots of babies, but no more than 25 in total. That would be my limit," she said, "but it would get the ball rolling.

The self-described "devout Catholic" & "home-wrecker," who claims to have sexual relationships exclusively with married men, is not particular about the prospective fathers who might bid for her surrogacy services.

"It doesn’t matter if the man is ugly. The baby will be beautiful if I’m its mother," she said.

Lucy Letby has been accused of murdering 5 baby boys & 2 girls & attempting to murder 10 other babies at Countess of Chester hospital.

Nick Johnson KC, prosecuting, said she was a "constant malevolent presence" in the hospital's neonatal unit.

Ms Letby, 32, denies 22 charges at Manchester Crown Court.

Jurors heard Ms Letby is alleged to have tried to kill 1 child 3 times, while another died as a result of being injected with air.

"Prior to January 2015, the statistics for the mortality of babies in the neo-natal unit at the Countess of Chester were comparable to other like units," he said.

"However, over the next 18 months or so, there was a significant rise in the number of babies who were dying & in the number of serious catastrophic collapses."

Medics also noted that babies who had collapsed "did not respond to appropriate & timely resuscitation" & that others "collapsed dramatically, but then, equally dramatically, recovered".

"Having searched for a cause, which they were unable to find, the consultants noticed that the inexplicable collapses & deaths did have one common denominator," he said.

"The presence of one of the neonatal nurses & that nurse was Lucy Letby."

"That review suggests in the period between mid-2015 & the middle of 2016, somebody in the neonatal unit poisoned 2 children with insulin," he said.

"The prosecution say the only reasonable conclusion to be drawn from the evidence you will hear is that somebody poisoned these babies deliberately with insulin."

ATLANTA (AP) — Comedians Eric André & Clayton English are challenging a police program at the Atlanta airport they say violates the constitutional rights of airline passengers through racial profiling & coercive searches.

The 2 men filed a lawsuit in Atlanta alleging that they were racially profiled & illegally stopped by at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport.

They say officers singled them out during separate stops roughly 6 months apart because they are Black & grilled them about drugs as other passengers watched.

Officers blocked them as they entered the jet bridge & asked if they were carrying illegal drugs. Both were asked to hand over their boarding passes & identification. An officer said he wanted to search English’s bag & he agreed, not believing he had a choice.

The police department calls the stops “consensual encounters” & says they are “random,” but in reality the stops “rely on coercion & targets are selected disproportionately based on their race,” the lawyers argue.

From Aug. 30, 2020, to April 30, 2021, there were 402 jet bridge stops & the passenger’s race was listed for 378 of those stops. Of those 378 passengers, 56% were Black & people of color accounted for 68%.

Those 402 stops resulted in 3 reported drug seizures: about 10 grams of drugs, 26 grams of “suspected THC gummies” & 6 prescription pills without a prescription.

Those stops yielded more than $1 million in cash from 25 passengers. 8 challenged the seizures & Clayton County returned much of the money.

Carrying large quantities of cash doesn’t mean someone is involved in illegal drug activity, the lawyers argue, noting that people of color are less likely to have bank accounts & are more likely to carry large sums when they travel.

The 2 seek a jury trial & ask that the jet bridge interdiction program be declared unconstitutional. They also seek compensatory & punitive damages, as well as legal costs.

Ex-NBA star Ben Gordon is in trouble with the law again -- the former Sixth Man of the Year was arrested at an airport on Monday after allegedly hitting his 10-year-old son.

TMZ Sports has confirmed ... 39-year-old Gordon was placed in handcuffs around 9 PM while waiting for a flight from LaGuardia in New York to Chicago. Two officers were injured during the arrest, according to the New York Post, although further details surrounding the incident have not been released.

The 2004 third-overall pick in the NBA Draft was transported to the Port Authority police department for processing ... and an aunt took the son to a local hospital to get checked out.

Gordon won an NCAA Championship with Jim Calhoun at UCONN in 2004 ... and went on to average 15 points, 2.5 rebounds and 2.5 assists per game in his 11-year career.

He has had several legal issues off the court -- he was arrested in June 2017 for allegedly freaking out in an apartment building and pulling the fire alarms.

Five months later, he was arrested for allegedly roughing up a man in an apartment.

Gordon spoke out about his battles with depression in 2020 ... saying, "I was obsessed with killing myself," but sought help to better his mental health.

You'd think being a musician in 2022 would be easy with all the technology artist have access to. Truth of the matter is, it's more difficult now than ever before. Being an artist takes sacrifice, commitment, and hard work. “Urban” music more specifically, hip hop is a genre of art that reflects particularly, real-life community-based struggles for a specific group of people (the have-nots.) Additionally, I’m from a city not particularly known AT ALL for contributing to the culture of hip hop, so against all odds, no real guarantees, just the love for the music, you get Kadiz, aka Fresh Wes aka "The Heart of the City."

Born and Raised in Columbus, OH, however, attributing my name sake from the city of my late grandmother (Cadiz, Ohio.) I’ve been singing and rapping (publicly) since the tender age of seven in church and community choirs. Shortly after that, I began to perform in local talent shows, with varies groups, never winning, not even once, lol. I picked up playing the piano and other instruments at Fort Hayes (career center) around sixteen years old, which added another dimension to my gift and performance, captivating audiences ever since. I pull inspiration from virtually anywhere, However, listening to artist like Jay-Z, Tupac, Nas, Donny Hathaway, Stevie Wonder, Dr Dre etc. Really gets the creative juices flowing. For me, the goal is always to provide heartfelt lyrics put together over a variety of soulful sounding production, a combination that I like to refer to as "Street Soul."

The first "real' project I released, was released through an indie based company named Deka Records, the project was called "Suitcase of Memories" it was released mid-2010, and since then I've been releasing music on a regular bases, notably my personal favorite released in 2020, "Pieces of my Soul" up until that point, my life had me far out in the deep, because of that, “Pieces” turned out to be my most honest piece of work to date. On the business side of things, I've been building both a viral and organic fanbase across all social media, through hard work and paid promotions. The thing that makes me most proud is my resilience, there's no promises in this business so you really have to love it to keep going.

Prince Marc Jakob was born Marc Jakob Lewis in Ypsilanti, Michigan on March 7, 2012. The youngest of two, he started showing a strong interest in music early. Sunday mornings would often find Marc in church. At the tender age of three Marc would attempt to sing with the choir. INMAN, S.C. (AP) — Five people died Sunday night in a shooting at a home in northern South Carolina, authorities said,

Spartanburg County deputies and emergency workers found them suffering from gunshot wounds at a house in Inman, Spartanburg County Coroner Rusty Clevenger said in a statement.

Four people died at the scene and a fifth died in surgery at the hospital, authorities said.

All five people killed appeared to be adults, weren’t related to each other and were found in different parts of the home, the coroner said.

Spartanburg County deputies said they won’t release any additional information on the shooting until the coroner has identified the people killed and notified their families.

Clevenger said his office is performing autopsies and trying to identify the victims on Monday.

The home where the bodies were found is about 10 miles (16 kilometers) northwest of Spartanburg.

With stunning vocals and infectious tunes,  “It’s a Scorcher” is a must-listen for any fan of Ska and a brilliant addition to the band’s discography.

Freddie Notes rose to fame with his first hit track, “Return from South Vietnam,’ which was recorded in Regent Studios, London, and released on Dandy Livingston’s Downtown label. More hit tracks followed for Freddie including: “Montego Bay,” “Down on the Farm,” and “Chicken Inn,” all of which were dropped with the album “Montego Bay,” in 1970 on Trojan Records.

The Scorchers met Freddie in 2017 and played with Freddie on several occasions, including at the prestigious One Love Festival. Their stunning new collaboration, “It’s a Scorcher,” marks just one chapter from their debut 12-track album, ‘ROCKSTEADY REVOLUTION.’

The Scorchers remain influenced by early Jamaican Rocksteady, Ska, and Reggae, melding diverse rhythms, original lyrics, and memorable melodies, to form an iconic and unique sound – The Scorchers sound!

The Scorchers Rocksteady Ska Band was formed in 2017, but the band’s musicians and singers each have enjoyed many years of professional performances, touring, and recording sessions. Individual band members have toured with well-known artists over the past 25 years, including performances at festivals, clubs, and private parties. Freddie Notes was born in Kingston, Jamaica, and launched his career on the famous Vera Johns Jamaican Talent Show, soon cutting his first record for Studio One Records. Immigrating to London in 1964, Freddy’s career expanded when his band, FREDDIE NOTES & THE RUDIES, recorded for Trojan Records. Freddie spent three years with The Rudies before striking out as a solo artist and dropping a hit- “Walk A Mile In My Shoes.”

ABOUT

Errol “EJai” Allen is a Hip Hop singer-songwriter who was born in Brooklyn, New York, and raised in Hanover, Jamaica. Having been involved with music from a young age, EJai learned how to play the drums beating on his mom’s refrigerator, sang in the church choir, and competed in the JCDC musical arts festival as a child (attaining a number of medals in the process as well).

Later, EJai went on to write his own original music at the budding age of 17. The eclectic artist continued practicing finding his own sound, developing a smooth take on lines, developing rhythmic cadences, and improving his storytelling craft. A truly versatile superstar, today EJai has created music that spans from Jamaican Dancehall to American Hip-hop. He continues to inspire audiences by displaying his wide-ranging skills.

In the midst of the current social turmoil, Junior Toots stays positive and focused on his music career and on being the change he wishes to see. From 1997 until 2020 Junior Toots toured with his father Toots and the Maytals, performing some of his own songs such as “Holding Firm,” and “Jah Give Us Victory,” as well as doings some of his father’s songs such as “Funky Kingston” and “54 46”. He has also been steadily recording his own material as well as working on collaborations with other artists. Junior Toots has released five albums called Crown of Fire, Reggae Got Soul, Junior Toots and the Stronghold, A Little Bit of Love and Guidance Star. A Little Bit of Love hit #10 on the NACC World Charts. Junior Toots has also released many singles such as “Heart of the City” with GRW, “Physically Spiritually”, “His Name” with Akwerius and “Sweet and Dandy”, which was a tribute to his father. The idea to record “Sweet and Dandy” came from Toots Sr. who produced the track for his son which was released on December 8, 2020 to mark the day that would have been the 78th birthday for the recently transitioned Toots Hibbert or “Nyah” as he was called by his family. Other singles include “Green Lights” with GRW “Love The Herbs” and “Love Is The Best”

Sept 1, 2022 Junior Toots released the single, “Fayah Fi Di Wicked” featuring King Kanashi from the Virgin Islands and Blessed San from Uganda on his Crown of Fire Record Label. About the new single, Junior Toots shares, “This is a universal collaboration talking about the stress and frustration that the whole world is feeling – This is a prayer for the sick, this is prayer for the poor, this is a prayer for the people them living outdoors. This is a prayer for the poor, this is a prayer for the sick. Prayers for the people them living in the sticks”
