Dallas (NBC DFW) -- World welterweight champion boxer Errol Spence Junior is hospitalized in serious condition after being ejected from a Ferrari near downtown Dallas, reports say.
Spence, 29, was driving the Ferrari at a "high rate of speed" along South Riverfront Boulevard when he lost control of the vehicle and crashed shortly before 3 a.m., police sources tell NBC 5's partners at KRLD. The Ferrari veered left over the median and onto the southbound lanes, which sent the vehicle flipping multiple times, police said.
He was not wearing a seat belt, according to police.
Spence was taken by paramedics to Methodist Dallas Medical Center with injuries that were considered serious, but not life-threatening, police said. He remained in the intensive care unit of the hospital as of this writing.
The crash left extensive damage to both the front and rear of the vehicle.
The investigation into what caused the crash remains ongoing, police said.
No other injuries were reported.

Report via TMZ -- Rihanna is opening up on her decision to turn down the NFL's invitation to perform at the Super Bowl last year ... saying she "couldn't dare do that" to Colin Kaepernick.
It was widely reported that RiRi rejected the SB 54 halftime show -- the biggest entertainment event in the world -- because she believed the controversial NFL QB was being blackballed.
In her cover story with Vogue, the singer confirmed she was taking a stand against the league.
"I couldn’t dare do that. For what? Who gains from that? Not my people," Rihanna says ... "I just couldn’t be a sellout. I couldn’t be an enabler."
"There’s things within that organization that I do not agree with at all, and I was not about to go and be of service to them in any way.”
At the time, Rihanna wasn't shy about her displeasure with the shield ... and she even mocked the league in a video she posted while on an airplane during the Super Bowl.
The NFL ultimately landed Maroon 5 and Travis Scott for the performance. As for this year's gig, the league is teaming up with Jay-Z -- who's helping produce the halftime show starring Jennifer Lopez and Shakira.
As for Kap, he's clearly taken notice -- retweeting several posts highlighting Rihanna's comments.

Report via TMZ -- Lil Peep's own decisions to use drugs and follow down a "destructive path" are to blame for his OD ... so says the tour company being sued by Peep's mom for the rapper's death.
A rep for First Access Entertainment tells TMZ ... Peep's accidental drug overdose was a terrible tragedy, but the company "consistently encouraged Peep to stop abusing drugs and to distance himself from the negative influence of the drug users and enablers."
At the end of the day, First Access says, "He was an adult who made his own decisions and opted to follow a different, more destructive path."
TMZ broke the story ... Peep's mom, Liza Womack, filed a lawsuit Monday claiming First Access Entertainment and people associated with the company supplied Peep with drugs ... resulting in his 2017 death. Womack also claims Peep asked to stop touring several times, claiming he was mentally and physically exhausted ... but they forced him to continue.
Womack claims Peep was "pushed onto stage after stage in city after city, plying and propping" him up with drugs.
First Entertainment's calling BS ... claiming Womack was well aware of its numerous efforts to steer Peep away from his drug use. What's more -- First Entertainment claims the Medical Examiner ruled that Peep's death was accidental -- so bottom line ... it ain't their fault.
