South Florida rapper Kodak Black was arrested overnight in Pompano Beach.
Black was on Instagram live at the time of his arrest. The Instagram video showed possible drug paraphernalia and a possible weapon in his home.
Police searched the home, then took him into custody. There was a child inside the home at the time of the arrest.
Black appeared at the Broward County Courthouse, Friday morning.
He has been hit with seven felony charges, including grand theft of a firearm, possession of a weapon by a convicted felon, marijuana possession, child neglect without great bodily harm and probation violations from two previous arrests.
The 20-year-old rapper, whose his real name is Dieuson Octave, grew up in Pompano Beach.
“Mr. Octave was arrested yesterday,” said Black’s attorney Brad Cohen. “We’re gonna let the process play out. There’s several defenses to the arrest that was made, and we’re gonna handle it in due course, like anything. I’ve been working with Mr. Octave over the past six months. He’s made great strides, and this is of course a step back, but we’re gonna handle it, and we’re gonna raise the defenses that we need to raise.”
There will be a hearing to determine who will have custody of the child throughout the course of these legal proceedings.

Kodak Black was broadcasting on Instagram Live Thursday, January 18, when his house was raided by police.
The story is still developing, but it's being reported by TMZ that the 20-year old Florida rapper, born Dieuson Octave, was hauled off to Broward County jail.
Kodak has been hit with seven charges, including grand theft of a firearm, child neglect without great bodily harm, 2 charges of possession of weapon or ammo by a felon, possession of marijuana over 20 grams and 2 probation violation charges.

Billboard reports that the 25-year old Bronx, New York native has become the first woman with five of the top 10 hits on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart in a single week since the list began in 1958 She had previously been tied at 4 with Beyonce.
In addition, the rapper is the only artist to achieve the feat with her first five chart entries.
Currently "Bodak Yellow" (10), "Bartier Cardi" (7), "Motorsport" with Migos and Nicki Minaj (4), "No Limit" with G-Eazy (3) and "Finesse" with Bruno Mars (1) all sit comfortably in the top 10.

Cash Money Records co-founder, Bryan "Birdman" Williams, has been ordered to surrender the keys to his Miami mansion, according to The Blast.
The 48-year old business mogul allegedly used the home as collateral in 2012 to secure a $12 million loan from a company called EMG Transfer Agent.
EMG claims he defaulted on the loan and wants the home foreclosed on so they can collect what they are owed, plus interest and late fees.
The Blast reports that the judge in the case has told Birdman to vacate the premises until the case is resolved. It can't be sold in the interim, but can be rented or leased.
Birdman bought the crib, which once belonged to producer Scott Storch, in 2011 from Russell Weiner for $14.25 million. It features 9 bedrooms, 17 bathrooms, 100 feet of bay frontage, dockage, a pool, a hot tub surrounded by a moat, a massage room, a home theater, high ceilings and an elevator.
