Jennifer Faith, the widow of James Faith Jr. who was shot and killed while on a walk in October of 2020, was arrested on a federal charge for Obstruction of Justice in relation to the murder investigation of her husband, according to the Dallas Police Department.

James Faith was shot multiple times and killed while walking his dog with his wife near their Oak Cliff home in Dallas just after 7:30 a.m. on Oct. 9, 2020.

Darrin Lopez, an ex-boyfriend of 48-year-old Jennifer Faith, faces a murder charge in the shooting death of 49-year-old James Faith. Lopez and Jennifer Faith dated in high school and college, according to an arrest warrant affidavit.

According to court documents, Lopez drove from Tennessee to Dallas to murder Faith Jr. The Dallas County court document says Lopez had a "five-year plan of how" he and Jennifer Faith "would be together."

Officers transported Faith to Lew Sterrett jail where she will be held until she is moved to a Federal facility.

GILCHRIST COUNTY, Fla. – A Florida man who tied up his wife’s lover, held him at gunpoint and cut off his penis with a pair of scissors will serve a 20-year prison sentence for his crime.

Alex Bonilla, 51, entered a plea of no contest last month on charges of kidnapping to inflict bodily harm, burglary while armed, aggravated battery with a deadly weapon and aggravated assault with a firearm during the July 2019 attack.

He was also sentenced to 10 years of probation.

The Gilchrist County Sheriff’s Office said the victim called 911 around 11 a.m. on July 14, 2019 and said Bonilla, who was his neighbor, broke into his home armed with a gun and said that if the victim tried to resist, he’d kill him.

From there, deputies said Bonilla forced the victim into the bedroom and tied him up then “forcefully cut off the victim’s penis with a pair of scissors.”

Records show Bonilla took the severed appendage and ran off across the street to his own home.

Deputies never revealed a motive for the crime but said Bonilla had discovered the victim having sex with his wife about two months prior.

Court records show several friends and relatives of Bonilla wrote to a county judge, asking for leniency before the sentencing.

Bonilla’s son wrote that he’d like his father back home to contribute to the household financially and help his younger sister learn to read.

House lawmakers on Wednesday passed the George Floyd Justice in Policing Act, a police reform bill that would ban chokeholds & eliminate qualified immunity for law enforcement. The 220-212 vote came 9 months after Floyd, a 46-year-old Black man, was killed by Minneapolis police officers.

The wide-ranging legislation would also ban no-knock warrants, mandate data collection on police encounters, prohibit racial & religious profiling & redirect funding to community-based policing programs.

"Never again should an unarmed individual be murdered or brutalized by someone who is supposed to serve & protect them," said Rep. Karen Bass, D-Calif. "Never again should the world be subject to witnessing what we saw happen to George Floyd in the streets in Minnesota."

In debate on the House floor Wednesday evening before the vote, Democratic Rep. Ilhan Omar of Minnesota said Minneapolis is still traumatized by Floyd's death. "Time & time again we have witnessed the people who are sworn to protect our communities abuse their power," she said.

Last year, the House passed a similar version of the bill, but it failed in the Republican-controlled Senate. This time around, Senate Democrats will have to sway at least 10 Republican members for the bill to succeed.

Republicans say the legislation goes too far & would prevent police from doing their jobs effectively. Republican Rep. Carlos Gimenez of Florida said on the House floor Wednesday that the bill would "weaken & possibly destroy our community's police forces."

Earlier this week, the Biden administration released a statement urging the House to vote in favor of the proposal.
