Video After The Jump

Protesters took to the streets on Friday, March 6, after a 19-year old black man was shot five times by police in Madison, Wisconsin.

Cops responded to a call that Tony Robinson had committed battery earlier. When an officer arrived at his apartment he said he heard a disturbance inside. The cop forced his way into the apartment and reportedly got into a struggle with Robinson. During the fight the unidentified officer was reportedly hit in the head. He then drew his weapon and fired.

"In the context of mutual combat in that sense, the officer did draw his revolver and subsequently shot the subject," Madison Police Chief Mike Koval said.

Hours after Anthony Robinson was fatally shot by a Madison police officer, his grandmother, Sharon Irwin (second from the right), and aunt, Lorien Carter (pictured with the megaphone), asked the crowd at Williamson Street to keep demonstrations peaceful.

Police said they did not know if Robinson was armed, but initial indications are that he was not.

The officer on the scene administered CPR immediately after the shooting. Robinson was transported to a local hospital where he succumbed to his wounds.

State law mandates that an independent investigation be conducted. MPD froze the scene until the state Department of Justice's Division of Criminal Investigation arrived, according to The Daily Cardinal.

"You're not protecting us, you're killing us!" Robinson's grandmother, Sharon Irwin, shouted at police as the protests continued into early Saturday, according to The New York Daily News.

Protesters chanted "Black Lives Matter" and "Justice!"

Robinson's aunt, Lorien Carter, said the family wasn't allowed to see Robinson's body in the hospital because it was considered "evidence."

"He wasn't referred to as 'his son' or 'your son,' just 'evidence,'" she said.

Yorktown, Ny, Dec 15th, 2014 Stack Or Starve Approved announce the release of the “The New Age” mixtape by Adrian Charles Zidi aka "French Prince". The 10 track project, presented by Stack Or Starve Approved, will be available for download tomorrow Dec 16th via Live Mixtapes.
The 20 year old MC, who started to rap at the age of 16, is originally from Yorktown, New York (a suburban area in northern westchester). He had a unique upbringing through his european roots due to his late father being from Paris. After his father passed, Prince was heavily motivated and influenced to make it in the music industry. As he puts it: "When my dad passed away at the age of 17 from cancer it has sparked a flam in me that isn't seeming to go out any time soon. This man is the driving force and motivation behind my music.  He always taught me to never give up on anything since he himself came to America with nothing."
“The New Age" is an introspective look into French Prince's life, purpose & rhyming ability. He describes this project as a stepping stone for whats to come: " This mix tape describes me as an artist and who I am as a person in general.  I would describe my sound as "natural" sounding tending to not lean towards the heavier trap beats that are more popular in the industry today.  My sense of humor and reliability is what makes me and my music pleasant and likable to many. But one main line that I live by for rap is, "I don't do this for fame it is fun for me, if it becomes about fame its done for me."
To date, French Prince has released several music videos and plans to release many more. He has also performed shows nationwide and will be performing via SXSW 2015 in Austin Texas, as well as many other venues in the new year.
The project  titled “The New Age” is available for download and streaming tomorrow Dec 16th via Live Mixtapes. The mixtape takes listeners on a journey through French Prince's past life experiences and how he has escaped the stresses of the world. He is currently working on his next untitled project now.

Dec 8th, 2014 - Chicago, IL
Chicago born hip hop artist Polie Da Great (PDG)  has partnered with Stack Or Starve Approved
for the release of his mix tape project  “Famous Stranger” via Live Mixtapes, Orange Mixtapes , Spinrilla, Datpiff & many other outlets.
Dubbed as one of Chicago’s most promising, upcoming &  prolific artists to date,
Polie Da Great has a talent that represents innovative concepts, quality production and party like anthems for those who enjoy having a good time.
His flow and creative process as Polie puts it, hasn't changed at all. "My writing process hasn't changed since I started rapping. Beats talk to me and take me into another universe. I listen to a lot of beats from various producers and pick my favorites. I sit down with my girlfriend Mary Jane and we put our heads together and come up with greatness; because remember Good ain't GREAT.
In addition, Polie breaks down the "Famous Stranger" title and concepts:
"It took a little more time than usual for me to come up with the album title. I been grinding and rapping for years. I been traveling around the country and some of the places that I have visited I always seem to bump into a fan. Some of my fans already feel like I'm famous, but there are a ton of people who don't know me yet. I live in the third biggest city in the country. As far as who knows me, for every one hundred there is about one hundred thousand that does not know me. My fans always tell me how I deserve a shot and to them I'm famous but to the world I'm a stranger. "
The first official leak off the "Famous Stranger" project titled "No Comments" (Prod.HB On The Track) Went viral today to many blogs & music outlets, Polie breaks down the process of how this track came about: "This is another track that already had the chorus on it. When creating this I was thinking about all the "foo foo" stuff that had been transpiring. For example, recently a few card crackers were caught. Then out of nowhere someone leaks them to about 25 other people. The whole time I'm reading and hearing about this all I could think was the main person who was probably talking about how real they were was the one snitching. I just figured I would add my two cents on how people need to plead the fifth and shut the f*** up."

HI MONEY PREPS NEW "Hola Dinero" MIXTAPE RELEASE
 Sept 15th, Chicago, IL
Hailing from East Side of Chicago, Hi Money is a lyricist that makes you feel like you’re back in school studying the Anthology. His love for music and the streets are more than evident as he paints both vivid imagery and captures precise emotions through his lyrics. The art of storytelling is a skill that many artists possess to paint a picture of what’s being conveyed. Shannon Smith (Hi MONEY) has mastered just that. His calm, yet powerful voice and raw lyrics place you where he grew up and through the trials he experienced during his journey of becoming a man. The death of his brother in 2005 pushed him further than he had ever imagined and inspired him to tell his story and perhaps touch
and relate to others by doing so.

Hi%2BMoney%2BPhoto1.jpg
Hi Money is no stranger to hard work and dedication and has projects that he is extremely proud of. His first mix-tape titled Straight From the Block became successful with the help of rapper Bet Stax and Hi Money knew that he couldn’t stop there. He went on to complete two volumes of his next mix-tape, Thinking Out Loud in which he paired up with rapper Gem Stone who is a great musical mentor to Hi Money. Stones, who is signed to rapper Lupe Fiasco, encourages Hi Money to do what he feels and write what he wants instead of what everybody else wants. From the Bottom Line was an album of Hi Money’s that featured many talented Chicago artists and that helped promote and circuit the album as well. The music Hi Money creates has a street sound but also give the smoothest appeal which gives balance and shows diversity with a dash of hip hop street bounce to it. “Some songs may be aggressive but others are very soulful,” added Hi Money. The usage of samples coupled with storytelling gives a
sound that catches the attention of listeners and pulls them in..
While continuing to write and record, Hi Money has also traveled to several states and colleges performing for large venues and hopes to be featured on an underground tour this upcoming Fall. He encourages anybody that wants to pursue a career in music to do so. “Your business mind is everything because talent can only get you in the door,” he said. He wants to be remembered for the great stories that he told through his music and spiritual connection. Nothing can stop him now for he has come way too far.
Coming Soon Hi Money will be releasing a FREE downloadable mixtape titled ‘Hola Dinero' (Hosted By Stack Or Starve) , which will display an arsenal of dope concepts, rhymes & rhythm.
As Hi Money puts it, he wants to ensure the project is solid:
“I want to ensure "Hola Dinero" is perfect, alot of people run with hi money as soon as they hear it. the tape will be extremely lyrical but will give a southern vibe to you due to the production. Equally we are trying to cater to every listener with flow..... base ........wordplay,nasty beats and sick hooks".

GUCCI MANE SPEAKS FROM PRISON

Radric Davis aka Gucci Mane was to hit mainstream rap hard last year but that became a distant memory when he was incarcerated. We have yet to get a statement from Gucci since he got locked up but for the first time in a recent interview with the Associated Press Gucci Mane speaks from jail. Gucci Mane talk about how he has been adjusting to jail. He celebrated his 30th birthday in Febuary and his album "The State vs. Radric Davis" hitting the number #1 spot on the rap charts all while being locked up late last year for parole violation. Gucci spoke on his future plans and where his career is going later this year. Gucci will be releaseing two albums, "The State vs. Radric Davis: The Appeal" and then "The State vs. Radric Davis: The Verdict" and a mixtape with DJ Drama later this year. Check out Gucci Mane's interview below. The Associated Press: You were featured on Carey's "Obsessed" and had the hit "Break Up" with Mario and Sean Garrett, as well as the single "Spotlight" featuring Usher. How did it feel to finally breakthrough?Gucci Mane: It felt good to finally be noticed and get some kind of acclaim. This is by far the most praise I've ever gotten. It feels like all my hard work is getting recognized. It makes me work even harder.AP: How did it feel to have your album top the charts while in jail?Gucci Mane: Excited. I still had a release party, though I wasn't there. But the day after was the toughest because I just wanted to get out there to see my fans. ... Getting on stage, it's nothing like it.AP: Gucci, you've been to jail on a few other occasions. How can you avoid being sent back again?Gucci Mane: Before I make an action, think about the consequences. ... Any decision I make is a heavy decision. I got a lot of people who depend on me. Everything I do has so much weight on it.AP: How do the other inmates treat you in jail?Gucci Mane: It's a great response. ... So I try to take a couple of these young guys under my wing and tell them what I've learned, because you can't teach nobody if you don't know anything.AP: Rappers who have been jailed in the past like Tupac has said it was difficult to jot down lyrics while in prison. How has writing songs been for you?Gucci Mane: Unfortunately I've been to jail a couple times. Anytime I come in it's difficult to make music, write songs. This time, I have a peace within me. I've been so excited to get out. I've written about 50 to 60 songs.AP: How much has your jail time been a setback on your career, which was at the peak?Gucci Mane: With money and selling CDs, I can always do that. I believe I can make all the money I've missed the last six months. But I can't regain the time with fans and family.FOLLOW ME ON TWITTER @ITSTHESOCIETY

Former Roc-A-Fella/Def Jam artist Tru Life turned himself in to authorities last night (June 23) to face a charge of 1st degree murder, according to reports. The charge is possibly tied to a brutal stabbing incident last week that left one man seriously injured, and an 18-year old teen dead. As reported by AllHipHop.com, police were initially investigating Tru Life’s brother for a retaliation attack in the non-fatal shooting of Michael Slater. The individual, whom police suspect is a drug dealer, was shot in the stomach outside of club Pacha. Several hours after the crime, police claim five gang members ambushed 30 year old Jason Black and the teen at a Manhattan apartment complex. Both men were stabbed repeatedly in the chest and face. Black survived the assault, while the unidentified teen succumbed to his wounds. At the time, police theorized that the back and forth violence was the result of a feud between Jason Black and Tru Life’s brother. 1st degree murder carries a maximum sentence of life in prison under New York law. If an official or witness is not the victim, the distinction can also be decreed for murders involving multiple parties or tortuous killings. Tru Life’s last music effort, “Wet ‘em Up,” was heard as a selection on the soundtrack to Grand Theft Auto IV. At press time, Tru Life could not be reached for comment. Source : ALLHIPHOP
