‘The Underdogs’ is the new beat tape from King Wizard alongside his Underdog Music partners Alderman and Big Papa Harvey. This tape is straight banger after banger – no filler tracks here. The drums slap and the melodies are simple but perfectly formed. You don’t miss the vocal at all – this is a perfect example of the art of the beat tape. These tracks stand alone as a body of work.
This five track epic is a journey through the sound of trap music in 2020 going into 2021. The 808s hit hard, with great punch and intent. The kick pounds your ear drum. The snare seems to jump out from the speakers and punch you in the teeth. The hats are present and give the beats that groove and energy without being distracting. King Wizard’s trademark melodies go from beautiful to sad to high energy to straight trap vibes. There’s so much variation in this tape. By the time you reach the end of the last track, all you want to do is rewind and go back to track one and experience it all again.
The piano and the guitar have been two of the signature sounds of trap music in 2020. Luckily for King Wizard, he is an absolute master of each, with endless videos on his Instagram of him ripping and shredding on live instruments. His feel and skill are virtually unmatched – it’s well worth checking out, with a regular flow of new content. You can see why so many people have referred to him as a genius – it’s hard to explain this level of talent with any other word. You can see his epic content for yourself here: @iamkingwizard
Wizard’s Underdog Music have been responsible for a whole host of great records –their producers have cut tracks for a list of artists as long as my arm – Wiz Khalifa, NBA Youngboy, Lil Durk, Smoke Purp, Toosii, YFN Lucci, Lil Tecca, Famous Dex, Swae Lee. It would almost be easier to list the artists that Underdog Music haven’t worked with!
All of their experience working with these major artists has gone into this beat tape, and it shows. The result is really a stand out release. I’m sure they are very excited for all of their fans and followers to finally hear their beats play out without the help of another artist lacing the beat with a dope vocal. The fans won’t have long to wait – ‘The Underdogs’ is scheduled for global release in Early December. King Wizard, Alderman and Big Papa certainly possess a talent which the world needs to see more of.
New York rapper JoJo2amazing takes us along for quite the ride with his new song and music video “Long Road” ft Florida’s own Trill Will. This is an ODBM (OnDaBeatzMafia) collaboration with Trill Will’s label; Full Circle Music Group, whom is partnered with Universal Music Group. JoJo2amazing, the owner of his independent label ODBM, shows his team strengths on full display. First let’s start with the beat!
and was produced collaboratively by two producer on the ODBM team. Both Arrari Karvetti and Hi-zenberg ODBM joined forces to bring us this complete master- piece of an instrumental. The song was then Mixed and Mastered by JoJo2amazing himself after all the vocal recordings were produced. Both producers brag how they made this beat from scratch, with custom samples as well, but that’s not all. The video itself is a nail bitting 5min short film which was filmed by both Arrari Karvetti and JoJo2amazing. The film was also directed and edited by JoJo2amazing as well. As for the actual video, it is a storyline that if you are lucky...You haven’t actually experienced this yourself. Without giving too much away, it is a story of betrayal. My goodness, it reminds you to not only keep your friends close. But know exactly who your enemies are. Which is a valuable lesson indeed.
JoJo2amazing explains how the song came to fruition. After receiving this beat from his team of producers. At first, he didn’t know what to do with it. He says how it reminded him of a Drake type, ”Stay Scheming” beat, but didn’t have any idea on how to approach it. Being the entrepreneur that he is, the search for answers began. 2amazing states how he had a couple artist in mind, which he knew would be a perfect fit for this beat. The only problem was that he had never met or knew any of these artist prior too. This is what led to a massive frenzy of DMs as well as likes and comments to get one of these Verified artist to see his message.
2amazing states how “closed mouthes don’t get fed” and “you can’t be afraid to ask, the worse thing that can happen is a no or a non reply”. Being a student of the game 2amazing had three artist in mind from the get go. He then states “I already knew of Trill Will from the days of Boosie and Webbie and was always a fan. So I just blew up his notifications. I can care less of what the next man thinks, I’m just trying to make music.”
Which was his mentality, and to his surprise, Trill Will saw one of his many DMs and actually responded. After a week of conversation or so about details, making sure the beat is cleared or owned and how they would approach it. He states “me being confident in my abilities and knowing my own weakness.I told Trill to just approach it like it was his song. Make the chorus, the topic and etc. and I’ll just write to what ever you come up with.” He later stated how he didn’t want to feel like he was putting the bigger artist in a box. He wanted to give him the flexibility as well as the sense of comfort knowing that if he’s in control nothing less than fire will be produced.
His fear was that if he made up a topic prior or a chorus for the bigger artist (Trill Will) and if he wasn’t feeling it, that it would actually compromise the final product. And wow, was he right on that call. When we ask Trill on how he came up with the Hook, the melody, and the flow he said himself how he usually doesn’t rap/make this type of music. But after hearing the beat, he was overtaken with ideas and just went to work. When we ask 2amazing if he was worried if Trill would give him something that he couldn’t relate or write too. He then shows the upmost confidence and says this. Hell no! I know I’m great.
In my heart of hearts I believe I’m a top 5 lyricist right now. I just haven’t been heard yet. I’m like that diamond in the dirt that hasn’t been found.” If that wasn’t the very definition of self validation/confidence I don’t know what is. But what I do know, is what ever they did together worked!! This is a banger for sure and expect to hear this in a city near you soon. JoJo2amazing x Trill Will, together make a great combo. Their rap styles are Oo soo different but it compliments each other very well, kind of like a salty but sweet treat. I genuinely hope we hear more from these two as 2amazing teases a potential joint EP from them both. And with that being said all I can do is buckle up, sit back and relax. Because this ride is going to be amazing. I just hope this “Long Road” never ends.

Yes, a whole lot lol. Maybe another album to be honest, right now I'm really enjoying the benefits of being independent, being able to deliver the music to the people at anytime is a blessing. What is your greatest achievement as a musician?
I’ve yet to achieve my greatest achievement, but for now I’ll say I’m proud of myself for putting together an Album.
Do you produce your own music? If not, who do you work with?
I’ve produced some records, and some are from producers I work with around the world.
Who is one artist you wish you could work with?
I think the one artist would be Young Thug, I respect his approach to music creating. I like how he experiments with the beat, different sounds and voice etc, I think he’s got a unique talent.
Tell us about any new music you have coming out? When is it coming out? What is it about?
Right now, I feel like I can drop another album but I want to let the people get familiar with my sound before I introduce them to another too soon. But I can say, there will be new music before the year ends.
What does a day inside your shoes look like?
A day in my shoes, lol it looks expensive and feels luxurious. No cap! But a day in my life is busy, phone calls, meetings. Working, mostly calls and conference calls. I try to make time for my family and close friends throughout the day, but really I have maybe 3-4hr a day that’s spare to me as free time.
Anything else you want the audience to know about you?
Yes, I think I would like them to know that I believe in them, more than they believe in me. My job here is to inspire them with my story and my journey. Don’t stop hustling.
Growing up in New Orleans, SK had the opportunity to witness some of the greats including rappers like Lil Wayne and Master P. Now he’s crafting his own lane. The rapper's first album GENTRILLY, debuted in 2018. After accumulating some major success, he’s preparing for his October release of California Lifestyle.
Before moving out west, much of David’s life was spent growing up in the Gentilly neighborhood located between the 7th and 8th ward of New Orleans. Although music was flourishing in the city, it wasn’t always the safest place to live — at the time, some were referring to the city as “The Murder Capital”.
In 2005, Hurricane Katrina forced SK and his family to leave everything behind. Although he didn’t know it at the time, the tragedy would bring him closer to music. While moving between states the rapper found himself listening intently to artists like Boosie, Lil Wayne, and Curren$y.
“Each state had influenced the music that I listened too, a lot of people don’t realize this but back then Soulja Boy was huge in Mississippi. ”
Each of those experiences formed SK into the man and rapper that he is today. The diverse cultures and styles that he witnessed eventually made their way into his music. SK has a variety of different tones that he uses when making a track. This includes his deeper speaking voice, a lighter singing voice, and autotune effects.
“The idea for switching up the flows and the voices came from my early performances. Back in High school my friends and I were well known for throwing some of the biggest parties in New Orleans. I’d get up on the stage and just rap, people loved it, especially when I would switch my flow on each beat. ”
After finishing his senior year, SK received a full-ride academic scholarship to Louisiana State University. In between his advertising classes, he studied up on music and entrepreneurship allowing him to launch his first album under his very own record label.
GENTRILLY, the album and Generation Trill, the label are both named in honor of his Louisiana upbringing. Through every phase in life, David has always found ways to keep home close.
“Even as I evolve, I will never forget where I’m from.”
California Lifestyle, will be a sonic representation of his evolution from the Gentilly streets to LA penthouses, and while fans wait David plans to drop visuals and singles alike.
