HipHopWired Reports The realm of Hip-Hop has always been see as a man's game. Although there have been prominent voices such as MC Lyte, Queen Latifah, Lauryn Hill, Eve and many others, the game has always been more geared towards those with testosterone. With female rappers AWOL, Young Money's Nicki Minaj is the only one that can stand in the spotlight to represent, but doing it by herself has opened her up to criticism on her actual rapping ability. Minaj was also the only female rapper that seemed brave enough to step up with the big boys when she appeared in the Cypher for the BET Hip-Hop Awards this year alongside rappers such as Joe Budden and Buckshot. The life of a female in rap has become more about politics and less about their skills in the craft and Nicki has been under fire as to whether or not she crafts her own work or simply has Lil Wayne write it for her. “I write my own raps; I do everything on my own, so what makes you say that?” During an interview with T.T. Torrez, the rapper spoke on the difference between men and women in the industry and how ignorance causes barriers. “Women are held to different standards. I mean that's just the way it is. I always say ‘Nobody tells 50 and Wayne anything when they're taking their shirts off every night'. You could say that's selling sex; that's selling sex appeal. I respect Wayne and 50 very much, but if a girl comes out in a cute little outfit showing some boobs, she's not a real rapper.” With critics questioning her verse during the Cypher, Minaj clears the air on the reality of her verse and most that participated. “How many people in that Cypher do you think spit that off of their head? See, that's another thing and I'm glad you brought that up. Yes, I didn't spit that off the top of my head. I can't come up with those punch-lines, metaphors off the top of my head. Everybody else, besides KRS-One, who else can you name that freestyled off the top of his head.” She also relieved some weight from her shoulders as she added that her lyrics are molded together by no one but her. “They will tear apart a female like, ‘Oh, she did a good verse, but she wrote it'. The only thing that matters is that I wrote it on a paper and memorized it. I don't need a dude to write my shit. Wayne never wrote my shit. No one writes my stuff because it's in here. It's not about what you have down here [points to crotch] that makes you intelligent enough to write a rap and I think that's so corny.” Women are still struggling to garner respect in the game, although it is hard to refuse something that is apparent. How can women ever steer young girls in the right direction if they are constantly put under the microscope and have to fight so hard just to get into the front door?

AllHipHop.com Reports Cash Money CEO’s Bryan “Slim” and Ronald “Baby” Williams have released their first public statement on the recent gun conviction of their star artist Lil Wayne. Wayne plead guilty yesterday (October 22) to attempted weapons possession charges, and is expected to be sentenced to a year in prison. “The Cash Money family will continue to support our artist and friend Lil Wayne in his current court case. We have worked with Wayne since he was a teenager, and have seen him grow into one of the world’s most successful hip-hop artists, with a work ethic that is second to none,” the Cash Money CEO’s explained to AllHipHop.com. In the hours that followed, peers such as Slim Thug vehemently defended Wayne as being an unjust target due to his status as a black celebrity. Others, such as ex-wife Toya Carter, opted to press that fans and media alike continue to support the rapper, and chastised those who have abandoned him. With two freestyles (“Swag Surfin’,” “Wasted”) recently leaking from Wayne’s anticipated mixtape No Ceilings, the Williams brothers confirmed that Wayne will continue to receive the label’s full backing during this dark period. “Wayne has our love and commitment during this difficult time. We always have and always will stand behind him,” the Williams brothers said. As reported earlier, Lil Wayne is expected to serve at least 8 months of the 1 year prison sentence. Lil Wayne and DJ Drama’s No Ceilings mixtape will be released on October 31.

Rolling Stone Reports R. Kelly has announced he’ll release his new album Untitled on December 1st both physically and digitally. The nameless LP, Kelly’s first since 2007’s Double Up and last year’s shelved 12 Play: Fourth Quarter, has already spawned first single “Number One,” featuring Keri Hilson, and second single “Religious” was delivered to radio recently after debuting on Kelly’s YouTube page. As Rolling Stone previously reported, his The Demo Tape mixtape was released this June. For Untitled, Kelly broke with tradition and instead did some recording in Atlanta instead of his native Chicago, according to a press release. The album will also find the Chocolate Factory singer collaborating with up-and-coming producers like Chris Henderson, Lil Ronnie and Infinity. At an album preview party Kelly hosted at his own home, he reportedly told the crowd he party-tested Untitled hard. “For three months straight, I threw a party at my house every weekend. … Like 200 girls come over, and there’s some guys too, like four or five, but no pictures, so we can all be ourselves. Then I’d play the music and see how they would react… if they didn’t feel it, I’d go back downstairs and rework it…” Kelly recently kicked off a tour in support of Untitled, a trek that’ll keep the singer on the road and not trapped in a closet until a December 8th show in St. Louis, Missouri. Check out the remaining tour dates below: Oct. 22 – Atlanta, GA Oct. 23 – Chattanooga, TN Oct. 24 – Charleston, SC Oct. 25 – Augusta, GA Oct. 27 – Birmingham, AL Oct. 29 – Dallas, TX Oct. 30 – Houston, TX Oct. 31 – New Orleans, LA Nov. 1 – Memphis, TN Nov. 5 – Los Angeles, CA Nov. 6 – Las Vegas, NV Nov. 7 – Oakland, CA Nov. 12 – Indianapolis, IN Nov. 14 – Detroit, MI Nov. 15 – Milwaukee, WI Nov. 17 – Chicago, IL Nov. 20 – Louisville, KY Nov. 21 – Charlotte, NC Nov. 22 – Greensboro, NC Nov. 24 – Washington, DC Nov. 27 – Jacksonville, FL Nov. 28 – Miami, FL Nov. 29 – Tampa, FL Dec. 4 – Norfolk, VA Dec. 5 – Richmond, VA Dec. 6 – Cleveland, OH Dec. 8 – St. Louis, MO

Allhiphop Reports 12 years after the infamous ear-biting incident, former heavyweight champions Mike Tyson and Evander Holyfield will meet face to face for the first time live on Oprah. The meeting is the result of the mass outpouring of support for Tyson following his emotional first interview with Oprah on Monday (October 12). In that piece, the youngest heavyweight champion in history was reduced to tears when recalling the tragic accidental death of his 4 year old daughter Exodus in May. Also, the troubled ex-champ detailed his abuse-filled marriage with actress Robin Givens, his new acclaimed documentary (“Tyson”), and his three year prison stint for rape. For Friday’s show, Oprah Winfrey will allow Tyson to field questions from the audience, along with feedback from his first interview. Mike Tyson and Evander Holyfield engaged in two memorable fights in 1996 and 1997. In the first, Holyfield shocked the boxing world by scoring a dominant 11th round stoppage in what was crowned RING Magazine’s Fight of the Year. In the rematch, a frustrated Tyson fouled out in the 3rd by biting off a piece of Holyfield’s ear. The gruesome assault resulted in Tyson’s boxing license being suspended for a year. Afterward, Tyson alleged that Holyfield’s headbutts prompted the attack.

Each fighter has been recognized in Hip-Hop for their accomplishments, with various references and appearances in songs such as EPMD’s “Headbanger,” DJ Jazzy Jeff and the Fresh Prince’s “I Think I Can Beat Mike Tyson,Ice-T’s “New Jack Hustler,” Cormega’s “F**k Nas,” and Canibus’ “2nd Round Knockout.” Oprah’s Mike Tyson-Evander Holyfield meeting will take place this Friday (October 16).

NY Daily News Reports WASHINGTON - The U.S. Secret Service is investigating an online survey that asked whether people thought President Barack Obama should be assassinated, officials said Monday. The poll, posted Saturday on Facebook, was taken off the popular social networking site quickly after company officials were alerted to its existence. But, like any threat against the president, Secret Service agents are taking no chances. "We are aware of it and we will take the appropriate investigative steps," said Darrin Blackford, a Secret Service spokesman. "We take of these things seriously." The poll asked respondents "Should Obama be killed?" The choices: No, Maybe, Yes, and Yes if he cuts my health care. The question was not created by Facebook, but by an independent person using an add-on application that has been suspended from the site. "The third-party application that enabled an individual user to create the offensive poll was brought to our attention this morning," said Barry Schnitt, Facebook's spokesman for policy. Because the application was disabled, the responses to the nonscientific polls are not available. "We're working with the U.S. Secret Service, but they'll need to provide any details of their investigation," Schnitt said.

Officer Ricky Ross has done some suspect things in the past that by now we are all well aware of. Recently though, I have found out the Ross fuckery goes far beyond his once hidden background as a correctional officer. Less than two years ago "The Bawse" heard a record titled "On My Trail" from an up and coming independent east coast artist by the name of L.A. which featured Akon on the hook. Ross loved the song, as a matter of fact he loved it so much he decided to jack it. At the time this was L.A.'s first official single and was starting to get play on east coast radio stations. The song was the "Pick Of The Week" two weeks in a row on Miss Jones Hot 97 radio show. L.A.'s manager, June lived in Miami at the time, so they decided to try to get the record some exposure there. It was played on Power 96.5 and things were looking good. At the same time several record labels (Universal Motown, Universal SRC and Jive) were starting to show interest. However during their meetings with those labels they kept hearing the same thing about their song "Isn't this a Rick Ross/Flo Rida joint?" They also started getting resistance from Core DJ's for the very same reason. None of this made sense to either of them until they heard Rick Ross's version of their song. He had taken the hook, switched up the beat and changed the name from "On My Trail" to "On The Run" featuring Brisco and Flo Rida. Now you have to understand that around this time Flo Rida was becoming a big name with his hit record "Low" and Rick Ross was also established in the industry. L.A. being an independent artist struggling to get his foot in the door has been fighting an uphill battle trying to get the truth out ever since. L.A.'s version was recorded in August 2007. The Ross version began to circulate somewhere around July 2008 Check out both songs below and you can still hear L.A.'s voice ad libbing on the hook of the Ross version. Also below listen to Miss Jones and DJ Envy introducing the original song on Hot 97 -- ChasinDatPaper Miss Jones & DJ Envy Introducing "On My Trail" by L.A. NY Daily News Reports Aubrey O'Day really put her foot in her mouth this time. The former Danity Kane member dug herself into a hole Monday night in a heated debate on Fox News' "The Sean Hannity Show" when the 25-year-old singer spewed out claims that both Adolf Hitler and Fidel Castro were "brilliant" men. "As someone who has met [Castro]... I met him and worked with him while I was in Cuba. I'm not defending his behavior, but in many instances, but I do have to say, I will 100% agree, he's an incredibly brilliant man, he has outlived tons of our Presidents," O'Day said. When Hannity gave the pop singer a second chance to clarify her point, O'Day reiterated, "I'm sure many murderers are brilliant people." "Was Hitler a brilliant man?" Hannity asked. "I don't condone Hitler one ounce, but yes, he was a brilliant man," she said. "He ran a country and convinced everyone of horrible things." In response, Hannity shook his head and cut to Greta Van Susteren. In an effort to save what dignity she has left, O'Day issued a statement to TMZ. "Murderers and dictators generally are some of the smartest people out there - they just use their brain power for evil purposes. I don't condone any of their evil behavior, but I was asked about their intellectual firepower... and in my opinion you can't have a low IQ and wreck [sic] that much havoc on the world," O'Day said. "What Hitler succeeded in doing, was deplorable... And I hope we never see such an abusive use of power again." Still, despite such qualifiers, some members of the Jewish community find the singer's statements unforgivable. Rabbi Chaim Cunin of Chabad House told TMZ, "When a woman like her uses public airwaves, with access to millions of wonderful citizens of America, and calls some of the most despicable, unspeakable hatemongers of history brilliant, then something is lacking with her intelligence. This is a constant reminder of how careful we need to be when we talk about hate, because hatred is always present." He added, "We need to make sure we are careful and that hatred doesn't rear its ugly head. I'd like for her to think about some older Holocaust survivor having that comment beamed into their home while they are enjoying the freedom that this beautiful country provides and having to listen to her disgusting comments."

London Times Online Reports ‘The greatest fear people have is that of being themselves. They want to be 50 Cent or someone else. They do what everyone else does even if it doesn’t fit where and who they are. But you get nowhere that way; your energy is weak and no one pays attention to you. You’re running away from the one thing that you own—what makes you different. I lost that fear. And once I felt the power that I had by showing the world I didn’t care about being like other people, I could never go back.’ 50 Cent 1. See Things for What They Are - Intense Realism Reality can be rather harsh. Your days are numbered. It takes constant effort to carve a place for yourself in this ruthlessly competitive world and hold on to it. People can be treacherous. They bring endless battles into your life. Your task is to resist the temptation to wish it were all different; instead you must fearlessly accept these circumstances, even embrace them. By focusing your attention on what is going on around you, you will gain a sharp appreciation for what makes some people advance and others fall behind. By seeing through people’s manipulations, you can turn them around. The firmer your grasp on reality, the more power you will have to alter it for your purposes. 2. Make Everything Your Own - Self-Reliance When you work for others, you are at their mercy. They own your work; they own you. Your creative spirit is squashed. What keeps you in such positions is a fear of having to sink or swim on your own. Instead you should have a greater fear of what will happen to you if you remain dependent on others for power. Your goal in every manoeuvre in life must be ownership, working the corner for yourself. When it is yours, it is yours to lose - you are more motivated, more creative, more alive. The ultimate power in life is to be completely self-reliant, completely yourself. 3. Turn Shit into Sugar - Opportunism Every negative situation contains the possibility for something positive, an opportunity. It is how you look at it that matters. Your lack of resources can be an advantage, forcing you to be more inventive with the little that you have. Losing a battle can allow you to frame yourself as the sympathetic underdog. Do not let fears make you wait for a better moment or become conservative. If there are circumstances you cannot control, make the best of them. It is the ultimate alchemy to transform all such negatives into advantages and power. 4. Keep Moving - Calculated Momentum In the present there is constant change and so much we cannot control. If you try to micromanage it all, you lose even greater control in the long run. The answer is to let go and move with the chaos that presents itself to you - from within it, you will find endless opportunities that elude most people. don’t give others the chance to pin you down; keep moving and changing your appearances to fit the environment. if you encounter walls or boundaries, slip around them. do not let anything disrupt your flow. 5. Know When to Be Bad - Aggression You will always find yourself among the aggressive and the passive aggressive who seek to harm you in some way. You must get over any general fears you have of confronting people or you will find it extremely difficult to assert yourself in the face of those who are more cunning and ruthless. Before it is too late you must master the art of knowing when and how to be bad - using deception, manipulation, and outright force at the appropriate moments. Everyone operates with a flexible morality when it comes to their self-interest—you are simply making this more conscious and effective. 6. Lead from the Front - Authority In any group, the person on top consciously or unconsciously sets the tone. If leaders are fearful, hesitant to take any risks, or overly concerned for their ego and reputation, then this invariably filters its way through the entire group and makes effective action impossible. Complaining and haranguing people to work harder has a counterproductive effect. You must adopt the opposite style: imbue your troops with the proper spirit through your actions, not words. They see you working harder than anyone, holding yourself to the highest standards, taking risks with confidence, and making tough decisions. This inspires and binds the group together. In these democratic times, you must practice what you preach. 7. Know Your Environment from the Inside Out - Connection Most people think first of what they want to express or make, then find the audience for their idea. You must work the opposite angle, thinking first of the public. You need to keep your focus on their changing needs, the trends that are washing through them. Beginning with their demand, you create the appropriate supply. Do not be afraid of people’s criticisms - without such feedback your work will be too personal and delusional. You must maintain as close a relationship to your environment as possible, getting an inside “feel” for what is happening around you. Never lose touch with your base. 8. Respect the Process - Mastery The fools in life want things fast and easy — money, success, attention. Boredom is their great enemy and fear. Whatever they manage to get slips through their hands as fast as it comes in. You, on the other hand, want to outlast your rivals. You are building the foundation for something that can continue to expand. To make this happen, you will have to serve an apprenticeship. You must learn early on to endure the hours of practice and drudgery, knowing that in the end all of that time will translate into a higher pleasure—mastery of a craft and of yourself. Your goal is to reach the ultimate skill level—an intuitive feel for what must come next. 9. Push Beyond Your Limits - Self-Belief Your sense of who you are will determine your actions and what you end up getting in life. If you see your reach as limited, that you are mostly helpless in the face of so many difficulties, that it is best to keep your ambitions low, then you will receive the little that you expect. Knowing this dynamic, you must train yourself for the opposite—ask for more, aim high, and believe that you are destined for something great. Your sense of self-worth comes from you alone—never the opinion of others. With a rising confidence in your abilities, you will take risks that will increase your chances of success. People follow those who know where they are going, so cultivate an air of certainty and boldness. 10. Confront Your Mortality - The Sublime In the face of our inevitable mortality we can do one of two things. We can attempt to avoid the thought at all costs, clinging to the illusion that we have all the time in the world. Or we can confront this reality, accept and even embrace it, converting our consciousness of death into something positive and active. In adopting such a fearless philosophy, we gain a sense of proportion, become able to separate what is petty from what is truly important. Knowing our days to be numbered, we have a sense of urgency and mission. We can appreciate life all the more for its impermanence. If we can overcome the fear of death, then there is nothing left to fear. Extracted from Robert Greene and 50 Cent’s new book The 50th Law, published by Profile Books

LA Times Reports Two Los Angeles police officers have been placed on paid leave as part of an ongoing investigation into how a photo showing the battered face of Rihanna appeared on a celebrity website after the singer was assaulted by her former boyfriend Chris Brown, four law enforcement sources familiar with the case told The Times. The night before the Grammy Awards in February, Rihanna argued with Brown, who bit, punched and choked the singer in a rented Lamborghini in the Hancock Park area of Los Angeles, leaving her bruised and bloodied, police said. Two weeks later, a photo of Rihanna that showed those injuries appeared on the entertainment gossip website TMZ.com. The sources confirmed that the investigation is focused on at least two officers.

One of the officers, identified by sources as Rebecca M. Reyes, is a nine-year veteran of the department and was last assigned to the Wilshire Division. Her attorney told The Times that a search warrant in connection with the leak investigation had been served on her Los Angeles home. The other, Blanca Lopez, is a rookie officer with the Hollenbeck Division and was a housemate of Reyes, according to sources, who spoke on the condition that they not be named because it was an ongoing investigation. Both have been “assigned to home” pending the outcome of the probe, according to the sources who requested anonymity because they were not authorized to talk publicly about the investigation. Attorney Ira Salzman, who is representing Reyes, confirmed that the LAPD assigned his client to home during the Rihanna photo investigation but said his client had done nothing illegal and that department officials had not yet presented any formal allegations against her. Salzman, who described his client as a decorated officer, would not comment on whether Reyes had taken the picture of Rihanna or had at any time possessed it. “My client did not do anything for financial gain,” Salzman said. “She did not sell the photo.” Robert Rico, the attorney for Officer Lopez, declined to comment on the investigation. LAPD officials also declined to discuss their investigation, including who took the photograph, how it came into the possession of TMZ.com and how much, if any, money may have paid to the officers or associates for the image. Also was unclear whether the image that was posted on the site was taken with a personal phone or with department-issued photographic equipment. LAPD spokesman Lt. John Romero described the investigation as “a personnel matter” and said, “We are investigating vigorously.” Romero said the department would not comment on whether any officers have been assigned to home. A state law that went into effect this year makes it a misdemeanor for peace officers or law enforcement employees to profit by leaking confidential reports or images. In addition, the LAPD also has adopted strict rules about recording still or video images at crime scenes, which they made more explicit last year after a series of celebrity-related arrests in which details, and even images, appeared on celebrity and gossip websites. Donald Etra, the attorney for Rihanna, whose real is Robyn Rihanna Fenty, said Thursday that he was pleased that police had gotten to the bottom of the case. He said that no victim should have to worry about such photographs being leaked. He also noted that his client had “nothing but praise for the LAPD.”
