We have been following indie recording artist HooNoz, pronounced as WhoKnowz, for quite some time. He has probably been one of the most consistent artists we have come across. He releases so much music along with the rest of his Harvey Finch Enterprise conglomerates, that once you catch wind of them, you can't help but to see them constantly. Every time you turn around, it's another release. Be it an audio single, a music video or a full length project, they will be back before you can forget them.
In the mist of all of this, is what almost has seem to become HFE's front man, HooNoz. For years he has been sufficient in properly releasing promotional music leading up to an album release. Early this year, just 5 months to be exact, we had an opportunity to sit down and do a face 2 face interview with HooNoz. We bounced around between musical subjects and hustles, but the main focus was the project he had just finished and was beginning to release music videos for, The Lost Verses 5- Level of Maturity.
LV5- Level of Maturity has finally hit the streets and is getting one hell of a reception. Filled from A-Z with dope music, HooNoz stayed true to his original platform as an artist....Reality. Where most artists today choose to fill their albums with catchy hooks and half written, half mumbled verses, HooNoz chose to remain focused on lyricism and context. Making good points of self motivation and mental awareness over doing drugs or pushing the violence agenda.
Now, you still will find a few violent bars, but when someone comes from areas drowned in decades of violence, you will often find it reflected through their art. Yet, the violence survived is used more as a vision of hope for others. HooNoz gets in depth on many songs pointing out many of those you hold dear, don't have prayers for positive for you. So create your own lane and stay in it to you hit the finish line.
Level of Maturity is almost a self help inspirational speaker in Hip Hop form. Instead of using his tribulations as an excuse to behave erratically and dangerous, HooNoz uses it as motivation and example that through focus and maturity, you can reach a better place. At the same time,he praises the independent entrepreneurs for their dreams and successes.

Depression. We here about it...we say people act out its characteristics...we in general...ignore it. But it is a huge issue in the world. Many suffer from it. It affects their everyday living and the everyday living of those around them. It has been deemed so normal to feel "depressed", that many don't even realize they have depression, and try their best to function in a normal evreyday setting. Often questioning what is wrong with them,...often blaming them self for everything,...and in many tragic incidents, it has led to suicide. It doesn't see gender, race, religion or age. And often goes unnoticed.
It is really because of that it is such a touchy subject. Especially in the music industry. It is described and spoken of in just about any genre. many "classic" songs were made about depression of the artist and thoughts of ending it all. But few touch the actual struggles of depression. The cause of, or the battle of living with it. Enter Mirko....
I will start off by saying everything about this musical presentation is simply AMAZING. A hot hiphop beat, and a thorough lyricist delivering bar after melodic bar of subject as well as substance. And why is this artist a perfect candidate to take the front line in recognizing this disease so many struggle with? His mom.
Mirko is the child of a Mother who suffers from depression. Mirko has seen first hands the battles from within, that some who have fought this beast, can almost compare to the religious tales of the war with right and wrong. Depression is more than a weight on a persons shoulders. It is an actual mountain. And for many...the only way they make it through, is the love and support of family.
So the sincere reality is there when checking out his new video release "Mom." Mirko speaks on the pain of watching her go through it all. And how he always was and always will be a son who loves his mother, as a system of complete support on her darkest days. While spinning his story to us, he reminds the rest of us to be the same for our loved ones. Because sometimes just saying you care, can be all the difference in this persons war today.
The video itself is a piece cinematic excellence. Smooth steady shots, and vivid color grading only adds to the energy of hope Mirko was creating with this master piece. I'm of the things I enjoyed personally, was the continual statistics that popped up through the video. It was almost like a dope hip hop version of those late night infomercials you see. Either way, whatever it was, I was sold.

Nowadays, a person buys a laptop, connects a microphone to it, and calls them self independent. But other then then a few soundcloud links over the years, and maybe a spinrilla release, they never produce any real quantity of quality music. Harvey Finch Enterprise, has for some time now continued to release numerous projects from different artists each year. Leading up to the release are several video releases. When the projects come out, they have professional sound and professional artwork. Having 25+ projects released, several hundred videos and not having to ask for anything is a true definition of independence. But for this company, they continue to raise the bar. One of HFE's most consistent artists is HooNoz(whoknowz). Who has continued for years to release video after video and project after project. Shaming the work ethic of many "industry" artists. His latest releases are no different in doing so. He has officially dropped a mixtape and album on the same day. These two releases also were his 9th and 10th solo projects. Both are distributed digitally independent from www.hfemovement.com. The Lost Verses 4, being a mixtape is available for free download. And in favor of showing the strengths of independent digital distribution, HFE released the entire ReLoaded album, for just $1.00. Now this is what most music distribution sites "make" an artist charge for a song download. HFE continues to prove that by doing this fully independent there are no limits to what can be said or done.
Previous to the project releases, HooNoz put out 18 music videos in the past year or so. All while continuing to manage a company and keep up with releasing other artists under the monarchs, projects. To us, that is pretty impressive. We have yet to see anyone do this much in preparation of release, and then release 2 projects at once.
As for the music itself, well, we were blown back. Song after song HooNoz continued to spew out intelligent and well worded lyrics at a fast pace. Never seeming to run out of topics or words, the feel never gets old.
With The Lost Verses 4, many songs were short and to the point. While covering everything from mass media control to weed smoke. (Supaman High...one of our personal favorites) He brought in the right amount of features to keep a balance of difference through out the playlist. Every song delivered a fresh sense of actual emotion to the music. And in our opinion is one of the best mixtapes we've heard thus far this year.
With ReLoaded, he delivers. And that's the best way to put it. By being an actual album, the beats were fresh and different. They didn't sound like what EVERYBODY is trying to do in hip hop today. It sounded original. And that was the first thing that had this real listener tuned in. As the lyrical delivery begins, he starts with with a simple statement that people don't live by any more.."don't ever judge me, til you've walked in my shoes dog".....From there, track after track, we walk through the music in his shoes. Painting very vivid pictures of betrayal, lost love, suicide, even success, With each song, you begin to believe there is still actual artists in the game. One of our personal favorites, "SitBack" had that good old school feel you can hit an open road and ride too. While HooNoz just demolishes the beat from every angle and gives us a breakdown on how he got where he is and the reasons he should be respected for staying there.."I have dropped more projects and pushed more units..HFE that new school movement"...
All in all these are 2 classic projects that any real consumer of hip hop will enjoy for some time to come. They hold a sound that almost holds no time base. Its hard to tell if it was recorded in the 90's...last month or 3 years from now. And again, in our opinion, that's what makes a person with talent, an artist.
