In the wake of Kanye West’s behavior in recent days related to his bipolar disorder, his wife Kim Kardashian West posted a long statement Wednesday morning asking for “compassion and empathy” for her husband.
“As many of you know, Kanye has bipolar disorder,” she wrote on her Instagram story. “Anyone who has this or has a loved one in their life who does, knows how incredibly complicated and painful it is to understand. I’ve never spoken publicly about how this has affected us at home because I am very protective of our children and Kanye’s right to privacy when it comes to his health.”
She said she is making the statement due to the “stigma and misconceptions” around mental health in general, which is exacerbated in this situation by West’s fame, wealth and social media platforms.
“We as a society talk about giving grace to the issue of mental health as a whole, however, we should also give it to the individuals who are living with it in times when they need it the most,” she continued. “I kindly ask that the media and public give us the compassion and empathy that is needed so that we can get through this.” She also thanked people who have expressed concern for West’s health in recent days.
Since Monday evening, West has fired off dozens of tweets in which he’s accused many people close to him, particularly his family, of disloyalty and attempting to “lock him up,” among multiple other accusations that he has since deleted. Such behavior is common for people suffering from bipolar disorder in the throes of a manic episode.
He also announced that he is releasing a new album on Friday.

PEOPLE - The family of George Floyd is suing the city of Minneapolis and the four ex-police officers charged in connection with his death.
On Wednesday, attorneys for the Floyd family announced they had filed a lawsuit in federal court seeking damages. The suit alleges the city was responsible for Floyd's death and also a "police culture of excessive force, racism and impunity," according to a press release obtained by PEOPLE.
Floyd, an unarmed Black man, died May 25 after former Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin kneeled on his neck for nearly nine minutes. During this time, Floyd, who police accused of trying to use a counterfeit $20 bill, said, "I can't breathe" more than 20 times.
His death was ruled a homicide.
"The complaint states Mr. Floyd was deprived, under color of state law, of his clearly established rights as secured by the Fourth and Fourteenth Amendments to the United States Constitution," the press release states. "The complaint is seeking compensatory and special damages and costs as defined under federal law in an amount to be determined by a jury. The complaint also asks for the appointment of a receiver or similar authority to ensure that the City of Minneapolis properly trains and supervises its police officers, and for any other additional relief that the Court believes is just and equitable."
Floyd's family says it is seeking justice on behalf of all people victimized by police brutality.
"For decades, the Minneapolis Police Department’s practices have unlawfully stolen the basic liberties of Black citizens, leaving them afraid and unable to breathe,” co-counsel Antonio Romanucci said in a statement. “The most recent example of this is the brutal, public, and unjustifiable killing of Mr. Floyd by police officers under the color of state law, which galvanized a nation to demand real change and achieve real justice.”
Floyd's death sparked mass protests against police brutality and systemic racism.
Chauvin is charged with second-degree murder. The other three officers present at his killing — J. Alexander Kueng, Thomas Lane and Tou Thao — face criminal charges as well.

BRUNSWICK, Ga. (CBS46) – Three men charged in the death of Ahmaud Arbery were indicted Wednesday afternoon on multiple charges, Cobb County District Attorney Joyette Holmes said during a press conference.
The indictment formally charges each of the three defendants with nine counts: malice murder, felony murder (four counts), aggravated assault (two counts), false imprisonment and criminal attempt to commit false imprisonment.
"This is another step forward in seeking justice for Ahmaud. Our team from the Cobb Judicial Circuit has been committed to effectively bringing forward the evidence in this case, and today was no exception," Holmes said. "We will continue to be intentional in the pursuit of justice for this family and the community at large as the prosecution of this case continues."
Arbery was killed Feb. 23 when a white father and son armed themselves and pursued the 25-year-old black man after spotting him running in their neighborhood just outside the port city of Brunswick. Gregory McMichael, 64, and Travis McMichael, 34, were arrested May 7 on charges of felony murder and aggravated assault.
A neighbor of the McMichaels, 50-year-old William “Roddie” Bryan Jr., was later arrested and charged with felony murder and criminal attempt to commit false imprisonment. Bryan is the man whose cellphone video of the shooting, which leaked online before the McMichaels' arrests, ignited a national outcry over the case.
Gregory McMichael told police he suspected Arbery was a burglar and that Arbery attacked his son right before being shot. Arbery's family has said he was merely out jogging.
Bryan's attorney, Kevin Gough, has insisted his client played no role in Arbery's death. The arrest warrant for Bryan says he used a vehicle to illegally try to “confine and detain” Arbery.

Comedian and You actor Chris D'Elia has been accused of sexually harassing multiple women when they were underage as accusations of grooming and the solicitation of nude photos and meeting up for sex spread on Twitter.
On Tuesday, a Twitter user named Simoné, who uses the handle @girlpowertbh started a thread in which she shared screenshots of DM conversations alleging to be between herself and D'Elia when she was 16-year-old in 2014.
She wrote: "for the longest time i thought it was embarrassing for ME that i was interacting with this older man but he was the one who DM'd me on twitter and was the one who was twice my age and was the one that used the power imbalance between us to his advantage so f*** chris d'elia."
Another tweet by @girlpowertbh reads: "i am also definitely not the only underage girl he did this too. just an FYI." Adding: "for the longest time i thought this was just a funny story to tell at parties when i realized what happened isn't normal and that he was and could still be doing this to younger girls and it's my job to say something."
The Twitter user claims the only reason she never ended up meeting D'Elia was because she got a boyfriend her own age.
The thread quickly went viral on Tuesday, paving the way for an avalanche of accusations against the Undatable actor, who is aged 40.
Another Twitter user, who goes by the handle @livstadler shared her own experience with D'Elia whereby the comic asked her to "hang out" after she messaged him about a show he was performing in Toronto.
"But I was young and dumb and just really wanted to meet a role model of mine so I agreed to meet him in public, at a bar. 10 minutes before our meeting time, he switched the location to his hotel bar. I sighed, knowing where this was going. But went anyway, I wanted to meet him!" she wrote.
"When I arrived at the hotel bar, I ordered a drink and texted him, telling him I was there. Predictably, he told me to come to his hotel room. I said "no thank you, I prefer to meet at the bar". He stopped responding."
Another Twitter user @LeahKnauer recounted her experience of visiting D'Elia at his home when she was 19.
"His energy that night was very dark and creepy - I remember he even got mad at me for "ringing the doorbell wrong", so our first face-to-face interaction was him scolding me. After a few minutes of talking, I told him I was a virgin. His eyes lit up and he excitedly asked, 'So if we had sex, it would probably hurt you, right?' Then I got immediately creeped TF out and scared he was going to hurt me," she wrote.
She then explained that she was only in the house for around 30 minutes before leaving but that, "even though I was of legal age and consented to going over there, he was predatory and tbh scary."

Eric Johnson, also known as Wavy Banx is a Greensboro, North Carolina native currently residing in Atlanta, GA.
After graduating from college in North Carolina, Banx wasn’t surrounded around much motivation. Many of his childhood friends either turned to drugs or the streets, so Banx had to make a decision on the type of person who he wanted to become.
Isolating himself, he began to pursue and practice music as a way to channel his frustrations. Many people who graduated knew what they wanted to do, but it just wasn’t the same for Banx. Music opened up another avenue for him to express himself.
He practiced the craft by taking up freestyling and other styles of music. He also found lots of inspiration from his childhood when his dad would send him CDs to listen to while he was deployed. Fast-forward, Banx has released a few singles to the public and plans to release more music and videos to garner the attention of industry heads.
When asked about his inspiration, he says he’s inspired by many artists but most importantly, Lil Wayne, Tupac, and Juicy J. Versatility is important to Banx, so he says he loves to create music that can put you into various moods. He plans to release his first project “Rachet and Rewarding” and also plans to roll-out more content for his growing fanbase.
