Rap-Up Reports Rihanna fought back tears while being honored as one of Glamour’s 2009 Women of the Year at Carnegie Hall in New York City on Monday (Nov. 9). The magazine’s latest cover girl broke from her all-black-everything look, turning heads in a dramatic white gown. She was accompanied by her Island Def Jam label head L.A. Reid. Other honorees included Michelle Obama, Maya Angelou, Serena Williams, Maria Shriver, and Amy Poehler. “I am shaking right now. I am so nervous, but overwhelmed and honored by this honor to be Glamour’s Woman of the Year,” an emotional Rihanna said as she was presented with her award from supermodel Iman. “I really look up to my gran-gran and my mom. They are my two women of the year. I love you very much, granny. I love you very much, mom.”

Video And More Pics After The Jump Incarcerated rapper T.I. was honored with two BET Hip-Hop Awards while Jay-Z was named "MVP of the Year" and Drake "Rookie of the Year" at Saturday's ceremony in the A-T-L, according to MTV.com. Ice Cube was presented with the "I Am Hip-Hop" icon award. Kanye West, who led the rap pack with nine nods, was a no-show -- no doubt still reeling from the public backlash after the MTV Video Music Awards fiasco in which he ripped the mic out of Taylor Swift's sweet hands during her acceptance speech and the subsequent cancellation of his tour with Lady Gaga. Hosted by Mike Epps, the awards show will air on BET on Oct. 27.

NY Daily News Reports Sorry Heidi, you're no Britney Spears. Heidi Montag's first "live" performance of her single, "Body Language," on Sunday's Miss Universe competition was nothing short of embarrassing and entertaining. Though the "Hills" star assured the show's host Billy Bush on Twitter that her performance would "be as live as can be," Montag took a page straight out of Spear's lip-synching routines and delivered a sorry show. According to TMZ, pageant staffers were concerned the reality star turned singer wouldn't be able to deliver the show because she "can't remember the lyrics" to her own song. The source added that Montag, who appeared to have used the same costumer who created Spears' 2000 MTV Video Music Awards outfit, looked "like a train wreck" and "can't dance." Despite endless hours of rehearsing in the dance studio, this is where the buxom blonde's comparison with Spears ends. Montag's lack of rhythm couldn't even pull off the weak choreography in the performance, which thanks to NBC, was edited out to introduce the 15 finalists. But at least she has her family to count on as fans! Montag's sister-in-law, Stephanie Pratt, wrote on Twitter, "U embodied my hero Britney Spears... You are an unbeliveable performer!!! Wow!! U looked so hot too :)" While it is unknown how many more performances Montag will force audiences to watch, she remains hopeful about her new foray into singing. "I think people don't know what to expect, and how can they? It's my first performance live and it's in front of a billion eyes," Montag told the Associated Press before performing. "So I'm very excited to show everyone what I'm coming with."

Beyonce To Perform At 2009 MTV VMAs

September 13, the night of the 2009 MTV Video Music Awards was already shaping up to be a pretty busy evening for Beyoncé. — who's nominated for a whopping nine Moonmen. Now, it's going to be even busier. That's because B — who's up for Video of the Year and Best Female Video for her eye-popping, hip-shaking "Single Ladies (Put a Ring on It)" clip — has just been added to the growing list of VMA performers, too. Beyoncé will take the stage to sing "Sweet Dreams," the latest single off her multi-platinum I Am ... Sasha Fierce album. She joins the likes of husband Jay-Z, Lady Gaga, Taylor Swift, Green Day, Pink and Muse, all of whom have also been confirmed as performers at the '09 VMAs. This will mark the third time the real-life Sasha Fierce has performed at the show. In 2003, she shared the stage with Jay for "Crazy in Love." Then in 2006, she brought the house down with a fiery version of her single "Ring the Alarm." Also, while the big show is taking place, there's going to be plenty happening on MTV.com too. That's where we'll exclusively unveil Death Cab for Cutie's "Meet Me on the Equinox," which has just been tapped as the first single off the "New Moon" soundtrack, which hits stores on October 20. And if that isn't enough VMA news we've got for you, it's also been confirmed that up-and-coming rapper Wale and the legendary Washington, D.C., Go-Go band UCB will serve as the official house band for the night. As his work with Lady Gaga on the song "Chillin' " proves, Wale is no stranger to collaborations, so he should feel right at home when he joins forces with the All-American Rejects, Pitbull and 3OH!3 to perform versions of the year's biggest hits.

HipHopWired Reports The Underground Music Awards is making its seventh return as the fireworks are set to start going off August 23. Hosted by Urban Threshold, the event will be showcased at the Famous BB Kings Concert Hall in Times Square, New York City. Last year the event was hosted by Slick Rick and GrandMaster Flash and featured such upstart MCs as Donny Goines, Red Café and Mickey Factz. Geared towards indie artists, this awards ceremony has been dubbed as being the largest awards show that takes place in commemoration for the Hip-Hop heads that take their musical endeavors out the hands of major labels and invest in themselves independently. This goes to show that all work, no matter how much coverage is given, is unappreciated. Old school and new school have been honored at this event in prior years with legends such as Slick Rick, GrandMaster Flash, Kid Capri, Marley Marl and up and comers such as Serius Jones, Joell Ortiz and Saigon. Just like the underground artist on the come up, this awards show is also unconventional and breaks the general rules that have been set by premier awards shows. The sole purpose of this event is to acknowledge unsigned artists and underground artists for their contributions to the urban scene of music unlike things such as the Grammy Awards, the Billboard Music Awards or even BET award shows. The overall theme is blending as DJs, artists, fans, media outlets and music professionals are all brought to the same venue in order to network and build relationships past the closing of the event. Think of it as an awards show mixed with a Hip-Hop Summit or round-table. Performances featured include DMC from Run DMC, Freeway and more. Click here for more information. Also, checkout footage from last year's event.

It took about five minutes for Antichrist to become the most notorious movie at Cannes this year, and its American distributor, IFC, has no plans to let you forget it. Lars von Trier’s sicko epic of parental grief and genital mutilation will open on demand Oct. 21 and in limited theaters Oct. 23, less than six months after its premiere. Many Cannes titles take much longer than that to open in American theaters, if they even reach them at all. But as the late-October date suggests, IFC plans to market Antichrist as a horror movie, a classification few seem willing to dispute even if that’s not strictly the case. It's not clear yet if the film will be released unedited (or uncensored, if you prefer). Starring Charlotte Gainsbourg and Willem Dafoe as a nameless couple who retreat to a cabin in the woods after their son's death, Antichrist shows a wife struggling with depression and sexuality, and her psychologist husband's attempts to heal her.

The 2009 MTV Video Music Awards nominations are in, and the 26th annual show is shaping up to be a battle of female pop and fashion icons: Beyoncé and Lady Gaga lead the way with nine nods apiece and will face off on September 13 at 9 p.m. for coveted Moonmen in categories like Video of the Year and Best Female Video. "I'm excited and honored to be tied for most nominated for the VMAs," Beyoncé said. "I've been blessed this year to have 'Single Ladies' become a video people really connected with and responded to. I've spent so much time watching all the great versions people created all around the world. It's beautiful to feel you touch people and bring a song to life with a video." Lady Gaga expressed her gratitude in her own original fashion. "After years of hustle in New York City, where we made our art videos in bars, myself and the Haus of Gaga are honored to receive nine nominations for the 2009 VMAs," she said. "We believe in the immensity and the promise of 'showbiz' and will continue to give it mouth-to-mouth, till its vomiting return. All you need is a camcorder, a flashlight and one truly great idea. Thank you, MTV, for being our video flagship, and for supporting this bunch of inspired kids, who love to get wasted and make art together." Following closely behind Beyoncé and Gaga is Britney Spears, who nabbed seven nods for her "Womanizer" and "Circus" videos, including in categories like Video of the Year and Best Pop Video. Kanye West, Eminem and Coldplay all received four nominations each. Fans can go to VMA.MTV.com (or text VMA to 97979 if they are Verizon subscribers) to vote for the winners in general categories from Tuesday (August 4) through September 13. In the Video of the Year category, Beyoncé ("Single Ladies [Put a Ring on It]"), Lady Gaga ("Poker Face") and Britney ("Womanizer") will compete with Eminem ("We Made You") and Kanye West ("Love Lockdown"). Joining Lady Gaga in the Best New Artist category are Drake ("Best I Ever Had"), 3OH!3 ("Don't Trust Me"), Kid Cudi ("Day 'N' Nite") and Asher Roth ("I Love College"). The Best Male Video category pits Eminem ("We Made You") against Ne-Yo ("Miss Independent"), Kanye West ("Love Lockdown"), T.I. and Rihanna ("Live Your Life"), and Jay-Z ("D.O.A. [Death of Auto-Tune]"). Best Female Video nominees are: Lady Gaga ("Poker Face"), Beyoncé ("Single Ladies [Put a Ring on It]"), Katy Perry ("Hot N Cold"), Kelly Clarkson ("My Life Would Suck Without You"), Taylor Swift ("You Belong With Me") and Pink ("So What"). Hosted by Russell Brand for the second year in a row, the VMAs will air live from Radio City Music Hall in New York. Taylor Swift, Pink, Green Day and Muse are already confirmed to perform. Celebrity presenters include Katy Perry, Ne-Yo and Chace Crawford. Source

A sultry interloper has ousted Oprah Winfrey from the top spot on the Forbes list of the celebrities with the most juice. Angelina Jolie, who placed third last year, dethroned the media maven despite the fact that Oprah was once again the highest earner on the list. Neither lady, however, made the cover. That honor went to Beyonce Knowles, who finished in fourth place behind a resurgent Madonna. "Beyonce is the perfect example of how to succeed in the business of being a celebrity," Forbes Senior Editor Matthew Miller said. "She became famous singing, and now is maximizing her earnings by singing, writing songs, endorsing products, selling clothes and staring in movies." Both Winfrey ($275 million) and Madonna ($100 million) made way more more than Jolie ($27 million) in the last 12 months, but the Forbes' celebrity power ranking is also based on exposure. Jolie garners loads of that as one of Hollywood's leading ladies - and as the better half of Tinsel Town's hottest couple. Her squeeze is Brad Pitt, who was number 9 on the list, right behind Jennifer Aniston, the actress he dumped for Jolie Source: New York Daily News

What happens when you take five women who gave five very different performances in five very different movies? Well, you get the five ladies nominated for Best Female Performance at this year's MTV Movie Awards. Angelina Jolie brought the action with her role in "Wanted," Anne Hathaway used her comedy chops to get nominated in "Bride Wars," and the drama queens — Kristin Stewart in "Twilight," Kate Winslet in "The Reader" and Taraji P. Henson in "The Curious Case of Benjamin Button" — are all going head to head to try and secure themselves a trophy. With an overwhelmingly strong Twilighter fanbase, it seems likely that Stewart will take home the prize come Sunday. But don't count out the fanboys who thought Jolie was the hottest femme fatale to grace the big screen since Uma Thurman in "Pulp Fiction." Although no one can be ruled out just yet, it seems less likely that Winslet will win for her role in the post-WWII drama "The Reader." And Hathaway might have been funny in "Bride Wars" battling Kate Hudson for her dream wedding, but the competition is stiff. Finally, Henson was nominated for an Oscar for her role in "Benjamin Button," but with Stewart and Jolie as the front-runners, she'll have a tough road. Although it feels like Stewart was born to play Bella, the actress actually wasn't very familiar with the story until she was cast. "I read the script before I read the book, and I accepted the part before I read the book," she told MTV News. "I read the script, did the audition, got the part, then read the book, and the script is a very cleverly condensed version." Will the vampires grab more trophies than the slumdog? What was the year's ultimate onscreen WTF moment? It's up to you to decide the winners of the 2009 MTV Movie Awards. Vote now, and tune in on Sunday at 9 p.m. ET, when the big show airs live from the Gibson Amphitheatre in Universal City, California.
