Video After The Jump

Set amid many of the defining events of the past four decades, The Defiant Ones tells the stories of Jimmy Iovine and Dr. Dre -- one the son of a Brooklyn longshoreman, the other straight out of Compton -- and their improbable partnership and surprising leading roles in a series of transformative events in contemporary culture. From director Allen Hughes (Menace II Society) this revealing, compelling and often-gritty story takes place in recording studios, in humble homes and massive mansions, in criminal courts and in the highest corridors of corporate power.

Hughes shows how decades of defiance and determination helped Jimmy Iovine and Dr. Dre build a few empires, make a series of American dreams come true and transform two American street kids from different tough neighborhoods into a global force to be reckoned with. This epic look at America shows how you can consistently defy conventional wisdom and even logic, and still win big.

The four-part documentary event is told with the help of many of the most notable artists and figures of our time, reflecting Hughes' unfettered access to Iovine, Dre and the remarkable cast of figures who have been a part of their success story. In addition to extensive interviews with Dr. Dre and Jimmy Iovine, who speak frankly about their highs and lows, the show includes interviews with such music icons as Bono, David Geffen, Eminem, Nas, Ice Cube, Gwen Stefani, Jon Landau, Tom Petty, Trent Reznor, Snoop Dogg, Bruce Springsteen and will.i.am. The series also features never-before-seen footage from a multitude of recording and writing sessions with Eazy-E, JJ Fad, Stevie Nicks, N.W.A., Tom Petty, Bruce Springsteen and U2, among others.

(USA Today Sports) — Dana White insisted that Amanda Nunes’ dramatic late withdrawal from UFC 213 was "90% mental" and vowed never to place to the women’s bantamweight champion in a main event again.

White was left frustrated when the Brazilian star pulled out of her bout with Valentina Shevchenko just hours before its scheduled time slot on Saturday, leaving a significant gap at the top of the card.

Nunes claimed she was too unwell to compete in what would have been her second defense of the belt after beating Miesha Tate to secure the title and demolishing Ronda Rousey in December. However, White said that doctors had cleared her to fight after conducting numerous checks.

"It was 90% mental and probably 10% physical," White said. "A lot of fighters have had times they didn’t feel right and we’ve had guys who are outright sick.

"I don’t think I’ve ever had a situation like (this) where she was physically capable of fighting. I won’t do that again. I won’t main event (her) again."

After Nunes pulled out, there was heavy speculation that her struggles to make the 135-pound bantamweight limit had caused her to suffer an illness severe enough to keep her out of the fight.

Shevchenko was furious and said she believed Nunes had tried to gain an advantage by performing a late and drastic weight cut, before immediately bulking up again.

"When you receive notice you can fight, but you don’t want to fight, it’s like, you had three months to prepare," Shevchenko said. "It’s a big, huge event. You can’t just say, 'Oh no, I don’t feel good today.' My goal is to be the champion and I don’t care (against) who, when and where."

The UFC will now try to reschedule the event for UFC 215 in Edmonton on Sept. 9. Shevchenko was paid a discretionary $70,000 to offset her disappointment, while Nunes received nothing.

"We didn’t pay her," White said. "We have never see anything like this from her before. There is no pattern of her refusing to fight somebody.

"She was medically cleared, physically okay. They found nothing wrong with her, but she didn’t feel right. You can’t make anybody fight. Was it the weight cut? No. She might not have been affected by the weight cut, but she was healthy."

Ever since Rousey surrendered her belt to Holly Holm in November 2015, the bantamweight division has been through extraordinary upheaval. Holm was dethroned by Tate in her first defense, who then in turn was trounced by Nunes.

This weekend’s saga was the latest wild development, one which took the sting out of the fight card. Robert Whittaker’s bout against Yoel Romero for the interim middleweight title was bumped into the main event slot, and Whittaker emerged from a tough battle with a unanimous points victory.

In truth, however, this was one of the UFC’s more forgettable nights and one that White will be keen to put in the rear-view mirror.

(New York Daily News) JAY-Z resorts to using an "odious and false" stereotype about the Jewish community in a song on his latest album, an anti-bigotry organization charged.

The Anti-Defamation League — a non-profit Jewish establishment — lampooned the hip hop mogul over a set of controversial lyrics that they believe perpetuates anti-Semitic generalizations in his new song "The Story of O.J."

In the song, which appears on his new "4:44" album, JAY-Z raps: "You wanna know what's more important than throwin' away money at a strip club? Credit / You ever wonder why Jewish people own all the property in America? This how they did it."

The ADL officially condemned JAY-Z's use of these lyrics on Thursday in a statement, contending that the rapper's generalized wording seems to play "into deep-seated anti-Semitic stereotypes about Jews and money.

"The idea that Jews 'own all the property' in this country and have used credit to financially get ahead are odious and false," a spokesperson for the ADL told the magazine. "Yet, such notions have lingered in society for decades, and we are concerned that this lyric could feed into preconceived notions about Jews and alleged Jewish 'control' of the banks and finance."

The spokesperson continued in the statement to say that the organization does not believe JAY-Z, whose real name is Shawn Carter, actually intended to promote Anti-Semitic views with the polarizing lyrics, but the league denounced that portion of the song nonetheless.

"We know that JAY-Z is someone who has used his celebrity in the past to speak out responsibly and forcefully against the evils of racism and anti-Semitism," the statement continued.

JAY-Z has not responded to the Anti-Defamation League's comments. A request for comment was not returned by his rep.

JAY-Z touches on a number of highly personal and social topics in his much-talked about new album, including in the song "Smile" where he reveals his mother, Gloria Carter, is a lesbian.

"Mama had four kids, but she's a lesbian / Had to pretend so long that she's a thespian," he raps.

His mother provides a spoken-word outro in the song, in which she says, "Love who you love, because life isn't guaranteed."

JAY-Z also made headlines for appearing to apologize to his wife, Beyoncé, for cheating on her in other parts of the album, as well as for addressing his fallout with longtime friend and collaborator Kanye West in the song "Kill Jay Z."

"4:44" went platinum less than a week after it premiered exclusively on Tidal.

Video After The Jump

LAPD officer Greg Kading, who by way of investigating the Notorious B.I.G.'s murder became involved in the 2Pac investigation, sat down with VladTV to describe the chain of events leading up to 2Pac's death in Las Vegas. Kading focuses on account of Keefe D, the uncle of primary 2Pac murder suspect Orlando Anderson. "After the altercation at the MGM, Orlando licked his wounds and found his uncle Keefe D," Kading says, "Keefe D was with some characters from New York including a guy named Zip. They had a conversation about how Orlando was attacked by 2Pac, and they plan retaliation...However, they didn't take any guns out there. So Zip who did have a gun offered his, got a hold of the Glock 40 caliber gun and handed it to Keefe D and off they went in search of 2Pac and Suge."
