Kanye West has never been one to shy away from controversy, but fans and activists alike are concerned his newest video “Monster” glorifies violence against women. That’s why activists Sharon Haywood and Melinda Tankard Reist created a petition asking MTV and Universal Music Group to pull the offensive and misogynistic video.
“Monster” is not the usual scantily-clad, hyper-sexualized women washing expensive cars with even more expensive champagne. The video features West, Jay-Z, Rick Ross, and Nikki Minaj surrounded by the “sexy” corpses of women in lingerie. Other women dangle from the ceiling by chains. Behind Jay-Z, a dead, naked woman lies with her mouth wide open, bluntly indicating her last act was a sexual one. Ross erotically eats a plate of raw meat from between a female corpse’s legs. And West practically rapes the dead bodies of two women in bed. The message of the video is pretty clear: women are sex objects and it can be erotic when they are killed in violent, sexual ways.
“The mainstreaming of videos like this increases desensitized and callous attitudes toward violence against women,” said Reist, one of the campaign originators. “Young people are seeing images and absorbing harmful messages which glamorise misogyny and brutalise women. Women are reduced to sex-doll like playthings. So great is the level of desensitization that the barbaric treatment of women and girls is seen as normal and to be expected. We decided to run this campaign because we wanted to challenge the status quo.”
And challenge they have. This week MTV contacted Haywood and Reist to say they will not air “Monster” in it’s current version. The decision is consistent with MTV’s strong commitment to fighting violence against women through their excellent EXIT campaign, which addresses human trafficking and sexual violence against women around the world. However, that corporate commitment has rarely led to the company refusing to air content in the U.S. Haywood and Reist are proud of their success so far, but have indicated they’ll keep fighting until Universal Music Group addresses their concerns as well.

Lil Kim and Puff in happier times
Video After The Jump
During Lil Kim's recent RapFix sit down with MTV's Sway, The Queen Bee had a few more things to get off her chest regarding Lil Cease, Diddy and a possible Junior M.A.F.I.A. reunion.
Off the top she addressed the Cease situation saying at no point will they ever be able to reconcile their differences. The same goes for Junior M.A.F.I.A, she deaded that idea.
"No, next question." she said. When asked about Cease personally she responded. "at this point I would say never. Only God directs my life so I can't say I would never speak to him way in the future, but at this point no."
Besides being upset with Diddy because of the way he "mishandled" the Nicki Minaj, she also said the Bad Boy CEO passed on signing her and Junior M.A.F.I.A. because "he didn't get it" She said Notorious B.I.G. told him he would regret the decision.
"She too pretty to be rapping" Puff would say
"He didn't get what B.I.G and UN [Lance Rivera] were trying to do Kim said. "We all got it, but he didn't."
Kim also says Diddy never once ever once came to see her in jail, or put money on her books.
"I rolled with Puffy to the bitter end and still would have rolled with him, [but] he never came to see me in prison not one time," Kim explained. He didn't write me a letter, he never said 'here's a number for Kim to call' not once. After all the history that we had."

The NAACP Image Awards are drawing criticism on the day it is going to air.
Kid Rock is set to receive the Detroit branch of the NAACP's Greater Expectations Award, but it's his use of the confederate flag that has people up in arms.
Political consultant Adolph Mongo is planning a boycott of the Fight for Freedom Fund Dinner May 1, where Kid Rock is set to get the award.
"It's a slap in the face for anyone who fought for civil rights in this country," Mongo says told the Detroit News. "It's a symbol of hatred and bigotry."
Rock has said in the past that the flag stands for rock and roll.
The award show is also being criticized for their choice of musical performers which include, Jay-Z, Kanye West, Nicki Minaj and Diddy-Dirty Money.
Reverend Delman Coates, senior pastor of the Mt. Ennon Baptist Church in Clinton, Maryland is vocally lashing out at the choices.
"It is unconscionable that the NAACP would sully its brand, squander its legacy, and take such a stand contrary to the aspirations and dreams of the mainstream of the African-American community," said Coates. "While artists are free to produce their own art, it is not acceptable for public corporations and established civil right organizations to sanction the kinds of lyrics promoted by some of these artists," he continued. "These are the wrong images for a civil rights organization to nominate and endorse."
The show airs tonight on Fox at 8pm eastern.

The rapper says more than a few thuggish ruggish broads wanted to bump uglies , but she wasn't having it.
"Every female in prison wanted me ... all of them wish they could have gotten these goodies," she told TMZ.
Da Brat has also been quoted as saying that although Jermaine Dupri didn't visit her, he did put the most money on her. So did Katt Williams, Omar Epps and his wife, Nick Cannon and Mariah Carey, who also visited
The rapper still has her work cut out for her facing the next 3-6 months under house arrest and 7 years probation.
Last year while on work release she mentioned that when she got out she planned a media blitz with tv appearances and music. So expect to see a lot of Da Brat starting later this year moving forward.

Reporter Shomari Stone of Seattle tv station Komo4 was preparing to do a report in Victor Steinbrueck Park when a scuffle suddenly broke out.
Stone sprang into action and stopped a fight where one guy was raining down punches on another.
In an ironic twist of fate, the man Stone saved is said to be a white supremacist, with his arms covered in tattoos of swastikas.
"He thanked me and I said “remember to judge the man by his character and not the color of his skin," says Stone.

Not everyone hangs on Lil Wayne's every lyric, thinking he is the best rapper ever.
Watoto From The Nile's song "Letter to Lil Wayne" is deep and moving.
Written and rapped from the perspective of little girls. The song talks about the confusion felt by children when they hear stars like Weezy say things that go against the things they are taught at home and in school.
"Letter to Lil Wayne" is a direct statement of justice from Watoto From The Nile. Growing tired and fed up with the constant degredation of Black women inside of Hip Hop music, they voice thier views and opinions on this melodic track
Check it out below, it will really make you think.

Seems like Cash Money took an awfully long time to put this out.
The fact is the video is makes up for it. Borrowing the theme from the movie Inception was a nice touch.
Cory Gunz get's his first real taste of major corporation exposure, and as a whole this looks like they spent a few dollars on it.
So yeah, dope song and vid, check it below.
