Some rich person just coughed up an unprecedented amount of money to cop a rare Michael Jordan jersey -- unloading over $10 MILLION to acquire some of His Airness' former threads!!
The MJ jersey -- one that the Chicago Bulls legend wore during Game 1 of the 1998 NBA Finals -- went up for auction on Sept. 6 ... and TMZ Sports has learned the gavel officially came down on the sale on Wednesday for a staggering $10,091,000.
The number is shocking -- considering experts at Sotheby's, which hosted the auction, initially predicted it would sell for around $3 million.
The eight-figure price tag, according to Sotheby's, set multiple records -- including most ever for a basketball jersey at auction, most ever for any game-worn sports memorabilia, and most ever paid for an MJ item.
The jersey -- while expensive -- is pretty incredible ... Jordan wore it when he scored 33 points against the Utah Jazz. And, while MJ lost the contest in the uni, he and the Bulls went on to win the series, giving Jordan his sixth NBA championship.
No word yet on who the buyer is -- but something tells us they've got some deep pockets to put their new jersey in.

ALEXANDRIA, La. (AP) — A woman outfitted with a tiny microphone & hidden camera walked up to a dilapidated drug house on a chilly afternoon last year looking to buy meth from a dealer known on the streets as “Mississippi.”
But as the informant disappeared inside with a career criminal with a rap sheet spanning 3 decades, her cop handlers left her undercover on her own — unprotected & unmonitored in real time. And the devices she carried passively recorded a crime far more horrific than any drug buy.
The dealer forced the woman to perform oral sex on him, twice & paused at one point to conduct a separate drug deal.
“It was one of the worst depictions of sexual abuse I have ever seen,” said an official who saw the footage. "Just the audio from it is enough to turn your stomach. It’s a female being sexually brutalized while she’s crying and whimpering.”
Even as the woman cried and her assailant threatened to put her “in the hospital,” narcotics deputies remained down the block in the blighted neighborhood, unaware of what was going on.
Antonio D. Jones, 48, was charged with second-degree rape, false imprisonment & distribution of meth after cops recovered 5 grams.
“We’ve always done it this way,” said Lt. Mark Parker. “She was an addict and we just used her as an informant like we’ve done a million times before.”
3 weeks after her recorded assault the woman was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia stemming from an arrest that happened about a month before the sting & she’s been booked on possession charges at least twice since then.

A teenage human trafficking victim who was initially charged with first-degree murder after she stabbed her accused rapist to death was sentenced Tuesday in an Iowa court to 5 years of closely supervised probation & ordered to pay $150,000 restitution to the man’s family.
Pieper Lewis, 17, was sentenced Tuesday after she pleaded last year to involuntary manslaughter & willful injury in the June 2020 killing of 37-year-old Zachary Brooks of Des Moines. Both charges were punishable by up to 10 years in prison.
A judge deferred those prison sentences, meaning that if Lewis violates any portion of her probation, she could be sent to prison to serve that 20-year term.
As for being required to pay the estate of her rapist, “this court is presented with no other option,” Porter said, noting the restitution is mandatory under Iowa law that has been upheld by the Iowa Supreme Court.
Lewis was 15 when she stabbed Brooks more than 30 times in a Des Moines apartment. Officials have said Lewis was a runaway who was seeking to escape an abusive life with her adopted mother & was sleeping in the hallways of a Des Moines apartment building when a 28-year-old man took her in before forcibly trafficking her to other men for sex.

HARRIS COUNTY, Texas (KTRK) -- An internal review is underway after a Harris County Sheriff's Office deputy got sick Wednesday morning at a substation. Sources told ABC13 the deputy took drugs, which had been recovered at a crime scene, because he thought they were candy.
It happened at the Cypresswood substation in northwest Harris County. The drugs were colorful in nature & divided into clear plastic baggies & packed in a box. The deputy said he mistook it for candy.
"A deputy fell ill while at the station, was transported to the hospital and was released and (Wednesday) morning," according to a text from Dep. Thomas Gilliland. "We're not sure what exactly caused his illness & we're reviewing the situation."
The drugs were recovered Tuesday at an apartment on Spring Cypress, sources said. Around lunchtime, the resident called the sheriff's office for help when he thought someone had broken in. But a safety sweep yielded no intruder. Instead, deputies found large bags of marijuana & boxes of edibles and mushrooms. One of those boxes, sources said, was left unattended at the substation.
"Evidence cannot be sat anywhere when it is not secure," retired Texas Rangers Chief Tony Leal said. "Once you remove evidence, then it's got to be in the custody of someone or in a place that cannot be tampered with, period."

CHICAGO (AP) — A federal jury on Wednesday convicted R. Kelly of several child pornography & sex abuse charges in his hometown of Chicago, delivering another legal blow to a singer who used to be 1 of the biggest R&B stars in the world.
Kelly, 55, was found guilty on 3 counts of child pornography & 3 counts of child enticement.
But the jury acquitted him on a 4th pornography count as well as a conspiracy to obstruct justice charge accusing him fixing his state child pornography trial in 2008. He was found not guilty on all 3 counts of conspiring to receive child pornography & for 2 further enticement charges.
His 2 co-defendants were found not guilty on all charges.
At trial, prosecutors sought to paint a picture of Kelly as a master manipulator who used his fame and wealth to reel in star-stuck fans, some of them minors, to sexually abuse then discard them.
Kelly associates Derrel McDavid & Milton Brown were co-defendants at the Chicago trial. Jurors acquitted McDavid, a longtime Kelly business manager, who was accused of conspiring with Kelly to rig the 2008 trial. Brown, a Kelly associate for years, was acquitted of receiving child pornography.
Kelly has already been convicted of racketeering & sex trafficking in New York & sentenced to 30 years in prison.
In Chicago, a conviction of just 1 count of child pornography carries a mandatory minimum sentence of 10 years, while receipt of child pornography carries a mandatory minimum of 5 years. Judges can order that defendants sentenced earlier in separate cases serve their new sentence simultaneously with or only after the first term is fully served. Federal inmates must serve at least 85% of their sentences.

HARRIS COUNTY, Texas (KTRK) -- A mother accused of leaving her 8-year-old daughter alone in the parking lot of a bank to fend for herself.
Zaida Gonzalez is charged with abandoning & endangering a child without intent to return.
On Monday at about 4:15 a.m., deputies responded to a call of a missing juvenile in the 11500 block of Grapewood. At the scene, deputies canvassed the area & began looking for the young girl.
As the search for the girl went into the morning hours, authorities got a call from the child's father that she had been found.
When authorities talked with the girl & her father, the 8-year-old said she was with her mom, Gonzalez, who was allegedly driving drunk & erratically. When the girl told her mother to slow down, she was told to get out of the car.
Gonzalez then left her daughter in the parking lot of a bank, where she walked .6 miles, alone in the dark to a nearby gas station for help.
A clerk at the gas station called the Houston Police Department, as well as another family member who was able to get the girl.
Surveillance video from a nearby business confirmed the story.
At about 11:11 a.m. deputies returned to Gonzalez's home, where she was taken into custody without incident. She is out on a $10,000 bond.
Records show this is not Gonzalez's first incident. In 2007 she was charged with endangering a child.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — (WLKY) A wrongful death lawsuit claims a 17-year-old boy who was fatally shot in a parking lot last year died because he was working as a confidential informant for Louisville Metro police.
Now the boy's mother is speaking out after a video on the day of her son's death has surfaced.
Shawanda Carter say her son's behavior was suspicious in the weeks before his death.
Carter now believes she knows what was happening.
The lawsuit alleges cell phone video shows LMPD officers removing "electronic surveillance equipment" from Stoner's body when they first responded to the scene.
The mother's attorney, Ira Schechter, acknowledges the video is "really grainy."
"But I could still make out what I thought was clearly a police officer removing surveillance wires off Devor Stoner & then running away," Schechter said. "And even I thought I could see the wrapping of the wire around his wrist as he sprinted off."
The lawsuit presents only one side of the allegations.
"LMPD resoundingly refutes what is being put forth and further encourages interested parties to submit open records requests for the body-worn camera footage as necessary redactions must be completed in accordance with Kentucky state law."
Stoner died on Aug. 25, 2021, after being fatally shot at the Zaxby's restaurant.
On July 27, Antonio Lawson was indicted on charges of complicity to murder & complicity to robbery.
According to court documents filed in that case, Stoner was shot while he & Lawson "attempted to rob & carjack" a victim.
