Eminem's a living legend with deep roots in Detroit ... and that's what makes him the perfect person to portray "White Boy Rick" ... according to the real-life guy himself.

Richard Wershe Jr., aka "White Boy Rick," tells TMZ ... it's an absolute honor the rapper will portray him in 50 Cent's Starz series "BMF." In fact, Rick tells us it's also perfect casting because Eminem was one of the first people who flirted with the idea of making a movie based on Rick's life.

For the uninitiated ... Richard earned his "White Boy Rick" handle in the 1980s during his drug trafficking trial. The FBI recruited him at just 14 years old to be an undercover informant, but, he went rogue and ended up getting busted for drug trafficking.

Rick was sentenced to life in prison in 1987, but was freed in July 2020 when he was granted parole.

Netflix dropped a documentary about him in 2017 dubbed "White Boy" ... and Richie Merritt portrayed him in the 2018 film "White Boy Rick."

Fiddy's new series will center around the real-life Detroit brothers Demetrius "Big Meech" Flenory and Terry "Southwest T" Flenory ... power players in the city's drug trafficking -- their Black Mafia Family organization raked in nearly $300 mil selling cocaine in 11 states.

Eminem's cameo in episode 7 is directed by 50 himself. The show premieres September 26.

BTW ... Rick, who will be launching his own strain of cannabis called The 8th, gave us a short and sweet message for Em on the role.

Interestingly, when he got out of prison, Rick wore a "Free Big Meech" shirt, and he still has strong feelings about Meech getting a 30-year prison sentence. He's expected to be released in 2028 after a judge reportedly cut 3 years. Big Meech's brother was released to home confinement last year.

R&B singer R. Kelly is a “predator” who used his fame — and an army of devoted associates — to sexually exploit “girls, boys and young women” who he made call him “Daddy,” a federal prosecutor told jurors at the start of his racketeering and sex crimes trial on Wednesday.

Kelly, 54, distributed backstage passes so children and women would join him after shows, then got them alone and “dominated and controlled them physically, sexually and psychologically,” Brooklyn Assistant US Attorney Maria Melendez said.

The “I Believe I Can Fly” singer even recorded sex acts with minors as part of the sick scheme, beat some victims, locked one in a room for several days and gave at least two of them herpes while knowingly infected with the sexually transmitted disease, she said.

“This case is not about a celebrity who likes to party a lot,” Cruz Melendez told the seven-man, five-woman jury.

“This case is about a predator who used his fame, popularity, and network to target, groom and exploit girls, boys and young women for his own sexual gratification.”

She added: “He used his money, clout and public persona to hide his crimes in plain sight.”

The prosecutor also detailed a series of allegations against Kelly, including that he and members of his entourage bribed an official in Chicago to obtain a fake ID for the late singer Aaliyah, so they could get married when he was 27 and she was just 15.

Aaliyah — who died in a plane crash at 22 — had told Kelly she was pregnant and he hatched the wedding plan in a bid to prevent her from testifying against him, Cruz Melendez said during her opening statement.

Brendan Schaub -- former UFC star and comedian -- saved 3 children from a terrifying car wreck last week ... after their father allegedly drove the wrong way on the highway, killing the kid's mom in a fatal collision.

38-year-old Schaub was driving to a restaurant with his girlfriend on August 12 around 7 PM... when he saw an 18-wheeler and a mangled 2003 Lincoln were involved in a serious accident.

Schaub says he saw a child sitting on top of the vehicle, screaming for assistance ... so he pulled over and immediately sprang into action, rushing to the car to help.

At the same time, Brendan says he saw a shoeless man run from the smashed-up car, across the highway ... where he was hit by another vehicle, leaving him stunned on the ground.

When Schaub got to the wreck, he had to bust out a window and remove the kids from the car. He says the big rig's gas tank was punctured, spilling gasoline all over the road.

Tragically, Brendan says the mom of the kids, 26-year old Aimee Garcia, who was sitting in the front seat, died before he arrived ... and he made sure her children did not see the traumatic scene as they left the car.

Prosecutors say Cesar Iban Torres, 31, drove the wrong way with the intent to kill his girlfriend and their children. He was charged with murder, attempted murder, child abuse, assault with a deadly weapon and resisting arrest.

Thankfully, the children only suffered minor injuries.

The family of the deceased mom has started a GoFundMe -- already over $46k -- to raise money for a funeral.

Rusty Hardin on Wednesday confirmed multiple FBI investigations are underway regarding Texans quarterback Deshaun Watson, including one over his alleged behavior and another pertaining to claims a woman extorted him.

Hardin said the FBI approached his team in April about the extortion allegations. The woman who is being investigated filed a lawsuit that said Watson forced oral sex.

Hardin said he learned Tuesday of the federal investigation into the claims actually brought forward in the civil suits against Watson. He said he welcomes those, but simultaneously denounced the women’s lawyer, Tony Buzbee, for bringing that to the media.

FBI investigations are meant to be confidential, Hardin said. The agency declined to confirm or deny whether any investigations were taking place, per its policy.

Hardin also acknowledged the presence of a grand jury investigation, although he said he didn’t know its status. Any subpoenas that might have been sent out would be a standard part of the process, he said.

The attorney also said that Watson has not yet spoken to the NFL, which is conducting its own investigation. The organization tries not to speak with the accused person until any criminal investigation wraps, Hardin said.

ATLANTA (AP) — A man injured in a chase while fleeing from police has been charged with kidnapping and murder in the death of an Atlanta bartender.

Atlanta police filed charges Sunday against DeMarcus Brinkley in the death of Mariam Abdulrab. Investigators say Brinkley kidnapped Abdulrab at gunpoint as she was returning home early Friday from her bartending job at the Revery VR Bar. Later that morning, police found Abdulrab dead from a gunshot.

Brinkley also is charged with aggravated assault, false imprisonment and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, and possession of a firearm during of a felony.

Police did not release a motive in the case.

A 911 call that was made by Abdulrab's rapper boyfriend, Jerry Antoine, captures the first minutes after the victim was forced into a vehicle by an armed man and whisked away just before 5am on Friday.

Antoine, who performs under the stage name Germ, tells an emergency dispatcher that Abdularb had called him to say that she was approaching his house on Burroughs Street in Atlanta after finishing a shift at the Revery VR BAr, but she never made it inside.

Instead, Antoine said he watched from a window as a man wearing a security shirt held a gun to his girlfriend's head and forced her into a black SUV just moments after she emerged from her car.

Brinkley was arrested Friday on traffic charges after colliding with another vehicle while being chased by state troopers in Griffin, south of Atlanta. Called a “person of interest” at that time in Abdulrab’s death, Brinkley was taken to an Atlanta hospital with injuries. Authorities said he would be booked into the Fulton County jail after his release from the hospital.

The bar remained closed during the weekend in mourning for Abdulrab.

“Our hearts are truly broken at the loss of a dear friend and family member,” the bar wrote on social media. “Mariam brought light to every single person she came in contact with and will forever be missed.”

Others left flowers at memorials for Abdulrab, including an image someone painted of her.

A prominent female mayor and women's rights advocate in Afghanistan said the Taliban "will come for people like me and kill me" as the militant Islamist group retook control of the country.

Zarifa Ghafari, 27, leads the city of Maidan Sharh. She is Afghanistan's youngest mayor, became the first female mayor of the Maidan Wardak province in 2018, and has championed women's rights in Afghanistan for years, hosting her own radio show and founding a nongovernmental organization focused on empowering women economically.

"I'm sitting here waiting for them to come," Ghafari told the UK's iNews of the Taliban. "There is no one to help me or my family. I'm just sitting with them and my husband.

"And they will come for people like me and kill me. I can't leave my family. And anyway, where would I go?"

The collapse of Afghanistan's government in the wake of the US military's withdrawal from the nation and the resurgence of Taliban control of the country directly threatens the safety of women in Afghanistan, especially activists, journalists, and female politicians like Ghafari.

Ghafari has faced resistance to her leadership in her relatively conservative province, received numerous death threats, and survived multiple attempts on her life.

And in November, her father, Abdul Wasi Ghafari, a colonel in the Afghan army, was assassinated in Kabul, the country's capital. Ghafari attributed the fatal attack to the Taliban.

"They don't want me in Maidan Shar. That is why they killed my dad," Ghafari said at the time, according to The New York Times.

"I am so broken," she added. "I don't know who to rely on. But I won't stop now even if they come after me again. I am not scared to die anymore."

In May, Ghafari told Time magazine that the US's withdrawal from Afghanistan wouldn't deter her.

"For more than 60 years, men have had all the opportunities, but they haven't succeeded or found solutions for ongoing conflicts," Ghafari told the outlet. "I'm so confident that we, as women, can do better than anyone else."

Philadelphia 76ers star center Joel Embiid has signed a four-year, $196 million supermax contract extension, sources told ESPN.

The Sixers announced Tuesday morning the 7-footer has signed a multiyear deal with the team, but did not disclose details of the contract.

The extension keeps Embiid under contract with the Sixers through the 2026-27 season for a total of $261 million. The four-time All-Star already was set to make $65 million over the final two years of his current deal.

Embiid, who represented himself in the negotiations, became eligible for a supermax extension this summer after finishing second in MVP voting and making the All-NBA second team with averages of 28.5 points and 10.6 rebounds in 51 regular-season games in 2020-21.

This contract is fully guaranteed and includes a player option for the final year, sources said, but does not include the same provisions protecting the Sixers in case of catastrophic injury to Embiid's lower back or feet, like the five-year, $147.7 million deal he signed in 2017.

Since the 2017-18 season, Embiid has avoided the kind of injuries that stalled the beginning of his career. The longest stretch of games that Embiid missed in one season was the 11 games he missed this past spring with a bone bruise in his left knee.

He suffered a tear in his right meniscus during this season's playoffs but missed just one game and did not need surgery after the season, according to sources.

Embiid's extension will begin in 2023-24 and is based off a projected $124.95 million salary cap for that season.

Embiid, 27, has spent his entire career with the Sixers since being drafted No. 3 overall in 2014, posting career averages of 24.8 points and 11.3 rebounds while leading Philadelphia to the playoffs in each of the past four seasons.

A 13-year-old Georgia boy is in custody and charged with murder after police allege he fatally shot his mother, a 37-year-old Navy veteran, and then called 911.

The relationship between the victim and the alleged killer was confirmed by Warner Robins police.

The victim, Dominique Bowers, was found dead by officers in a Warner Robins home at about 1:30 p.m. Friday.

At the time officers were sent to the scene, they were also told that a 911 dispatcher was on the phone "with the possible suspect" concerning a report about shots fired, Warner Robins police said in a news release posted to the department's Facebook page.

Police located and arrested the 13-year-old away from the home where the victim was found.

Authorities did not reveal any information about what may have led to the alleged shooting, or whether the mother and son shared the residence.

According to her Facebook page, Bowers was a former Builder Petty Officer 2nd Class in the U.S. Navy, and had worked for the Virginia Department of Transportation after studying psychology at Roanoke College. Her profile says she was engaged.

The teen shooting suspect, who was not named by police, made an initial appearance in Houston County Superior Court on Saturday and is being held in the Crisp County Youth Detention Center, police said.

The juvenile is charged with murder and aggravated assault.
