Michael Jackson suffered from crippling insomnia and pleaded for a powerful sedative in the days leading up to his death, according to a nutritionist who was working for the pop star. Cherilyn Lee said that she repeatedly rejected his demands for the drug, Diprivan, which is given intravenously. The singer told her that he had been given it in the past by an unnamed doctor. Several months ago, Jackson had begun badgering Ms Lee about Diprivan, also known as Propofol, she told the Associated Press. It is an anaesthetic drug widely used in operating rooms to induce unconsciousness, generally given through an IV needle in the hand. The powerful drug has a very narrow therapeutic window, meaning it does not take doses much larger than the medically recommended amount to stop a person's breathing, leading to cardiac arrest. The LA coroner's office performed an autopsy on the 50-year-old singer's body on Friday but deferred a decision on the cause of death, ordering toxicology tests. A second, private autopsy has been requested by the family, over concern about his final hours. Persistent reports claim that Jackson was addicted to painkillers and other prescription medicines. The Jackson family has questioned the role of the singer’s physician, Conrad Murray, who was with him when he collapsed. It took as long as 30 minutes for paramedics to be called after Dr Murray found Jackson with a faint pulse and performed CPR. Lawyers for Dr Murray, who had been treating Jackson for three years and who had recently moved into the rented mansion, have issued a categorical denial that the doctor had administered an injection of Demerol, a narcotic painkiller, to Jackson before his death. Ms Lee, 56, a registered nurse whose specialty includes nutritional counseling, said she received a frantic phone call from Jackson's staff on June 21 that the star needed her. She was in Florida at the time and told the staff member to take him to hospital. "At that point, I knew that somebody had given him something that hit the central nervous system," she said, adding, "He was in trouble Sunday and he was crying out." Jackson, 50, died on June 25 after suffering cardiac arrest, his family said. "I don't know what happened there. The only thing I can say is he was adamant about this drug," Ms Lee said. She said that previously she had warned Jackson against using Diprivan. "I said, 'Michael, the only problem with you taking this medication' — and I had a chill in my body and tears in my eyes three months ago — 'the only problem is you're going to take it and you're not going to wake up," she recalled. "He said, 'No, my doctor said it's safe. It works quick and it's safe as long as somebody's here to monitor me and wake me up. It's going to be OK,'" Ms Lee said. She said he did not give the doctor's name. Londell McMillan, attorney for Katherine and Joe Jackson, told CNN: "I wonder why anyone would make a comment about something that they don't have much knowledge about. They didn't see the drug administered. It's again because of the Michael Jackson factor." The Jackson family is planning to take the pop star's body to his Neverland ranch on Thursday. A public wake is planned for Friday and tens of thousands of fans are expected to attend. The family is said to be planning a private memorial service at the remote 2,500-acre ranch in Santa Barbara County on Sunday. Plans for Jackson's funeral remain unclear. Neverland, named after Peter Pan's island where boys never grew up, was dedicated to the pop legend's obsession with childhood. At its height, Neverland featured its own amusement park, a private zoo with giraffes and tigers and statues of children at play. Jackson left the estate after his acquittal on charges in 2005 that he molested a 13-year-old boy in 2003 at the estate. It had fallen into disrepair but recently has been partly refurbished by a real-estate investment company that took joint ownership with Jackson last year. Jackson left his multi-million pound estate to be held in trust for his children by his mother who is appointed as their guardian, according to reports. But the pop star left nothing to his father Joe whom he accused of abusing him as a child. The existence of the will drafted by Jackson in 2002, emerged as his parents swiftly moved to take control of his assets in court. The Jackson family have now received a copy of the will which will be verified in court. Jackson's former lawyer, John Branca, is named as an executor, as is veteran music executive John McClain, who was also a friend of Jackson. His parents have asked a judge to make Katherine Jackson, the star's mother, administrator of his estate. A judge has granted Mrs Jackson, 79, temporary guardianship of Michael Joseph Jackson Jr., known as Prince Michael, 12, Paris Michael Katherine Jackson, 11, and Prince Michael II, 7. Another hearing is scheduled for Monday July 6. Source: TimesOnline

BEAUMONT, Texas (AP) - NBA star Dirk Nowitzki's former fiancee Crystal Taylor was transferred from a Texas jail to a lockup in Missouri on Tuesday. Crystal Taylor was transferred to a Missouri jail on Tuesday. (Jefferson County Sheriff's Office / FOXSports.com) Taylor, arrested at Nowitzki's Dallas home in May, was taken to Missouri after posting bond in Jefferson County. Keith Day of Professional Bail Bonding in Beaumont was listed as the agent who paid, but officials there said they were unable to determine where the money came from. Taylor, 38, faces probation violation charges in Missouri. She was charged with theft in Beaumont, Texas, for allegedly failing to pay for $10,000 worth of dental work in 2006. Taylor has told The Dallas Morning News that she is pregnant with Nowitzki's child. Nowitzki has filed for custody if a paternity test proves he's the father. Corrections officials in St. Charles County, Missouri, said Taylor arrived early Tuesday to face probation violations stemming from 1997 charges of forgery and stealing. She is scheduled to appear in court next Monday for a bond reduction hearing in Missouri, court documents said. Calls to Taylor's attorney Scott Renick were not immediately returned. Arnold Klein

Though Michael Jackson was wed to Prince and Paris' mother, Debbie Rowe, their biological father is Arnold Klein, Jackson's L.A.-based dermatologist and Rowe's former boss, multiple sources confirm to the new issue of Us Weekly. "He is the dad," says a Jackson insider. "He and Debbie signed an agreement saying they would never reveal the truth." Though neither Rowe nor Jackson ever confessed to their kids' true lineage, she did admit in 2002 that she carried his children as a personal favor (and would not confirm that the marriage was ever consummated). "I said, 'Let me do this. You need to be a dad. You have been so good to me,'" Rowe -- who met Jackson when she was a nurse's assistant in the 1980s -- has said. Klein would not give a comment to Us. For more details on Michael Jackson's shocking home life with his three children, how the kids are coping with his surprise death and never-before-seen private family photos, pick up the newest issue of Us Weekly, on stands tomorrow. Source : US Weekly ****Update****

We've learned Michael Jackson was not the biological father of any of his children. And Debbie Rowe is not the biological mother of the two kids she bore for Michael. All three children were conceived in vitro -- outside the womb. Multiple sources deeply connected to the births tell us Michael was not the sperm donor for any of his kids. Debbie's eggs were not used. She was merely the surrogate, and paid well for her services in the births of Michael Jr. and Paris. In the case of Prince Michael II (the youngest), we're told the surrogate was never told of the identity of the "receiving parent" -- Michael Jackson. Three days after Prince was born at Grossmont Hospital in San Diego County, Jackson's lawyer came to the hospital to pick the baby up and deliver him to Michael. We do not know if Jackson chose the sperm or egg donors or if he even knew who they were. Although Rowe is not the biological mother, it's not a slam dunk that she would lose a custody battle. This type of case has never been litigated in California courts. Since Rowe was married to Jackson when Michael Jr. and Paris were born, there's a presumption that she's the biological parent. That presumption can be rebutted by other evidence. We know there are documents outlining the whole arrangement for the birth of all three kids. Nonetheless, it's still an open issue with the courts. If you weigh more than 350 pounds or are a critical care patient, prepare to pay an especially hefty price for a ride in an American Medical Response ambulance. The Shawnee County Commission on Monday agreed to allow AMR to raise ambulance costs for critical and bariatric, or overweight, patients from $629 to $1,172. The higher price for critical care patients will pay for an additional care technician and medical equipment, including vents, medical pumps, I.V. and cardiac monitors during their rides, said Ken Keller, AMR Topeka director. Critical care patients, Keller said, are the more unstable patients that AMR transports from more limited or “lower care” facilities to “higher care” hospitals. The technicians who transport them must complete a 240-hour course taught by doctors and nurses. “These are severely traumatized patients — cardiac, stroke or severe trauma — that may be on ventilators, heart monitors or drip medications,” Keller said. “The hospital takes six people to take care of these patients, and we’re trying to do it with one or two.” Keller said AMR needed to increase its charge for bariatric patients to pay for more manpower and transportation equipment. The bariatric equipment includes extra large and reinforced cots, as well as a winch to help technicians load the patients into the back of the ambulance. “These people have special needs during transport,” Keller said of the bariatric patients. “Many of these people don’t fit our standard cots. Our normal cots will hold over 500 pounds, but when you max out the ability of the cot, you put the patients at risk. Having these resources means a little less manpower and a much safer way to lift the patients.” Keller said as a general rule, AMR will begin charging patients the increased bariatric fee if they weigh more than 350 pounds. He said the technicians, however, would use their discretion and consider the overall size of the patient in determining if they are bariatric. “We look at the length and width,” Keller said. “A patient could be 325 or 275. We will look at the qualifiers of the patient and the special needs, and then we submit them to the insurance and see if we agree.” Keller said 60 percent of the bariatric patients AMR transports in Topeka wouldn’t need to pay the higher rate because they receive either Medicare or Medicaid coverage. Only the price for patients with private insurance will increase, he said. He also said the new rate that AMR will charge bariatric patients with private insurance is comparable to other emergency medical services with bariatric equipment. Kansas was ranked the 23rd-most obese state in the U.S., according to a 2008 report from the Trust for America’s Health and the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation. Cindy Samuelson, Kansas Hospital Association vice president, said the level of obesity in Kansas has almost reached a third of the population. “Sixty-four percent of adult Kansans are overweight or obese,” Samuelson said. “It’s more than half of our population in Kansas.” Keller said the Topeka and Shawnee County area is no exception, even if people don’t always notice. “I don’t think a lot of people are aware about the number of bariatric patients we see,” Keller said. “We have a number of people in this town between 500 and 600 pounds that the general public never sees.” Source: CJONLINE

Cop Trying To Halt Attack Kills Victim

Police say they got to 26-year-old Jill Ulmer's Fayetteville apartment Friday night as the suspect was stabbing her. Officers said they were trying to stop 41-year-old Ricky Anderson from killing his ex-girlfriend when they opened fire into the apartment. Monday, the Fayetteville Police Department said one of those gunshots fired by an officer actually hit Ulmer and is listed as her cause of death, along with multiple stab wounds. Police also confirmed that Ulmer was pregnant. Some are running out of words to describe the situation. "It's absolutely horrible. Fayetteville is a small town, and it's a friendly town, and I feel safe. I just feel bad for her family, and my prayers go out to her," said neighbor Anne Kearney. Neighbors still dealing with Friday night's killing got even more troubling news Monday when they learned a shot fired by police officers hit Ulmer while she was being stabbed. "That's awful, but I don't think they had another choice," Kearney said. Neighbors said police did everything they could to stop what was happening. New information also surfaced about the suspect. "We've had a few run-ins with him. He has been the subject of some investigations and some arrests," said Fayetteville police Sgt. Bill Phelan. Police said Anderson is a suspect in an alleged rape earlier this month. He also violated a protective order that Ulmer had against him and had previously broken into her apartment. Domestic violence experts said Ulmer's killing is an eye-opener. "It's kind of like a wakeup call to all of us in the community to keep our eyes open and be caring about anybody, particularly young pregnant women who might have had a violent person in their lives.," said Judi Selle of the Peace At Home Family Shelter. In a statement, the fayetteville Police Department said it is saddened by Ulmer's tragic death and that it was unfortunate that the officers' best efforts to save her life were unsuccessful. Anderson has been charged with second degree murder. His arraignment is scheduled for July 27. Source : 4029TV

"We Are the World" and "Heal the World" were undoubtedly two of Michael Jackson's greatest songwriting and humanitarian achievements. But if MJ had been able to cool off the tension between 50 Cent and the Game, as the California rapper claims he attempted to a few years back, then Jackson could have won the Nobel Peace prize. He certainly would have earned it. Game told MTV News that during his beef with 50, which began in 2005, Jackson actually called the Compton MC and offered to play peacekeeper between the two former friends. "I was on tour in Canada, sitting in my room, cutting my hair," Game told MTV News, recalling Jackson's phone call. "I was messing my hair up. Then my road manager knocks on my door. Boom, boom, boom. He told me, I got MJ on the phone. I ran and snatched up the phone." On the other end of the line was a British gentleman who connected the two musicians. A nervous Game said Jackson started the conversation by talking about music and complimenting him on his records like "Hate It or Love It" and "How We Do." Then the King of Pop asked about the rapper's children. But before the phone call ended, Jackson touched on one last topic, a sensitive matter at the time. "He got to this one thing that makes me laugh, man." Game explained. "He said, 'I don't know how you're gonna feel about this, but I want to ask you something. I don't want you to judge me, but I don't really know everything that's going on between you and 50. But I want to be the middle man behind you putting this situation to bed.' " Jackson wanted the two to meet, with him serving as a mediator, according to Game. The rapper mentioned Jackson's outreach in his new song, "Better on the Other Side," a tribute to the late King of Pop that features Chris Brown, Diddy, Boyz II Men and Mario Winans. A video for the track, featuring behind-the-scenes footage of the making of the record, is set to premiere online on Tuesday (June 30), Game said. On Friday, 50 Cent also released two Michael Jackson tribute tracks, "Respect It or Check It N---a" and "Where You Are." Although 50 and Game eventually put their differences aside, Jackson wasn't involved. Game said MJ wanted all three of the artists to collaborate on a song together. But, unfortunately, nothing ever came about. "It just never manifested," Game said. Source : MTVNEWS

SAN'A, Yemen - A passenger jet carrying 153 people crashed into the Indian Ocean in bad weather early Tuesday while trying to land at the island nation of Comoros. Search teams rescued a child from the sea, officials said, but there was no word on other survivors. The Airbus 310 operated by Yemenia was flying the last leg of a journey taking passengers from Paris and Marseille to Comoros via Yemen. Most of the passengers were from Comoros, returning from Paris. Sixty-six on board were French nationals. The rescued child was 5 years old and the flight also carried at least three babies, Yemeni civil aviation deputy chief Mohammed Abdul Qader said. He said the flight data recorder had not been found. A Yemeni aviation official said there were also nationals from Canada, Comoros, Ethiopia, Indonesia, Morocco, the Palestinian territories, the Philippines and Yemen on the plane. 'Strong wind and high seas' Reuters reported that five bodies were retrieved along with debris from the plane. Mohammad al-Sumairi, deputy general manager for operations at airline Yemenia, told Reuters that "weather conditions were rough" at the time of the crash with "strong wind and high seas" reported. "The wind speed recorded on land at the airport was 61 kph (38 mph)," al-Sumairi said. The Comoros is an archipelago of three main islands situated about 1,800 miles south of Yemen, between Africa's southeastern coast and the island of Madagascar. Gen. Bruno de Bourdoncle de Saint-Salvy, the senior commander for French forces in the southern Indian Ocean, said the Airbus 310 crashed in deep waters about 9 miles north of the Comoran coast and 21 miles from the Moroni airport. French aviation inspectors found a "number of faults" during a 2007 inspection of the plane that went down, French Transport Minister Dominique Bussereau said on i-Tele television Tuesday. He said the jet had not flown to France since. An Airbus statement said the plane that crashed went into service 19 years ago, in 1990, and had accumulated 51,900 flight hours. It has been operated by Yemenia since 1999. Airbus said it was sending a team of specialists to the Comoros. The A310-300 is a twin-engine widebody jet that can seat up to 220 passengers. There are 214 A310s in service worldwide with 41 operators. Christophe Prazuck, French military spokesman, said a patrol boat and reconnaissance ship were being sent to the crash site as well a military transport plane. The French were sending divers as well as medical personnel, he said. According to Paris Airports press service, 67 of the passengers on board the Airbus 310 had flown from France on Monday on an Airbus 330. Most of them were from the French city of Marseille, which has a large Comoros community and where the plane briefly landed to pick up more crew and passengers. French television showed pictures of friends and relatives of the passengers weeping at Paris's Charles de Gaulle airport, many of them railing at the airline. A crisis center had also been established in Marseille, according to Stephane Salord, the consul general of the Comoros in the Provence-Alps-Cote d'Azur region of France. "There is considerable dismay," Salord said. "These are families that, each year on the eve of summer, leave Marseille and the region to rejoin their families in the Comoros and spend their holidays." In France, this week is the start of annual summer school vacations. Yemenia airline officials say the 11-member crew was made up of six Yemenis, including the pilot, two Moroccans, one Indonesian, one Ethiopian and 1 Filipino. The officials asked that their named not be used because they were not authorized to speak to the media. It is the second Airbus to plunge into the sea this month, following an Air France Airbus A330-200 that crashed into the Atlantic Ocean killing 228 people on board on June 1. A preliminary report on that crash is due on Thursday. Source: MSNBC

Man Calls 911 Over Fast Food Order from ChasinDatPaper on Vimeo.

CLACKAMAS, Ore. - A man upset at the way McDonald's employees handled his order was charged after allegedly calling 911 repeatedly on Friday to report the restaurant had robbed him, authorities said. Jeremy Lloyd Martin, 23, was charged with improper use of the 911 service, the Clackamas County Sheriff's Office said. He spent a night in jail over the incident. According to a tape of the 911 calls released by Clackamas County 911, a man initially told a dispatcher that he was at the McDonald's near the intersection of Southeast Sunnyside Road and Southeast 82nd Avenue and needed help. The man said he had paid $10 in the drive-thru but only received a single burger and a fry before he was told to pull around. "Sir, this is not a police matter," the dispatcher told him. "You need to take it up with the manager of the McDonald's." But a person who identified himself as Martin called back demanding that dispatchers send a police officer to the scene and threatening to sue. "This is a 911 emergency," the person said. "I got robbed for eight dollars." "Sir, 911 is life-and-death only," the dispatcher said. "If you do continue calling 911 you will be arrested for misuse." "Well, arrest me at (expletive) 82nd and Sunnyside Road," the caller responded. "Please send a cop right now. I swear to God all my life..." Eventually an officer arrived after a person who identified himself as Martin had called 911 again. A McDonald's employee also called 911 to report that three men were screaming at her and trying to fight. The dispatcher told her to keep the doors locked and not to approach the drive-thru. Another witness told 911 the men were harassing employees. On Saturday, Martin told KATU he stood by his actions. "I was very upset that they tried to charge me for food I had already paid for," he said. Martin said he has worked on the other side of the drive-thru window as an assistant manager at a competing fast food restaurant and has called 911 over disputes involving customers but was never before arrested. "For me to end up going to jail over a $10 order, that's just ridiculous," he said. Source: WWW.2NEWS
