West Coast super lyricist Bishop Lamont has finally confirmed the rumors. He is no longer a part of Aftermath Records.
It was an amicable split with Dr Dre allowing Bishop to leave with 700 plus mastered songs. So expect to see his long awaited album "The Reformation" sometime in 2010.
Bishop sounded upbeat in a call placed into The All Out Show with Rude Jude and Lord Sear on Shade 45 radio yesterday (Saturday January 9th). He jokingly referred to himself as a prisoner who has finally been freed. After nearly five years signed with Dr Dre he felt it was just time to move on.
Bishop follows the departures in the last several years of artists like Joell Ortiz, Marsha Ambrosius, Dawn Robinson, King Tee and Rakim who were all at one point signed to Aftermath, but never released an album while there. Raekwon was supposed to release 'Only Built For Cuban Linx II'. through Aftermath in 2007, but eventually put it out through EMI in 2009.
In Bishop's situation, he seems to point the finger at Interscope Records as the underlying reason his project never saw the light of day. Saying he couldn't get the budget to shoot a video for his Dr Dre produced buzz single "Grow Up" as well as other songs.
The Aftermath roster currently looks something like this. 50 Cent, Eminem, Hayes and Slim Da Mobster (who is also signed to Shady Records & G-Unit Records).
Meanwhile, Bishop just left New York where his is talking to various labels about a new record deal.

A broke but honest cabby spent his Christmas Eve driving back and forth to Long Island to find the Italian grandma who had left $10,000 cash in his taxi outside Penn Station.
Mukul Asaduzzaman, 28, nearly made two round trips between New York City and Patchogue that night, and waited outside an empty house in between, before he finally found his forgetful passenger, Felicia Lettieri, who was visiting relatives in New York.
"It was so beautiful, so kind," said a grateful Lettieri, 72, when she finally got back her lost loot.
Asaduzzaman, a Bangladesh native and pre-med student from Queens, said that he didn't mind spending three hours searching for her.
"When I was 5 years old, my mother told me, 'Be honest, work hard and you will raise your station,' " said the cabby, who refused to accept any reward money.

Videos After The JumpSaturday Night Live seems to have gotten a lot funnier over the last couple of seasons and the Digital Shorts are a big reason why.
In this latest one, R&B superstar Alicia Keys was feeling like she might want some late night company. So she dials up a friend (Andy Samberg) to set up a rendezvous. The hilarious call turns into a three-way with his grandmother, but Alicia was down for whatever!
Alicia also performed "Try Sleeping With A Broken Heart" and "Empire State Of Mind Pt 2" from her latest album 'The Element Of Freedom'

Jana Rawlinson After Breast Surgery (left) And Before (right)An Australian track star had her breast implants removed in an attempt to boost her chances of winning a medal at the 2012 Olympics.
In a magazine interview, Jana Rawlinson admitted she spent $13,000 in the past 14 months getting her breasts enhanced — only to have the cosmetic procedure reversed.
"Yep, I'm back to being flat as a pancake," Rawlinson told Woman's Day magazine.
The 27-year-old runner said she had the implants taken out because she felt they were affecting her performance on the track.
"Every time I raced, I panicked about whether I was letting my country down, all for my own vanity," she said.
"I absolutely loved having bigger boobs, but I don't want to short-change Australia either. I want to feel the most athletic I can, to know that I'm standing on the track in London (2012 Olympics) the fittest I can be."

Former Death Row Records CEO, Marion "Suge" Knight is being taken to court by his baby's mother for child support for their four year old daughter.Tammie Renell Hawkins filed paperwork in Los Angeles Superior Court seeking monthly payments from the once filthy rich Suge. But the days of popping champagne are long gone for the man who once ruled the music industry with artists like Dr Dre, 2Pac & Snoop Dogg.
Ms Hawkins will at the most receive a payment of $302 dollars a month for daughter Taz Maree Knight. Since Suge's reported income is now only $1,207 a month.
This is the second time Suge has been in this situation.
In May 2009, singer and ex-wife Michel'le filed on him for spousal and child support.
It's not looking good for Suge. Reminds me of the famous line from 50 Cent's song "Wanksta". "Damn homie, in high school you was the man homie!"

Audio After The JumpBrittany Murphy's mom and husband desperately tried to revive the actress the morning she died, according to a 911 call released Friday (January 8) to The Associated Press.
"My daughter's passed out," Sharon Murphy tells the 911 operator, who proceeds to relay CPR instructions to the distraught mom. Brittany Murphy's husband, Simon Monjack, can be heard in the background trying to revive the actress and following Sharon's instructions via the dispatcher.
During the eight-minute call, Sharon is heard wailing and screaming, "Brittany, please come back!" She told the operator that Murphy had been ill earlier and had vomited.
An initial autopsy was performed on Murphy in Los Angeles on December 21, the day after she was found unconscious in her Hollywood Hills home and later pronounced dead at the hospital. In an e-mail to MTV News, representatives for the Los Angeles County Coroner's office disclosed the initial results.
"The Los Angeles County Department of Coroner conducted an autopsy on the body of Brittany Anne Murphy-Monjack, age 32, on December 21, 2009," the statement reads. "The cause of death has been DEFERRED pending the receipt of additional toxicological tests and tissue studies that have been ordered by the deputy medical examiner.
"There will be no final ruling as to the cause and manner of death until all of the requested test results have been received and reviewed in context with the autopsy findings. It is anticipated that this process may take approximately 4 to 6 weeks or more. Anatomical findings show no evidence of trauma to the body."
As initial reports suggested, foul play is not suspected in her death. Murphy's family laid the actress to rest Christmas Eve.

America's sweetheart Amanda Bynes wants to show the world she's all grown up and ready to take on more adult oriented movie roles.
I would say doing a Maxim cover and photo shoot is a good way to get that started.
If you're wondering where you have seen the 23 year old actress before. She starred on the Nickelodeon show 'All That' before moving on to teen flicks 'She's The Man' and 'Hairspray'
Amanda says of her Maxim spread 'I want to show people who I am. My parents were like, “Does this mean you’re gonna do sexy movies now?” I said, “Well, if they’re done the right way, then maybe!” I mean, I’m not gonna do porn, but if it’s a Leonardo DiCaprio movie or whatever. It's time for me to start making my own decisions'
We applaud you Amanda, do your thing.
The February 2010 Maxin hits stands January 19.
Jamaican reggae star Buju Banton has pleaded not guilty to a drug charge in a court in Florida.
Banton was arrested in December on a charge of conspiring to buy more than five kilograms of cocaine from an undercover law enforcement officer.
The 36-year-old singer - real name Mark Myrie - did not seek bail as, if released, he would be held by US immigration officials.
It is likely Grammy-nominated Myrie will miss the event on 31 January.
The dancehall singer has been nominated at the Grammys for his latest album, Rasta Got Soul.
Banton was arrested at his home in Tamarac, Florida in early December.
Authorities say he met with a confidential informant to discuss the drug purchase.
His lawyer, David Oscar Markus said Banton is innocent and was set up by "some evil people trying to take advantage of his trusting and honest character".
He is best known for the track Bogle and the controversial single Boom Bye Bye.
In 2004, he was banned from performing at a gig in Manchester after protests about his allegedly homophobic lyrics, which are often used in the genre of dancehall music.

(AllHipHop News) An unusual surge in views on YouTube worked to rapper Twista’s gain.
A video featuring the rapper and rhyme collective Do or Die generated close to 80 billion views on the site yesterday according to the statistics.
The four-minute clip for the song “Do You” was posted by YouTube LadyMC311. According to reports, the video’s 79,441,058,538 views were the result of someone hacking into LadyMC311’s YouTube account.
As a result, “Do You” was briefly YouTube’s most viewed video of all time, eclipsing “Charlie Bit My Finger,” (147,246,806 views) and a performance from Britain’s Got Talent alum Susan Boyle’s (84,765,146 views).
Although questions have been raised regarding the validity of the “Do You” views, Twista sees the situation as a testament to the power of his fans.
“Yea I know it's wrong, and don’t have any idea who that could of been that did the hack,” the rapper told AllHipHop.com, adding that he has never heard of LadyMC311. “I don’t have any idea why they picked my video, but that definitely goes to show you that Twista got those true fans, and I definitely wanna say thanks to the No. 1 blessing.”
The YouTube hacking comes as Twista pursues a pair of non-music related ventures that will broaden his presence among the public as well as utilize his fame towards worthwhile causes.
“Right now I am producing my first reality show deal,” said the rapper, who couldn’t reveal specifics on the deal because “it's under wraps.”
“I just started my own non for profit company helping homeless kids get off the streets and help kids with autism get financial assistance,” the Chicago native stated.
The YouTube hack may be a good thing for Twista, but the talk surrounding the number of views being inflated for "Do You" is valid, as the numbers were false.
Upon checking this morning (January 8), the “Do You” video had 73,317 views since the clip was first posted on YouTube on September 6, 2006.
Despite the rumors, Twista has taken everything in stride as he jokingly put in a personal request to the person responsible for the “Do You” views.
“If you happen to do it again,” the rapper said, “make sure you hook me up a million members on twista.com or my Twitter page.”

Drake isn't a singer-and he's the first to admit it. When he released his highly touted 2009 mixtape "So Far Gone," which finds the Toronto-raised artist singing and rapping, he thought he made a huge mistake. "People were like, 'What is this? There's way too much singing on here,' " he says. "We were really nervous about it and for like a week I was having a serious breakdown."
But a month later, Drake, born Aubrey Graham, realized there was a method to the madness. "Within like four weeks I noticed I had a brand-new sound that takes a while to digest and understand. Things started to pick up and I started to learn the value of taking risks," he says.
Now, the venture is paying off. Last month when the Grammy nominations were announced, Drake learned he was up for best rap solo performance and best rap song for "Best I Ever Had" off "So Far Gone."
"I can't say this is unexpected, because, I mean, it's something that's kept me up many nights," the 23-year-old says. "I dreamed about this for a lot of years and have lost lots of sleep over it. This is like the highest honor and I am humbled by this. It's one of the few awards that isn't a popularity contest; you have to make great music to be honored, and this is completely surreal to me."
It's an honor, however, that has an unintended side effect. With the two nominations that stemmed from his mixtape, that puts Drake out of the running for best new artist in 2010, when his debut album is released.
Lady Gaga experienced a similar technicality in 2009, as she was ineligible for best new artist since her track "Just Dance" was nominated for best dance recording the previous year. The best new artist rules say the nominated performer is eligible for "the first recording which establishes public identity," and a prior nomination indicates that this threshold has already been reached.
But that may be just a tiny regret for Drake, who is set up to receive tremendous exposure for his forthcoming set. Drake, who got signed to Universal Motown through mentor Lil Wayne's Young Money label shortly after the release of "So Far Gone," is prepping "Thank Me Later," slated for a February release. "The best part about 'So Far Gone' was that I didn't focus on structure. The only thing that was consistent was the story and the emotion. That's what I want to do with this album," Drake says. "I make music for people to get lost in it, so, as long as it takes you somewhere, then I've succeeded."
So far, the album features Kanye West, Wayne, Young Jeezy and Jay-Z, and a collaboration with Sade is on Drake's wish list. "Something happened last night too that might be great-it might serve as the legendary sprinkle for the album," Drake says about another potential partnership on the set. "Shut It Down" and "Fireworks" are two tracks slated to make the album's final cut.
"In 2010 I'm really hoping I can stay true to this new way of life I've committed myself to," he says. "I have a special plan to keep the free flow of music going after the album is released. This is definitely a unique path I'm setting out on, and honestly, it's great. I'm honored to be in this position."
