On February 19, 2012 one of the best singers of all time was laid to rest. Whitney Houston was an entertainer with unmatched talent and she was given a very lavish funeral by officials in Newark, New Jersey

The funeral cost the city's taxpayer's more than $187,000 in police overtime, roughly 5% of the budget for the year and some citizens are upset about that.

I think it’s absolutely ridiculous when you have people who are unemployed and homeless, people walking up and down the streets,” Newark resident Quincy Ruffin told CBS New York. "If they wanted it to go that far, do that much, they should have been the ones providing for it."

Others were upset they weren't allowed near the funeral that was attended by many stars like R. Kelly, Alicia Keys, Stevie Wonder and more.

I think it was a waste of time and then now we find out what happened and how she actually died, it makes you think twice saying was it worth it or not,” resident Minerva DelValle said.

In the end city officials feel like they did the right thing by bringing in extra police.

I was able to be witness to the thousands upon thousands of people who were desperate to attend service but held back by barriers and officers of the law,” said Democratic Councilwoman Mildred Crump. “If they had not been there someone may have been trampled, seriously hurt.

The rap world was in shock Monday [April 9] when it looked like Queens legends Prodigy and Havoc might be parting ways, but now it looks like news was bogus.

Havoc reached out to several media outlets late Monday to explain that his phone had been stolen, resulting in an impostor sending out several disparaging tweets about Prodigy.

Just getting back into NY after my Easter weekend with family and friends in Jersey. I left my phone at a gas station yesterday evening while on my way to Jersey after a glorious Knick’s game," Havoc wrote.

"To all Mobb Deep fans: it’s business as usual! It’s Mobb Deep all day!!! My twitter account @THEREALHAVOC will be down until further notice. The only other real account is @PRODIGYMOBBDEEP. Ignore the rest. One!

Havoc's account on the social networking site no longer exists, but Prodigy finally broke his silence on the subject via his Twitter page.

When the song comes on the nightclubs light up, a sure fire sign you have a hit on your hands. That's the reaction you get when the DJ spins LoveRance's hit "Up" which features 50 Cent.

Billboard.Biz reports that it was 50's verse that helped propel the song towards its current chart success. The track was sent to radio in October 2011 and peaked at No. 70 on the charts during it's initial 19-week run.

Once 50 hopped on it the song it re-entered the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs and now sits at No. 7.

Facebook To Buy Instagram For $1 billion

12349292082?profile=original

MSNBC

If a picture is worth a thousand words, a website with a boatload of pictures is now worth $1 billion.

That is the price Facebook agreed to pay for Instagram, a less-than two-year-old company that makes a wildly popular mobile photography application.

"I'm excited to share the news that we've agreed to acquire Instagram and that their talented team will be joining Facebook," Facebook's head honcho Mark Zuckerberg said in a posting on Facebook (where else?) Monday.

Facebook, which is busy planning an initial public offering that could value the social networking at more than $100 billion, will pay a combination of cash and stock for Instagram, Reuters reported. Based in San Francisco, Instagram has about a dozen employees. The deal is expected to close by June 30.

"For years, we've focused on building the best experience for sharing photos with your friends and family. Now, we'll be able to work even more closely with the Instagram team to also offer the best experiences for sharing beautiful mobile photos with people based on your interests," Zuckerberg said in his Facebook post.

Facebook is expected to raise up to $10 billion in its IPO, which could come in May or June.

Last year, Facebook reportedly was planning to add filters and other tools to its mobile photography app to match Instagram's popular filters, which allow users to manipulate images to make them look old-timey and add other kinds of effects. The aim was to attract Instagram users and meet a competitive threat.

"We’re psyched to be joining Facebook and are excited to build a better Instagram for everyone," Instagram CEO Kevin Systrom said in a statement.

He also promised the acquisition would not alter the Instagram experience for its approximately 30 million users.

"The Instagram app will still be the same one you know and love. You’ll still have all the same people you follow and that follow you. You’ll still be able to share to other social networks. And you’ll still have all the other features that make the app so fun and unique," Systrom said.

Last week, Instagram made the long-awaited announcement that its app was available for users who run Google's Android on their smartphones. Prior to that it was only available on iPhones. The Android app reportedly nabbed about 1 million downloads in the first 24 hours.

The acquisition was a strategic departure for Facebook, which until now has been content with buying startups on the cheap for their talent. Instagram will run as an independent app with its own brand.

"This is an important milestone for Facebook because it's the first time we've ever acquired a product and company with so many users," Zuckerberg said. "We don't plan on doing many more of these, if any at all."

Since Instagram's founding in the autumn of 2010, it has gathered about $50 million in venture funding. That includes about $500,000 in seed investment in March 2010 from Andreesen Horowitz and Baseline Ventures, according to the website Crunchbase.

Last year the company raised another $7 million, and this year the company just closed a $50 million round of funding that valued the company at $500 million, according to TechCrunch, meaning those investors virtually doubled their money overnight.

There appears to be a major rift developing between longtime collaborators Havoc and Prodigy of Mobb Deep. Havoc hit up Twitter Monday morning around 3 a.m. to proclaim that Prodigy is homosexual.

"Prodigy a b*tch and I'm gonna show it, follow!! ground breaking news," Havoc wrote. "i got n*ggas in the jail system to to back up that prodigy was f*cking homes in jail. prodigy prove me wrong! please. i have a big announcement.... and n*ggas that was locked wit him know the truth. now i will silence.... and let the jails take care of the rest. thats on everything, i had to smack P ask him. prodigy u p*ssy! u long island ass b*tch. I'm about to expose u! i can't wait!"

Now this is the part where you would normally start to hear about a person's Twitter being hacked, but Havoc continued his verbal assault

It would be pretty hard to believe that after all these years Mobb Deep would end via Twitter. We'll keep you informed as this story develops.

**UPDATE**

Sway of MTV sent a text to Havoc this morning and got a reply that his tweets are real according to his Sway in the Morning co-host Devi Dev.

Lil Wayne's new skateboarding hobby might have gotten him into some trouble last week in Miami.

TMZ is reporting that the rapper and his crew were skateboarding near a "no skateboarding" sign when a photographer decided to take some pics.

12349284883?profile=original

Once it began to rain, Lil Wayne and his crew headed for their vehicles while the photographer continued to snap pics, which angered Weezy.

According to the report, Wayne ordered his crew to take the man's camera. At that point eight men surrounded the photographer - making him delete several pictures, spat on him and beat his bicycle with a skateboard.

The photographer immediately filed a police report at the Miami Beach Police Station.

Check out the video and pics below.

This is not how we are supposed to do it.

Montell Jordan scored a huge hit with "This Is How We Do It" in 1995, unfortunately he failed to pay Uncle Sam from 1999-2001 leaving him with a huge tax debt.

TMZ is reporting that the singer owes the IRS $627,987.06.

The government filed a tax lien against his property in 2004. Since he didn't pay up the lien against his property was re-filed last month. If he doesn't come up with the money the government can go after his property in court.
