A Hyundai supplier used child labor in a plant that supplies parts to the Korean automaker’s Montgomery factory.

Reuters is reporting that children as young as 12 have been recently employed at SMART Alabama in Luverne, which has supplied parts for Hyundai since 2003.

The story of the children came to light following the February 3 disappearance of a 14-year-old Guatemalan migrant child in Alabama, the news service stated.

The child was later found safe in Athens, Ga.

According to Reuters, the child & her 2 brothers, aged 12 & 15, all worked for the plant. After the publicity generated by the February disappearance case, SMART reportedly dismissed several underage workers, according to former employees.

Alabama & federal laws restrict minors under age 18 from working around dangerous machinery, while Alabama law requires children 17 and under to be enrolled in school.

SMART, in a statement, said it follows federal, state & local laws & “denies any allegation that it knowingly employed anyone who is ineligible for employment.”

Xzibit is lying to the court about his financial situation simply to avoid writing some big checks to his estranged wife for spousal support ... at least according to her.

The former "Pimp My Ride" star's estranged wife, Krista Joiner, claims in new legal docs Xzibit is making it seem like he's fallen on tough times when in reality he's got millions in cash.

In the docs, obtained by TMZ, Krista claims Xzibit's brother told her he takes home over $1 million a month from cannabis companies & stores the cash in multiple locations using bank-sized vaults. She says the bro also told her he personally stored $20 million for Xzibit in various vaults & brings X cash on demand.

In the docs, she paints a much different financial picture of Xzibit than he has. The rapper claims he isn't making any money from his weed ventures & is struggling to make ends meet.

Krista, who filed for divorce in February 2021, also says X is lying about her going behind his back to get a new lease on a 2021 Bentley, dragging her feet on the sale of the family home & living in the mansion with her new boyfriend.

She claims Xzibit is full of baloney & she's accusing him of trying to sway the court's opinion so he doesn't have to cut her huge monthly checks.

His estranged wife says she's the one having a tough time financially ... claiming she recently lost her job & has no earnings to support herself or their son.

Krista claims Xzibit has been ignoring her requests for gas money, food and haircuts for their son & says she had to go through attorneys to beg X to pay for their kid's inhalers.

NEW YORK (AP) — The spread of monkeypox in the U.S. could represent the dawn of a new sexually transmitted disease, though some health officials say the virus that causes pimple-like bumps might yet be contained before it gets firmly established.

Experts don’t agree on the likely path of the disease, with some fearing that it is becoming so widespread that it is on the verge of becoming an entrenched STD — like gonorrhea, herpes & HIV.

But no one’s really sure & some say testing & vaccines can still stop the outbreak from taking root.

So far, more than 2,800 U.S. cases have been reported as part of an international outbreak that emerged 2 months ago. About 99% have been men who reported having sex with other men.

Health officials are not sure how fast the virus has spread.

With such huge question marks, predictions about how big the U.S. outbreak will get this summer vary widely, from 13,000 to perhaps more than 10 times that number.

Monkeypox is endemic in parts of Africa, where people have been infected through bites from rodents or small animals. It does not usually spread easily among people.

But this year more than 15,000 cases have been reported in countries that historically don’t see the disease.

It spreads mainly through skin-to-skin contact, but it can also be transmitted through linens used by someone with monkeypox.

Symptoms include fever, body aches, chills, fatigue & the bumps on parts of the body. The illness has been relatively mild in many men & no one has died in the U.S. But people can be contagious for weeks & the lesions can be extremely painful.

Longwood police said a father was arrested and charged with the murder of his 3-year-old daughter.

Investigators issued an arrest warrant for Juan Bravo-Torres.

Bravo-Torres is currently in the hospital after police said he stabbed himself.

Officers said he also hurt his 12-year-old daughter.

Investigators said she ran about a mile after the attack to a McDonald’s in search of help.

“For someone of that age to have the wherewithal to be able to get out of the house to get away from the attacker and to be able to make it almost a mile away while suffering major life-threatening injuries. It is just something that will blow you away,” said Longwood police Sgt. Derek Chenoweth.

The 12-year-old girl is in critical condition in the hospital.

Police said the girls’ mother was not home at the time.

WASHINGTON (AP) — The White House announced Friday that the U.S. is sending an additional $270 million in security assistance to Ukraine, a package that will include additional medium range rocket systems & tactical drones.

The latest tranche brings the total U.S. security assistance committed to Ukraine to $8.2 billion since the war began in late February & is being paid for through $40 billion in economic & security aid for Ukraine approved by Congress in May.

The new package includes & High Mobility Artillery Rocket Systems, or HIMARS, and 580 Phoenix Ghost drones, both crucial weapon systems that have allowed the Ukrainians to stay in the fight despite Russian artillery supremacy.

Russia can fire far more ammunition but has sustained huge losses of troops & equipment as Ukrainian forces have been equipped with precision weaponry from the U.S. & other Western allies. CIA Director William Burns on Wednesday said the U.S. estimates roughly 15,000 Russian forces have been killed. That death toll would be equivalent to the Soviet Union’s military losses in its 1980s war in Afghanistan, which lasted nearly a decade.

Ukraine has long sought more HIMARS launchers, which fire medium-range rockets & also can be quickly moved before Russia can target them.  

U.S. authorities also are providing Ukraine with more guided rockets known as GMLRS. The Pentagon continues to rule out sending longer-range rockets that Ukraine could potentially use to strike deep into Russian territory. That’s a nod to the U.S. trying to manage the risk of Russia instigating a broader war.

The U.S. has already sent 12 truck-mounted HIMARS to Ukraine. The U.K & also provided & launchers of a different kind with GMLRS rockets as well.

A woman in Georgia has died after she was taken into custody but somehow managed to fall out of a police patrol car while authorities were taking her to the sheriff's office.

The incident occurred on July 15 when 28-year-old Brianna Marie Grier of Sparta, Georgia, was taken into custody by Hancock County Sheriff's Office deputies after they were called to her home on Hickory Grove Church Road, according to a statement released by the Georgia Bureau of Investigation.

"Grier was arrested at the home," the statement from the GBI said. "While deputies were taking Grier to the Hancock County Sheriff's Office, Grier fell out of a patrol car & sustained significant injuries."

It is unclear if Grier was handcuffed while she was in the vehicle, how fast the car was going at the time or how exactly she was able to fall out of the car while en route to the sheriff's office. The GBI statement did not say why Grier had been taken into custody in the first place.

Grier died on Thursday at Grady memorial Hospital in Atlanta at approximately 1 p.m. from injuries she sustained in the fall.

"Hancock County Sheriff Terrell Primus asked the GBI's regional investigate office in Milledgeville to investigate on July 15 following the initial incident," said the GBI.

Authorities said that Grier's body will be taken to the GBI Crime Lab for an autopsy & that the GBI investigation is ongoing.
