Civil Rights Lawyers Call For Criminal Investigation After Venezuelan Migrants Are Flown To Martha's Vineyard By Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis Without Warning

BOSTON (WCVB) — Attorneys are exploring legal remedies for the Venezuelan migrants who were flown to the Massachusetts island of Martha's Vineyard without warning by Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis.

The group Lawyers for Civil Rights stated it representing more than 30 of the 48 migrants & is calling for a criminal investigation into what it described as a shameful political stunt.

In letters to U.S. Attorney Rachael Rollins & Massachusetts Attorney General Maura Healey, Lawyers for Civil Rights stated that their clients were "induced to board airplanes and cross state lines under false pretenses" & that it was "only when the flight was mid-air that they were informed they would be flown to Martha's Vineyard rather than Boston."

U.S. Rep. Jim McGovern, who represents the 2nd congressional district of Massachusetts, said the ordeal could be considered human trafficking.

"These are major violations of federal law that should be investigated," McGovern said.

On Sunday, Massachusetts Gov. Charlie Baker announced that he has activated up to 125 members of the Massachusetts National Guard to help the Massachusetts Emergency Management Agency in its relief efforts for the group of Venezuelan migrants, who are currently housed in a dormitory-style space at Joint Base Cape Cod.

MEMA continues to lead coordination efforts among state & local officials to ensure access to food, shelter and essential services for the migrants.

"We have seen Massachusetts step up & show what the best of our state & our country represent," said Boston Mayor Michelle Wu.

August Alsina claims Tory Lanez & a bunch of goons rolled up on him and attacked -- showing off a photo of himself as proof ... although, Tory's calling BS.

The singer took to IG Sunday with a pic that shows himself leaning up against an elevator wall with blood running down his mouth & appearing dazed. According to August, it's evidence that he was beaten up on Saturday ... by who he claims was none other than Tory.

August claims Tory & a bunch of his security guards approached him as he was leaving a show, encircling him & pressing him. August says Tory wanted to know why he hadn't dapped him up in the past.

August says it all had to do with Tory taking shots at him a couple years back when he spoke on his situation with Jada Pinkett Smith -- so he figured TL simply didn't like him & didn't feel it necessary to pretend they were on friendly terms.

Then, according to AA, Tory sucker punched him as August was trying to get himself out of the situation ... this after he claims the dude took a hit from a blunt & got all hyped up. August insists it wasn't a fight, but simply an assault & that Tory & co. scrammed.

He also alleges Tory's crew got the whole thing on camera, asking they release the footage. August says he posted this because he'd seen/heard Tory running his mouths to blogs & wants to get the true story out there. For his part, Tory's saying the whole thing's a lie.

He says he was in the studio all night, denying he was involved in anything like what August is describing. We've reached out to Chicago PD to see if a police report was filed.

Woman Robs A Bank For Her Own Money To Pay For Sister's Cancer Treatment: "I Have Nothing More To Lose" (Video)

An armed woman walked away with more than $13,000 of her own savings from a bank in the Lebanese capital, Beirut, on Wednesday, after briefly holding up the branch.

A video apparently of the woman, identified as Sally Hafiz, has been uploaded to Twitter. Hafiz said she demanded the money to help pay for her sister’s cancer treatment.

Lebanon’s banks have locked most depositors out of their savings since a financial crisis took hold three years ago, leaving much of the population unable to pay for basic needs. People can withdraw up to $800 a month.

Hafiz was celebrated as a hero across social media in Lebanon, as many in the small crisis-hit country struggle to make ends meet & retrieve their savings. She encouraged others to take similar action.

Hafiz later told Al Jadeed that the gun was a toy.

“I have nothing more to lose, I got to the end of the road. I went to the branch manager 2 days ago & said my sister is dying, she doesn’t have time,” she said. “I got to a point where I was going to sell my kidney so that my sister could receive treatment."

Chaka Zulu, The Longtime Manager Of Rapper/Actor Ludacris, Facing Murder Charges In Atlanta Shooting

ATLANTA, Ga. (CBS46) - Music executive and Atlanta rapper Ludacris’ manager Chaka Zulu has been arrested and is facing murder charges in connection to a shooting in Buckhead in June.

Officials say Zulu, whose real name is Ahmed Obafemi, was identified by police as a suspect in a case dating back to June.

Zulu faces murder, aggravated assault, possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime & simple battery charges.

On Sept. 13, Obafemi turned himself in at the Fulton County Jail. Officials said he posted bond later that day.

In June, Zulu was injured in a triple shooting outside of a restaurant in Buckhead.

Two other men were shot, one of which died. The deceased was identified as 23-year-old Artez Benton.

Zulu, Ludacris & Zulu’s brother Jeff Dixon founded Disturbing Tha Peace Records in 1998. The label signed a long-term deal with Def Jam Recordings in 2008.

19-Yr Old Houston Illegal Game Room Manager Fatally Shoots Would-Be Robber After Being Stabbed Twice

CHANNELVIEW, Texas (KTRK) -- A suspected robber was shot and killed during an attempted robbery at an illegal game room in the Channelview area early Saturday, according to deputies.

At about 1 a.m., Harris County Sheriff's Office deputies said they responded to a shooting at an illegal game room located at 240 Dell Dale Street.

Upon arrival, deputies said they found a 19-year-old manager that had been stabbed at least twice.

Deputies believe the manager got stabbed while trying to stop a man from robbing the game room and fired two shots, killing the suspect.

The 19-year-old was taken to the hospital and is recovering from the stab wounds.

According to deputies, there were customers inside the business at the time of the incident.

Investigators said they are trying to locate the business owner of the illegal game room.

AP) — Carey Wooten spent nearly 7 weeks hunting for safe drinking water for herself, her 2 children & 3 dogs, so Gov. Tate Reeves’ announcement that the water is clean again in Mississippi’s capital came as welcome news.

But the crisis in the city of Jackson isn’t over.

“The water that’s coming out of my kitchen sink smells like fresh sewage ... as soon as you turn it on, it hits you right in the face. It’s horrible,” Wooten said. “I’ve tried to give 1 of my dogs the water, but when she smells it she won’t even touch it.”

How did this happen? Residents, politicians, experts & activists say systemic racism is the root cause.

Jackson’s population has declined since 1980, a decade after the city’s schools began integrating. Many white families left for the suburbs, leaving less revenue to maintain the infrastructure. Middle class Black people then moved out to escape urban decay & rising crime. State & federal spending never made up the difference.

When it comes to water scarcity & contamination, they say working-class communities of color are most vulnerable. Jackson’s population is more than 80% Black & the poverty level is 24.5%. Majority-Black Flint, Michigan, has struggled to remove lead from its water since 2014. Other areas where large poor or nonwhite populations lack reliably safe drinking water include major cities like Baltimore & Honolulu as well as smaller municipalities like Las Vegas, New Mexico & Benton Harbor, Michigan.

“I want to be hopeful & optimistic,” Karla McCullough said. “In my lifetime, I may not see the infrastructure fixed & it restored to a point where there are not any water issues. But my hope is that my son & his children won’t have to deal with this.”

Some rich person just coughed up an unprecedented amount of money to cop a rare Michael Jordan jersey -- unloading over $10 MILLION to acquire some of His Airness' former threads!!

The MJ jersey -- one that the Chicago Bulls legend wore during Game 1 of the 1998 NBA Finals -- went up for auction on Sept. 6 ... and TMZ Sports has learned the gavel officially came down on the sale on Wednesday for a staggering $10,091,000.

The number is shocking -- considering experts at Sotheby's, which hosted the auction, initially predicted it would sell for around $3 million.

The eight-figure price tag, according to Sotheby's, set multiple records -- including most ever for a basketball jersey at auction, most ever for any game-worn sports memorabilia, and most ever paid for an MJ item.

The jersey -- while expensive -- is pretty incredible ... Jordan wore it when he scored 33 points against the Utah Jazz. And, while MJ lost the contest in the uni, he and the Bulls went on to win the series, giving Jordan his sixth NBA championship.

No word yet on who the buyer is -- but something tells us they've got some deep pockets to put their new jersey in.

But as the informant disappeared inside with a career criminal with a rap sheet spanning 3 decades, her cop handlers left her undercover on her own — unprotected & unmonitored in real time. And the devices she carried passively recorded a crime far more horrific than any drug buy.

The dealer forced the woman to perform oral sex on him, twice & paused at one point to conduct a separate drug deal.

“It was one of the worst depictions of sexual abuse I have ever seen,” said an official who saw the footage. "Just the audio from it is enough to turn your stomach. It’s a female being sexually brutalized while she’s crying and whimpering.”

Even as the woman cried and her assailant threatened to put her “in the hospital,” narcotics deputies remained down the block in the blighted neighborhood, unaware of what was going on.

Antonio D. Jones, 48, was charged with second-degree rape, false imprisonment & distribution of meth after cops recovered 5 grams.

“We’ve always done it this way,” said Lt. Mark Parker. “She was an addict and we just used her as an informant like we’ve done a million times before.”

3 weeks after her recorded assault the woman was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia stemming from an arrest that happened about a month before the sting & she’s been booked on possession charges at least twice since then.
