Las Vegas police on Monday searched a home in connection with the investigation into the murder of superstar rapper Tupac Shakur.
The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department on Monday searched a home in Henderson, less than 20 miles from the Las Vegas Strip where Shakur, 25, was killed in a drive-by shooting in 1996.
"LVMPD can confirm a search warrant was served in Henderson, Nevada on July 17, 2023, as part of the ongoing Tupac Shakur homicide investigation," Las Vegas police said in a statement. "We will have no further comment at this time."
The investigation into Shakur's killing has been going on for nearly 3 decades.
In 2019, Greg Kading, a retired Los Angeles police detective, alleged to CBS News Los Angeles that Shakur's murder had already been solved after Duane Davis — also known as Keffe D — confessed to his involvement in the killing of Shakur while being questioned in connection with the murder of Biggie Smalls.
But at the time, Las Vegas police only said that the case was still an open investigation.
Last month, Shakur posthumously received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in honor of his contributions to the arts, as well as his activism for racial equality.
The rapper influenced the hip-hop genre & amassed a global fan base, selling over 75 million records worldwide and winning 6 Grammy Award nominations during his short 5-year recording career.

CNN — A 12-year-old girl in Detroit is facing charges after allegedly throwing acid on an 11-year-old girl at a playground.
Deaira Summers, the 11-year-old suffered 2nd-degree burns on her back, legs & arms in the July 9 attack, her mom, Dominique Summers told CNN affiliate WXYZ.
Summers said Deaira was playing with her siblings & cousins at a playground when she was caught in the middle of an altercation between the 12-year-old & 1 of Deaira’s family members.
“I feel like it was the most evil thing you could do to a kid & especially the fact that she was an innocent bystander,” Summers told WXYZ.
The 12-year-old is expected in court Tuesday afternoon for a hearing on the charges – assault with intent to do great bodily harm & felonious assault.
Summers said life for her & Deaira has changed since the attack.
“It takes maybe 2 hours what used to be 20 minutes getting dressed,” she told WXYZ. “It takes about 2 hours to give her her medicine. I have to give her medication 30 minutes before she takes a bath.”
During a preliminary hearing over the weekend, bond for the 12-year-old was set at $10,000.

BENTON COUNTY, Ark. (KNWA/KFTA) — A former Gentry teacher has been sentenced after pleading guilty to having a sexual relationship with a student.
Leah Ruthann Queen, 44, of Westville, Oklahoma, was arrested in September for sexual assault for an inappropriate relationship dating back to 2010.
Queen was sentenced to six years of state-supervised probation as well as 58 days in the Benton County Jail.
Queen was a teacher at Gentry Intermediate School during the time of the incident.
An affidavit says that the victim claims that when they were 17-years-old when Queen befriended them after a basketball game and the two began socializing outside of school hours.
The victim says that the sexual contact began the summer of 2010.
The affidavit says that the events would occur in Queen’s office or office bathroom.
Queen’s ex-husband was interviewed during the investigation and reported seeing the victim sharing a bed with Queen on multiple occasions.
The victim’s parents and a former teacher corroborated the victim’s claims.
Queen initially pleaded not guilty but changed her plea to guilty.

G Herbo might not be facing a gun possession case right now, if it weren't for the simplest of traffic infractions ... at least, according to the cops who busted the "PTSD" rapper.
Chicago police tell us Herbo was pulled over in a vehicle that had failed to display a turn signal in traffic & it was during that July 9 stop that cops say they found a Glock 33 in the car.
We also got a hold of Herbo's latest mugshot, and he looks either perplexed or amused over the situation. Let's face it, having a perfectly good Sunday Funday ruined over jail time is guaranteed to dampen your mood.
As we previously reported, Herbo didn't spend long behind bars & was later released on bond.

HOOVER, Ala. (AP) — A 25-year-old Alabama woman returned home late Saturday after being the focus of a 2-day search by police & family members who reported her missing after she stopped to check on a child who was walking along a highway.
Police said Carlethia “Carlee” Nichole Russell had returned to the home she shares with her parents in Hoover Saturday night.
Hoover Police Chief Nick Derzis said Russell arrived home alone & was brought to a hospital for evaluation.
Russell’s whereabouts were not immediately clear since around 10:45 p.m. Thursday when she called 911 & a family member to say she saw a young child walking on the side of Interstate 459.
Police found Russell’s car & her cellphone but were unable to find her or a child in the area.
Hoover Police Lt. Daniel Lowe said the family member on the phone with Russell lost contact with her even though the line remained open. A single witness reported possibly seeing a gray vehicle and a man standing outside of Carlee’s vehicle.
Talitha Russell said her daughter was headed home in the community about 10 miles south of Birmingham after leaving work & stopping to get food. She was on the phone with her brother’s girlfriend when she said she saw a child on the roadside.

Tory Lanez has been denied new counsel after potential defense lawyer Ronda Renee Dixon accused his current reps of taking advantage of the singer/rapper. According to legal journalist Meghann Cuniff, Lanez wants Dixon to step in & work under Jose Baez, replacing Matthew Barhoma.
On Wednesday (July 12), Cuniff tweeted out the judge’s decision & also shared a prior conversation between herself & Dixon.
“These guys are just taking advantage of [Lanez],” Cuniff claims Dixon stated. “They’ve had him sign powers of attorneys. They’re acting on his behalf. … They’re not really asking him what he wants.”
Cuniff also recalled Dixon’s meeting with the 30-year-old entertainer. “His eyes were black. He was totally despondent,” Dixon said. “He told me he wanted to go to state prison. I said, ‘You want to go to state prison? Why?'” to which Lanez responded “At least I’ll be able to go out in the yard & talk to people.'”
“That upset me. I don’t think he’s guilty,” she admitted.
In Dixon’s motion to join Lanez’s legal team, she argued that the Sorry 4 What rapper has been treated poorly while incarcerated because of his celebrity status.
“Merely because he is well known, the Sheriff has decided that Mr. Peterson is of such great threat that he must be confined in the same manner as those convicted of serial rape charges & murder,” Dixon wrote in her motion.
Sentencing was originally scheduled for Jan. 2, a month after he was found guilty & then pushed to Feb. 28 because he changed counsel. During that court date, Lanez filed a motion for a new trial, to which he was denied.
Lanez is now facing a maximum sentence of 22 years & 8 months after being found guilty of shooting Megan Thee Stallion in the foot. He also faces possible deportation to Canada.
