COLUMBUS, Ohio (WSYX) — A man accused of kidnapping 7-year-old girl in Hardin County in November has been indicted on more than a dozen charges.

According to court documents, a grand jury in Hardin County indicted Charles Castle, 57, on 17 charges:

*Seven counts of kidnapping
*Three counts of tampering with evidence
*One count of rape
*One count of felonious assault
*One count of endangering children
*One count of burglary
*One count of attempted aggravated murder
*One count of breaking and entering
*One count of possessing criminal tools

Officials said the girl was taken from her Hardin County home in the middle of the night and was found alive days later in an abandoned home.

Hardin County Sheriff Keith Everhart said the sheriff's office got a tip about her possible whereabouts and deputies followed up on the top and found her in an abandoned home near County Road 180.

The tip from a school resource officer and surveillance video from neighbors helped deputies identify Castle as the suspect. He was arrested and initially charged with kidnapping.

Officials said there is no familial connection between Castle and the girl, but said he was "familiar" to the family.

Castle remains in the Marion Multi-County Jail.

COLUMBUS, Ohio (ABC13) - A man fatally shot his 16-year-old daughter in the family's Columbus home after he mistook her for an intruder, according to what the girl's mother told police.

The mother called 911 after the shooting around early Wednesday morning and said the father had shot at someone after the security system was activated, authorities said.

ABC affiliate WSYX-TV reported that police documents said Hairston's father thought she was someone breaking into the house.

In a recording of the 911 call, the father asks his daughter what she was doing, and both parents beg for the girl, Janae Hairston, to wake up.

Police arrived on the scene around 4:28 a.m. and Hairston was transported to Mount Carmel East Hospital in critical condition, the Columbus Police Department said. She was pronounced dead at 5:42 a.m., according to investigators.

The Columbus Police Department couldn't immediately provide more details, but have referred the matter to the Franklin County Prosecutor's office for review.

As of Thursday morning, no criminal charges have been filed.

PHILADELPHIA (AP) — Two gunmen fired more than 65 rounds on a Philadelphia street, sending nighttime pedestrians on a busy block teeming with markets and restaurants scrambling for cover & injuring 6 people, at least 1 of them critically.

Police responded around 11:30 p.m. Thursday in the Germantown neighborhood & found a 21-year-old woman shot multiple times in the abdomen & chest & lying near dozens of spent casings. Officers rushed her to the hospital, where she was in critical condition Friday.

Five men ages 19 to 29 were taken with gunshot wounds by private vehicles to two hospitals. All were expected to survive.

Officers are looking at surveillance footage, Chief Inspector Scott Small told reporters late Thursday.

The injured woman, who suffered the most gunshot wounds, may have been the intended target, Small said. But the extensive crime scene — with a sea of casings on Germantown Avenue & bullets from at least two different-caliber semiautomatic weapons striking parked cars — made it difficult to be certain.

“The fact that we found over 65 spent shell casings — that’s a whole lot of shots fired — so it’s hard to even say who is the intended target & who is struck by stray gunfire,” Small said.

A Philadelphia city website tracking shooting victims & homicides showed that as of Tuesday, there were 1,827 nonfatal shooting victims in 2021, an increase of more than 600 from pre-pandemic levels in 2019.

Philadelphia police showed 559 homicides going into the last day of 2021, the most recorded since the city began tracking in 1960.

Beloved actress, comedian and American icon Betty White has died, just weeks before a milestone birthday ... TMZ has learned.

Law enforcement sources tell TMZ ... Betty passed away at her home Friday morning.

A trailblazer and pioneer in media, Betty had the longest running career for any woman in TV prior to her death -- starring in multiple shows over the past 8 decades, starting way back in 1939.

Betty is perhaps most famous for her lead role as Rose Nylund in "The Golden Girls," which ran from 1985 to 1992. She'd been in TONS of other big hits throughout her life though.

Betty got her start in radio in the '40s, making appearances on "Blondie," "The Great Gildersleeve," and "This is Your FBI." She eventually got her own radio program. In 1949, she began working on a TV variety show with Al Jarvis called "Hollywood on Television" -- which she later co-hosted -- before breaking out into more TV roles.

Her breakout comedic role came in 1973 when she played Sue Ann Nivens on "The Mary Tyler Moore Show" ... which ran until 1977, and then she got her starring role in "The Betty White Show."

With 115 acting credits to her name, Betty had roles in productions like "Life with Elizabeth," "Date with the Angels," "The Love Boat," "Mama's Family," "The Golden Palace," "Ladies Man," "That '70s Show," "Higglytown Heroes," "Boston Legal," "The Bold and the Beautiful," "Pound Puppies," "Hot in Cleveland," and many, many, many other shows and films.

She's won 5 Primetime Emmy Awards -- including 2 for 'Mary Tyler Moore,' 1 for "Golden Girls" and 1 for her 1975 'SNL' appearance -- along with Screen Actors Guild Awards, American Comedy Awards and even a 2012 Grammy.

She's been nominated for several Golden Globes and has also been honored with lots of Lifetime Achievement Awards and celebrations through several organizations.

Betty had been extra cautious during the pandemic, mostly chilling at home and passing the time by reading, watching TV and doing crossword puzzles.

Betty was 99 and she was getting set to celebrate her 100th birthday on January 17.

In the wee hours of the morning, former University of Las Vegas women’s basketball player Dylan Gonzalez put Trey Songz on full blast in a straight forward tweet, accusing the “I Invented Sex” singer of rape. 

Just half past midnight on Dec. 31, the disturbing tweet began to make its rounds almost to nobody’s surprise. As this isn’t the first, second or third time the “Can’t Help But Wait” crooner has been accused of physical or sexual violence against women. According to Twitter comments & responses to Gonzalez’s post, where there’s smoke there is fire.

As several social media users have mentioned, Keke Palmer claimed Trey Songz behaved sexually creepy & intimated her to the point she had to run and hide. Katrina Stephans accused Songz of allegedly attempting to urinate on her.

MADAMENOIRE reported on Dec. 22, that a woman named Juahara Jeffers filed a $20 million lawsuit against the 37-year-old artist born Tremaine Neverson. Court documents in the case state Jeffers was sexually assaulted by Songz while attending a New Years Eve party at Sean “Diddy” Combs’ Miami residence.

On Nov. 28, an unidentified woman filed a police report in Las Vegas, alleging Songz—who was in town to celebrate his birthday weekend & perform at Drai’s nightclub—sexually assaulted her at the Cosmopolitan Hotel and Casino. The case is currently under investigation and it has not been confirmed whether or not the anonymous woman happens to be Gonzalez. The Drip Doctor, which Gonzalez is also known as on Instagram, rose to athletic fame playing basketball, more recently college hoops for the UNLV Rebels alongside her twin sister Dakota. In September, the Gonzalez twins signed to the New Orleans Gators, Percy “Master P” Miller’s team which is part of a global mixed gender league, according to GMGB. Gonzalez is also an aspiring music artist.

Detectives working to find out who killed Drakeo the Ruler are fighting an uphill battle, finding it hard to get anyone who may have info on the suspect to come forward and talk ... TMZ has learned.

Law enforcement sources tell TMZ ... investigators are mostly relying on surveillance and cellphone footage to crack the case. As we reported, he was stabbed in the neck backstage at the Once Upon A Time in L.A. festival on Dec. 18.

Our sources say detectives attempting to chat with witnesses to the scuffle ... but they're not talking, which makes it hard/next to impossible to nab the culprits.

Detectives are starting to go another route -- looking to see if the Slim 400 murder might be connected to Drakeo the Ruler's demise.

As we reported, there's a lot of tension between gangs in the City of Angels as of late, so cops are well aware of the chance for retaliation.

Nothing's been made public to connect the Drakeo and Slim murders -- but our sources say cops aren't ruling it out.

Snoop Dogg, Ice Cube and 50 Cent were among the acts set to perform at the festival where Drakeo was killed ... Snoop posted a heartfelt message, saying, "My prayers go out to everyone affected by the tragedy. Please take care, love one another and stay safe y'all."

He ended with, "IM PRAYING FOR PEACE IN HIP HOP."

Drakeo was 28.

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — A member of the jury that convicted Minnesota police officer Kim Potter of manslaughter in the killing of Daunte Wright says jurors felt she made an honest mistake when she drew her firearm instead of her stun gun, but that she was still responsible for his death.

The juror spoke with KARE-TV reporter Lou Raguse on the condition of anonymity due to what the station described as the “public animosity” surrounding the case. It published the story Wednesday.

The juror said no one felt Potter was a racist or meant to kill Wright, but that doesn’t mean she was above the law.

“I don’t want to speak for all the jurors, but I think we believed she was a good person & even believed she was a good cop,” the juror said. “No one felt she was intentional in this. It’s ludicrous that some people are assuming we thought she was a racist. That never came up or anything like that. We felt like she was a good person, we felt she made a mistake, and that a mistake does not absolve you from the fact she did commit a crime.

“Being a good person doesn’t mean you’re above the law. I don’t think anyone felt she wanted to kill anybody that day. ... This was just a tragedy all the way around.”

Potter shot & killed the 20-year-old Wright in April as he tried to drive away from a traffic stop in Brooklyn Center, a Minneapolis suburb.

Quavo & his crew beat the crap out of a Sin City limo driver ... all because the driver forgot to pick up someone in their group -- this according to a new lawsuit.

The Migos rapper is being sued by the limo driver, who claims the alleged beatdown went down July 3 in Vegas.

According to the suit, obtained by TMZ, the driver claims he was hired to take the Migos & their group from a local club to the Virgin Hotel ... but he says things went south when the passengers started yelling at him about leaving behind a member of their party.

In the docs, the limo driver tried reasoning with his passengers but was told, "shut the f*** up" & then someone chucked a bottle at him.

The driver claims it escalated, with as many as 5 of the passengers attacking him unprovoked ... repeatedly punching & kicking him, leaving him riddled with injuries.

According to the suit, the driver claims hotel staff & security had a front-row seat to the alleged beatdown ... but instead of stepping in to stop the fight, they fled for safety inside the hotel.

The limo driver claims the attack left him suffering physical & mental pain & even disfigurement & he's going after Quavo, Migos Touring & the hotel for unspecified damages.
