Lil Wayne's life revolves around a daily regime of "SportsCenter," studio time and sweets. But on Tuesday (February 9), the Cash Money lyricist will be formally sentenced to prison after he struck a plea deal with Manhattan prosecutors stemming from a 2007 arrest in New York on gun charges. After he officially enters his plea, the rapper is expected to then turn himself in immediately to begin a one-year jail sentence.

Not since 2Pac has an MC been as accomplished and relevant yet faced an impending prison term at the height of his career. But will the lithe New Orleans rapper survive the daunting conditions at the notorious Rikers Island facility?

"Lil Wayne is gonna be OK," retired NYPD detective and noted "hip-hop cop" Derrick Parker told MTV News. "While he's in jail, it's a matter of fact they may not put him with the general population because of who he is and his popularity. They might lock him down and let him come out with a supervisor and stuff like that [when he's] in the main area — but he's definitely going to be treated differently."

According to Parker, the way Wayne will be handled is due to safety concerns for him, of course, but also to ensure as much normalcy as the facility possibly can — it won't resemble pampered treatment by any means. Parker said despite Wayne's small physical stature and his propensity to signal a particular gang affiliation in his rhymes, the rapper won't have much to fear in terms of extortion, bullying or worse.

Parker compared Wayne to former New York Giants football player Plaxico Burress, another celebrity who was convicted on gun charges in New York. However, Wayne could be better prepared for life behind bars — Burress hired a jail coach to assist him with acclimating to prison, something Wayne wouldn't even consider.

"Wayne is from the streets, from the Magnolia Houses in New Orleans, so I'm sure those guys have been in jail or locked up at some point," Parker said. "So being in prison is no big deal to them. Plaxico isn't built for that — he's the type of guy that's never been locked up like that before. He's gonna need a coach or someone to tell him what to expect, since he's not used to that."

But what exactly can Wayne expect? Fortunately, he won't have to cut his trademark tresses.

"The days of doing that are over," retired corrections officer Charles Reid told MTV News. "They can't make inmates do that anymore — it's within their rights to maintain any kind of hairstyle."

Wayne will have a few comforts of home while he's away. He will be able to watch network television — not cable, however. And he'll be able to watch DVD movies. He told Rolling Stone recently he plans to take an iPod in with him assist with writing music, but a source close to the prison facility told MTV News that would not be allowed.

Reid, who worked at Rikers Island for 21 years as an officer and an investigator, said Wayne's days would continue to be regimented, but in a much different way. He suggested the rapper may have to succumb to some work conditions, whether in sanitation or the mess hall, for example. Reid also noted that different wings of the prison carry different types of criminals, but guessed that Wayne would be housed in a dormitory area and not even be confined to a cell.

"Like a hospital, where there's maybe 20 to 25 beds in an open ward, or it maybe bunk beds," Reid said of Wayne's possible lodgings. "Where he has a nightstand to keep his personal belongings."

Due to the short nature of Wayne's sentence — one year, which could mean 10 months, including the possibly of early release after serving 80 percent of good time, possibly putting him back onstage in a little as eight months — the rapper could very well spend his entire term at Rikers Island.

It won't be known for sure if Wayne will be transferred upstate until he enters the New York corrections system and is processed. (A representative for the Corrections Department did not return several inquiries made by MTV as of press time.)

"I think he's gonna go in there and do his time and do it quietly," Parker said. "If he does it with good behavior, that will be a plus for him — then he'll be out and putting out a new album."

Leona Lewis says people who wear fur make her "sick".

The vegetarian singer - who is a public supporter of PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals) - thinks it is disgusting the way the fashion and music worlds still embrace clothing made from animal pelts and the apparent resurgence in the popularity of fur.

Leona - who doesn't wear suede, leather or other animal products - said: "I think animals are treated very poorly. When I see people wearing fur it makes me so sick. Especially when I see young singers doing it - that sickens me. When I rocked up to my first photo shoot they had feathers and fur there and everything In despise. I had to make it so clear that I just do not go there."

Leona, 24, is also angry at the way young women are made to feel as though they should constantly be dieting and should look a certain way.

The pop beauty - who shot to fame after winning Simon Cowell's UK TV talent show 'The X Factor' in 2006 - added to Live magazine: "There is definitely pressure to be a stick insect. Generally, in life, there is. All the magazines have tiny stick insects on their covers. But no one has ever said that to me. Everyone says I've lost weight but I don't see it. It's just eating healthily."

Brookyln's own Jay-Z has become quite a fan of Susan Boyle.

He thinks the Scottish singer could be quite successful if she were to launch a fashion line.

The rapper is quoted by OneIndia as saying “Boyle will appeal to women of a certain age. She is an ordinary person, who could make the best of herself

He could be onto something. Judging by the success of her debut album 'I Dreamed A Dream' which has sold more than 3 million copies worldwide the 48 year old singer definitely has a large audience.

MIAMI - The New Orleans Saints stymied Peyton Manning, then intercepted him to seal the Super Bowl, rallying to beat the Indianapolis Colts 31-17 Sunday night.

Tracy Porter intercepted a pass from Manning — of all people — and sprinted 74 yards for a touchdown and a 31-17 lead with 3:12 left. Playing in the Super Bowl for the first time, the Saints went on a 31-7 run after falling behind 10-0 early.

MVP Drew Brees went 32 for 39 for 288 yards for the Saints, tying Tom Brady’s Super Bowl record for completions.

Brees went 7 for 7 on the drive that put New Orleans ahead to stay, with the score coming on a 2-yard touchdown pass to Jeremy Shockey.

Manning’s interception was the game’s lone turnover, and he was rolled to the turf trying in vain to tackle Porter.

One of the supposed leaders of the Republican Party apparently can't remember the answers to easy pre-scripted questions without cheating.

At The Tea Party Convention in which she was reportedly paid $100,000 to deliver a speech. Sarah Palin flamed out when it came to the Q&A session.

Sarah was asked a simple question. "What are your top 3 priorities?". By the time she got to # 2 she needed to look at her hand for the answers scribbled there, lol.

Off the heels of his Grammy performance of “Forever” with Eminem, Lil Wayne, Drake and Travis Barker, XXLMag had the chance to chop it up with The Alchemist about Em’s highly anticipated new disc, Relapse 2.

While the disc does not have a release date as of press time, ALC says Em is hard at work in the studio with DJ Khalil. The West Coast beatsmith has had a big year, producing standout joints for Drake (“Fear”), Clipse (“Kinda Like a Big Deal”) and Slaughterhouse (“Cuckoo”).

Khalil—who I think is like the best producer right now to me—he had been sending records to Em for a while that wasn’t like, they weren’t like clicking in,” Alchemist told XXL. “Em knew he was dope but they haven’t found the right one. And I think they found a couple joints now… the joints they have are crazy. I can’t say 100 percent [that he made the album], but I have heard at least two joints Khalil did and they’re fuckin’ stupid.”

Al, who serves as the Detroit lyricist’s tour DJ, revealed that he has yet to score a beat on Em’s project. “I’m starting to be around Em and the camp more,” he said, “especially finishing these albums. Factor in Em’s sober now, it’s like that’s my man, we chop it up a lot more now…it’s like little by little I’m figuring out what I have to do to create a sound that would be Alchemist/Eminem. I didn’t get it yet.

One person that Em has been working a lot with is Just Blaze. Al gave XXL insight into their chemistry: “He clicked with Em,” he said. “It was really amazing, too. They really vibed and made some music, beyond like Just just sending him beats, it was nothing like that…I think it’s a perfect meshing of the two…If you could imagine what they could bring to the table at this point, it’s pretty close and maybe a little more.”

In fact, in ALC’s opinion, the whole album is a level above the first Relapse. “He’s doing things lyrically on this album that he hasn’t done before,” he shared. “The punchline game is really back.”

LAS VEGAS -- It was never in doubt.

In a battle between beloved hall of famers, Randy Couture reigned supreme, as he submitted Mark Coleman with a second-round rear-naked choke in the UFC 109 "Relentless" headliner on Saturday at the Mandalay Bay Events Center.

Drifting briefly into a state of unconsciousness, Coleman went out on his sword 69 seconds into Round 2.

The incomparable Couture set the tone with his boxing but deftly moved to the clinch midway through the opening round, pressed Coleman against the cage and went to work with his patented dirty boxing. A dejected Coleman, 45, retreated to his corner after a lopsided period. He had no answers and seemed to know it. Reality bit.

Couture rocked Coleman with a left hook in tight in the third round, pushed again into the clinch and took down the former Olympian with surprising ease. From there, the two-division champion flurried on "The Godfather of Ground-and-Pound," seized back control and cinched the choke for the victory, his second in a row since his return to the light heavyweight division.

"I'm having a blast," said the 46-year-old Couture. "I feel like I'm improving each and every time I get out here. This is my third fight in seven months, and it feels good to be so active."

Coleman is 1-2 in the UFC since returning after a decade-long departure.

"Wow, the guy's tough," he said of Couture. "The guy's real tough. I don't know what the hell happened. I'm disappointed. I think I can do better. I won't quit. I'll be back."

But I just finished up 15 more chapters, [and] before I start releasing this stuff... I need to know if this is what you want from me. Y'all let me know, 'cos I'm ready."

Former NFL star Warren Sapp was arrested by Miami Beach police this afternoon and charged with misdemeanor domestic battery stemming from an allegedly violent confrontation with his girlfriend.

According to the Miami Beach Police Department, Sapp is accused of attacking his girlfriend of two years at around 5:00 AM Saturday at the Shore Club Hotel.

According to the arrest report, the alleged victim had "a swollen right knee and bruises on the back of her neck."

She claims Sapp allowed her to sleep in his hotel room -- then came into the room early in the morning and pulled her out of bed. The alleged victim says they began arguing about guys she was hanging out with earlier Friday night.

Sapp's girlfriend told cops that during the argument Sapp "grabbed her and began to choke her." He eventually threw her out of the room, she claims.

When cops spoke to Sapp, he told them he had allowed the woman to stay in his room -- but later on decided he wanted her to leave because "he was expecting company." He told police he was trying to help her and she fell.

Sapp is in Miami for the Super Bowl and serves as an analyst for the NFL Network and on Showtime's "Inside the NFL."

The NFL Network released a statement saying they were aware of the incident and that Sapp will not appear on the NFL Network until they review the matter.

Sapp is scheduled to co-host an event at BED Miami tonight. They tell us they haven't heard about the incident and, as of now, everything is still a go.

Hip-Hop star Nelly has joined with DUB Edition magazine and Ford to create his very own limited edition 2011 Ford Mustang GT.

The vehicle was modified to adhere to Nelly’s personal style. It features a black gloss exterior paint job, 22-24 inch rims, Pirelli tires, and black racing stripes.

Inside, the DUB edition car offers leather trim and a JL Audio system equipped with two 12-inch subwoofers, rear headrests, a message center, integrated blind spot mirrors, and a programmable vehicle key.

The idea came to the St. Louis native last year while visiting the Ford’s design studio as part of a collaboration for the launch of Funkmaster Flex’s Ford Flex. His goal was to create a vehicle that was an amalgamation of muscle car tradition and modern style.

I don’t care where you grew up, everyone knows the Mustang,” Nelly explained. “At some point, you’ve had a conversation about a Mustang, and it was probably one about you wanting to get behind the wheel of one. I’ve always loved the Mustang; the vehicle has power to the point where you can’t help but want to hit the pedal. And the newest one? More power, more style.”

Nelly’s Ford Mustang GT has a new 5.0 liter V-8 engine, which gives 412 horsepower and 390 ft.-lbs of torque.

The car is scheduled to be displayed prominently on the cover of the rapper’s next album.

I’m itching to get behind the wheel of my Mustang and really take it out on the streets,” Nelly said. “This vehicle being a part of my album artwork is just a reflection of the direction and feel the album has. To be able to partner with Ford again on another vehicle that is going to change the automotive game is exciting.”

At press time, Nelly’s DUB Edition Mustang GT is scheduled to debut this Spring.

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. -- All-time greats Jerry Rice and Emmitt Smith led a class of seven into the Pro Football Hall of Fame on Saturday.

The NFL's career receiving and rushing leaders were joined in the Hall by John Randle, Russ Grimm, Rickey Jackson, Floyd Little and Dick LeBeau. Little and LeBeau were elected as senior committee nominees.

"I am just honored ... to stand up there with greatness," Rice added before breaking down in tears.

Rice and Smith both made it in their first year of eligibility. They were elected a day before the Super Bowl, a game they each won three times.

"This is almost perfect," Smith said. "I don't think even Steven Spielberg could have written a script this nice."

They will be inducted into the Canton, Ohio, shrine on Aug. 7.

Nobody could stop Rice, the league's top pass catcher and all-time touchdowns leader, when he played for San Francisco, Oakland and Seattle. Rice made 1,549 catches for 22,895 yards, had 14 1,000-yard seasons and scored 208 touchdowns.

Nor could they handle Smith, who rushed for 18,355 yards and 164 touchdowns for Dallas and Arizona. Like Rice, he won an MVP award in the NFL's championship game.

And no one could deny them immediate entry into the Hall. A nominee needs 80 percent approval from the 44 media members who vote and they were slam-dunks.

"We were rewarded on this day and the both of us get the chance to do what we want to do," Smith said.

"It's just like playing in that big game, this is something you think about, and it is happening. I never thought I would go in .... with this guy here," Rice added about Smith.

Steve Young, one of two Hall of Fame quarterbacks who threw to Rice, got the first hug from the new Canton member, then said: "They made yards after the catch a stat because of Jerry Rice."

Two other all-time top receivers, Cris Carter and Tim Brown, were not elected. Carter, in his third year of eligibility, stands third in career receptions with 1,101, while Brown, in his first year on the ballot, made 1,094.

Jackson, a do-everything linebacker with a great burst off the line, finished his 15-season career for New Orleans and San Francisco with 128 sacks. A six-time Pro Bowler, Jackson sparked the first turnaround by the Saints from Aints to contender, in the late 1980s. He helped the Saints to their first division title and playoff berth.

Now, a day before the Saints appear in their first Super Bowl against the Indianapolis Colts, Jackson is Canton-bound.

Jackson, however, was introduced as Randy instead of Rickey -- a bad omen for the Saints?

Randle was that rare defensive tackle who was a premier pass rusher. An undrafted free agent out of Texas A&I, Randle had 137½ sacks for Minnesota and Seattle, tied for sixth overall, and led the league with 15½ in 1997. He played in seven Pro Bowls.

Grimm, a member of the Washington Redskins' famed Hogs offensive line, won three Super Bowls. A guard, he made four Pro Bowls and was selected to the all-decade team of the 1980s.

The two senior committee inductees did not get enough support from the regular panel of media members when they were eligible.

LeBeau, the current defensive coordinator of the Pittsburgh Steelers, is considered one of pro football's great defensive innovators as a coach. But he was voted in for his outstanding work for the Lions from 1959-72. LeBeau finished with 62 interceptions, second among cornerbacks when he retired.

"I would like to congratulate Dick on his election to the Pro Football Hall of Fame," Steelers president Art Rooney II said. "Few men in the history of the NFL have contributed more to the league as a player and coach than Dick LeBeau during his 51 years in the league."

Little starred for the Denver Broncos in the AFL and NFL, leading the NFL in rushing in 1971 with 1,133 yards and in touchdowns rushing in 1973 with 12. He waited 30 years to get elected.

"My dad used to take me to games to watch Jerry play," Little joked, cracking up Rice.

"It's been a long journey. This is truly my dream. You can't explain the emotions of the way you feel at this moment."

Nicki Minaj, Lil Wayne's Young Money First Lady, is definitely buzzing in the music biz. As of late, she's been making her rounds on TV, performing alongside Robin Thicke for his single, "Shakin' It 4 Daddy."

While she definitely appreciative to Thicke for the guest spot, Nicki should probably send Jay-Z a thanks as well, because he's the one that recommended her to the singer.

Thicke told MTV weeks ago that after playing a rough version of track for Jay, he told him he needs to get Nicki to jump on it stat!

"It was Jay's idea," Thicke told MTV of the "Shakin' It 4 Daddy" collabo. "We were in the studio and I played him the whole album. He was like, 'You should get Nicki Minaj on that. She's got that voice. She's got that swag.' So I leaned over and was like, 'Somebody get Nicki Minaj on the phone! Jay-Z said so!' Next thing you know, we called Nicki. She was excited.

"Once we told her it was Jay-Z's idea to get her on the track, she started screaming on the phone," he added. "She was all excited. She's a super, super talent. I can't wait to do a video with Nicki. There's a power in her. It's not just that she's sexy and that's the only way she can get you to like her. She's got charm -- not just sex. Some women may use sex to get what they want; others have charm. She's got charm."

MTV recently tracked down Nicki to see how she felt regarding the referral from Jay. She said she was filled with joy.

"I cannot put into words how I felt when he told me that," the female rapper said. "I was like, 'What?'

"I didn't think he knew who I was, let alone recommend me for something," Nicki continued. "If he did know who I was, I didn't know if he liked my style or approved. It was weird. It was like getting that stamp of approval from the most popular jock in high school and being a freshman in high school and thinking no one knows you exist."

At press time, it was unknown when Robin Thicke would be shooting a video for the "Shakin' It 4 Daddy" single.
