Emerging rap artist Lil Phat has been killed in Atlanta. The Atlanta Journal Constitution is reporting that Phat, real name Melvin Vernell III, was found shot multiple times in a car parked in a parking garage next to the Northside Hospital Women’s Center at 6:40 pm on Thursday.
The 19-year old was transferred to nearby Northside Hospital, where he was pronounced dead a short time later.
Police say "two black males were seen running from the location at the time of the shooting."
Phat was signed to Trill Entertainment, which is also home to Lil Boosie, Webbie, Foxx, Shell and others.
Webbie tweeted about the loss of his friend and label mate early this morning.

Lauryn Hill is in serious trouble with the Internal Revenue Service. In charges filed in a New Jersey Federal Court, the former Fugees singer is accused of not paying taxes in the years 2005, 2006 and 2007. According to a report by TMZ, Hill earned more than $1.8 million during those years.
If found guilty of the charges Hill could face up to three years in prison and a $300,000fine.
She is scheduled to appear in court on June 29.
