MONTEREY PARK, Calif. (AP) — The hunt for a gunman who killed 10 people at a ballroom dance club during Lunar New Year celebrations ended Sunday when authorities found him dead of a self-inflicted gunshot wound in the van he used to flee after people thwarted his attempt at a second shooting.
Los Angeles County Sheriff Robert Luna identified the man as 72-year-old Huu Can Tran and said no other suspects were at large. Speaking at an evening news conference, he added that the motive remained unclear for the attack, which wounded 10 more.
Luna did not have the exact ages of the victims but said they all appeared to be over 50. Seven of the wounded people remained in the hospital, he said.
The sheriff added that the suspect was carrying what he described as a semi-automatic pistol with an extended magazine, and a second handgun was discovered in the van where Tran was found dead.
The shooting late Saturday in the predominantly Asian American community of Monterey Park cast a shadow over the New Years festivities and sent a wave of fear through Asian American communities in the Los Angeles area. Other cities sent extra officers to watch over the celebrations.

MONTEREY PARK, Calif. (AP) — A gunman opened fire at a Los Angeles-area ballroom dance studio following a Lunar New Year celebration, killing 10 people & setting off a manhunt for the suspect in the nation’s fifth mass killing this month.
Another 10 people were wounded & were taken to hospitals, where their conditions ranged from stable to critical. Capt. Andrew Meyer of the Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department said Sunday.
The shooting occurred at Star Ballroom Dance Studio late Saturday in Monterey Park. A city that is composed mostly of Asian immigrants from China or first-generation Asian Americans.
Meyer gave no description of the male suspect or the weapon he used.
He said it was too early in the investigation to know if the gunman knew anyone at the ballroom or if it was a hate crime.
“We will look at every angle,” Meyer said.
The celebration in Monterey Park is one of California’s largest & had attracted tens of thousands throughout the day.
Two days of festivities, which have been attended by as many as 100,000 people in past years, were planned. But officials canceled Sunday’s events following the shooting.
The tragedy marked not just the fifth mass killing in the U.S. since the start of the year but also the deadliest since May 24, when 21 people were killed in a school in Uvalde, Texas.
The latest violence comes 2 months after 5 people were killed at a Colorado Springs nightclub.

CNN — “Avengers” star Jeremy Renner says he broke more than 30 bones in the New Year’s Day snowplow accident that sent him to the hospital for more than 2 weeks.
Renner, who plays superhero archer Hawkeye in the Marvel movie & TV “Universe,” posted a photo on Instagram with a caption that read:
“Morning workouts, resolutions all changed this particular new years …. Spawned from tragedy for my entire family & quickly focused into uniting actionable love. I want to thank EVERYONE for their messages and thoughtfulness for my family and I …. Much love and appreciation to you all. These 30 plus broken bones will mend , grow stronger, just like the love and bond with family and friends deepens . Love and blessings to you all.”
Renner turned 52 in the hospital. He was injured by a 14,330 pound snowplow while clearing a driveway near his Nevada home, leaving him with “blunt chest trauma and orthopedic injuries.”
He underwent & surgeries & was treated in the intensive care unit.
Monday night, the “Mayor of Kingstown” star replied to a Twitter post from the show, writing, “Outside my brain fog in recovery, I was very excited to watch episode 201 with my family at home.”
A 911 call log obtained by CNN says Renner was “completely crushed under a large snowcat (vehicle)” and that he had “extreme (difficulty) breathing.” It goes on to read that, “the right side of his chest is collapsed – upper torso is crushed.”
Renner’s snowcat, an engine-powered machine used to clear snow, started to roll away while Renner was off the driver’s seat.

Lil Meech, the star of 50 Cent's "BMF" TV series, is off the hook in his Florida gun possession case & TMZ has learned it was all just a mix-up involving luggage.
Meech was arrested in December at Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport after TSA agents spotted a 9MM in a carry-on bag he put through the security scanner.
Turns out the bag & firearm belonged to Meech's bodyguard, who was with the actor & told cops the gun was his. But, police ignored the bodyguard & busted Meech, accusing him of illegally carrying.
Meech's attorney, Bradford Cohen, says he presented indisputable evidence to Broward County prosecutors that proved the bodyguard owned the pistol, including the purchase receipt, gun case & permit for the firearm.
Meech & the bodyguard share the same taste in luggage. As a result, Meech accidentally picked up the bodyguard's carry-on while they were rushing to catch a flight & Meech's actual bag was accidentally left behind.
The Broward County State Attorney's Office confirmed to TMZ ... prosecutors declined to file a misdemeanor charge against Meech "because of the facts & evidence available in the case & the statements made by [Lil Meech] & his employee."

ABOUT
An International Reggae Artist, Max Suavo grew up in Kingston, Jamaica and began his singing debut as lead singer of the teen group The Classique’s. The group entertained local Jamaicans by performing mainly cover songs by Denis Brown, Bob Marley, Barrington Levy, Ini Kamoze, Lionel Richie, Kool and the Gang, Air Supply and others.

In this clip, Vlad asked Tony Yayo about wearing a Yarmulke in Israel, which led to Tony speaking about his trip. Tony explained that it was one of the best experiences of his life because it showed him a different side of religion. Tony also spoke about “Jew Unit,” the Jewish people associated with G-Unit, and Tony explained that he’s used to being around a diverse group of people in New York. Vlad then asked Tony about his thoughts on Kanye’s comments on Jewish people, and Tony explained that’s why Uncle Murda was going at him in his year-end rap up.
