Growing up in New Orleans, SK had the opportunity
to witness some of the greats including rappers
like Lil Wayne and Master P. Now he’s crafting
his own lane. The rapper's first album GENTRILLY,
debuted in 2018. After accumulating some major
success, he’s preparing for his October
release of California Lifestyle.

Before moving out west, much of David’s life was
spent growing up in the Gentilly neighborhood
located between the 7th and 8th ward of New
Orleans. Although music was flourishing in
the city, it wasn’t always the safest place
to live — at the time, some were referring
to the city as “The Murder Capital”.

In 2005, Hurricane Katrina forced SK and his
family to leave everything behind. Although
he didn’t know it at the time, the tragedy
would bring him closer to music. While
moving between states the rapper found
himself listening intently to artists
like Boosie, Lil Wayne, and Curren$y.

“Each state had influenced the music that I
listened too, a lot of people don’t realize
this but back then Soulja Boy
was huge in Mississippi. ”

Each of those experiences formed SK into the
man and rapper that he is today. The diverse
cultures and styles that he witnessed eventually
made their way into his music. SK has a variety of
different tones that he uses when making a track.
This includes his deeper speaking voice, a lighter
singing voice, and autotune effects.

“The idea for switching up the flows and the
voices came from my early performances. Back
in High school my friends and I were well known
for throwing some of the biggest parties in New
Orleans. I’d get up on the stage and just rap,
people loved it, especially when I would switch
my flow on each beat. ”

After finishing his senior year, SK received
a full-ride academic scholarship to Louisiana
State University. In between his advertising
classes, he studied up on music and
entrepreneurship allowing him to
launch his first album under his
very own record label.

GENTRILLY, the album and Generation Trill, the
label are both named in honor of his Louisiana
upbringing. Through every phase in life, David
has always found ways to keep home close.

“Even as I evolve, I will never forget where I’m from.”

California Lifestyle, will be a sonic representation
of his evolution from the Gentilly streets to LA
penthouses, and while fans wait David plans to
drop visuals and singles alike.

The debate between so-called old heads and young artists has gone on for years, with little to no resolution. What happens when the two sides stop debating, and start working together? The answer is Dub City.

Hailing from East Orange, NJ, Dub City has been groomed by a few of the most seasoned veterans in the entertainment industry. In addition to being mentored by Bonecrusher (“Never Scared”), the current Atlanta resident is signed to N Genius—the label co-owned by the legendary DJ Hurricane and industry veteran Street Lotto. Bridging the gap between the pioneers and the new school, isn’t easy, but Dub City is up for the task.

Either directly or indirectly, Dub has always been influenced by legends. Like many would be artists, he came up listening to greats like the late, great Tupac Shakur and Jay-Z, but their words hit differently for Dub than they did for the average person. “Jay turned his problems and accomplishments into songs,” says Dub City. “The way he put his words together made me wonder if I could do the same thing. So that's when I tried it myself.”

Although he always had a way with words, it wasn’t until Dub’s circle encouraged him to record the slick wordplay that he’d been putting to paper that he actually developed a love for music. “When I was first doing it, I was just writing bars, but when I first started learning from the artists who came before me, how to compose songs and make records it led to me being able to define myself as an artist, says Dub.”

Who Dub is as an artist is as much rooted in his creative process as it is in his journey and all of it is displayed in his music. He even shares personal stories that most artists shy away from.

“I was a doorstop baby. My adopted mom saw a headline in the Star Ledger newspaper about a baby left at the church's steps. That was me! She wrote a letter to the church and said she was interested in adopting the baby that was found,” recounts Dub. They contacted her back and met with her so she can start the process in getting me into her home. To me it was by the grace of God. I couldn't have asked for a more safe, secure, and stable household, but I always felt different for some reason and I didn't know why. I knew I  was adopted my whole life but didn't know the whole story until I was grown! When I saw the news article for the first time at the age of 26, it helped me to understand what I had been feeling my whole life. I'm here for a real reason.

Rather spitting about his rough childhood or spinning tales of how he left the streets behind to pursue rap full time, Dub’s lyrics paint a picture and it is that genuine honesty that separates him from the pack. You will always catch Dub City rocking that OOOG Brand.

Take a trip into Dub City’s world by listening to his current singles “ War Ready” and “ Non Stop”. The Newly entitled Album is called “Blackowned Business”.

In the final clip, Adrien Broner and DJ Vlad discuss the upcoming fight between Mike Tyson and Roy Jones Jr. When asked to make his pick, AB decided to stay neutral because both are two of his favorite fighters. Broner also stated that even though he plans on watching the fight, he doesn't think it's a good idea for Tyson and Jones due to their age and dangers of the sport. The clip concludes with Broner talking about his next album, "Still Adjusting to Fame," and wanting $10 million for his next fight.

(CNN) Minnesota Vikings quarterback Kirk Cousins is taking a controversial approach to Covid-19 for a man of his stature.

"If I die, I die," he said Wednesday during an interview on Spotify's "10 Questions With Kyle Brandt" podcast. On it, Cousins said he's taking a "survival of the fittest" approach to the pandemic.

"If I get it, I'm gonna ride it out," Cousins said. "I'm gonna let nature do its course. Survival-of-the-fittest kind of approach. And just say, if it knocks me out, it knocks me out. I'm going to be OK. You know, even if I die. If I die, I die. I kind of have peace about that."

Brandt asked Cousins his concern level on getting the virus, on a scale from 1-10, "1 is the person who says, 'Masks are stupid, you're all a bunch of lemmings' and 10 is, 'I'm not leaving my master bathroom for the next 10 years."

The quarterback replied, "I'm about a .000001."

"I want to respect what other people's concerns are," he said. "For me personally, just talking, no one else can get the virus. What is your concern if you could get it? I would say I'm gonna go about my daily life."

Cousins said his "opinion of wearing a mask is really about being respectful to other people. It really has nothing to do with my own personal thoughts."

The athlete's overall remarks go against some of the top doctors and infectious disease experts in the country, who have warned Americans to wear face masks and practice social distancing to prevent the the virus's spread. Already in the US, more than 6 million cases of the virus have been reported and more than 184,000 people have died -- making the US one of the hardest-hit countries in the world.

And the concept of "survival of the fittest" -- trumpeted by some hoping that the US might reach "herd immunity" at some point in the near future -- of course suggests that those who aren't fit don't survive. That would mean millions more dead Americans.

"Waiting for the virus to 'immunize' the population is a very Darwinian concept, survival of the fittest," Dr. William Schaffner, professor of infectious diseases at Vanderbilt University, told CNN in July after Sen. Rand Paul claimed that millions of people who have been infected by the virus were now essentially blocking its spread. "We generally try to avoid that in public health," said Schaffner.

Cousins and the Vikings are expected to begin their season late this month.

The team has already announced that it will not allow fans for the first two home games of the season due to the pandemic.

MELVILLE, N.Y. (AP) — Authorities are investigating a Long Island bar that posted on Instagram that it was taking bets on whether Chicago or New York City would see more shootings over Labor Day weekend.

The Cliffton, a bar in Patchogue, New York, shared photos of a paper grid hung in the bar with patrons placing bets on the number of shootings in the two cities, Newsday reported Tuesday. The winner would take home an unspecified cash prize.

The betting is “not only sickening, but also appears illegal under the Alcoholic Beverage Control law,” the State Liquor Authority said in a statement to the newspaper.

The state’s alcohol and beverage law prohibits gambling at establishments with a liquor license, with few exceptions.

The caption of the post read, “Let the shooting sprees begin!” the newspaper reported. The Cliffton’s Instagram page is private.

“These reports are repugnant and those responsible for this gambling pool should be ashamed,” Rich Azzopardi, a spokesman for Gov. Andrew Cuomo, said to the newspaper.

The Long Island bar also refused to let representatives of the State Liquor Authority conduct an inspection this week, the newspaper reported, which the agency says is itself grounds to revoke the bar’s liquor license.

Brian Neal, owner of The Cliffton, did not return a request for comment from the newspaper.

“All it does is raise the angst and anger of others,” Patchogue Mayor Paul Pontieri said. “To be buying a box to see how many people die is something I cannot fathom. It’s not who we are as a community.”

On Monday the music world was shocked by reports that A$AP Ferg had been kicked out of A$AP Mob.

A$AP Illz, the co-founder of the rap collective, made an announcement via his Instagram story that seemed to confirm the split.

“Ferg aint ASAP NO MORE sorry guys," Illz wrote. "That nigga burnt out, songs dumb trash Mr. Anthem can’t get right. Niggas be your mans to try to pick your brain and steal not to be loyal and real."

A$AP Bari later backed up what Illz said.

However, last night A$AP Nast offered a completely different take on the situation.

"THE TRAP LORD WAS NOT AND WILL NOT BE KICKED OUT OF A$AP FALSE NEWS EVERYBODY GO HOME NOW #ASAPFOREVER," Nast tweeted. "DISPUTES HAPPEN IN FAMILYS ALL OVER THE WORLD EVERYDAY B! ITS EXTREMELY EMBARRASSING AND UNNECESSARY FOR IT TO HAPPEN THE WAY IT DID BUT IT DID AND THIS WILL BE TAKEN CARE OF THE RIGHT WAY GOODNIGHT YALL."

Ferg has been one of the most commercially successful members of the group, alongside A$AP Rocky. Hopefully, all of this can be worked out behind closed doors.

The tributes to Chadwick Boseman keep pouring in, and the latest honor for the late "Black Panther" star is all about education.

Walter Mayfield, principal at T. L. Hanna High School in South Carolina where the actor attended, tells TMZ ... they're forming the Chadwick Boseman Memorial Scholarship for a yearly honor to a deserving student.

Mayfield says the goal is to create a sustainable scholarship for years to come, and the school is aiming to raise $100k toward that end. The principal says a bunch of people have already reached out about contributing in Chadwick's honor -- without even publicizing the idea yet -- so they're off to a good start.

We're told the school is trying to work with Boseman's family on the plan -- Mayfield feels it's essential they be involved to help formulate criteria for the award.

Chadwick's former H.S. basketball coach, Wayne Jones, is pushing for the school to retire the number he used to wear -- 32 -- in his memory.

He tells us the cinematic superhero was an all-around solid player on the court who played 4 years on the varsity squad ... and could do a little bit of everything. T. L. Hanna has never retired a number before, but Principal Mayfield says this is the time to consider it.

If the Boseman scholarship gets up and running, it will be the second one in honor of a T. L. Hanna legend ... the first is James "Radio" Kennedy. His scholarship goes to a student pursuing a career in special ed.

As we told you ... Chadwick's South Carolina hometown is also set to honor him soon.

Rihanna's still in love with Chris Brown ... and she probably always will be.

RiRi made the revelation to Oprah on her 'Supersoul Conversations' podcast nearly 12 years after Brown's brutal attack -- punching Rihanna and threatening to kill her during an argument in his car.

She told O ... she and Chris have been working on their friendship again and are now very, very close friends -- "We've built up a trust again, and that's ... we love each other and we probably always will." Rihanna added, "That's not something we're ever going to change. That's not something you can shut off, if you've ever been in love."

Rihanna -- who made news after following CB on Twitter back in 2011 -- also admitted that not long ago they also hung out while in St. Tropez after hitting up a mutual friend's party. She said her stomach turns when she sees him because, again, she still loves him.

CB opened up back in 2017 about that horrific night back ... revealing in his documentary, "Chris Brown: Welcome to My Life," he tasted blood on that night while also admitting there were MULTIPLE violent incidents during his relationship with Rihanna.

That's all behind them now, according to Rihanna, who said, "I truly love him. So, the main thing for me is that he's at peace. I'm not at peace if he's a little unhappy or he's still lonely."

Oprah also asked Rihanna if there's a chance she'll ever get back with CB ... and she seemed to be open about it saying, "He's in a relationship of his own. I'm single but we have maintained a very close friendship ever since the restraining order has been dropped. We've just worked on it, little by little, and it has not been easy. It's not easy."

Kamaru Usman vs. Gilbert Burns will happen in 2020 -- the welterweight title fight is officially set for UFC 256 on Dec. 12, TMZ Sports has learned.

The fight was originally supposed to go down on Fight Island back in July -- but Burns caught COVID and had to pull out.

He was replaced by Jorge Masvidal, who took the fight on short notice ... but couldn't overcome Usman, who won by unanimous decision.

Now, Burns has fully recovered -- and a UFC source tells us the papers are signed, the deal is done -- we're getting the fight!

Also, we're told the UFC is close to locking up the highly anticipated Nate Diaz vs. Jorge Masvidal rematch for the BMF belt for the same night!!!!

Remember, those two originally fought back in Nov. 2019 -- but the fight was stopped by the doctor in the 3rd round due to cuts over Nate's eye.

Diaz felt the stoppage was BS -- insisting he was just getting warmed up!

Now, we're told everything is close for a rematch at UFC 256 ... and yes, the plan is for the famous BMF belt to be on the line again!

Breonna Taylor's boyfriend is going after Louisville police for the allegedly botched raid at her home that left Breonna dead, claiming he's the victim of police misconduct ... and he didn't actually shoot one of the officers.

Kenneth Walker filed a civil lawsuit Tuesday, asking the judge for a declaration of immunity from prosecution in the criminal case for firing a single "warning shot" after cops rammed the door to enter Taylor's apartment in the middle of the night back in March while executing a search warrant.

As you know ... police claim Walker's shot struck Sgt. Jonathan Mattingly in the femoral artery in his thigh, but his legal team refutes that.

Walker's lawyers say evidence indicates that police may have shot Mattingly as they were "firing wildly from various angles."

According to the lawsuit ... Walker was interrogated by police after the shootings and was then wrongfully and illegally arrested, detained, charged and prosecuted.

Walker now wants to avail himself of Kentucky’s stand your ground law, which he claims operates to prevent law enforcement from prosecuting him after he fired the shot in self-defense. In other words, it seems the lawyer is saying Walker had a right to fire a shot under the stand your ground law, so he would therefore be immune from criminal prosecution.

According to the docs, he's specifically concerned about being hit with an attempted murder charge that was previously dropped without prejudice.

Taylor's boyfriend is also seeking damages for assault, battery, false arrest and imprisonment, malicious prosecution, abuse of process and negligence stemming from the incident.

As we've reported ... none of the officers involved in the raid and shooting of Taylor have been arrested, though one cop -- Brett Hankison -- has been fired.

KY Attorney General Daniel Cameron recently received a critical ballistics report about Breonna's death, but claimed it was inconclusive.
