A day after his death friends of Rodney King are questioning the story told to police about how he passed away. Two close friends of King have told police that his fiance Cynthia Kelley has altered her story a couple of times according to TMZ.

Kelley initially told police that she was awakened by King screaming in their backyard at 5 AM. Sunday morning. When she got to him, he was naked and banging on the glass window. Kelley says she then went to grab her phone, heard a big splash and found King at the bottom of the pool. At that point she called police. They responded to the scene and found King dead.

A source told TMZ that King's friends have heard Kelley tell the story several times, but it changed a bit each time and it seemed like she was lying about something.

King's friends have gone to the police with this information and were told a Detective would be in touch with them.

An autopsy and drowning investigation is pending.

MSNBC

Rodney King, the man whose videotaped beating by Los Angeles police officers in 1991 sparked some of the deadliest race riots in U.S.history, was found dead on Sunday, Reuters reported. He was 47.

King was found dead in a pool and there were no signs of foul play, Reuters reported, citing California police.

King was beaten by Los Angeles Police Department officers on March 3, 1991. A bystander videotaped much of the incident from a distance.

Violence broke out after a California jury acquitted three white and one Hispanic Los Angeles police officers in his beating.

The riots that erupted on April 29, 1992, were among the most lethal in U.S. history. By the time order was restored, 53 people had died, nearly 3,000 people were injured and thousands of businesses were damaged or destroyed.

Nearly a year later, a federal jury convicted two of the police officers of a federal charge of violating King’s civil rights and sentenced them to 30 months in prison. Two other officers were acquitted. King eventually received a $3.8 million settlement from the city, and the case led to sweeping changes in LAPD.

King had recently been promoting his just-published memoir, "The Riot Within: My Journey From Rebellion to Redemption."

This is a developing story. Check back for updates.

**UPDATE**

TMZ

Rodney King's fiancée is telling friends Rodney had been drinking all day Saturday ... and had smoked weed in the hours leading up to his death ... sources close to King tell TMZ.

According to our sources, King's fiancée, Cynthia Kelley, is telling friends King was at the house all day drinking, and he smoked marijuana at some point, before she went to bed at 2:00 AM.

We're told Kelley says she next saw King at around 5:00 AM when she was awoken by him screaming in the backyard. Our sources say Kelley found King naked, banging on the glass, and she called out to him, "What's wrong, Rodney?"

Kelley is telling friends she then went to grab her phone when she heard a big splash. She then went to the backyard and discovered him in the bottom of the pool and called police.

Paramedics attempted to revive King, but were unsuccessful.

The New York Police Department is looking to arrest Drake for his role in the bottle throwing brawl with Chris Brown according to a New York Post report.

According to the Post, Drake will be charged with reckless endangerment after a witness told police they saw the rapper hurl a bottle during the brawl at New York City nightclub W.I.P. on Wednesday.

If Drake doesn't agree to surrender by early next week he may be arrested tonight during his Club Paradise tour stop at Jones Beach Theater in Wantagh, NY.

I have turned over evidence that it was Drake who instigated this. The evidence makes it clear that Chris is the victim in all of this,” said Brown’s attorney, Mark Geragos. “I believe the police are building a case against Drake and his thugs. Clearly, Drake was the instigator, and there is evidence he threw glassware.”

Drake has said that he was leaving the venue when the fight broke out.

Video After The Jump

Cash Money is circling the wagons around Drake after his altercation earlier in the week with Chris Brown at club WIP in New York City.

MTV caught up with Birdman to talk about the incident and he told them he ha Drake's back 100%.

"Well, to me, I think n*ggas got Drake twisted. A lot of n*ggas be playin', pitty-pattin' with Drake. I don't like that sh*t, period," Birdman said. "Drake is one of us, so if you f*ckin' with Drake, you f*ckin' with us, period!"

Drake, Brown, Meek Mill and others got into a wild bottle throwing brawl that was reportedly sparked by a feud over singer Rihanna. No other YMCMB members were at the club with Drake during the melee and Birdman said that isn't the way he wants his label to be seen.

"We never been the type of brand to be running around f*cking with n*ggas, that's not us we don't do that," he said. "We're into making money, we're professionals at what we do. We go do our shows and leave. Whatever we do, we know how to stick and move make the money and go."

Stunna added that he know the rap game can turn dangerous.

"The rap sh*t get gangsta man," he continued. "I come up where rappers shoot. There wasn't no fighting in my area. We was shooting motherf*ckers. F*ck with me I'm blasting straight up. I aint got time to be playing with you. We gonna do this and end this now. It's a different era and we don't promote that. We not about that none of that, but I think sometimes things get out of hand and you just gotta be ready for whenever and however it do."

As far as the Cash Money CEO can tell Drake isn't at fault in this latest incident. He believes the Toronto rapper is just making good music and not looking for trouble.

"To me, Drizzy ain't did nothin' wrong, he ain't done nothin' wrong to nobody. He just doin' great music," Birdman said. "He's not a reckless guy out there just wildin' out; he's a humble kid makin' great music."

Jonathan Cantor, Manager of Club WIP has been arrested on outstanding warrants, but speculation is NYPD is trying to squeeze him for more information about the fight between Chris Brown and members of Drake's entourage. Police also say they are investigating whether gunshots were fired inside the club during the brawl.

We are investigating the possibility of gunshots fired at the club,” NYPD spokesman Paul Browne told the New York Daily News. “We have several eyewitnesses telling detectives they heard what they believed to be shots fired during the disturbance. We have several witnesses who said they heard a sound they believed was a gunshot.

So far no ballistic evidence has been found to back up those witness claims.

The Daily News is reporting that Brown, his bodyguard Big Pat and his girlfriend Karrueche Tran have been questioned by police, but Brown is now denying that he saw Drake in the club out of fear of being labeled a snitch.

Despite Brown's denial, stories continue to pour in that Drake instigated the fight after rejecting a $2000 bottle of Armand de Brignac Champagne that Brown sent over to his table as a peace offering. Drake reportedly sent the bottle back along with a note that read I am f*cking the love of your life."

21-year old model Ingrid Gutierrez was sitting at Brown's table when the trouble began.

I saw him tell the waitress to send a bottle to Drake’s table. I then saw a waitress come back with a piece of paper and gave it to Chris,” she told the New York Post. “He looked upset and just threw it on the floor.”

Gutierrez says that at that point Drake, his bodyguards and Meek Mill approached their table.

They were giving him [Brown] the middle finger. They got into each other’s faces and were shouting at each other,” Gutierrez said. “Chris told Drake to f*ck off, and the next thing I could hear is the sound smashed glass and mayhem started. Somebody in Drake’s group — I don’t think it was Drake — swung at Chris, but missed. Chris didn’t swing back, he just tried to brush them off. He told us, ‘Let’s go,’ but there were bottles flying at us. I saw one bottle was thrown, it looked like a vodka bottle, and hit Chris on the face,” she said. “The anger from Drake’s entourage was terrifying. There was blood gushing out of Chris’ chin.

At least eight people were injured by flying bottles and glass including Big Pat, who suffered a gash to his forehead. Also injured were two Australian tourists. One, 23-year old Megan Cassidywas knocked unconscious. Another, 24-year old Hollie C., required 16 stitches to close a wound to her head.
