YNW Melly is begging a judge to let him out of prison ... because he says he's on the verge of dying from COVID-19.
The rapper's lawyer, Bradford Cohen, filed legal docs, obtained by TMZ, claiming the rapper -- in prison awaiting his murder trial -- is suffering from severe chills, heavy labored breathing, headaches and body aches since he tested positive for the coronavirus.
Cohen says Melly weighs 114 pounds and has NOT been monitored by medical personnel every hour like they're supposed to. And, there's this ... Cohen claims Melly's been holed up in a cell with another inmate who also has COVID-19 ... and there's fear "if the virus can be mutated or passed reoccurring between individuals."
Cohen claims the there's a lack of preparedness by the jail for this type of epidemic ... as "they have not given them masks, or cleaning supplies that would be beneficial regarding his recovery. This is against all recommendations of the Surgeon General and CDC."
Melly's asking the judge if he can get out of prison and be placed on house arrest and treated at a medical facility at his own expense. Melly, of course, has been sitting in a Florida jail for more than a year after being arrested and charged in the double murder of two of his friends.
Shenzhen, in southeastern China, has become the first city in the country to ban the consumption of cats and dogs, the government announced Thursday.
Under new rules which will come into effect May 1, the government said it will be illegal to eat animals raised as pets.
In February, following the coronavirus outbreak, China passed a law to ban the consumption of wild animals.
Now Shenzhen will prohibit the consumption of state-protected wild animals and other terrestrial wild animals taken from the wild, as well as captive-bred and farmed terrestrial wild species.
In addition, the consumption of animals raised as pets, such as cats and dogs will also be banned.
Animals that can be consumed include pig, cattle, sheep, donkey, rabbit, chicken, duck, goose, pigeon, quail, as well as aquatic animals who are not banned by other laws or regulations.
"If convicted, they will be subjected to a fine of 30 times of the wild animal's value, if the animal is above the value of 10,000CNY [$1400 USD]," announced authorities.
The coronavirus outbreak is thought to have started at a wildlife market in the Chinese city of Wuhan, and authorities have acknowledged they need to bring the lucrative wildlife industry under control if it is to prevent another outbreak.
However ending the trade will be hard. The cultural roots of China's use of wild animals run deep, not just for food but also for traditional medicine, clothing, ornaments and even pets.
This isn't the first time Chinese officials have tried to contain the trade. In 2003, civets -- mongoose-type creatures -- were banned and culled in large numbers after it was discovered they likely transferred the SARS virus to humans. The selling of snakes was also briefly banned in Guangzhou after the SARS outbreak.
But today dishes using the animals are still eaten in parts of China.

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (AP) — A New Mexico man is facing charges after police say he became enraged he didn’t qualify for a COVID-19-related stimulus check and tried to set his wife on fire.
The Albuquerque Journal reports Joe Macias was arrested Wednesday shortly following an argument with his disabled wife, where he allegedly doused her with gasoline.
The wife told police Macias had come home around 5 p.m. with a four-pack of beer and “upset because he did not qualify for the stimulus check.”
According to police, the 63-year-old Macias threw gas on his wife and their mobile home.
The wife told officers Macias then pulled out a cigarette and attempted to light it several times, but was unsuccessful due to the lighter getting gasoline on it.
Police say officers later found Macias walking down the street, his clothes soaked in gasoline. Officers also discovered the victim, her hair and pajamas soaked in gasoline on the floor inside a nearby trailer.
Macias charged with attempted murder, kidnapping, and aggravated battery against a household member.
No attorney was listed for him in online court records.

In this episode of People’s Party, Talib Kweli and Jasmin Leigh sit down with rapper, author, producer, and one of the most influential and respected figures around the world in all of culture. The leader of the iconic group Public Enemy -- "Mista" Chuck D.
Over the course of two hours, we get an insightful and exclusive discussion highlighting the life and career of a man who helped shape the course of music history. Public Enemy and their pull-no-punches approach to attacking politics and addressing social injustices was the beginning of a true movement in every sense of the word. With Chuck "trending like a chicken sandwich" after his fallout with Flavor Flav, he, Kweli, and Jasmine discuss the rapper's early childhood, coming up in the middle of the civil rights era, PE following Run DMC's footsteps to success in the industry, Chuck designing the PE logo, Yo! MTV Raps co-host Andre "Doctor Dre" Brown's huge contribution to hip-hop, and PE's signature sound. Chuck also speaks to the current generation, giving advice on use of their smartphones.
Later in the episode, Chuck reflects on the producing the demo 'Public Enemy No.1' by using two tape decks, which were called 'pause tapes' back in day, by those who didn't have access to a sampler. He touches on the struggles of getting radio play, even during the height of PE's popularity, the origins of his 'louder than a bomb' rapping style being inherited from his father, his mother forcing him to take part in plays that she put on at the local theater, and the process of coming up with the impactful titles of PE's records. Chuck also talks about mentoring a young Busta Rhymes and Leaders of The New School, all of them being from the Roosevelt neighborhood of Long Island, as well as what it was like being the first hip-hop group to perform in Ireland while the IRA was fully active.
As the conversation crosses the 1:30 mark, the discussion moves to Flavor Flav and his essential role in Public Enemy as the greatest hype-man in history. Kweli, Chuck, and Jasmine discuss the origins of the clock necklace, Chuck fighting to keep Flav, and the rest the members in the group when Def Jam wanted them dropped. They talk about Flav and his move to doing reality TV with "Flavor Of Love", despite the inevitable objections from long-time PE fans, including Talib himself. Chuck details the reasons why he didn't show up for his Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award, he discusses Pop Smoke's murder, and clears the air about Flavor Flavs supposed firing after Chuck performed at a Bernie Sanders campaign event. Chuck also reflects on his feelings when Obama was elected, shares his views of Donald Trump, and discusses the issue of lack of black ownership in black industries. Chuck finishes with a story about his experiences with Tupac Shakur, who he states was like a little brother to him, and talks about how he felt mentoring young emcees like Pac, Ice Cube, and Treach was like a calling. Chuck also tells about his friendship with Prince, and as the interview comes to a close, Talib states that we will definitely be seeing a part 2 of Chuck D at the People's Party -- as even that sprawling discussion had barely scratched the surface of a long and fascinating career of one of hip-hop's greatest of all-time.
