NEW YORK — Lloyd Banks said he wasn't deeply touched by the original version of "We Are the World" when it came out in 1985; the Southside Queens native was just barely 2 years old when the star-studded charity record debuted. So, understandably, Banks said he has no problem with the record being remade.

"To be honest with you, I'm very aware of the record and how big the record was," he said Wednesday afternoon at the G-Unit office. "But I was so young at the time, it really doesn't affect me the way it would affect an older rapper. They might have completely understood what the record was. It doesn't disappoint me they had rap in it now. It's kids out there that never heard the record to begin with. I can't say they messed the record up. If anything, they brought it to a new audience.

"Michael Jackson was a phenomenal artist. It will never be another one of those guys," Banks added. "So anything would have not topped [the original version]. You could have anybody sing on that. But it was a good look. It was for a good cause."

Jay-Z, meanwhile, told MTV News that the original was "untouchable" and was surprised that it was remade.

Banks found out about the tragic earthquake in Haiti when he was released from jail in Canada and came back home to the U.S. The G-Unit rapper was arrested for assault and robbery last month after an alleged dispute with a concert promoter.

"Actually, when I had first came back from jail, I seen that," he explained. "It was the first thing I saw in the airport. It really bothered me. People was sending me stuff through the phone; [pictures] of people lined up dead. It really bothered me. From that point on, I was like, 'Whatever I could do [to help], I'll be there. A concert or whatever.' I have a lot of close friends that are Haitian, including Sha Money XL, Tony Yayo, Whoo Kid and some of my guys from the street. It's like, 'Damn, they got family members they still haven't heard from to this day.' I wouldn't know what I would do in that situation. My heart goes out to all those people who lost somebody."

By the time you read this, Memphis Bleek will have flown out of New Jersey and landed in Florida to meet Jay-Z. The two are rehearsing for the next leg of the Blueprint 3 Tour for the next couple of days, and the real thing kicks off this weekend.

Although we haven't heard a lot of Memph's music the last three years, he has constantly been performing at Jay-Z's shows and keeping a close bond with the cat he used to borrow sugar from in the Marcy Projects. When Bleek drops his next album, The Process, later this year, things will be different. The independent release will be his first album not coming through Roc-A-Fella records.

"It was mutual," Bleek said about not signing with Hov's Roc Nation and choosing to go independent. "It was a conversation ... I was asking him his next move. What is he gonna do? Where is Blueprint 3 coming out, since he had just left Def Jam. He was telling me he was doing this Roc Nation thing. He was trying to start a whole new venture, new label, new brand — a whole new everything. I was like, 'Damn. What's next for me?' He was like, 'Whatever you wanna do.' After a little bit of thinking, I came to a decision: 'It's time for [my company] Get Lo to breathe. I can't be under that umbrella forever.' The conversation was more or less mutual.

"He's giving me the free will to do whatever I want to do," added Bleek, who said Just Blaze produced two songs on his upcoming LP. "Time for me to prove myself on my terms."

Obviously, with Bleek and Jay, their relationship is based on more than music. Bleek said he thought Beanie Sigel and Jay had that same bond. Just like many fans, Memph said he was shocked that Beans came out dissing him and Jay. Just this week, during a live show in Philadelphia, Beans spit his flames at Jay and Bleek again, rapping, "Memph Bleek pee the sheets/ Leave the bed all wetty."

"My thing is, what's the purpose?" Bleek said about Sigel's outburst. "You said all you had to say. You said you wasn't gonna say no more until Jay called you. He ain't call. Everything you said ain't adding up. It becomes a point, what are you doing it for? Are you doing it to get you a deal? Are you doing it to get you hot, doing it to get you back on the radio? That's all I wanna know. Anybody knows if you come at Hov, you're not stopping his movement. C'mon, it's stupid. We been there before. We seen this movie. I hate to elaborate on it, because it's like I'm breathing life on a situation that really don't need no life to it."

Bleek said he spoke to Beans the night before the Powerhouse show in Philadelphia last year, and the Broad Street Bully gave him no indication that there was any ill will.

"For it to come out the blue like this, it was like, 'Oh, this is what you really was thinking?' " Bleek said. "When Ice Cube left N.W.A, it was automatic dis records. Automatic. They was coming at each other. The Roc had split up in 2003. We in 2010. Seven years later, you wanna dis? It's pointless. It's no truth to it. 'Jay is this, Jay is foul.' Jay is not foul. This is what I tell everybody: Opportunity is worth more than a check. So that's what people need to understand. He gave the opportunity to get rich. It ain't about the check he didn't give you. I didn't get it. The check you waiting for, I'm waiting for too then. My opportunity is to be able to do this interview with you, still be relevant, be onstage with that man and even be a part of history and what we did. That's more than any dollar amount. You can push it however far you gonna carry it."

With all that has transpired lately, Bleek said the chances of mending any fences with Sig are less than bleak.

"Could it ever be mended? Jay is gone," Bleek said. "I could sit down with Beans. You wanna holla with me, he knows how to get in contact with me. I'm out here. Jay's gone. Ain't no time to look back. Where [Jay's] at, no time to look back. If Jay looks back, it's the back of the G5 [jet], luggage. He's gone. We don't need that. Where's the problem? When [all the Roc-A-Fella artists] signed their release paper and went their separate ways, it was no problem. Now it's a problem. Why do you need to talk?"

As for the footage that recently hit the Net of Bleek and former Roc co-CEO Damon Dash showing each other love in Europe, Bleek said that video was old.

"That was almost three years ago," he clarified. "We was on the Water for Life Tour. I knew all that was gonna come out. I thought it was gonna come out before. Like I say to anybody else, Dame is a cool dude. Dame did things for me in my career I could never take back. I could never down him for nothing."

Tiger Woods's reintegration into public life has begun. The golfer, who later this week plans to issue an apology and discuss his future, is seen jogging on Wednesday in Orlando, Fla., near his home.

Although his wife, Elin Nordegren, has been frequently photographed, this is the first time Woods has been spotted in Florida since the sex scandal exploded last November.

A statement posted on his Web site says Woods will be addressing a group of "friends, colleagues and close associates" on Friday at a golf course in Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla. The media will be invited, but can't ask questions.

"While Tiger feels that what happened is fundamentally a matter between him and his wife, he also recognizes that he has hurt and let down a lot of other people who were close to him," the statement says. "He also let down his fans. He wants to begin the process of making amends, and that's what he's going to discuss."

Naomi Campbell is still the talk of New York's Fashion Week following her Fashion for Relief event that helped benefit earthquake-damaged Haiti. The gala featured fashion from the world's top designers and paid tribute to the late Alexander McQueen. PopEater had backstage access and met with Chris Brown, Victoria Beckham, Kelly Osbourne and Campbell to talk about their participation in the sold out event at Bryant Park.

All proceeds from the show go to help build up the health care system in Haiti for suffering mothers and children, Campbell tells PopEater. "I'm grateful to be able to continue raising awareness & funds to benefit the mothers and babies in Haiti... I encourage everyone to please log-on and continue donating towards this urgent cause."

Backstage stylist Rachel Zoe pulled together 92 looks for the evening's event. "When Naomi Campbell calls you and wants you to style a show for her, you do it. You don't think about it," Zoe tells PopEater.

Duchess Sarah Ferguson kicked off the evening and told the audience that "tonight we can save lives in Haiti because of you." As the fashion show kicked into high gear, both celebrities and models shared the catwalk. Brown, Osbourne, Malin Ackerman, Alan Cumming and Estelle put their best foot forward and avoided any runway disasters.

The show's highlight was the final tribute to fashion designer McQueen. As the lights dimmed, a very Lady Gaga inspired Daphne Guiness hit the runway wearing a shimmery body suit. Her face was covered in white gauze. Models started hitting the runway first in one of McQueen's Spring 2010 dresses and then to his memorable fashion from other seasons. All the models, including Naomi Campbell posed at the front of the catwalk before walking back hand-in-hand.

Sitting in the second row,'American's Next Top Model' stylist Jay Manuel had an emotional reaction to the tribute. "Coming through the back, it was really emotional when I passed the rack of McQueen clothing," he tells PopEater. "I've been wearing McQueen all week in memory of him. I didn't realize it was going to affect me... Coming here and seeing his clothes backstage, it saddened me."

The event also raised money for CARE, a charity focused on rebuilding Haiti's healthcare system for mothers and children. The show, which was made available to the public, sold out in less than four days with tickets ranging from $100 to $150.

All clothing modeled at the show, which included donations by major designers from Dolce&Gabbna to Zac Posen, will be sold on Net-a-porter.com starting March 15. According to the Wall Street Journal, the event raised more than $100,000 in ticket sales for Haiti. Want to help out? Send some love and money over to CARE.

MARANA, Ariz. -- Tiger Woods will end nearly three months of silence Friday when he speaks publicly for the first time since his middle-of-the-night car accident sparked stunning revelations of infidelity.

However, his agent said Woods will not take any questions from a small group of media.

"This is not a press conference," Mark Steinberg said Wednesday.

It will be Woods' first public appearance since Nov. 27, when he crashed his SUV into a tree outside his Florida home. Woods' only comments since then have been made through his Web site.

"It will be good to see Tiger's face again, and see that he's actually out there somewhere," Stewart Cink said. "I think this is the beginning of the comeback process for him."

Woods is to speak at 11 a.m. ET Friday from the clubhouse at the TPC Sawgrass in Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla., home of the PGA Tour.

"This is all about the next step," Steinberg said. "He's looking forward to it."

Still, there was strict control over the appearance, typical of Woods' career.

Steinberg described the gathering as a "small group of friends, colleagues and close associates" who will listen to Woods apologize as he talks about the past and what he plans to do next. He said three wire services have been invited -- The Associated Press, Reuters and Bloomberg -- and he asked the Golf Writers Association of America to recommend pool reporters.

Only one camera will be in the room to provide live coverage via satellite. Steinberg said other writers with proper credentials could watch from a hotel ballroom more than a mile away.

"The first time out, he's better controlling it," Padraig Harrington said. "Over time, there will be questions. At the moment, the best thing is a more controlled environment and gradually ease his way back into it."

Steinberg said in an e-mail announcing the public appearance, "While Tiger feels that what happened is fundamentally a matter between he and his wife, he also recognizes that he has hurt and let down a lot of other people who were close to him. He also let down his fans. He wants to begin the process of making amends and that's what he's going to discuss."

The timing is peculiar. It will be held during the Accenture Match Play Championship in Arizona, sure to steal attention away from the first big event of the year. Accenture was the first sponsor to drop Woods when he became embroiled in the sex scandal.

"He's got to come out at some point," Rory McIlroy said. "I suppose he might want to get something back against the sponsor that dropped him. No, I don't know. It just went on for so long. I'm sick of hearing about it. And I'm just looking forward to when he's getting back on the golf course."

PGA Tour commissioner Tim Finchem said he did not think Woods' appearance was going to undermine a World Golf Championship event.

"We have tournaments every week," Finchem said. "I think it's going to be a story in and of itself. A lot of people are going to be watching golf this week to see what the world of golf says about it, my guess is. So that will be a good thing."

As far as the PGA Tour's part in the Woods event, Finchem said: "We were asked to make the facility available and to help with the logistics. That's what we're doing."

Steinberg said only that Woods' appearance during the championship was "a matter of timing." Asked if it could have waited until Monday, he said, "No."

No other news conference this week drew a larger crowd of reporters than the 20 who surrounded Finchem, a testament to how Woods has dominated the conservation at the Match Play.

"We're all better off when he's playing," Adam Scott said. "I'm curious as to when he'll return to golf."

Woods made a spectacular fall from his perch atop golf. He was believed to have been the first athlete to gross $1 billion in earnings and endorsements and, at 14 majors, was closing in on golf's record of 18 majors held by Jack Nicklaus.

It all collapsed in the morning hours after Thanksgiving.

Over the last few months, Woods has been on the cover of gossip magazines and the butt of jokes on national talk shows.

In the days before Woods' accident, a National Enquirer story alleged the world's No. 1 golfer had been seeing a New York nightclub hostess. Following the crash, a stream of women came forward to claim they had romantic relationships with Woods. One woman provided Us Weekly magazine a voicemail she said Woods left her three days before the crash, asking her to take his number off the phone.

Woods admitted to "infidelity" in a statement on his Web site in mid-December and has been on an indefinite break from golf ever since.

Ian Poulter, who went extra holes to win his opening match, was among those curious to hear what Woods has to say. His only hope was to hear about it later.

"Hopefully, I'll be on the golf course and not listening to it," he said.

Ludacris had a larger grin than usual during NBA All-Star weekend. His record "How Low" was one of the biggest records in the clubs. There's nothing like seeing other celebrities — especially NBA players — partying to your music.

"It feels good," Ludacris said at Cowboys Stadium on Sunday at the NBA All-Star Game. "Athletes get motivated by songs sometimes. That's part of our motivation to make sure we get everybody else motivated. When we get in the studio, we want to make songs that are gonna play at such things as the All-Star game or the Super Bowl. That's my motivation."

Luda's Battle of the Sexes — album number seven — hits stores on March 9.

"I'm feeling extremely excited," 'Cris said. "We pushed it up a week, due to the anticipation. I'm feeling real good about it. We're almost platinum on the digital download singles. Thanks to everybody for buying that 'How Low.' Remixes, more singles to come. It's going down."

A couple of other songs that have leaked from the album are "Hey Ho" with Lil' Kim ("If men sleep around, we some playas / But for women, they be saying, 'Hey ho,' " Luda raps on the hook) and "My Chick Bad," featuring Nicki Minaj.

"He sent me the beat," Nicki recently told us of the collaboration. "He didn't have verses on it yet. I told him, 'You could take what I did to the next level because you're animated and crazy. People know you for that.' I kinda went animated and crazy on that. Luda is definitely one of those people — I love when people don't take themselves too seriously."

Throwing a show in one of New Orleans' biggest theatres, the 2100-capacity Municipal Auditorium, on Mardi Gras night -- after the entire city has spent the day downing bloody marys and beers -- is a dicey venture.

That is, unless the city is celebrating the homecoming of its once and possibly future great hip-hop hope: Mystikal, the former No Limit and Jive Records recording artist who completed a six-year jail sentence less than two weeks ago.

The night's lineup was old-school and hometown, and read like a yearbook of 90's New Orleans rap. The Ghetto Twiinz did a set, as did No Limit artists Fiend and the vicious lyricist Mia X, who ran through an a capella version of her 1993 feminist screed "Da Payback." The 20-year-plus reigning king of local party music DJ Jubilee warmed the crowd up with his local club hits until finally, from backstage, came that unmistakable rasp: "Who y'all want?"

Mystikal appeared in a royal purple shirt, knit cap, and a glittering medallion with the logo of his new indie label, Big Truck. The venue was barely at half capacity, but they went nuts to welcome the hometown boy back for a tight thirty-minute set of classics.

Six years in the pen seems to have only honed his chops; he still raps at an unearthly speed with that trademark weird, guttural vocal bark, and though we didn't get any of the new tracks he's been allegedly working on day and night since his release (he's been camped out at former No Limit head producer KLC's Baton Rouge studio for the past two weeks), the Carnival crowd was there for the hits, and they got ‘em -- plus lots of thank-yous and a little trash talk.

"Thank you for all them cards, and all the letters," he said at one point. "I been gone six years, listening to all the fools on the radio, watching all the fools on TV. I want them to know the competition just got stiff."

After a standing ovation for "Shake Ya Ass," he was out after a set that seemed far too short.

But Mardi Gras wasn't over yet: the Lil Stooges Brass Band took the stage and re-did the song street-parade style, as the crowd second-lined back out into the night for another drink.

SET LIST:
U Would If U Could
Y'all Ain't Ready Yet
If It Ain't Live It Ain't Me
Tarantula
Still Smokin
Move Bitch
Danger (Been So Long)

McDonalds Employee Viciously Attacked By Manager [Video]

Video after the break...

In a recent act of unnecessary violence, a 17-year-old male was the victim to an assault as he was attacked by his supervisor while at McDonalds in Memphis.

According to the victim, he was punched and kicked and was slammed against the counter repeatedly.

Having to be rushed to the hospital with his face swollen, the teen can no longer open his right eye and he is suffering from a broken nose.

The manager in question could be faced with assault charges and he has been placed on suspension until the allegations have been sorted out accordingly.

Being asked to cover an overnight shift, a deal was made that he would receive a meal and be able to leave at 5 a.m. The deal was apparently broken after having to stay longer to wait for the opening manager and when he tried to clock out, he was attacked.

Lil Wayne Puts South Beach Condo Up For Sale

jail.jpg

Rapper Lil Wayne is looking to cash out on his Miami real estate holdings, as he prepares to serve a year in prison for a gun violation.

The New Orleans rapper put his luxurious South Beach, Florida condominium up for sale for a cool $2.8 million dollars.

1354391_f520.jpg

The unit, which located in the Murano Grande Condominium, has four bedrooms.

Last year, The New York Post reported that Lil Wayne was having trouble selling another three-bedroom, two bathroom condo on South Beach, because it smelled like marijuana.

Lil Wayne denied those allegations to London DJ Tim Westwood during an interview last week.

“We’re not having trouble selling it, but all the other stuff is true," Lil Wayne joked with Tim Westwood. "The people that are coming to look at it like that more about it That’s like coming into Bob Marley’s crib and you still smelling weed and his bed still messed up. They’re like ‘leave all that s**t. I want to buy all that. I’m one of those ni**as right now.”

The chart-topping rapper is currently renting a 15,000 square-foot mansion on La Gorce Island.
In October of 2009, Lil Wayne pleaded guilty to attempted criminal possession of a weapon, after police found a loaded .40 caliber gun on his tour bus in July of 2008.

He is due to be sentenced to one year in prison on March 2.

Alicia Keys recently teamed with fellow female powerhouse Beyoncé to film the video for "Put It in a Love Song" in Brazil. Some local fans posted video footage online, in which we see Keys giving a performance in the streets.

A plethora of photos were also put on AliciaKeysDaily.com, showing A.Keys and B dressed up in festive dresses, also in the streets. On Sunday, during the NBA All-Star Game at Cowboys Stadium, Alicia talked about the latest release from her The Element of Freedom LP.

"Shooting 'Put It in a Love Song' in Rio, in Brazil, was very incredible," Keys said. "I feel that the energy of the city matches the energy of the song. It's sensual, it's exciting, it's so rich with color. I loved it. The people came out so heavy and so hard. I think it was exciting, especially to participate and experience it with them like that. Me and B have a great relationship. And to be able to have the chemistry we have and do it in a city that's so unique like that is unforgettable. The pictures speak a thousand words. So you saw the energy out there. It was great."

On Sunday, Keys performed for more than 108,000 people at the stadium, a new attendance record for any NBA game. The singer did a medley of her hits: "Empire State of Mind," "Sleeping With a Broken Heart" and "No One."

"It is a grand stage," Keys said of the mini-set. "It's really exciting. I'm a personal fan of championship-style games where the best are playing. It's exciting, and I love that. Also to be able to perform on a stage like this and a venue like this, people are excited. They're here to have a great time, and so I'm glad that on Valentine's Day, I'm able to bring a little love in the building. So it's gonna be beautiful.

While most members of the Mixtape Daily family are big fans of the Dallas Cowboys' rivals (Shaheem rolls with the G-Men for life, J-Rod loves the Eagles, and Rahman bleeds Jets green), we have to give it up to owner Jerry Jones and the Cowboys Stadium. The massive, breathtaking, suspended hi-def screen alone sets it apart from the pack.

We won't get too sentimental about spending NBA All-Star Weekend there, but we did get a chance to catch up with Jerry at Jay-Z and LeBron James' "Two Kings Dinner & Afterparty." The owner of America's Team recalled giving Eminem a tour of the palatial venue when Mr. Mathers attended the Cowboys vs. Chargers game in December.

"We, of course, are great fans and were tickled to death to have that kind of interest," Jones said of Em coming to the stadium.

Jones said we might eventually see a huge rap show at the stadium, which could hold well over 100,000 fans for a concert, and he thinks Em or Jay-Z would be perfect to pack the venue. "Those are the kinds of stars or the kinds of individuals that people are so interested in seeing," he said. "We've got a venue there that can show them and their skills and talent. We could put a crowd in there to watch them."

"I'm here [playing Dallas] in a couple of weeks, actually," Jay-Z said when asked about Jones' comments. "I'm not playing the big stadium, but one day."

Meanwhile, Jones said he got the feeling Em was interested in rocking Cowboys Stadium. "I believe he was thinking of how it would sound in there for him to be involved [for a concert]," Jones said of Eminem's tour of the venue.

Cowboys Stadium hosted the 2010 NBA All-Star game this past Sunday, which broke the record for attendance with more than 108,000 fans.

"[Dallas Mavericks owner] Mark Cuban initiated the idea as we were building the stadium," Jones said about how the All-Star game ended up in Dallas. "I dreamed of having a basketball game in there — basketball or soccer. A chance to do the All-Star game was a dream come true. It's been great working with [NBA commissioner] David Stern. It's been great working with Mark with what we're doing. ... I've been out there spending most of my time watching them construct the setting for the game. The NBA hasn't spared anything making it special for the fans."

Shyne Po Signs Seven Figure Deal With Def Jam

Miss Info Reports

Multiple sources have confirmed to me that Shyne Po has signed a 7-figure deal with Def Jam.*

This ends a bidding war that had industry bigwigs vying for Shyne’s attention, flying to Belize, calling and courting, ever since the Brooklyn emcee was released from prison and deported to Belize back in October.

For Shyne to turn down hard-court pressure from Jimmy Iovine/Dr.Dre and others and instead join LA Reid back at his last known recording-residence actually seems like an inevitable move….because I’ve been hearing that Shyne has been pow-wowing with veteran manager Kyambo “HipHop” Joshua for a while now. Joshua and his HipHopSince1978 partners, Gee Roberson, also manage Lil Wayne, Drake, Young Jeezy and more. Meanwhile, my old friend Al Branch is both a partner in HipHopSince1978 and a high-level exec at Def Jam…see how that works? Synergy! Now there have been recent reports of new label-wide pressures, but with this team in place, Shyne is in good hands.

As for the logistics, the plan is for Shyne to work out of London, it’s a buzzing hip hop hub with all the necessary facilities. Oh, and about that first verse which appeared on an early DJ Khaled album leak (and is allegedly scratched from the final tracklisting)…I’m hearing that Shyne didn’t intend that verse to be his first look. After nearly a decade inside, he’s allowed a little time to figure out what direction he’ll take.

*(obviously in this climate, these kinds of numbers are few and far between, so this certainly signals that labels see value in legacy or storyline. Drake got a reported 2 million last year. And of course, this is Shyne’s second time around in a bidding war.)

The odd couple of Freeway & Jake One shot up to NYC last night after tearing it down in Philly in support of their newly released collabo album The Stimulus Package. Their New York City release party took place at the Highline Ballroom with Info taking care of hosting duties and Joell Ortiz & Brother Ali warming things up. Around 11:00 PM, Philly Freezer took the stage rockin’ the “Philly-hoobanger look” (c) Miss Info and performed a few classics along with some material from the new album. Don’t forget, The Stimulus Package is available in stores and online now. Cop Here.
