Russell Simmons is facing more allegations of rape, as three more women came forward in an article published by the New York Times on Wednesday, December 13.
Drew Dixon, a former Def Jam executive, told The Times that Simmons sexually assaulted her at his apartment in 1995.
Singer Tina Baker alleges the 60-year old Phat Farm founder took her to his apartment in 1990 or early 1991, to talk about her career.
“It all got really ugly, pretty fast," Baker recalled.
She says the two scuffled as he tried to force himself on her. Simmons eventually pinned her on his bed, saying "Don't fight me.".
“I did nothing, I shut my eyes and waited for it to end,” she said.
Toni Sallie, a music journalist for the trade magazine Black Radio Exclusive, tells a similar story. Sallie told the NY Times that in 1988 Simmons invited her to his apartment for a party he was having for his girlfriend. When she arrived no one else was there.
Sallie alleges Simmons "jumped on top of me, and physically attacked me.” She was raped during the encounter.
Simmons issued a statement denying the allegations:
“I vehemently deny all these allegations. These horrific accusations have shocked me to my core and all of my relations have been consensual," he said. “I have enormous respect for the women’s movement worldwide and their struggle for respect, dignity, equality and power.”
In total, five women claim to have been attacked by the Def Jam co-founder.
In November, screenwriter Jenny Lumet and model Keri Claussen Khalighi accused him of sexually assaulting them in 1991.
