Pics After The Jump

We saw quite a few creative celebrity Halloween costumes, but Nicki Minaj knocked everyone down and out.

The superstar rapper wore a black leather studded dominatrix police outfit that didn't leave much to the imagination. Her breasts are once again on full display with two crossed pasties covering her nipples.

Radio legend Troi Torain (STAR) always delivers hard-hitting objective truth. As a culture critic he is vicious, as a businessman he is relentless, as a luminary he is un-matched.

Considered a radio pioneer by many, STAR has set precedents on the urban landscape and was recently inducted into News One's "Top 20 Black Radio Jockeys Of All Time."

STAR & BUC WILD made the national stage on MTV (1999) but it was their radio show on New York's Hot 97 and Power 105 (2000 - 2006) that secured their place in Hip-Hop history.

Torain's resume includes The Source magazine, MTV Networks, Hot 97, Power 104.1, Power 105.1, Pulse 87, Hip-Hop Weekly magazine, Vladtv, Thisis50, 100.3 The Beat, shot97.com and VH1 (The Gossip Game).

This clip is from STAR's LIVE show (12noon -- 2pm) on http://shot97.com.

@MzOnPointPromo Introduces: Kilo M.O.E. (@OMG_MOE)

IMG_20130915_182809_126

Born and raised in Jersey City, New Jersey in 1975, Maurice Jones, better known by his stage name “KILO M.O.E.” is an American Rapper. He is also a National Level Bodybuilder and Personal Trainer. He was coined “KILO M.O.E” due to his popularity and fame on the streets of Topeka, Kansas. This artist got his nickname “KILO” from his infamous street time in Topeka and M.O.E. stands for “Money Over Everything”.
In 1997, KILO M.O.E was arrested on Federal Drug Charges and sentenced to 5 years. He was released in 2002 to Baltimore and was very fortunate to have the unwavering support of his family. He tried on many occasions to establish himself as an independent artist but with little success.

In mid 2002, KILO M.O.E decided to utilize his other skills to establish a career as a National Level Bodybuilder and Personal Trainer while still striving hard to make connections in the music industry. He won multiple awards both in the Maryland NPC and Florida.

In 2012 after being sidelined by a sports injury, he went through a deep depression and decided to buy some used studio equipment. He then started recording again posting music online as a hobby.

In June 2013, Kilo M.O.E was eager to make more contacts in the music industry reaching out to Island Def Jam Recording Artist "Young Offishall" for his debut Single "Hu$tle Time" which is gaining national acclaim.

KILO M.O.E has been performing on and off for over 20 years and has a very credible resume outlining his vast experiences both in several businesses as well as on the streets.

KILO M.O.E has dropped 3 mixtapes and has been working on his fourth since he decided to start recording again using the internet as a springboard to help him gain a greater degree of recognition and exposure. His fourth mixtape titled "Globetrottaz Exclusive" is now currently available.

The song I am reviewing today is Show which is the first single from the upcoming Globetrottaz Exclusive LP.

The solid, dope, catchy, up-tempo beats start to kick in after the first 14 seconds of this song and as soon as Kilo M.O.E starts to rap, I am feeling it. The emotion, intensity and energy he has for his music really shines through and I can tell he is 100% at ease when he starts to rap. This is what he absolutely loves to do and he shows the world how he feels through his music. His music has pride of place in his heart and soul and massively influences his daily life.

Hip Hop is perhaps the most dominant musical genre. Once considered to be a fad that wouldn't stand the test of time, the art form's influence has spread throughout America and countries abroad.

Artists like 50 Cent, Diddy, Dr. Dre and Jay Z have used rap's platform to rise from poverty to become multi-millionaire businessmen whose influences are widespread.

Whoever thought we would see the day when a rapper like Hov would be welcomed into The White House, create the powerhouse imprint Roc Nation, manage many top artists, influence fashion and have a sports agency?

12350427089?profile=original

When 50 Cent burst onto the national scene in 2003 rapping about his tough childhood, getting shot 9 times, street wars and drug dealing, did anyone foresee that withing ten years he would be overseeing a massive business empire that includes SK Energy, SMS Audio, G-Unit Records, G-Note Records, Cheetah Vision Films, G-Unit Books, SMS Promotions and more?

VH1 will be airing a four-part documentary starting in February 2014, based on record executive Steve Stoute's 2011 book The Tanning of America. It will examine how Hip Hop became the dominant force that it is today.

Steve Stoute

VH1 is teaming up with acclaimed filmmakers Billy Corben and Alfred Spellman (“Cocaine Cowboys,” “Broke,” “The U”) and famed author, award-winning entrepreneur, advertising executive, and record executive Steve Stoute for a 4-part documentary series based on Stoute’s best-selling book, “The Tanning of America: How Hip-Hop Created a Culture That Rewrote the Rules of the New Economy.” VH1′s “The Tanning of America: One Nation Under Hip Hop” is a thorough examination of hip-hop as a cultural movement, whose profound influence in music, film, television, fashion, business, race relations and politics eventually paved the way for the election of Barack Obama. The 4-part 4-hour series will premiere in February 2014 on VH1.

VH1′s “The Tanning of America: One Nation Under Hip Hop” provides a visual history of the hip-hopification of America – what Stoute calls “tanning” — from “The Jeffersons” to the Fresh Prince; from “Do the Right Thing” to “8 Mile”; from the streets of Compton to Madison Ave; from block parties to the Hamptons; and from rappers to entrepreneurs to icons. The series unfolds in 4 one-hour episodes that together explore history’s pivotal tanning moments from the 1970′s to present day, and show how hip-hop is deeply woven into the American cultural fabric. It’s the history of hip-hop remixed: an epic journey that begins in the Bronx and travels all the way to 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue.

Through engaging and intimate first person stories, “Tanning” takes viewers where they’ve never been before: inside a steamy Madison Square Garden, when Russell Simmons cut a deal with Adidas sneakers during a Run DMC concert…inside the Harvard dorm room where two white Jewish kids decide to start The Source magazine…inside the car of fashion icon Tommy Hilfiger, as he drives through the streets of Harlem finding inspiration in baggy jeans… to the streets of Paris as Diddy takes over Europe for a Vogue fashion shoot… to a New York music studio where Mariah Carey collaborates with O.D.B, forever fusing pop and hip hop; and with Dr Dre as he first hears a rapper who calls himself Eminem.

Over the last three decades, hip-hop culture has been transformed from an underground urban movement to mass culture, permeating virtually every aspect of American life: the music we listen to, the clothes we wear, the food we eat, the cars we drive. Hip-hop has done more to erase perceptions about racial distinctions for the generations that grew up exposed to it than any other force since the Civil Rights Movement. There’s now a whole generation of Americans who grew up immersed in this culture that are, for all intents and purposes, colorblind. This is the true story of that evolution.

VH1′s “The Tanning of America: One Nation Under Hip Hop” features never-seen-before footage and interviews from numerous pop culture icons and entertainment personalities in America: Diddy, Dr Dre, Mariah Carey, Will.i.am, Russell Simmons, Pharrell, Nas, Reverend Run, Rick Rubin, Fab 5 Freddy, Jimmy Iovine, Al Sharpton, Cory Booker, Brett Ratner, Brian Grazer, Tommy Hilfiger, Ron Howard, Steve Stoute and many more.

“The Tanning of America: One Nation Under Hip Hop” is produced by Rakontur, with Billy Corben directing and Alfred Spellman producing. Steve Stoute is an executive producer on the project. Executive producing for VH1 are Susan Levison, Ben Zurier, Shelly Tatro, Brad Abramson and Stephen Mintz.

VH1′s Emmy Award winning Rock Docs are feature-length documentaries that tell unique stories of artists and music from a wide range of genres, styles and musical perspectives.
