NEW YORK (AP) — ABC canceled its hit reboot of “Roseanne” on Tuesday following star Roseanne Barr’s racist tweet that referred to former Obama adviser Valerie Jarrett as a product of the Muslim Brotherhood and the “Planet of the Apes.”

ABC Entertainment President Channing Dungey said the comment “is abhorrent, repugnant and inconsistent with our values.” Barr had apologized and deleted her Monday-night tweet, calling it a “bad joke,” but the damage had already been done.

The revival of the comedy was a surprise smash for ABC, owned by the Walt Disney Co., and was counted on to lead the network’s fortunes next season. Its first new episode in March was seen by more than 25 million people, with delayed viewing counted in, numbers that are increasingly rare in network television.

Dungey’s statement canceling the show came after Wanda Sykes, consulting producer for “Roseanne,” tweeted that she was leaving. Sara Gilbert, a co-star, also tweeted that the remark was abhorrent.

One of the few network shows about a working-class family, “Roseanne” attracted considerable attention upon its return when Barr’s character supported President Donald Trump. That made the show popular with conservative viewers, and Trump himself suggested the character’s backing had a lot to do with the show’s success.

But ABC had said that it expected the show, when it returned next fall, to tone down political comedy.

The Jarrett comment was one of a series of political tweets made by Barr. She criticized Democratic financier George Soros and tweeted that Chelsea Clinton was “Chelsea Soros Clinton,” implying she was married to a nephew of Soros. Clinton herself corrected Barr online, and Donald Trump Jr. retweeted two of Barr’s statements about Soros, although not the remark about Jarrett.

Jarrett, who is black, was brought up in response to Twitter commentary that raised her name in relation to an Obama conspiracy theory. Barr tweeted: “muslim brotherhood & planet of the apes had a baby=vj.”

She later tweeted an apology to Jarrett. “Forgive me,” she wrote. “My joke was in bad taste.”

After months of anticipation, GRAMMY® Award-winning multiplatinum super producer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist Zaytoven releases his full-length debut, Trap Holizay, today! Get it HERE.

Trap Holizay showcases the scope of his signature style like never before. From the pure trap power of “East Atlanta Day” [feat. Gucci Mane & 21 Savage] or “Boot Up” [feat. Future] to the anthemic, arena-size ambition of “Strong” [feat. Lil Uzi Vert], Trap Holizay offers a window into one of the most creative minds in not only hip-hop, but music at large.

The significance of this debut continues to excite tastemakers across the scene. In a recent feature that lifted the veil on the longtime mystery surrounding the producer, UPROXX claimed, Zaytoven’s beats are more in demand than almost any other producer in the game today,” while Willamette Week wrote, Zaytoven’s made a career from making other artists’ careers. Now it’s his turn.”

Earlier this month, he heralded the album’s arrival with the latest single “Go Get The Money  [feat. Rick Ross, Yo Gotti, Pusha T, & T.I.]. The track assembled some of the game’s most lyrically adroit and formidable spitters on a musical powder keg of epic proportions. Stereogum dubbed it, “one of those all-star posse cuts, and XXLsummed it up as “another banger. It proved to be a worthy successor to the first single “What You Think” [feat. Ty Dolla $ign, Jeremih, & OJ Da Juiceman].

PARIS (AP) — President Emmanuel Macron on Monday lauded as a hero a migrant from Mali who scaled an apartment building to save a child dangling from a balcony, and rewarded the young man’s bravery with an offer of French citizenship and a job as a firefighter.

“Bravo,” Macron said to 22-year-old Mamoudou Gassama during a meeting in a gilded room of the presidential Elysee Palace where Gassama also received a gold medal from the French state for “courage and devotion.”

Gassama climbed five stories up the apartment building, moving from balcony to balcony, and whisked a 4-year-old boy to safety on Saturday night as a crowd below screamed. His actions went viral on social media, where he was dubbed “Spiderman”

Gassama said he has authorization to stay legally in Italy, which is where he landed in Europe in 2014 after a more than a year in Libya and a trip across the Mediterranean Sea. He came to France in September to join his older brother, who has lived in France for decades.

Dressed in tattered blue jeans and white shirt, the young man recounted for the president what took place after he and some friends saw a young child hanging from a fifth-floor balcony.

“I ran. I crossed the street to save him,” Gassama told Macron. He said he didn’t think twice. “When I started to climb, it gave me courage to keep climbing.”

God “helped me,” too, he said. “Thank God I saved him.”

Gassama said he trembled with fear only after he had reached the boy, gotten him safely back over the balcony railing and taken him inside the apartment.

The father of the child was detained overnight for alleged parental neglect, and is to appear in court in September. He left the child alone while he shopped, then lingered to play Pokemon Go, Prosecutor Francois Molins told BFM-TV. The whereabouts of the child’s mother were unclear.

“You saved a child. Without you, no one knows what would have become of him,” the president said. “You need courage and the capability to do that.”

Macron offered to begin the naturalization process to make Gassama a French citizen and said, “Because this is an exceptional act ... we are obviously, today, going to regularize all your papers.”

Macron is behind a bill toughening French immigration law, and he stressed there is no contradiction between rewarding Gassama for his act of bravery and working to prevent migrants from entering France illegally by stopping the stream of arrivals at its source.

“An exceptional act does not make policy,” he told reporters later, vowing to maintain a policy that is “exigent, respectful of our principles” on asylum and “rigorous” regarding the migratory flux.

The special treatment for Gassama comes as authorities prepare to evacuate some 2,400 migrants from makeshift encampments in the French capital. The forced closure of the encampments is the subject of a heated debate between the Paris mayor, who wants to ensure the uprooted will be sheltered, and Interior Minister Gerard Collomb, who was present Monday at the Elysee.

Gassama told Macron he was arrested and beaten during his long rough stay in Libya, “but I wasn’t discouraged.”

The French president said Gassama’s actions made him deserving of special treatment. Working as a firefighter corresponds with his skills, said Macron, who opened the door for him to do just that.

“You have become an example because millions have seen you” on social media, the president said.

Another Malien, Lassana Bathily, was given French citizenship in January 2015, shortly after he saved lives by hiding people in a freezer and alerting police during a terror attack on a Jewish grocery where he worked.

(Fox News) A Florida woman was rescued Friday after she slipped a note to a veterinarian saying she needed help because her armed boyfriend was beating and threatening her, police said.

Jeremy Floyd, 39, was arrested after allegedly holding his girlfriend, Carolyn Reichle, captive in their home in Volusia County for two days, the Volusia County Sheriff's Office said. The alleged incident began Wednesday when the 28-year-old woman said Floyd repeatedly beat her and threatened her at gunpoint. At one point, they struggled over a handgun that fired inside the house.

Reichle spent the Thursday recovering from a head injury. The next day while thinking of an escape plan, she convinced Floyd, a convicted felon, to allow her to bring her dog to the DeLand Animal Hospital, police said. Floyd insisted on going with her.

“On the drive to the vet, Floyd reportedly again pointed the gun at Reichle, threatening to kill her and her family,” police said.

Fearing for her life, Reichle was able to slip a note to a vet that read: "Call the cops. My boyfriend is threatening me. He has a gun. Please don't let him know."

The vet called police, who responded and took Floyd into custody. Authorities also recovered a handgun.

Reichle was taken to the hospital and treated for her injuries that included a head wound, a black eye and bruises, according to the sheriff's office. Authorities also discovered two bullet holes inside the couple’s home.

Floyd was charged with domestic violence -- aggravated assault with a firearm, false imprisonment, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, possession of ammunition by a convicted felon and simple battery, police said.

He is being held without bail.

Many artists struggle to establish their musical identity trying on different musical styles like a piece of clothing, looking to find what fits. But there are others that emerge fully formed, in full command of their craft, their identity and their music. LOSO THA ARTIST fits firmly in the latter category. His latest single, “OFF THE RIP “, is a captivating and moving debut that heralds the arrival of a gifted and significant new talent, one whose music feels familiar in the best possible way, while striking out on its own territory.

A Chicago native Artist who grew up in Omaha, Nebraska, LOSO THA ARTIST took choir classes as a child, but didn’t take music seriously until he was in his early teens. He explains, I started writing songs in my head, and it took my interest in music to another level. I had to pick the pen up so I could write music to the ideas I heard in my head. Then I started making beats to broaden my horizons even more, going through what he calls, "the typical post-high school lifestyle." "I wasn’t interested in anything I was doing other than music, and I loved the wide-openness of my life."

Recording on his laptop and playing songs he was writing for his friends, LOSO THA ARTIST saw their genuinely excited reaction. "Now recording in earnest, LOSO THA ARTIST was gathering skills as a songwriter, taking his influences, like 2 Pac, Kevin Gates, Dizzy Wright, and LIL DURK, and using them to shape his own style. " I grew up with a lot of 80s & 90s gospel," LOSO explains. " My mom used to play Whitney Houston all the time. I naturally gravitated to that kind of sound; along with Hip Hop in that era where there's a warmth that I've always loved."

As his name grew in and around the Omaha area, the pieces began to fall into place for a talented artist. Entering a citywide battle showcase of the artists in Omaha, LOSO THA ARTIST did not get the attention he was looking for but it brought more strength into him to keep pushing. LOSO then hooked up with 3 upcoming known local camera men by the name of Vado from Vado Films, Patridge Pictures & Future D to bring his stories behind music to life visually. The Videos sparked major interest from several viewers and currently now, LOSO decided to sign a distribution deal with Rick Ross Music Group. "Working with Rick Ross Music Group has given me the freedom to be myself and to make the music exactly the way I want to make it." he declares.

The Chicago native Talented CEO of L.A.P.ENTERTAINMENT artist risen, coming straight out of Omaha Nebraska! LOSO has managed to use the city as a platform to launch his career and has already been stirring up all sorts of action. While in pursuit of the right major situation he plans to spread positive energy through his music & during the year of 2018/2019 y'all should expect great expectations of a grind. Hopefully allowing people to not only groove to his songs but be able to understand his perception of life through his eyes, with his dynamic, and crystal clear ability to flow in a variety of styles !!!!
