Video After The Jump

2013 was a year of many big headlines. We lost many of our most beloved stars like James Gandolfini, Paul Walker, Ken Norton, Jean Stapleton, Doe B, Lee Thompson Young, Albert Murray, Lou Myers, George Duke, Jim Kelly, Bobby "Blue" Bland, David "Deacon" Jones, Donal Byrd, Ricky "Lord Infamous" Dunigan, Robert F. Chew, Mindy McCready, Roger Ebert, Annette Funicello, Pat Summerall, Chis "Mac Daddy" Kelly, Cory Monteith and Tom Clancy.

Miley Cyrus made us forget about Hannah Montana as she twerked, exposed just about every part of her body and had a couple of hit records, "We Can't Stop" and "Wrecking Ball."

12350547880?profile=original

Beyonce kept us talking with her Super Bowl performance, world tour and surprise album.

12350548457?profile=original

Kanye West was in the headlines almost weekly. He ranted during interviews and concerts, got engaged to Kim Kardashian, who gave birth to their first child, North West. Yeezy signed an endorsement deal with Adidas and released his Yeezus album.

We also mourned the passing of former South African President Nelson Mandela.

Video After The Jump

The Christmas Day Hate-A-Thon is a live 5 hour broadcast. Originated by Star & Buc Wild in 1998, its format is fueled by objective hate, random callers, alcohol and smoking cannabis.

Radio legend Troi Torain (STAR) always delivers hard-hitting objective truth. As a culture critic he is vicious, as a businessman he is relentless, as a luminary he is un-matched.

12349990084?profile=original

Considered a radio pioneer by many, STAR has set precedents on the urban landscape and was recently inducted into News One's "Top 20 Black Radio Jockeys Of All Time."

STAR & BUC WILD made the national stage on MTV (1999) but it was their radio show on New York's Hot 97 and Power 105 (2000 - 2006) that secured their place in Hip-Hop history.

Torain's resume includes The Source magazine, MTV Networks, Hot 97, Power 104.1, Power 105.1, Pulse 87, Hip-Hop Weekly magazine, Vladtv, Thisis50, 100.3 The Beat, shot97.com and VH1 (The Gossip Game).

This clip is from STAR's LIVE show (12noon -- 2pm) on http://shot97.com.

Deb Antney is dealing with the loss of her son, Kayo Redd, and struggling to make sense of the tragedy. As we previously reported, Kayo died of a self inflicted gunshot wound on Sunday (December 29, 2013).

Ms. Antney spoke with Dennis Byron of HipHopEnquirer and gave some insight as to why it may have happened. Kayo was pursuing a rap career like his older brother, Waka Flocka Flame, but he had not yet reached the same level of success.

12350545664?profile=original

His mother told Dennis that Kayo was struggling with the fact that he couldn't help provide for her like Waka. He also recently underwent eye surgery and was having complications as a result of it.

Deb issued a brief statement to HHE regarding her son's passing.

He had just left my house and he headed down the street and the next thing I knew was my son was dead. My son was a good kid and I never had any problems with him. I just don’t know why he would do such a thing.

Video After The Jump

Charlamagne Tha God a.k.a. The Ruler of Rubbing You the Wrong Way has to be one of the most entertaining radio personalities in the country. As a member of Power 105.1's The Breakfast Club, Charlamagne doesn't take the politically correct route while interviewing your favorite celebrities.

Instead, he pushes the envelope and gives his honest opinion. His recent interview with Kanye West was an instant classic. Love him or hate him, you have to respect the way Charlamagne conducts his business.

Power 105.1 has put together some of his classic moments from 2013. Check that out below.
